While the public One UI 9.0 beta program is limited to the Galaxy S26 series, Samsung is aggressively testing the upcoming build on dozens of devices. The list has a total of 49 devices, including many budget smartphones and tablets.

It doesn’t necessarily mean these Galaxy devices will receive One UI 9.0 beta or that they will receive the stable update faster. Samsung usually starts testing new firmware weeks or months in advance to ensure the timely release of updates. That’s how the company is able to quickly expand once the stable rollout goes live.

If your Galaxy device is under testing for One UI 9.0, it’s much more likely to receive the update on time, or you may be lucky to receive it alongside premium models. Review the list to see if yours is there.

Samsung is doing One UI 9.0 internal testing on these devices

Samsung will likely continue to perform internal testing on more Galaxy devices. We’ll try to update the list when we find new firmware on the test server.

As for the public One UI 9.0 beta program, it’s currently limited to the Galaxy S26 series. There’s no official confirmation on whether it will expand to other devices, but recent reports suggest the beta program could soon open for the Galaxy S25 series.

It’s been over two months since Samsung launched its One UI 9.0 beta program, but that has remained limited to the Galaxy S26 series, with no official confirmation regarding its expansion to other models. Fortunately, that’s going to change soon, as the first One UI 9.0 internal test build for the Galaxy S25 series has just been spotted on the test server.

As Tarun Vats shared, the first One UI 9.0 internal build for the Galaxy S25 Ultra carries the firmware version S938NKSUBZZG8. This build was spotted on Samsung’s Korean server, which means that Samsung could soon begin accepting beta applications in the country.

In addition to the Galaxy S25 series, the next wave of One UI 9.0 beta program expansion may include more devices, including the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7, and a few mid-range A-series phones.

We expect that once the beta program reaches beyond the Galaxy S26 models, Samsung won’t take long to wrap up the beta program. A case in point is the One UI 8.5 beta program, which remained limited to the Galaxy S25 series for months, but when the expansion began, the pace was just impressive. We might see a similar rollout pattern with One UI 9.0 beta.

Also Read
Check if your Samsung device is eligible for One UI 9 update

As for the stable version, it debuted on the newest Galaxy foldables earlier this week. However, there’s currently no specific rollout timeline for older Galaxy devices. Some leaks say the One UI 9.0 update may start rolling out in September 2026. We hope to hear an announcement on the same very soon, and will let you know on this blog.

The Galaxy S26 series, launched earlier this year, is an excellent high-end choice with great software support. The phones come preinstalled with Android 16 OS, and are promised to receive seven major OS upgrades, all the way up to Android 23.

The Galaxy S26 trio features high-quality AMOLED screens with peak brightness of 2600 nits and Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection. The S26 and S26+ offer an excellent rear camera setup, and the Ultra variant takes it a step further with an additional telephoto sensor. The phones also bring powerful octa-core chipsets and robust connectivity features.

The Galaxy S25 FE offers a flagship-level experience at a much lower price point. Still, it gets seven years of software support, with the OS upgrades extending until Android 23, matching the S26 series.

The phone offers a large LTPO AMOLED screen, Exynos 2400 processor, and a 4900mAh battery with 45W fast charging support. It also offers 15W wireless charging and reverse wireless charging. The rear camera setup takes excellent shots with great details, natural colors, and well-controlled exposure. The selfie camera also does a nice job when there’s enough light.

If your next upgrade will be a foldable phone, it might be worth waiting for the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Galaxy Z Flip 8, and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. They will bring noticable improvements over the current Galaxy foldable, along with the best software support.

The upcoming Galaxy foldables are launching on July 22. They will debut with the One UI 9 software, so you won’t have to wait for a public release. Plus, they will receive seven OS updates, all the way to Android 24.

Unlike previous foldables, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 will feature a “wide” passport-style design, while the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra will serve as a true successor to the Fold 7 with a taller form factor and superior camera hardware.

Here’s a spec sheet based on the leaked details so far:

Galaxy A57, A37, and A27

If you’re looking for a mid-range upgrade, the Galaxy A57, A37, and A27 are worth considering. All three were released this year with Android 16 and promise a whopping six major OS upgrades. No other brand matches Samsung’s level of software support for mid-range devices.

While the Galaxy A57, A37, and A27 look similar, there are key differences on the hardware level. Of these three devices, the Galaxy A57 offers the best hardware, including a faster chipset, a higher-resolution ultrawide camera, and more robust connectivity features. The Galaxy A37 sits above the A27 by bringing better capabilities.

