<p>But is the OnePlus 6 worthy of this tagline? Let&#8217;s find out!</p>
<p>It&#8217;s become a tradition for OnePlus flagships to be revealed in detail much before its official launch. The same was applicable for the OnePlus 6 and everything we knew about the phone before launch has come out to be true. So, there are no surprises in this article.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/OP6.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-191319" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/OP6.jpg?x44794" alt="OnePlus 6 01" width="680" height="453" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/OP6.jpg 680w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/OP6-300x200.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 680px) 100vw, 680px" /></a></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h2>OnePlus 6 Design</h2>
<p>The OnePlus 6 has joined the numerous flagships of 2018 that feature a glass body. Some might argue that metal is better than glass, but OnePlus defends this move by saying that the glass body is more malleable than a metal one and its lighter too. Plus, with Gorilla Glass 5 protection at the back (as well as front), the phone is set to take a few hits without breaking down. In fact, OnePlus claims that the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/oneplus-6/">OnePlus 6</a> is as durable as its predecessors with a metal body. Personally, I can vouch for OnePlus&#8217; sturdy built quality as my old OnePlus 3T has slipped off my hands numerous times. The phone does features a few dents here and there, but apart from that, the device still performs flawlessly. So it&#8217;s good to hear that the GG5 back is as good as the previous OnePlus flagships.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/OP6-03.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-large wp-image-191317" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/OP6-03-1024x768.jpg?x44794" alt="" width="640" height="480" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/OP6-03-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/OP6-03-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/OP6-03-768x576.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/OP6-03-160x120.jpg 160w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/OP6-03.jpg 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px" /></a></p>
<p>The back features a vertically arranged dual camera setup, with a dual LED flash, pill shaped fingerprint sensor, and the OnePlus logo just below it. The company has ensured that the design is symmetrical and looks good. There&#8217;s a metal frame that goes around the glass body. The alert slider is now located on the right, above the power button. The volume buttons stay on the left like the previous OnePlus phones. The bottom features the USB Type-C port, speakers, and a headphone jack.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/The-OnePlus-6-in-photos-1.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-large wp-image-191321" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/The-OnePlus-6-in-photos-1-1024x682.jpg?x44794" alt="" width="640" height="426" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/The-OnePlus-6-in-photos-1-1024x682.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/The-OnePlus-6-in-photos-1-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/The-OnePlus-6-in-photos-1-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/The-OnePlus-6-in-photos-1.jpg 1600w" sizes="(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px" /></a></p>
<p>The OnePlus 6 is water resistant too, but the company hasn&#8217;t revealed an official IP certification. There are three color options, Mirror Black (high gloss), Midnight Black (Matte finish), and Silk White. The White color model is unfortunately a limited edition variant and will be available for sale later in June.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h2>OnePlus 6 Hardware</h2>
<p>You get the best hardware of 2018 inside the OnePlus 6. So love it or hate it, but the notch is here to stay. The phone features a 6.28-inch 2280 x 1080 tall 19:9 <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/AMOLED">AMOLED</a> display, with a notch on top. Of course, there&#8217;s an option to get rid of the notch inside the software, but that simply means you&#8217;ll be putting a black bar on the sides of the notch, technically wasting the available screen space.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/OP6-02.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-large wp-image-191318" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/OP6-02-1024x768.jpg?x44794" alt="" width="640" height="480" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/OP6-02-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/OP6-02-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/OP6-02-768x576.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/OP6-02-160x120.jpg 160w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/OP6-02.jpg 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px" /></a></p>
<p>Snapdragon 845 is inside with 6GB / 8GB RAM and 64GB/ 128GB/ 256GB ROM options. There&#8217;s dual SIM card slots and support for 40 bands across Europe and Americas. The battery size is nothing extraordinary, but with the 10nm SD845 and software optimisations, the 3300mAh battery should last an entire day.</p>
