Mark your calendars! The highly-anticipated OnePlus 5 launches on June 20. The announcement was made by OnePlus CEO Pete Lau via his official Twitter account. A few minutes later, the official OnePlus Twitter account also made the announcement.

The event like all other OnePlus launches will be live-streamed at 12:00 PM EDT (4:00 PM GMT). Should we expect new VR glasses this year? We can’t say yet.

There will also be pop-up events holding at various locations. It will hold in New York on the same day at 7:00 PM at the Meatpacking District. OnePlus Co-founder Carl Pei and popular YouTuber MKBHD will be present.

It will also hold in Paris on June 21 at 11:00 AM at 213 Rue Saint Honore. Other locations are listed on the page created for the event.

Yesterday, the date leaked online via an image but was disproved and said to be for the OnePlus 2. Turns out that while that date might have truly been for the OP2 (April 20, 2015), whoever posted it again was giving us a hint.

The OnePlus 5 will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 processor. A picture posted by OnePlus hints at the device being smaller than the OP3T. The main feature most people are looking forward to is the camera which is rumored to be dual sensors. Heck! The official launch poster even teases it with the phrase “Focus On What Matters”.

There even appears to be a hint buried in the event page. The box holding the text “Focus On What Matters” moves slightly in both directions like a panorama. Try moving around with your cursor and you should notice it.

On Monday, a screenshot of a leaked internal mail revealing the OnePlus 5 launch date surfaced online. The image mentioned June 15 as the launch date for the next flagship killer. Today, an official poster leaked online confirms the date and time of the launch.

The image was posted on Weibo by KJuma, a popular leakster on the micro-blogging platform. not only does it reveal the date as June 15, 2017, it also mentions the venue and time.

The launch will take place at the Shenzhen Bay Sports Center (Spring Cocoon Gymnasium) at 3:00pm local time (7:00 AM GMT). This is the same venue Smartisan used for the launch of the Nut Pro last month.

Just below the date is a text that translates to “New Release” and below that is another bold text that translates to “Only fast, not broken”. We can’t make out the meaning of the second text as the intended meaning has been lost in translation. It might be a reference to its Dash Charge fast charge technology, the overall performance of the phone or it might mean something else entirely.

The OnePlus 5 has been confirmed to sport the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor. It is expected to retain its 5.5-inch display and is rumored to come with 8GB of RAM and dual rear cameras. There are still a lot of unknowns about the device and we can’t wait for June 15 to be here.

A new leaked internal mail from OnePlus may have unofficially revealed the OnePlus 5’s launch date even before OnePlus brings that to the open. The leaked mail is said to be meant primarily to make arrangements for publicity for the release which the mail hints would take place on June 15. Well, the leak could be intentional as part of the publicity, who knows?

There is no doubt the OnePlus 5’s launch date is very close by, considering the rate at which the leaks about the device have been streaming out recently. Also, OnePlus recently hinted that the OnePlus 3T would be discontinued, further fueling speculations that the company is already preparing the ground for the OnePlus 5 launch.

OnePlus 5 is expected to come packing Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 835 processor and will have a front fingerprint sensor. These two features, as well as the name of the device, have all been confirmed by OnePlus officially. The flagship is also expected with a dual camera setup, 6GB of RAM and Android 7.1 Nougat, among others. We’ll have to wait for an official press invite or poster from OnePlus to confirm this leaked date.