Galaxy M47 and A07 5G

Galaxy M47 (left), Galaxy A07 5G (right)

The best thing about Samsung is that its best software update policy isn’t reserved for pricier phones. The lower mid-range Galaxy A07 5G is also guaranteed the same treatment: 6 OS updates. The Galaxy M47 is also covered under the same update policy.

The Galaxy M47 offers better hardware than the A07, and that also means a slightly higher price. The Galaxy A07 smoothly handles everyday tasks and captures good photos and videos when there’s enough light. However, it lacks an ultrawide camera and an AMOLED panel.

Nearly a month after the beta 3 release, Samsung has just dropped another beta for the Galaxy S26 series, moving a step closer to the stable release. The latest release focuses on resolving bugs and issues that were found in the previous build.

The One UI 9.0 Beta 4 update for the Galaxy S26 series initially went live in India, and then quickly expanded to more regions, including the UK, Poland, Germany, and Korea. Only the US remains to receive the beta update, and the rollout could begin at any moment.

The latest beta update can be identified by a firmware version ending with ZZG4. It has a download size of about 1.25GB. While the update primarily focuses on bug fixes, it also includes the July 2026 security patch, making the device more secure than before.

Samsung would probably release a few more beta updates before the stable build starts rolling out sometime later this year.
If your Samsung device is missing from the list, it won’t receive the One UI 9.0 update. It’s best to upgrade to a newer model before the rollout begins later this year.

If you are wondering which phones are likely to skip the OneUI 9 update, check out of Samsung devices that won’t receive One UI 9.0 (Android 17) update story.

When will Samsung release One UI 9.0?

Samsung will unveil One UI 9.0 at the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event scheduled for July 22, 2026. The new version will debut with the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Flip 8, which are to be launched at the same event.

The stable rollout for older Galaxy devices will likely begin in September, with recent models like the Galaxy S26, Galaxy Z Fold 7, and Galaxy Z Flip 7 likely to be included in the first phase.

The One UI 9.0 beta program, which was released in early May 2026, is currently limited to the Galaxy S26 series. However, it’s expected to reach more Galaxy devices ahead of the stable rollout.

One UI 9.0 update: New features and upgrades

Samsung has already implemented major design changes in One UI 8.5, and therefore One UI 9.0 may look very similar. That said, the new version still offers many visual tweaks and new features worth looking forward to.

One UI 9.0 features thicker sliders for display brightness and volume that now fill out their full pill shapes for better touch accuracy. The media player widgets on the lock screen and quick panel can be resized and now show energetic waveform animations that match the album art. Some media controls now appear as circular buttons rather than being grouped inside a rounded rectangular container.

While the interface would look majorly unchanged, you can expect more liquid glass UI effects across One UI 9.0.

The new software will also introduce some new Galaxy AI features and refinements to existing features. It will have Creative Studio built directly into the stock app, allowing users to build personalized profile cards without opening a separate app.

The Home Up module in Good Lock has been updated to support multi-finger gestures for assigning custom actions, such as adjusting volume or triggering pop-up windows. One UI 9 also integrates a new “Ask AI” feature inside Samsung Browser to get direct answers from webpages.

I’m sure Samsung has more exciting features and upgrades in the pipeline, which should be announced at the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event later this month.

In addition to One UI 9 features, the next major upgrade will also bundle many Android 17 features. This includes the bubble support for all apps, meaning users can open any app in a floating bubble, which was previously restricted to messaging apps.

Google has also added a system-level contacts picker, allowing users to give apps access to specific contacts rather than the entire phonebook. Android 17 also improves app adaptability across different screen sizes by preventing developers from locking apps to a specific orientation.

While the One UI 9.0 public beta is limited to the Galaxy S26 series, Samsung’s One UI team is doing a lot of hard work behind the scenes to ensure a timely release for other Galaxy devices. Internal testing has been underway for weeks, mainly for high-end and mid-range smartphones, but recently, a batch of budget phones has been spotted on the test server.

Many budget phones, including the Galaxy A07, Galaxy A17, and Galaxy A16, have been spotted on the server with a One UI 9.0 test firmware. This doesn’t necessarily mean a quicker release for these devices. Early testing gives the brand additional time to build and test the software to deliver a timely release without critical bugs.

In addition to these three phones, Samsung is internally testing the upcoming One UI 9.0 software on over two dozen devices. Below is the complete list.