<p>As for the camera department, the OnePlus 6 comes with a 16MP primary sensor with f/1.7 aperture, 1.22um pixels and OIS. The larger pixel size of the main camera is said to improve the low light performance. There&#8217;s a 20MP secondary camera for depth information. The phone supports 4K videos at 60 fps which puts it in the same ranks as Galaxy S9 and iPX. Slo-mo videos can be shot at 480 fps @ 720p for up to a minute. You get a new video editor too with features such as adding filters, and music.</p>
<p>Unfortunately, there was no mention of wireless charging on the device.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h2>OnePlus 6 Software</h2>
<p>You get a familiar Oxygen OS on the OnePlus 6 with Android 8.1. Of course, you can <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/05/09/android-p-beta-now-available-for-oneplus-6-xiaomi-mi-mix-2s-oppo-r15-pro-vivo-x2-x21-ud-nokia-7-plus-and-more/">test out the latest Android P beta on the phone too</a>. What&#8217;s new in the OS is the gesture support. For example, swiping left or right takes you a step back or forward. Similarly swiping up from the home screen goes back home. This gives you the opportunity to free up the space taken by on screen buttons. There are the other standard features such as reading mode, gaming mode etc.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h2>OnePlus 6 Pricing</h2>
<p>In this age of premium smartphones costing nearly thousands of dollars, OnePlus is still fairly affordable. As expected, the company did increase the pricing of its new flagship, but as Carl Pei mentioned in the launch event, the company has always focused on fair pricing. And with the OnePlus 6, the pricing is quite fair indeed.</p>
<p>The OnePlus 6 starts at $529, which is a $30 increase as compared to the starting price of the OnePlus 5T.</p>
<p>Here are the official OnePlus 6 prices of all the variants:</p>
<p><strong>6GB+64GB Mirror Black &#8211; $529</strong></p>
<p><strong>8GB+128GB Mirror Black &#8211; $579</strong></p>
<p><strong>8GB+128GB Midnight Black &#8211; $579</strong></p>
<p><strong>8GB+256GB Midnight Black &#8211; $629</strong></p>
<p><strong>8GB+128GB Silk White &#8211; $579</strong></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>So the pricing starts from $529 and goes up to $629. That&#8217;s pretty aggressive for a 2018 flagship smartphone!</p>
<p>The only issue here is that the Silk White variant is a limited edition, so we don&#8217;t know how many units will be up for grabs. Also, the 256GB version is only available in the Midnight Black edition.</p>
<p>Overall, I&#8217;d say well done OnePlus!</p>
<p>What are your thoughts?</p>

This time, we have got some pretty high quality hands on images of the handset, well before its showcased officially. The pictures practically confirm at least three color options for the device: White, Mirror Black, and another Black version (Matte?).</p>
[envira-gallery id=&#8221;191213&#8243;]
<p>The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/05/13/oneplus-6-cases-confirm-the-complete-design-of-the-upcoming-flagship/">OnePlus 6 hands on images</a> that were leaked today practically confirm the entire design of the handset. So you get a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/notch">notch</a> up front along with a thin chin at the bottom. The back features the dual camera setup in a vertical arrangement, flash, and a fingerprint sensor below it. Below the setup lies the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/oneplus">OnePlus</a> logo. The alert slider is shifted to the right above the power button while the volume buttons stay on the left as its predecessor.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/32381155_1804691776243860_8303793094667534336_o-740x494.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-191207" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/32381155_1804691776243860_8303793094667534336_o-740x494.jpg?x44794" alt="" width="740" height="494" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/32381155_1804691776243860_8303793094667534336_o-740x494.jpg 740w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/32381155_1804691776243860_8303793094667534336_o-740x494-300x200.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 740px) 100vw, 740px" /></a></p>
<p>The White OnePlus 6 clearly stands out from the crowd. We are big fans of white smartphones if they are made well, and the company isn&#8217;t new to making high quality, good looking white models. The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/01/10/sandstone-white-oneplus-5t-sold-less-2-hours/">OnePlus 6 was also released in Sandstone White</a> and it was definitely a beautiful phone. We are not quite sure whether this is the Sandstone White OnePlus 6 version, but it surely doesn&#8217;t look too glossy. There are two more color options available, the high gloss Mirror Black OnePlus 6 and the Matte like Black OnePlus 6.</p>

The Dutch retailer Belsimpel has just published a video teasing the launch of OnePlus 6 in its store: you can see it below and you can get more info in the original announcement article which you can find in the video description.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-190583" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/OnePlus-6-Mirror-Black-1-1.jpg?x44794" alt="oneplus 6 official" width="850" height="650" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/OnePlus-6-Mirror-Black-1-1.jpg 850w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/OnePlus-6-Mirror-Black-1-1-300x229.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/OnePlus-6-Mirror-Black-1-1-768x587.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 850px) 100vw, 850px" /></p>
