OnePlus has started rolling out the OxygenOS 16.0.5.700 update for the OnePlus 15 and the OnePlus 13s in India. The update is currently being released in batches as an incremental OTA. A small number of users are receiving it first, with a wider rollout expected in the coming days.

For the OnePlus 15, the update carries the firmware version CPH2745_16.0.5.700(EX01) in the Indian region. The OnePlus 13s update arrives with the version CPH2723_16.0.5.700(EX01).

The update introduces several improvements aimed at productivity and usability. Both devices now support multiple simultaneous timers, allowing users to run several timers at once for better multitasking. The timer interface has also been updated to show estimated stop times, making it easier to track when each timer will finish.

The Content Portal has also been updated and now supports app clones, enabling easier content sharing between apps or accounts.

Connectivity features have also been refined. A new “Automatically open received files” option has been added. This switch lets users choose whether files received through sharing services should open automatically after being downloaded.

The OnePlus 13s receives an additional accessibility feature called Motion cues. This option helps reduce motion sickness when using the phone in moving vehicles. It can be enabled by navigating to Settings → Accessibility & convenience → Motion cues.

Both devices also receive the March 2026 Android security patch, which improves overall system security and stability.

Since the update is being rolled out gradually, some users may need to wait a few days before receiving the notification.

If you have not received the OTA notification yet, you can manually check for the update using these steps:

1. Open Settings on your phone.
2. Scroll down and tap About device.
3. Select OxygenOS version.

The Photos app can now edit images up to 50 million pixels without losing quality. This is a major improvement for users working with high-resolution photos.

The update adds bypass charging. When you’re gaming, live streaming, watching videos, navigating, or doing other demanding tasks, you can plug in your charger and the phone will draw power directly from it instead of the battery. This keeps your battery healthy and reduces overheating during long sessions.

OnePlus has commenced a phased rollout of OxygenOS 15.0.2.601 for the OnePlus 13s (review) in India. The update, identified by build number CPH2723_15.0.2.601(EX01), is reaching a limited user group before a wider release.

This new software introduces several key feature updates. Lock screen animations for Live Alerts and notifications have been improved. The Photos app now includes a “map album,” which plots geotagged images on a map. Privacy features are enhanced, allowing users to change their privacy password from secondary pages within Private Safe and Photos’ Locked album. Additionally, images restored from a Private album will now reappear in their original folders.

Digital wellbeing tools have also been refined. Users can now access daily and weekly screen time statistics in App Management, located within Phone Manager. The IR Remote application sees an improved layout for control panel buttons.

The update integrates the September 2025 Android security patch, strengthening device security. The over-the-air (OTA) rollout is incremental, with a small user percentage receiving the update first. Users can manually check for the update by navigating to Settings > System > System Updates.

OnePlus has also recently published its August 2025 OxygenOS FAQ, addressing issues related to the Google dialer pad font size, limitations of the Private Safe feature, and restrictions of BeaconLink short-range calling.

Last year, when I got the Galaxy S24 Ultra, I thought I had finally settled into the perfect smartphone. It was reliable, packed with AI features, and offered one of the best displays in the business. But earlier this year, I decided to give the OnePlus 13s a try, intrigued by its compact design and beefy specs.

Now, after 90 days of using the OnePlus 13s (review), I can say it has been difficult for me to go back to the S24 Ultra. This is not because the Samsung flagship is lacking, but because the OnePlus 13s offers a combination of performance, efficiency, and value that feels very hard to ignore.

Design and feel in hand

The Galaxy S24 Ultra is built like a tank, quite sturdy and premium, with a flat display that makes it easier to handle compared to previous curved models. Yet, the OnePlus 13s feels lighter, sleeker, and more modern in the hand. Its refined design lines and ergonomic build give it an edge in everyday usage.

Since I have been using the S24 Ultra with a sturdy case for several months, the total weight comes close to 250 grams. The OnePlus 13s, even after using a case, weighs around 200 grams. That 50-gram difference may not sound like much on paper, but in daily use it makes the OnePlus 13s far more comfortable to carry and hold. This is one of those subtle things that makes me feel good each time I pick it up.

Performance that pushes ahead

The Galaxy S24 Ultra is no slouch in performance – the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy is still incredibly powerful. But the OnePlus 13s brings Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Elite, which makes a visible difference in both speed and efficiency.

Multitasking feels instant, app switching is seamless, and gaming performance is top-tier. The thermals are also better managed, meaning I can push the device harder without worrying about heat buildup. It is not just raw performance, it is the way the phone stays consistently smooth across tasks that impressed me most.

One of the biggest reasons I found it difficult to move back to the S24 Ultra is the battery experience on the OnePlus 13s. The phone packs a 5,850mAh battery, and coupled with the new chip’s efficiency, it comfortably lasts well beyond a day of heavy use.

While the S24 Ultra offered decent endurance, I often needed to top it up by evening after long days of shooting photos or making calls. With the OnePlus 13s, I find myself charging less frequently. And when I do need a top-up, the ultra-fast wired charging makes the experience hassle-free.

AI features that feel practical

Samsung emphasized Galaxy AI when it launched the S24 series, and I did find many of those features useful. The OnePlus 13s, however, takes a slightly different approach. Its AI integration is powered by AI Mind Plus, a feature that offers context-aware assistance for everyday use.