Samsung is internally testing One UI 9.0 on these Galaxy devices

Galaxy S Series

Galaxy S25

Galaxy S25+

Galaxy S25 Ultra

Galaxy S24

Galaxy S24+

Galaxy S24 Ultra

Galaxy S24 FE

Galaxy S23

Galaxy S23+

Galaxy S23 Ultra

Galaxy Z Series

Galaxy Z Fold 7

Galaxy Z Flip 7

Galaxy A Series

Galaxy A57

Galaxy A56

Galaxy A55

Galaxy A54

Galaxy A35

Galaxy A34

Galaxy A25

Galaxy A24

Galaxy A17

Galaxy A16

Galaxy A07

Galaxy Tab S Series

Galaxy Tab S11

Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra

Galaxy Tab S10+

Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra

In the coming weeks, Samsung might expand the public One UI 9.0 beta program to more devices, including the Galaxy S25 series. But that’s unlikely to be opened for any of the budget Galaxy phones. They will receive the stable update directly, which is expected to be released alongside the new foldable phones at the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event next month.

Last Updated: July 16, 2026

Stable Android 17 is out for Google Pixels, and Samsung is next in line. For Galaxy devices, the update arrives as One UI 9.0, which will debut pre-installed on the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Z Flip 8 at Samsung’s Unpacked event on July 22, before rolling out to older Galaxy devices in the weeks that follow.

Unfortunately, many Galaxy devices will miss out on this major upgrade, as they have already received all the OS upgrades promised at their launch. The list includes many Galaxy A-series mid-range phones, as well as some highend phones such as the Galaxy S21 FE, Galaxy S22, and Galaxy Z Fold 4.

Tracking updates for other brands too? See our full Android Update Tracker.

Review the complete list below to find out if you’ll need a hardware upgrade soon.

These Galaxy devices are not eligible for the One UI 9.0 (Android 17) update

Note: Samsung doesn’t reveal which devices won’t receive the next major upgrade. This list is based on the current software update policy, and so it should be completely accurate.

Looking for the other side of the coin? Here’s the complete list of Samsung devices eligible for the One UI 9 update.

Where the One UI 9.0 rollout stands

Samsung’s beta program is in its final stretch. One UI 9.0 Beta 4 is now rolling out to the Galaxy S26 series with the July 2026 security patch, and testing has quietly expanded to more than two dozen devices, including budget models like the Galaxy A07, A17, and A16 5G. Early testing doesn’t mean an early release for those phones, but it does suggest Samsung wants a faster, less buggy rollout than last year.

After the Z Fold 8 and Z Flip 8 launch with One UI 9.0 on board, expect the stable update to reach the Galaxy S25 series first, then the S24 and S23 generations through late 2026. Worth knowing if you’re holding a Galaxy S23: One UI 9.0 is expected to be the final major Android upgrade that generation receives.

What if your Galaxy ended support at One UI 7 or One UI 8?

If you landed here looking for an older update list: devices from the 2021 generation, the Galaxy S21, S21+, S21 Ultra, and the Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3, received their final major upgrade with One UI 7 (Android 15). The 2022 generation listed above (Galaxy S22 series, S21 FE, Z Fold 4, Z Flip 4, Tab S8 series) ends the road at One UI 8.x.

All of these phones will keep getting security patches for a while, but no new Android versions. If yours is on either list, it’s a good time to start thinking about an upgrade — every Galaxy launched since the S24 gets seven years of OS updates, so your next phone will age far better than your current one.

And if your phone is on the ineligible list above, it may still have one update left in it, check whether it’s in line for Samsung’s One UI 8.5 update.

To keep the list short and relevant, we only included devices that received the One UI 8.0 update but won’t receive One UI 9.0. That’s why you don’t see the Galaxy S21 on the list.

If your Samsung device is on the list, it’s unlikely to receive the Android 17 update. The device may still receive security updates for a while, but it’s best to upgrade to a newer model to keep receiving the newest features and upgrades.

Check out the list of Galaxy devices eligible for seven major OS updates or six major OS updates to find the next best upgrade for you.

While the One UI 9 beta program is currently restricted to the Galaxy S26 phones, Samsung is internally testing the Android 17-based build on many other Galaxy devices, including some mid-range phones. This could mean the company might soon allow them to take part in the beta program.

Here’s a list of Galaxy devices that have been spotted on Samsung’s servers with a One UI 9.0 test firmware:

Galaxy S25

Galaxy S25+

Galaxy S25 Ultra

Galaxy A57

Galaxy A34

Galaxy A17 5G

Galaxy Z Fold 8 (unreleased)

Galaxy Z Flip 8 (unreleased)

Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra (unreleased)

Galaxy Z Fold 7

Well, this doesn’t guarantee a quicker One UI 9 release for these devices, but it could mean Samsung may be looking to expand the ongoing beta program to them. We’ll let you know when that happens.

