OnePlus 10T durability test failure – Company responds

OnePlus recently launched the OnePlus 10T in the global market, and as per usual, the device was put through popular Youtuber JerryRigEverything‘s durability test. As we already know, the device failed the bend test and snapped in half, just like the OnePlus 10 Pro.

We could imagine this has been quite a PR nightmare for OnePlus as the test has questioned the device’s structural durability. Now, the brand has finally put out a statement addressing the issue.

OnePlus said, “The OnePlus 10T meets or exceeds all of OnePlus’ extensive durability testing procedures, this includes a pressure test where the device is suspended while weight is applied to its center on both its front and back. The OnePlus 10T has an enhanced structure engineering design and can bear over 45kg of external force in this test at OnePlus’ lab.”

“When designing, engineering, and manufacturing OnePlus devices, we ensure they not only offer a design that is beautiful and burdenless but is also durable so they can withstand everyday usage,” the Chinese brand added.

Going by these statements, it appears that OnePlus is still not ready to admit any flaw in the new camera design which has been at the epicenter of these breaks. It is worth pointing out that JerryRigEverything’s bend test is meant to demonstrate extreme conditions and the daily user will likely not be bending their smartphones with such force.

However, it is quite clear that OnePlus is behind its competitors when it comes to structural durability. Hopefully, the brand fixes these issues with its next flagship series of smartphones. Till then, we advise OnePlus 10T and 10 Pro users to use their devices with a back cover on.

Chinese tech giant OnePlus has officially announced its latest flagship smartphone. The OnePlus 10T 5G was unveiled at a live event held in New York and streamed live on YouTube. The 10T is coming two years after OnePlus last updated the T-series smartphones, having skipped the 9T last year.

Design & Display

The OnePlus adopts a unique design similar to that of the OnePlus 10 Pro. It packs a large square camera bump on its rear. The device packs a 6.7-inch OLED screen with a resolution of 1080 x 2412 pixels and support for HDR10+ standard, up to 120Hz refresh rate, and 10-bit color depth. It should be noted that the OLED panel is less sophisticated than the LTPO2 panel used on the 10 Pro. The phone comes in two color options – Moonstone Black and Jade Green.

Specifications

The OnePlus 10T 5G packs an upgraded Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 CPU paired with 8GB RAM or 16GB RAM. The device comes in 128GB or 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. OnePlus will provide a 12GB+256GB option to buyers in India.

The OnePlus 10T will run on OxygenOS 12.1 out of the box

In terms of the battery, the phone crams a 4,800mAh battery under the hood but you won’t have to worry about running out of battery as it supports 150W SuperVOOC fast charging. The phone comes with a 160W power adapter inside the box. However, the device’s maximum charging power in nations using 110V power outlets is 125W.

The Battery Health Engine feature which OnePlus introduced onboard the device is said to drastically reduce the battery’s long-term wear. Approximately 80% of the battery’s capacity is expected to remain after 1,600 charging cycles.

Camera

The OnePlus 10T comes with a significant downgrade in the camera hardware in comparison to the 10 Pro in order to keep the price low. The widely utilized and largely underwhelming 8MP ultrawide and 2MP macro cameras are employed in place of the sophisticated ultrawide camera and the 3x telephoto unit. The device retains the 50MP Sony IMX766 main sensor used on the 10 Pro which is impressive. It is combined with an optically stabilized lens and a wide f/1.8 aperture.

For selfies, the device packs a 16MP sensor with large 1.0 mm pixels and an f/.2.4 aperture.

OnePlus 10T Pricing & Availability

The most anticipated part of the launch was obviously the pricing details and it is far from disappointing. The OnePlus 10T 5G starts at $649 in North America for the 8GB+128GB model. The higher model is priced at $749. In the US, preorders open on September 1 at OnePlus’ own store, Amazon and Best Buy, while it will start shipping on September 29.

For buyers in Europe, UK and India, pre-orders open today with shipments to follow on August 25. The base 8GB+128GB model starts at €699/£629, while the 12/256GB version is €799/£729.

The OnePlus 10T 5G starts at Rs 49,999 for the 8GB+128GB model. The 12GB+256Gb variant is priced at Rs 54,999 while the top model with 16GB RAM and 256GB storage will retail for Rs 55,999.

OnePlus is gearing up to launch a new flagship-tier device in the global market dubbed the OnePlus 10T on August 3rd. The device will also launch in China on the same day as the OnePlus Ace Pro.

Ahead of the launch, the company has teased some of the specifications of the OnePlus Ace Pro already. These include the industry-first eight-channel vapor chamber, 150W fast charging, and 16GB RAM+ 256GB storage variant. Now, the brand has also teased the display specs of the Ace Pro, so let’s take a look at the details.