Using the Plus Key or a three-finger swipe, anything on your screen can be instantly saved to the Mind Space app, where it’s neatly sorted, searchable in natural language, and enhanced with smart suggestions like reminders or calendar entries.

The AI features on the OnePlus 13s does not feel overwhelming or overly branded, but rather seamlessly integrated into the core OxygenOS experience.

Cameras – Strengths and limitations

The S24 Ultra has one of the best camera systems in the industry, particularly with its telephoto capabilities. I enjoyed using it for product photography and landscapes. The OnePlus 13s, on the other hand, offers a dual 50-megapixel camera setup, comprising a main sensor and a telephoto.

In most conditions, the results are sharp, colours look natural, and the shutter response is quick. For me, the dual setup is manageable and I rarely found myself missing an ultrawide sensor. However, for those who rely on ultrawide shots, its absence could feel like a limitation. This is one department that OnePlus may want to upgrade in the next generation.

Price and availability

Perhaps the most significant factor in why I switched is pricing. The Galaxy S24 Ultra launched at a premium price point above Rs 1,20,000, putting it firmly in the ultra-flagship tier. The OnePlus 13s, on the other hand, delivers flagship-level performance and design for a much lower cost.

This value proposition cannot be ignored. The fact that I am getting performance ahead of most 2024 flagships, along with a bigger battery and refined software, at a more approachable price, makes the OnePlus 13s extremely compelling.

Living with the OnePlus 13s

After 90 days, the OnePlus 13s has not only impressed me but also changed the way I think about flagships. Samsung remains excellent in many areas, but switching back feels difficult because the OnePlus device has made daily life more convenient. From lighter design to longer endurance and smarter software touches, it feels like the right fit for my routine.

It is not about one phone being better in every possible way, it is about which one makes the most sense for me day to day. Right now, that is the OnePlus 13s.

Final thoughts

The S24 Ultra still has its strengths, particularly in bigger display size quality and camera zoom, but the OnePlus 13s leads across crucial areas – performance, design, battery, AI features, and pricing.

That combination makes it tough for me to go back. At the end of the day, the OnePlus 13s feels like a flagship that not only competes with the biggest names in the industry but also challenges the way we think about value in premium smartphones.

OnePlus has started the incremental rollout of OxygenOS 15.0.2.501 for the OnePlus 13s in India. The update, version CPH2723_15.0.2.501(EX01), is currently reaching users in batches, with a small percentage receiving it first. A wider rollout will follow in the next few days.

The update improves animations for opening, repositioning, and resizing floating windows. Split View has been upgraded, with no fixed ratio limits. Users can now adjust the ratio between two apps as needed. In landscape mode, the divider between apps can be dragged to change their sizes. Notifications in landscape now appear as simplified banners to reduce interruptions, and swiping down on a banner opens the app in a floating window.

A new feature, BeaconLink, lets users send text, image, and voice messages to nearby devices without an internet connection. It can be found in Settings > Mobile network > BeaconLink.

Bug reporting is now easier. Users can submit reports directly from the OnePlus Community App under the Bug Report section in their profile. Another option is to dial *#800# to open the feedback tool.

This is an incremental OTA release. The first wave of users will get it today, and more devices will receive it after initial checks confirm stability.

So seeing a brand new premium model being affected by this issue once again raises concerns. If there are any kind of quality issues with the screen, we can expect to see more reports surface. On the display side, the Vivo X200 FE has a marginally smaller 6.31-inch LTPO AMOLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, FHD+ resolution, 2160Hz PWM dimming, and up to 5000 nits of peak brightness. Meanwhile, OnePlus 13s sports a 6.32-inch LTPO AMOLED panel with 1.5K resolution as well as a 120Hz refresh rate. While the brightness levels tops out at 1600 nits, you get Dolby Vision support as well. So the Vivo X200 FE clearly has some advantages in both design and display here. But what about performance?

Performance

While OnePlus is a step behind in the Ingress rating and display brightness, it more than makes up for it in terms of raw performance. The Snapdragon 8 Elite on the OnePlus 13s is a true flagship chip that allows for better performance and power efficiency over last gen chips. Even for gaming, it is simply the better phone.

On the other hand, the Vivo X200 FE has an older but still powerful Dimensity 9300+. While this chip doesn’t match the Snapdragon 8 Elite in horsepower, in most games and day to day use, one would be hard pressed to feel a difference. This is a flagship chip from 2024 and easily holds up a year later. But if you play graphically intense games or want the best of the best, OnePlus 13s emerges the victor here.

Camera

Vivo, once again, takes the lead with a more capable and versatile camera system. It packs a triple camera setup that consists of a 50MP Sony IMX921 primary sensor, 8MP ultra wide angle lens, and another 50MP Sony IMX882 telephoto shooter with x optical zoom. For selfies and video calls, you get a 50MP shooter with auto focus. Pairing this with Zeiss tuning, you get excellent pictures as the camera system is nearly identical to the Vivo X200 flagship model.

In comparison, OnePlus skips the Hasselblad tuning on the OnePlus 13s. So even with the same sensor as the Oppo Find X8 (50MP Sony LYT700), it lacks the various customization that Zeiss brings to the table. I’ve found the OnePlus 13s camera system to be competent but lacklustre as a “flagship” phone. You’re also missing an ultra wide angle lens, and only get a 2x optical zoom on the 50MP telephoto shooter. Lastly, you have a 32MP selfie camera with auto focus on the front.