The One UI 9 beta program is currently available for the Galaxy S26, S26+, and S26 Ultra, with no official announcement regarding its expansion. However, based on past releases, we can confidently say the beta expansion to other Galaxy devices should be around the corner.

The stable One UI 9 software, based on Android 17, is expected to debut with the upcoming foldable phones – the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Galaxy Z Flip 8, and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. Rumors say these devices will be unveiled on July 22.

Last Updated: July 16, 2026

Samsung’s One UI 8.5 rollout is all but wrapped up, and attention has fully shifted to the bigger release: One UI 9, based on Android 17. The beta program on the Galaxy S26 series has already reached its fourth build, and Samsung is internally testing the update on more than two dozen devices, including budget models like the Galaxy A07, A17, and A16 5G, all of which appear on the list below.

As the One UI 9 beta kicks off, the big question is: will your Galaxy device receive the next major upgrade?

The short answer: As of July 2026, Samsung’s One UI 9 (Android 17) is confirmed or expected for the Galaxy S23 series and newer, foldables from the Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5 onward, and most Galaxy A, M, and F-series models from 2024 or later. The rollout begins July 22 with the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Z Flip 8, with older devices following in stages through late 2026.

We’ve put together a full list of eligible devices for the next major upgrade. Review the list below to find out if yours is included.

It’s important to note that Samsung hasn’t officially announced the list yet. However, we already know which Galaxy devices will receive the update, thanks to Samsung’s clear-cut software update policy. Based on this, we’ve prepared a comprehensive list that shouldn’t differ from the official one when announced.

One UI 9.0 will debut pre-installed on the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Z Flip 8 at Samsung’s Unpacked event on July 22. From there, expect a staged rollout: the Galaxy S25 series should be first in line around August, followed by the S24 generation in September, with the S23 series and older mid-rangers closing out the year. If you’re on a Galaxy S23, note that One UI 9 is expected to be that generation’s final major Android upgrade.

If your Galaxy is a 2022 model or older, check the other side of this list first — these are the Samsung devices that won’t receive One UI 9.0.

Samsung has confirmed that a second wave of the One UI 9 beta rollout will begin later this month for Galaxy S26 users in additional regions. The Android 17-based software was recently introduced in limited markets, and the company is now preparing to expand beta access gradually. Apart from visual changes, the update also introduces AI-focused features, customisation improvements and stronger security tools.

One UI 9 beta expands to more Galaxy S26 users

One UI 9 beta

According to Samsung, the second phase of the One UI 9 beta rollout will begin on May 26. The company had previously announced beta availability for countries including India, the US, the UK, Germany, South Korea and Poland, although not all users received access during the first phase. Galaxy S26 owners can register for the beta program through the Samsung Members app once it becomes available in their region.

One UI 9 introduces several interface changes across the system. Samsung has redesigned the Quick Panel, allowing users to independently adjust the size and placement of controls for brightness, media playback and sound. The update also adds new features to Samsung Notes, including additional pen styles and decorative tape effects aimed at improving journaling and note customization.

Samsung has also integrated Creative Studio tools inside the Notes app, allowing users to create profile cards without switching between multiple applications. Accessibility features have been improved as well, with adjustable Mouse Key speeds and enhanced TalkBack integration. A new Text Spotlight feature enlarges selected text inside a floating window to make reading easier.

The company says One UI 9 also focuses heavily on proactive security. The software can reportedly detect suspicious or potentially harmful apps more aggressively and warn users before installation or execution. Samsung may also recommend deleting risky applications through updated security policies.

While the beta is currently limited to the Galaxy S26 lineup, Samsung is already rolling out stable One UI 8.5 updates for older devices, which suggests wider One UI 9 beta support could arrive later. The stable version of One UI 9 is expected to debut alongside Samsung’s next flagship Galaxy smartphones later this year. Which One UI 9 feature are you most excited to try on your Galaxy device?

Samsung appears to be preparing a subtle yet noticeable visual change for its next major software update. Early leaks around One UI 9 indicate that the company is refining how its media player looks and reacts during playback, hinting at a more immersive experience.

One UI 9 media player may get dynamic color integration

In One UI 9, Media Player seek bar changes its color as per the song

Looks so cool pic.twitter.com/RGOflA2fXe
— Tarun Vats (@tarunvats33) May 2, 2026

Information shared by tipsters Tarun Vats and Rajesh Rajput suggests that the media player in One UI 9 could feature colour-shifting elements. Instead of sticking to a fixed design, the playback bar and interface accents adapt based on the album art of the track being played. This creates a more responsive visual layer that changes in real time as users switch songs.