The official teaser reveals that the smartphone will come with a 6.7-inch AMOLED display. The display will have a 120Hz refresh rate and a 720Hz touch sampling rate. It will feature support for HDR10+ and will also be capable of producing 1.07 billion colors. Lastly, the teaser states that the phone will come with super thin bezels measuring just 1.48mm in thickness. The teaser does not reveal the resolution of the device, but leaks so far have suggested that it will be a Full HD+ resolution panel with a 20:9 aspect ratio.

As for other details about the device, it will be equipped with the latest Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 flagship chipset, which will come paired with up to 16GB of RAM and 256GB of storage in the Indian market. As for China, a 16GB + 512GB variant is rumored.

The camera setup is said to include a 50-megapixel Sony IMX766 primary sensor with OIS support, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera, and a 2-megapixel macro camera. Last week, OnePlus confirmed that its upcoming premium smartphone dubbed the OnePlus 10T will launch on August 3 in the global market. The brand also confirmed that this would be the company’s first in-person event since the pandemic began, and will be hosted at Gotham Hall, New York City.

As we know, India is a significant market for OnePlus. So, the brand has announced a launch premiere for its community in India. Earlier today, OnePlus dropped an official teaser of its upcoming smartphone, the OnePlus 10T. Now, the company’s co-founder and CEO Pete Lau has confirmed the global launch date of the device.

Pete made the official announcement with a OnePlus community forum post that states the device will be launching on August 3rd. Unlike the launch events of recent, the company will host an in-person event this time that will take place in Gotham Hall, New York City.

The post also confirmed that the device will debut with the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset, and will be among the first devices from the brand to be upgraded to OxgenOS 13 when the operating system launches. Other than that, the brand promises that people who purchase a ticket for the offline event will get top-tier merchandise along with the OnePlus Nord Buds.

Now, a fresh report by PriceBaba has revealed the Indian launch timeline along with the first sale date of the device in the country. According to the report, the OnePlus 10T is said to launch between July 25th and August 1st in the country. The device will be available for purchase in the first week of August and will be sold exclusively by Amazon in India. OnePlus 10T allegedly beats OnePlus 10 Pro in gaming, testing begins in India

OnePlus is gearing up to soon launch the OnePlus 10T smartphone. So far, it has been subject to a couple of render leaks and a specification leak which revealed that the device will come with the new Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset.

Now, tipster Yogesh Brar has revealed the gaming benchmarks of the smartphone which show it performing better that the OnePlus 10 Pro. According to the tipster, the OnePlus 10T (CPH2413), which will be an upper mid-range device, managed 57 FPS on average while playing Genshin impact at extreme settings. If we compare it to the OnePlus 10 Pro, the flagship manages 55 FPS on average with the same settings.

What’s impressive about this feat is that the smartphone manages to achieve a better average FPS while also maintaining a cooler average temperature. According to the tipster, the device reached temperatures between 43-46° during this test whereas the OnePlus 10 Pro reached temps between 45-49°. It appears that Qualcomm’s claims about the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 offering better performance and better thermals are indeed true. This can be credited to the fact that the chip is made on TCMC’s 4nm node whereas the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset is made on Samsung’s 4nm process.

In April, well-known tipster Steve Hemmerstoffer leaked the specs of a OnePlus flagship. At that time, he assumed it could be related to the OnePlus 10. However, he now believes that the leak could be related to the OnePlus 10T 5G.

However, the company has still not confirmed or denied the launch of the much-awaited Vanilla OnePlus 10, but tipster Yogesh Brar is here to rectify that.

OnePlus surprised us this year by not releasing a vanilla version of the OnePlus 10, but instead going straight to the OnePlus 10 Pro. We were hoping that the company would make up for that with a new OnePlus 10 Ultra. However, according to a new report, there is going to be no “Ultra”. OnePlus will instead launch a new “T” series smartphone, dubbed OnePlus 10T 5G.

According to a tweet by Max Jambor, OnePlus is working on a “OnePlus 10T” flagship and it is going to be the last flagship coming from the brand this year. Furthermore, in the comments of the same tweet, Jambor replied, shattering our hopes, that there will be no OnePlus 10 Ultra.

Jambor confirmed that the OnePlus 10T is in fact the rumored Vanilla OnePlus 10 and Ultra. Multiple sources have already stated that the OnePlus 10 lineup includes an “Ultra” model so it is possible that the OnePlus 10T 5G could be a rebranded version of the smartphone shown in earlier leaks.

If the OnePlus 10T 5G is indeed the long-rumored OnePlus 10 Ultra, then we can expect it to feature Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chip and 150W wired fast charging support.