Battery

OnePlus made headlines with the 13s thanks to its massive 5,850mAh battery pack. On a single full charge, I easily managed to squeeze 1.5 days worth of use from this phone, which charges up quickly with 90W wired fast charging. But Vivo has a definite win here with an even larger 6,500mAh cell with 80W wired fast charging. While the Snapdragon 8 Elite is more power efficient, this is a notable difference in battery capacity. In other words, the Vivo X200 FE is the better option for battery life.

Verdict

While I have yet to get my hands on the Vivo X200 FE, it does seem like the better deal here (at least on paper), since both models have an identical 54,999 INR starting price tag and storage configuration. But once you factor in aspects like OxygenOS with the new OnePlus AI, the overall feel of the UI makes a big difference. Unless you’re in a big hurry, stick around for more reviews to know for sure. However, in most scenarios, the X200 FE is a great deal.

Vivo T4 Ultra

Vivo positioned the T4 Ultra as a feature-rich midranger that flirts with flagship territory. You can now use voice or text to tell Gemini to do things for you. It can set alarms, check trips, or create notes. This means you don’t need to open different apps for basic tasks.

The OnePlus 13s can now control your Windows PC remotely. You can access PC files from your phone, too. This works the same way as the recent OnePlus 12 update. The update includes the June 2025 Android security patch.

OnePlus 13s price in India, color options

The OnePlus 13s starts at Rs 54,999 for the 12GB RAM + 256GB storage variant, while the 12GB + 512GB option is priced at Rs 59,999. Buyers can purchase the device online via OnePlus.in, OnePlus Store app, Amazon.in, and through offline outlets including OnePlus Experience Stores, Croma, Reliance Digital, Bajaj Electronics, Vijay Sales and more. The device comes in multiple color options, although OnePlus has not yet disclosed their exact names officially. Back in April 2025, we compared the OnePlus 13T with Google’s Pixel 9a. While the Pixel 9a is a “mid-range” phone according to Google, it is still expensive enough to compete with budget flagships like the OnePlus 13T. However, the 13T managed to outclass the Pixel 9a in more ways than one. Now, OnePlus has officially announced the OnePlus 13s (Review) as the global variant of the 13T, but it’s not a one-to-one copy. There are some changes, including upgrades and downgrades. So does it offer a better value over the Pixel 9a? Read on to find out.

OnePlus 13s vs Google Pixel 9a: Design & Display

Despite Google’s pricing of the Pixel 9a, this model features a plastic rear panel to cut corners. This is surrounded by an aluminum frame, but it’s definitely not as premium as the OnePlus 13s with its glass and metal design. The latter clearly offers a more flagship build quality on its compact phone.

Even in the display department, the OnePlus 13s has an edge thanks to the LTPO technology for a variable 1-120Hz refresh rate. But unlike the iPhone 16e, the Pixel 9a doesn’t suffer from the 60Hz refresh rate. To recall, the Pixel 9a sports a 6.3-inch pOLED display with a FHD+ resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and 2700 nits of peak brightness. Meanwhile, the OnePlus 13s has a 6.32-inch LPTO AMOLED screen with a 1.5K resolution, 1-120Hz refresh rate, and 1600 nits of peak brightness.

Performance

Just like the OnePlus 13 and OnePlus 13T, the OnePlus 13s is equipped with Qualcomm’s latest and greatest Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC. This chipset easily outperforms Google’s Tensor G4 chip. The Snapdragon processor is also the best chipset for gaming on an Android phone.

On the other hand, the Google Tensor places its focus on AI. But OnePlus’ AI is still quite capable and versatile, so you’re not losing AI functionality with the 13s. Since most users are not mobile gamers, the Tensor G4 can be sufficient for daily tasks, but the OnePlus 13s’ 3nm Snapdragon 3nm chip is quite power efficient as well. So you’re not trading performance for battery life. On that note, here’s another area where the OnePlus compact flagship blows past the Pixel.

Battery & Charging

OnePlus 13s has a smaller 5,850mAh battery pack compared to the 13T’s huge 6,260mAh cell. But it is still larger than even the huge Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra. Even with its thinner and lighter body, the 13s easily outclasses the Pixel 9a’s 5,100mAh battery. When you look at the charging speeds, the Pixel is once again left in the dust with its 23W wired fast charging against OnePlus’ 80W charging speed. But Google has a slight trick up its sleeve with the Pixel 9a, which supports 7.5W wireless charging.

Pricing

Google dropped the Pixel 9a with a starting price tag of 499 US Dollars for the 8GB + 128GB base model, with the 8GB + 256GB listed for 599 US Dollars. In the Indian market, the Pixel 9a only comes in the 256GB option for 49,999 INR. OnePlus just unveiled the OnePlus 13s for a 54,999 INR starting price for the 256GB configuration. But thanks to bank offers, it is available for 49,999 INR. Google’s Pixel 9a might be slightly cheaper depending on the region, but the OnePlus 13s is a better bet if it’s available in your region.