Screenshots indicate that this effect also extends to the Now Bar, where colours appear to blend with the overall interface. The shift is subtle but adds a sense of continuity between content and UI. The idea is to make the interface feel more connected to what the user is listening to, rather than remaining static.

In One UI 9, the media player seek bar dynamically changes color based on the album theme.

Such a subtle touch, but it looks insanely cool pic.twitter.com/BxG2OqrDeC
— Rajesh Rajput (Technobuzz) (@iRaj_r) May 2, 2026

This approach aligns with a broader trend where software interfaces adapt dynamically to content. By syncing colours with music, Samsung appears to be focusing on making everyday interactions feel more engaging without adding complexity to the user experience.

Work on One UI 9, which is expected to be based on Android 17, has already begun internally. Early builds were spotted running on the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S26 series as far back as March. Since then, more glimpses of the software have surfaced through leaked images and short clips.

The same source, Tarun Vats, has previously shared accurate timelines for earlier One UI releases and Galaxy launches, which adds credibility to this update. The redesigned media player is likely to debut with upcoming foldable devices such as the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8.

One UI 8.0 is already out, One UI 8.5 is still in testing, and now the first signs of One UI 9 are starting to appear.

Internal firmware leaks suggest Samsung has begun early testing of the Android 17-based update, even though its public debut is likely still months away. If Samsung sticks to its usual cadence, One UI 9 could launch alongside mid-2026 foldables like the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Z Flip 8. For now, the changes we’re seeing are subtle, but interesting.

The floating action elements introduced in 8.5 remain, and the page now features a refreshed background graphic that feels more modern. At the top, there are two prominent controls: a back arrow on the left and a hamburger-style menu on the right for extra options.

An “Ask AI” button

The bigger story may actually be happening inside Samsung Internet. Early One UI 9 builds appear to introduce a new “Compact” layout option. This mode shifts toward a more immersive interface, with a redesigned bottom bar that groups search, recent tabs, menu access, and notably, an “Ask AI” button. That’s where things get interesting.

The feature is reportedly powered by Perplexity AI and builds on Samsung’s broader AI push. Instead of just summarizing a page, the tool can analyze what you’re reading and respond to contextual questions. In some cases, it can even factor in browsing history to provide more tailored answers, like comparing product prices or extracting key insights from long articles.

Responses appear in a structured, chat-style format, and conversation history can be managed for privacy. It’s expected to be limited to Galaxy AI-supported flagship devices, at least initially.

If this rolls out widely, Samsung Internet could become more than just an alternative to Chrome for Galaxy users.

While One UI 8.5 focused largely on visual refinements and wallpaper changes, One UI 9 appears to be more about embedding intelligence into everyday tasks.

While the One UI 8.5 release is yet to happen, Samsung is already laying the groundwork for its next major release, One UI 9. A few Galaxy devices have been spotted on Samsung’s test servers with new build versions pointing to One UI 9.

The Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Flip 8 were the first phones to show up on the server with One UI 9 test builds (1, 2). Both foldables will launch around July 2026 with One UI 9 right from the box.

Perhaps the most intriguing is the appearance of a mysterious third device with the modem number SM-F971U running the build version F971USQU0AZB1. This could mean Samsung might also launch a third foldable phone alongside the Fold 8 and Flip 8 in the second half. We don’t know what it would be called, but rumors say this could be the Galaxy Wide Fold.

Alongside these three upcoming foldable phones, the One UI 9 test build has also been spotted for the Galaxy Z Fold 7. This is kind of surprising, as the Galaxy Z Fold 7 hasn’t even received the One UI 8.5 update.

So, here’s a list of Samsung devices that are currently under One UI 9 testing:

Galaxy Z Fold 8

Galaxy Z Flip 8

Galaxy Wide Fold (name unconfirmed)

Galaxy Z Fold 7

The list is currently small, as Samsung began testing One UI 9 just recently. It will grow in the coming days, especially after the One UI 8.5 release, when more of the company’s focus will shift towards One UI 9.

It’s important to highlight that One UI 9 testing is happening internally, so you can’t download and test the firmware on your Galaxy device. The presence of such test builds on the server indicates that the company is testing the firmware behind closed doors to ensure a stable, smooth rollout in the future.

While Samsung has begun development of One UI 9 for its Galaxy devices, its primary focus will be the Galaxy S26 series, which is launching later this month with One UI 8.5. In late April, we might see One UI 8.5 rolling out to older Galaxy devices. You can check the list of eligible devices here.
