Samsung launched the Galaxy M11 in the first half of 2020. Since, its debut, the smartphone has received multiple price cuts, at least in India. Almost a year after its announcement, the device has started receiving the Android 11 update.

The Android 11 update for the Samsung Galaxy M11 arrives as One UI Core 3.1. According to a report by SamMobile, this update is currently live in Vietnam.

The latest system update for the South Korean tech giant’s budget smartphone comes with firmware version M115FXXU2BUD8. Apart from bringing Android 11 and the new One UI features, the new update also bumps up the security patch level to April 2021.

Users in Vietnam can head over to Settings > Software update > Download and install to check whether their unit has received the Android 11-based One UI Core 3.1 update. Users in other markets can also try this since they should also get this update in the coming days.

That said, the Samsung Galaxy M11 launched with One UI 2.x based on Android 10. Hence, One UI Core 3.1 (Android 11) is the handset’s first-ever major system update. It is not sure whether this phone will be receiving Android 12 in the future. However, it has been confirmed to get at least four years of security updates.

Last week, Samsung started rolling out the Android 11-based One UI Core 3.1 update for the Galaxy A01. A few days later, the company is now seeding this very same update for the Galaxy M01, which is a rebranded Galaxy A01. Additionally, the Android 11 update is also being rolled out for the Galaxy A41 as One UI 3.1.

The Samsung Galaxy M01 Android 11 (One UI Core 3.1) update arrives with firmware version M015GXXU3BUD9. Apart from bringing new features and UI, the latest system update for this entry-level smartphone also bumps up the security patch level to April 2021.

On the other hand, the Android 11 (One UI 3.1) update for the Samsung Galaxy A41 is currently live in Russia with firmware version A415FXXU1CUD4. It also comes with April 2021 security patches.

Users of these two smartphones can head over to Settings > Software update > Download and install to check whether their unit has received the update. 

Anyway, like any other software update, this OTA update is also being pushed in batches across different regions. Therefore, it may take some time to hit every unit in the market.

Lastly, it is worth noting that Android 11 is the first-ever major software update for these two phones. However, we are not sure if the cheaper Galaxy M01 will receive Android 12 in the future.

The Samsung Galaxy A01 was the cheapest Galaxy A series smartphone when it was released. The handset debuted with One UI Core 2.x. More than a year after its launch, the handset has started receiving its first major update.

According to a report by SamMobile, Galaxy A01, an entry-level Samsung smartphone has begun to receive its firm-ever major system update in the form of One UI Core 3.1 based on Android 11. The device was expected to get the update in May or later, however, the company is rolling it out earlier.

Currently, the South Korean tech giant is seeding this update in Russia with firmware version A015FXXU4BUD8. Apart from bringing the Android 11 features and a select few new One UI features, the new build also features April 2021 security patches.

Users of this phone in Russia can head over to Settings > Software update > Download and install to check whether their unit has got the OTA update. If not, they will have to wait a bit further because it is being rolled out in batches.

We can expect Samsung to seed this update in other regions in the coming days. Since the Galaxy A01 is an entry-level smartphone, it is not sure if it will be receiving the Android 12 update in the future. However, we can expect security patches for a while.

Samsung launched the Galaxy A42 5G with Android 10 OS out of the box. Now, it is getting the Android 11 update. On the other hand, the Galaxy M31, which was the first budget device to get the Android 11 update, is now getting the incremental One UI Core 3.1.

A new update with firmware version A426BXXU1BUB7 is rolling out to the users of Galaxy A42 5G in the Netherlands. This update brings the latest One UI 3.1 based on Android 11. Also, this is a direct jump from the One UI 2.5. Samsung initially started its Android 11 rollout process with One UI 3.0 on top.

However, it switched tracks to One UI 3.1 after the Galaxy S21 launch. Anyway, the update brings Android 11 features and the latest One UI 3.1 improvements like revamped UI, improved stock apps, One-time permissions and Permissions auto-reset, Dedicated Media Player widget(in Quick settings), and more.

Parallelly, the Samsung Galaxy M31 is getting the incremental One UI Core 3.1. Earlier, the company had rolled out the One UI Core 3.0 along with the Android 11 update to the budget device.

An OTA update with firmware version M315FXXU2BUC1 weighing about 1.193GB in size is now rolling out to the users of Galaxy M31 in India. The changelog says improvements to camera, performance, and security. However, as the UI is now incremented, it should get features like the Galaxy M31s.

It’s worth noting that the updates for both these devices include the latest March 2021 security patch. If you are someone living in either of these regions, do sure to check for the OTA(Over The Air) update by navigating to Settings > Software update > Download and install.

Considering Samsung is in another league when it comes to updating its older devices, this update should expand to other regions in no time.

Unlike many Samsung budget smartphones, the Galaxy M51 did not receive the One UI Core 2.5 update. It also did not get the One UI Core 3.0 (Android 11) update. Instead, the South Korean tech giant is updating it directly to One UI Core 3.1.

In other words, the Galaxy M51 is the first Galaxy M series smartphone to get the One UI 3.1 Core update based on Android 11.

According to SamMobile, the update for this device is currently live in Russia with firmware version M515FXXU2CUB7. Apart from bringing Android 11 and new features, the latest system update for the Galaxy M51 also bumps up the security patch level to March 2021.

Right now, the software build is being pushed in batches, and therefore, it may take time to reach every unit in the country. Also, we can expect Samsung to extend the availability of this update to more regions in the coming days.

Samsung has been swiftly updating its devices with the latest One UI 3.0 based on Android 11. Right after the initial developer beta, it powered through the beta program for present and yesteryear flagships to reach the stable update stage this month. And now, it has come down to the budget M series of devices.

As Sammobile reports, Samsung has finally announced the beta program for the Galaxy M31 in India. To get things out of the way, for the Beta program, you need to enroll via the Samsung Members App. After opening the app, you will see a One UI banner. Click on that to complete the registration process.

Anyway, the first One UI Core 3.0 Beta carrying the firmware version M315FDDU2ZTLF will rollout to the registered devices. It brings the new Android 11 OS upgrade and December 2020 security patch along with it. That said, we advise you to be wary of the initial Beta build as there is a possibility of bugs.

Apart from the Android 11 features like chat bubbles, revamped notifications you should also see new features of One UI 3.0 in the update. However, since this is a budget device, Samsung might limit certain features of the One UI Core. In case you don’t know, Samsung uses One UI Core instead of full-fledged One UI for budget devices like the M-series.

Nevertheless, the early Beta signals a stable update sooner than the scheduled timeline(March 2021) for the device. If you are living in India, you can check for the first Beta(after registering) by navigating to Settings->Software Update-> Download and Install.

Samsung announced the One UI 3.0 back in August. It has already updated the flagships like the Galaxy S20 series(incl S20 FE), Note 20 series, Galaxy S10 Lite, and Z Flip 5G.