Apple finally announced a more affordable iPhone earlier this year with the iPhone 16e. Despite being one of the cheapest new iPhones, it still carries a hefty price tag. But after the OnePlus 13s launch (Review), the Chinese brand has a worthy contender in this budget premium phone category. So here are all the reasons the OnePlus 13s is a better pick over the iPhone 16e.

OnePlus 13s vs iPhone 16e: Smoother, Brighter, & Taller

The OnePlus 13s is just superior in terms of display. It sports a taller 6.32-inch OLED display that has a 1.5K resolution, 1600 nits of peak brightness, Dolby Vision, and 1-120Hz variable refresh rate thanks to LTPO technology. While the iPhone 16e has a more compact 6.1-inch OLED display, the screen only has a standard 60Hz refresh rate, FHD+ resolution, and up to 1200 nits of peak brightness.

Considering how even mid range or budget phones pack a higher refresh rate display, the iPhone 16e suffers from the same issue as the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus. In other words, the OnePlus 13s simply feels a lot more smoother to use.

Two Cameras Over One

Similar to the display department, the Cupertino based giant’s iPhone 16e disappoints in the camera department as well. Despite spending hundreds of dollars, the cheapest iPhone 16 series model only offers a single 48MP rear facing camera. Apple claims that this sensor does offer “optical quality-like” 2x zoom, but it is still an in-sensor crop. Meanwhile, the front houses a 12MP selfie shooter with auto focus.

The cameras are one of the biggest gripes I had with the OnePlus 13s, and it is still a better deal here. On the back, you get a 50MP main and 50MP telephoto shooter with 2x optical zoom. The primary sensor is bigger than the iPhone 16e’s camera, while the telephoto shooter offers true optical magnification. Even the selfie camera has a higher 32MP resolution with autofocus as well.

Battery Size and Charging

OnePlus shakes up the compact smartphone market with a humongous 5,850mAh battery pack on the OnePlus 13s. It also supports up to 80W wired fast charging. In comparison, the iPhone 16e arrives with a 4,005mAh (expected) cell and supports around 20W wired fast charging. So, in terms of both battery size and charging speeds, the OnePlus 13s is a clear winner once again.

Pricing

It isn’t a fair comparison if we don’t compare the pricing of the two devices. If the iPhone 16e was more affordable than the OnePlus 13s, the former might have had its own argument of having better value. But the iPhone 16e starts from 599 US Dollars or 59,999 INR in the Indian market for the 128GB base storage option. On the other hand, the OnePlus 13s sells for 54,999 INR for the 256GB standard option, which simply makes it a better deal unless you wish to stick to the Apple ecosystem.

The compact flagship space in India has been buzzing. Xiaomi’s 15 arrived in March, delivering top-tier hardware in a sleek, pocket-friendly form. OnePlus has now countered with the OnePlus 13s, which launched earlier this week, promising similar performance at a more aggressive price, along with its own hardware upgrades and signature design elements.

Both phones rely on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite chip and sharp 1.5K OLED displays. Beyond that, though, their approaches start to diverge. We have taken a close look at the specs, features, and overall value of each device to help you decide which one might suit you best.

Design and Build

Xiaomi has refined its compact flagship formula with the Xiaomi 15. It measures 152.3mm tall and 71.2mm wide, with a thickness of just 8.08mm and a light 181g body. The aluminum frame is flat and sharp-edged, but the rounded corners and narrow profile make it very comfortable for one-handed use. The Liquid Silver variant in particular stands out with a 3D hot-bent glass finish that shimmers and waves when touched.

The OnePlus 13s is slightly smaller, at 150.81mm tall, and about the same width at 71.7mm. It is a touch thicker at 8.15mm and slightly heavier at 185g. Where OnePlus has really focused is weight distribution and grip. The phone’s 50:50 balance combined with a curved 2.5D glass back makes it feel very planted in your palm. The India-exclusive Green Silk finish is also a fresh and premium take, with a soft Velvet Glass texture.

Both phones are well-built, but the Xiaomi 15 feels more industrial and angular, while the OnePlus 13s feels more organic and ergonomic. Pick based on what kind of aesthetic you prefer in your daily carry.

The OnePlus 13s sports a slightly smaller 6.32-inch LTPO AMOLED that peaks at 1600 nits, again with Dolby Vision support. It doesn’t get as bright as Xiaomi’s panel, and that will matter outdoors in direct sunlight. Still, it is a sharp, color-accurate display with good tuning out of the box.

For sheer screen performance, the Xiaomi 15 takes the edge here; its brightness and uniform bezels give it a visual clarity that is hard to beat.

Both devices are powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, paired with 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM. The Xiaomi 15 comes with 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage as standard, while the OnePlus 13s gives you a choice between 256GB and 512GB.

Thermal management is an area where both companies have put in effort. Xiaomi 15 uses the IceLoop Wing-Type System for triple the performance of traditional VC cooling. The OnePlus 13s employs a 4,400mm² Cryo-Velocity Vapor Chamber with an additional graphite layer on the back cover.

Software

Xiaomi ships the 15 with HyperOS 2 based on Android 15, while OnePlus runs OxygenOS 15 atop Android 15. Xiaomi also matches OnePlus on long-term software support, with four years of major OS updates and six years of security patches. That puts both phones on equal footing for longevity.

That said, the software experience is a different story. OxygenOS is still regarded as a cleaner, more fluid interface, closer to stock Android in spirit. HyperOS has improved a lot but can still feel heavier at times with more pre-installed apps. If you value simplicity, OnePlus still has a slight edge in software polish.

Camera

Xiaomi has thrown its full Leica-backed imaging system at the 15. It sports a 50MP 1/1.31″ main sensor with f/1.62 aperture, a 50MP ultra-wide, and a 50MP 2.6x telephoto, all tuned via the Xiaomi AISP 2.0 computational photography platform. You also get 8K video recording and a 32MP front camera capable of 4K 60fps video.

OnePlus takes a more streamlined approach with the 13s: a 50MP Sony LYT-700 main sensor and a 50MP 2x telephoto, but no ultra-wide camera. The front camera is a 32MP unit with autofocus and up to 4K 30fps recording.

Xiaomi clearly wins on versatility here. You simply get more camera options, better computational tuning, and a more complete package. The lack of an ultra-wide lens on the OnePlus 13s is a notable omission for a flagship in 2025.

Battery and Charging

The OnePlus 13s pairs its large 5,850mAh battery with 80W SuperVOOC wired charging and adds support for Bypass Charging. This is especially useful for gaming, as it lets you power the phone directly from the charger while keeping the battery cool and avoiding unnecessary charge cycles. It is a thoughtful feature that will appeal to power users and gamers alike.

Both smartphones are powered by Qualcomm’s flagship level Snapdragon processors. But the OnePlus 13s easily takes the lead with the newer Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC. This chip is faster, more energy efficient, better at AI tasks, and even offers better gaming performance than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 found on the OnePlus 13R.

However, this isn’t to say that the 13R is outdated, as it can still hold its own in most intensive scenarios like gaming. In day-to-day use, one would find it difficult to find any difference. Unless you need the extra horsepower or often play graphically intense games, the OnePlus 13R can definitely meet all your needs.

Battery: A close battle

A big gripe about compact phones was the trade-offs one would have to make for a more comfortable sized smartphone. But thanks to improvements in battery technology, this issue has finally been solved. The bigger OnePlus 13R packs a huge 6,000mAh battery. But the OnePlus 13s swings back with a slightly smaller but still notable 5,850mAh cell.

So regardless of which model you choose, you’re getting top notch battery performance. The Snapdragon 8 Elite with better energy efficiency, can technically bridge the gap in the battery capacity as well. For charging, both models support 80W wired fast charging.

Camera: One is more versatile

One of the biggest differences between the OnePlus 13R and the 13s is the cameras. The former features a triple camera setup compared to the dual rear cameras on the latter. So you get an 8MP ultra wide angle lens on the 13R, which is missing on the 13s. Although, the rest of the sensors are identical in both models. Meaning, the main camera is a 50MP Sony LYT700 and a 50MP telephoto shooter with 2x optical zoom.

But the OnePlus 13s has another trick up its sleeve as it features a better selfie camera. The small flagship houses a 32MP selfie shooter that supports autofocus and 4K@30fps video recording. In comparison, the 13R house a 16MP selfie camera with a fixed focus and 1080p@30fps video recording cap. Choosing between the two here gets difficult as many would’ve preferred an ultra wide angle lens at the back over a better selfie camera.

Pricing and Verdict

OnePlus sells the 13R for a starting price tag of 42,999 INR for the 12GB + 256GB base option. The standard OnePlus 13s 12GB + 256GB variant costs 54,999 INR. This isn’t a small price gap, and it would definitely make anyone think twice. So let’s break it down:

With compact flagships gaining more popularity, OnePlus finally caved and released the OnePlus 13T as its first ever small premium phone in China back in April. Now, the brand has just released the OnePlus 13s globally (Review). It was initially expected to be a simple rebranding for the overseas market, but there are some key differences here. So here’s everything new in the OnePlus 13s.

OnePlus 13s vs OnePlus 13T: Exclusive Color

At a glance, the OnePlus 13s and 13T appear practically identical to one another. Both measure 8.15mm in thickness and weigh 185 grams. You also get the new aluminum camera module on the back and a flat middle frame. However, the OnePlus 13T dropped in China in three color options, which include Morning Mist Gray, Heart-pounding Pink and Cloudy Ink Black. Meanwhile, the OnePlus 13s dropped in Black Velvet, Pink Satin, and Green Silk. This new green variant is exclusive to the Indian market, and it might be the best color out of the lot.

Selfie camera with autofocus

For selfies and video calls, the OnePlus 13T packed a 16MP camera on the front that supports 1080p@30fps video recording. But the OnePlus 13s gets a notable upgrade with a 32MP camera that not only features auto focus, but even offers 4K@30fps video recording. On the other hand, the duo have the same 50MP LYT700/IMX906 main camera (OIS) and a 50MP telephoto shooter (EIS) with 2x optical zoom.

Battery

While you do get a better selfie shooter on the front, the OnePlus 13s takes a hit in the battery department. It is powered by a 5,850mAh battery, which is smaller than the 6260mAh cell on the 13T. OnePlus claims that they had to reduce the battery size in the Indian variant to accommodate the new and improved selfie camera, but I’m not completely sold on this reasoning. Regardless, the battery is still quite massive and retains the 80W wired fast charging support.

Pricing

The OnePlus 13s just made its global debut in India with a 54,999 INR starting price tag for the 12GB + 256GB variant (roughly 640 US Dollars). This makes it around 200 US Dollars more expensive than the OnePlus 13T, which was released for 3,399 yuan (roughly 446 US Dollars) for the same 12GB + 256GB option. Even the top end 16GB + 1TB is more affordable since it sells for 4,499 yuan (roughly 617 US Dollars) in China.

OnePlus launched the OnePlus 13s smartphone (OnePlus 13s review) today through an online event. Alongside the phone, the company introduced new accessories designed specifically for the device. These include magnetic cases and a 27W magnetic phone cooler. The phone does not support wireless charging, but can still attach to magnetic stands and accessories using these cases.

The OnePlus 13s Sandstone Magnetic Case is priced at ₹799 and comes with a textured finish. The Hole-pattern Magnetic Case is priced at ₹699 and features holes on the back for a better grip. Both cases allow the phone to connect with magnetic accessories.

OnePlus also launched the 27W Freezing Point Magnetic Phone Cooler, priced at ₹2,499. It connects through a USB input and works with any phone that supports magnetic charging. Phones without magnetic support can still use the cooler with the included clip. It is compatible with both Android and iOS devices.

The cooler attaches to the back of the phone and has a round design that avoids blocking hand placement. It combines 27W power cooling, TEC cooling, and turbo cooling. The cooler follows OnePlus’ red and black color scheme and has a built-in two-speed e-sports light that shows cooling intensity. It also includes standard screw holes, allowing it to be mounted directly to a live stream stand. All accessories are available in India starting today, June 5.

I’ve had the opportunity to spend nearly two months with the new OnePlus 13s. Specifically, I’ve been reviewing the Pink Silk edition with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. OnePlus positions this device as a compact flagship that doesn’t compromise on performance or battery life, addressing a common pain point in the compact phone market. Having put it through its paces in daily use—from heavy multitasking to extensive media consumption and photography, I’ve formed a comprehensive understanding of its capabilities and how it holds up to its claims.

The OnePlus 13s presents a refreshed design aesthetic, emphasizing clean lines, symmetry, and a minimalist approach. The flat middle frame and Gorilla Glass 7i panels on both the front and camera module. The rear panel is shielded by Panda Glass and the device comes with an IP65 rating.

One of the primary selling points is its compact form factor, measuring 8.15mm thin and weighing 185 grams, making it feel notably lightweight and manageable in hand. The company states a 50:50 weight distribution, which does contribute to a balanced feel during use.

The rear camera module, carved from a single piece of aluminum, is positioned in the top left corner. Its placement is said to be optimized to stay out of the way during horizontal use, such as gaming or video playback. My review unit, the Pink Silk edition, features a “Velvet Glass technology,” which uses an exclusive corrosion process to create microscopic texturing, resulting in a clean-looking pink with a warm, soft touch. This finish is unique and provides a distinct feel compared to standard glass backs.

Additionally, there is Aqua Touch 2.0, a feature designed to improve touch responsiveness even with wet hands, and a “Glove Mode” is included for enhanced sensitivity.

In terms of audio, the OnePlus 13s is equipped with dual speakers, which work perfectly while gaming and watching movies. There’s OReality Audio (the company’s spatial audio tech) and noise cancellation support, which enhance the listening experience while using earphones.

To manage thermals in the compact chassis, the device incorporates a substantial 4,400mm² 3D Cryo-Velocity Vapor Chamber and an “industry-first cooling layer” integrated into the back cover.

The 13s delivers solid performance, but it does show signs of heating during extended use. Whether it’s heavy gaming or running stress tests, the device tends to warm up noticeably, with thermal throttling reducing performance to around 63 percent of its peak. While everyday tasks remain smooth, power users may feel the heat during longer sessions.

According to OnePlus, network performance is addressed with an 11-antenna omnidirectional system and a custom G1 Wi-Fi enhancement chip, promising improved stability and speed, even in challenging environments like subways or through walls.

Battery endurance is another key focus, with the OnePlus 13s featuring a large 5,850mAh battery, a significant capacity for its size. This is complemented by 80W fast charging, which takes around 60 minutes to achieve a full charge. It comes with bypass charging support, which powers the phone’s motherboard directly by bypassing the battery, reducing heat buildup during extended sessions.

The phone runs OxygenOS 15.0 based on Android 15, aiming to maintain OnePlus’s reputation for a fast and smooth user experience. The phone is promised to receive four years of OS upgrades and six years of security updates. Here’s a look at how the device performed on benchmark apps.

OnePlus AI

Apart from Google Gemini, the OnePlus 13s is equipped with the OnePlus AI, which brings a suite of the following features:

• AI Plus Mind: This acts as a personal AI companion, consolidating scattered information from various apps into a single “Mind Space.” It can be activated by pressing the Plus Key or using a three-finger swipe. It intelligently recognizes and categorizes content like calendar events, suggesting adding them to your schedule. Future updates are planned to include automatic summarization of information and proactive suggestions based on saved data.
• AI Search: Building on previous intelligent search capabilities, AI Search offers a conversational approach to information retrieval. It leverages both on-device and cloud-based AI (via Google Gemini models) to scour local files, settings, notes, and calendars, providing personalized results in a dialogue-like format.
• AI VoiceScribe: This tool records, summarizes, and translates calls, meetings, and videos within third-party apps, supporting over 20 languages and integrating with popular applications like WhatsApp, Instagram, Telegram, Snapchat, Zoom, and YouTube. Summaries are stored in Notes, and real-time translations are displayed as on-screen subtitles.
• AI Translation: A new dedicated translation application, “Translate,” offers enhanced translation capabilities across five modes: text, live voice, conversation, camera, and screen translation. It supports more than 20 languages.
• AI Reframe: Included in the photo editing suite, this uses AI algorithms to suggest optimised crops and aspect ratios for photos.

For cloud-based AI features, the OnePlus 13s introduces this industry-leading security solution, ensuring that data is processed in a secure environment without external storage or access by OnePlus or third parties, maintaining data security and user privacy.

Cameras and Other Features

The OnePlus 13s features a dual-camera setup with a 50-megapixel main sensor with OIS support and a 50-megapixel telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom and EIS. support. While it forgoes an ultra-wide lens, the remaining cameras cover most everyday shooting needs fairly well.

In well-lit conditions, the OnePlus 13s’ main camera captures photos with balanced exposure and natural colours that don’t appear overly enhanced. Details are generally preserved nicely, resulting in sharp and clear images that hold up well for casual viewing. However, when you zoom in closely, you may notice the sharpness isn’t as crisp as some other flagship models. It should also be noted that the 13s’ shutter speed is also very good, and it can capture multiple moving shots with clarity. I did not miss having an ultra-wide camera on this

In low-light environments, the main camera manages to hold its own but doesn’t excel. Shots come out bright enough, though they tend to lose some detail and sharpness. Noise is controlled to a reasonable extent, but moving subjects can appear somewhat blurred. The camera’s handling of light sources is decent, with minimal flare or excessive glare in darker scenes.

Portraits taken in daylight benefit from pleasant bokeh effects and consistent colour tones, delivering images that look natural and visually appealing. Edge detection does its job well most of the time, although it occasionally struggles to separate fine details like hair strands. However, the portrait camera does not offer any zoom options.

At night or in dim lighting, portrait quality drops somewhat, with less defined edges and softer focus. Still, the overall image retains a nice depth effect, making it usable for casual portrait shots in darker settings.

The autofocus-enabled 32-megapixel selfie camera produces bright and clear images with skin tones that lean towards natural rather than artificially smoothed. While there is some subtle skin smoothing, it doesn’t feel excessive or overly processed. Selfies taken in good lighting are generally satisfying, though low-light selfies show a reduction in detail and sharpness, similar to the main camera’s performance.

Video capture from the rear camera is stable and offers good clarity under normal lighting conditions. However, under low light, videos lose some sharpness and show minor noise. The front camera records usable video, suitable for video calls and casual clips, though it doesn’t stand out in terms of clarity or stabilization.

A notable addition is the Plus Key, which evolves the familiar Alert Slider found on previous OnePlus devices. Instead of just toggling sound profiles, this innovative and customizable button serves multiple functions. A long press intuitively switches between ring, vibrate, and silent modes, providing quick control over notifications. Additionally, users can customize the Plus Key for quick access to various features:

• Activate AI Plus Mind (as detailed in the AI section)
• Access Sound & Vibration settings (functions like an Alert Slider)
• Enable Do Not Disturb
• Launch Camera
• Turn on Flashlight
• Start Audio Recording
• Activate Translation Feature
• Capture a Screenshot

To be frank, I only enjoyed using the AI Plus Mind feature. Alternatively, I might use it for the flashlight, but it’s awkwardly placed for accessing the camera. I felt it should also have the option to launch any desired app.

The OnePlus 13s offers a good system-wide haptic feedback experience, as it features an x-axis linear motor. The IR blaster is one feature I used quite often, and I enjoyed the experience. It comes with support for other features, such as an optical in-screen fingerprint scanner, Wi-Fi 7, G1 Wi-Fi chip, Bluetooth 6.0, and USB-C (2.0).

Verdict

After using it consistently, the OnePlus 13s stands out as one of the most well-rounded compact flagships of 2025. It largely delivers on its promise of being “Stronger, Smarter, Smaller.” The design is genuinely comfortable for one-handed use, and the build quality feels premium throughout. The display is a clear highlight—vibrant, fluid, and well-suited for media consumption.

Performance remains strong across everyday tasks and demanding applications, with stable thermal management helping it stay cool under pressure. Battery life is impressive for its size, often lasting beyond a day on moderate to heavy use, and fast charging adds to the overall convenience.

The OnePlus AI suite, especially “AI Plus Mind” and “AI Search,” offers real value in everyday productivity, even if some features are still awaiting updates.

Of course, being a compact phone, it comes with a few trade-offs. You won’t get every flagship-level feature, just as the compact Galaxy S25 doesn’t match Ultra’s prowess. The 13s focuses on delivering the best experience possible within its form factor. If you’re looking for a more feature-rich option in the OnePlus lineup, the OnePlus 13 is a logical step up.

As far as pricing is concerned, it is priced well at Rs 54,999 for the 12GB+256GB edition and Rs 59,999 for the 12GB+512GB variant. Pre-bookings are live and it is scheduled to go on sale on June 12 via Amazon, OnePlus India app / website, and offline stores.

This phone is exclusive to the Indian market and a slightly modified version dubbed as OnePlus 13T with a 16-megapixel front camera (without autofocus) and a 6,260mAh battery is available in China.

OnePlus is doing something it hasn’t done in a while: making a smaller phone. The company has confirmed that its new device, the OnePlus 13s, is launching globally on June 5. And if that name sounds a little off from the usual, that’s because the phone itself follows a slightly different playbook. 

It’s being pitched as a compact flagship, something OnePlus or most manufacturers, for that matter, have largely stayed away from in recent years. It’s a good sign that brands are getting into this territory again, especially since we’ve long thought small phones might be on the verge of dying.

The OnePlus 13s is not entirely a new phone, though. It looks like a rebranded version of the OnePlus 13T which launched exclusively in China last month. That’s not necessarily a bad thing and is within Chinese manufacturers playbook to launch phones under a different name globally. 

Design and Display

As a compact flagship, it’s natural to expect the 13s in a more manageable form factor. The phone is around 12mm smaller than the regular OnePlus 13 at 151mm height. 

It comes with a glass back and a metal frame, which gives it a more premium feel. The front features a 6.32-inch LTPO AMOLED panel, with a 1.5K resolution and variable refresh rate between 1Hz and 120Hz.

OnePlus might also use Oppo’s Crystal Shield Glass for durability, and the screen will also have Dolby Vision support. Based on the China-only 13T, the 13s should also come with an IP65 rating, offering some degree of water and dust resistance, though it stops short of the IP68 standard found on more robust flagships.

High-end internals, regardless of name

Inside, the OnePlus 13s is about what you’d expect from a 2025 flagship phone, minus the size. It runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, which is built on a 4nm process and powers several high-end Android devices this year. 

The phone will come in configurations of up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage. And the company isn’t skimping on thermals either. It houses a 4400mm² Cryo-Velocity Vapor Chamber with an external cooling layer on the back cover to dissipate the heat. 

You are sure to be pleased with battery capacity as well. The OnePlus 13s might feature the same 6260mAh cell as its Chinese sibling. That is unusually large for a phone this size, but it’s all thanks to the new silicon-carbon battery tech that is more dense than conventional Li-ion batteries. Charging will be handled via 80W wired fast charging.

On the software side, it looks like the 13s will ship with Android 15-based OxygenOS skin. Features like Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, Dolby Atmos stereo speakers, an IR blaster, and an in-display fingerprint sensor round out the hardware list.

Two cameras on the back, one on the front

The camera hardware on the 13s isn’t trying to compete with phones like the Galaxy S24 Ultra or the Pixel 8 Pro, but that’s not really the point of this phone. 

Based on 13T, it will feature a dual camera setup on the rear headlined by a 50MP Sony IMX906 sensor with OIS, and a 50MP telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom and OIS as well. There’s no ultra-wide lens here. On the front, there will be a 16MP camera that shoots 1080p video at 30fps.

All in all, the 13s will offer clean optics, optical zoom, and the core essentials without too many bells and whistles. It won’t get extra points for cameras, but it also doesn’t seem like it’s trying to.

The Pricing

As for the price, OnePlus hasn’t confirmed anything yet. The 13T launched in China at ¥3,399, which converts to roughly $446 or some Rs 40,000. 

Global models, however, tend to go up in prices depending on regional taxes and storage tiers. We are expecting the OnePlus 13s to land in the $500-$600 range. That would put the OnePlus 13s in competition with devices like the Samsung Galaxy S24, the Pixel 8, and the Nothing Phone (2).

After a steady stream of teasers and leaks, OnePlus has confirmed that its next compact flagship, the OnePlus 13s, will launch globally on June 5. It’s a compact flagship that shares most of its DNA with the OnePlus 13T (review), which launched in China last month.

The phone features a similar design with a squircle camera module, flat edges, and the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip. If that’s the case, it will carry over most of the specs from its Chinese sibling.

OnePlus 13s Specifications (Expected)

You can expect a 6.32-inch display with a 1.5K resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and an in-screen fingerprint sensor. For photography, the 13T sports a 16-megapixel front-facing camera and a dual rear camera setup: a 50-megapixel primary camera with OIS and a 50-megapixel telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom.

The 13s is expected to feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and will be powered by a 6,260mAh battery with support for 80W fast charging. Running ColorOS 15 based on Android 15, the device also includes a new hardware key, dual stereo speakers, a metal frame, and an IP65-rated build.

That said, there seem to be a few region-specific adjustments, such as color options. In China, the 13T arrived in Black, Pink, and Grey, but the 13s is rumored to swap out Grey for Green in global markets. Speaking of which, India is one of the confirmed markets for the OnePlus 13s launch.

The 13T launched at a price of 3,399 yuan for the 12/256GB variant which is some Rs 40,000 in India and $465 in the US. Global pricing, as always, is expected to be higher. We’ll know more in the coming weeks.

The back panel of the OnePlus 13s features a raised dual-camera module accompanied by an LED flash. The overall design closely resembles the OnePlus 13T, which is available in China. OnePlus has also confirmed that the 13s will be offered in two color options: Pink Satin and Black Velvet.