<p>In case you don&#8217;t know, OnePlus 6 will be made official on May 16 at 18:00 CEST. Well, according to Belsimpel, it will also be the day in which the handset will be up for pre-orders. The pre-orders will begin just an hour after the official announcement, so at 19:00 CEST. Through this agreement, OnePlus officially enters the Dutch market. By purchasing the new flagship on Belsimpel, you will also get the official warranty. If you live in the Netherlands, you will be allowed to pay the original price or choose installment options. In case you missed it, OnePlus 6 has just been spotted on <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/05/14/oneplus-6-pricing-release-date-color-variants-specs-surface-through-major-leak-on-amazon/">Amazon Germany</a> which has revealed its design as well as its price.</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>According to Amazon Germany, OnePlus has not stopped increasing the price of its flagships. OnePlus 6 will cost even more than the 5T, with a price tag of €519 for the version with 64 GB of internal storage and €569 for the 128 GB variant. Despite the disappointment showed by a lot of fans, the device will rock a notched design in order to minimize the bezels&#8217; thickness.  The phone will sport a glass back and a vertical dual camera placed centrally, with a fingerprint reader under it.</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>There have been several rumours about <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/oneplus-6-2/">OnePlus 6</a>&#8216;s launch date, with the most recent one claiming it to be on May 21. It turns out, this date wasn&#8217;t far off, as the Chinese company has just confirmed that the OnePlus 6 will meet us officially on May 17 in China. This finally puts a rest to the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/04/24/oneplus-6-launch-may-21/">conflicting release dates suggested by different rumours in the past couple of weeks</a>.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/e6bb7c0dgy1fqnvn509hpj20og16jgvd.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-large wp-image-187381" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/e6bb7c0dgy1fqnvn509hpj20og16jgvd-589x1024.jpg?x44794" alt="OnePlus 6 launch date China" width="589" height="1024" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/e6bb7c0dgy1fqnvn509hpj20og16jgvd-589x1024.jpg 589w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/e6bb7c0dgy1fqnvn509hpj20og16jgvd-173x300.jpg 173w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/e6bb7c0dgy1fqnvn509hpj20og16jgvd.jpg 690w" sizes="(max-width: 589px) 100vw, 589px" /></a></p>
<p>Now that the launch date is confirmed, we can finally focus on the other aspects of the device. The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/04/21/latest-teaser-confirms-the-oneplus-6-will-have-a-glass-back/">OnePlus 6 is confirmed to feature a glass body</a> with round corners, different from the all metal design adorned by the previous flagships. This should also pave way for Wireless Charging support, a first for a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/oneplus/">OnePlus</a> flagship device. The glass body has been reportedly selected among 70 different prototypes and the final product will feature 5 layers of nanotech coating to give a better feel of depth on the rear glass as compared to competitors.</p>
<figure id="attachment_187236" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-187236" style="width: 600px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/OnePlus-6-Rear-Teaser.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-187236" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/OnePlus-6-Rear-Teaser.jpg?x44794" alt="OnePlus 6 Rear Teaser" width="600" height="974" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/OnePlus-6-Rear-Teaser.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/OnePlus-6-Rear-Teaser-185x300.jpg 185w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a><figcaption id="caption-attachment-187236" class="wp-caption-text">OnePlus 6 Rear Glass Teaser</figcaption></figure>
<p>Coming to the specs, the OnePlus 6 is almost confirmed to feature a notch up front on its 6-inch AMOLED display. Other rumored specs of the device include Snapdragon 845, 3450mAh battery, 8GB RAM, 128GB / 256GB ROM options, and a 16+20MP rear dual cameras.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>The OnePlus 6 release date in India was said to be<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/04/20/oneplus-6-launch-date-for-india-is-may-18-likely-to-cost-rs-39999-claims-report/"> May 18 according to a recent report from Money Contro</a>l. With the official launch in China set for May 17, this date doesn&#8217;t seem to be far off. However, it is worth adding that OnePlus had officially reached out to us stating that this release date was false. So, we&#8217;ll have to wait for an official confirmation from the company for the India launch date of the OnePlus 6.</p>
<p>Note that the OnePlus 6&#8217;s China launch conference tickets will go on sale from April 27 at 10AM.</p>

While the company has confirmed various features and specifications of the phone, it has not yet revealed the official launch yet.</p>
<p>While the OnePlus 6 has been rumored to get launched by the end of next week or early next month, latest report indicates that the upcoming &#8220;flagship killer&#8221; from OnePlus will get launched on 21st May.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-186752 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/OnePlus-6-10.jpg?x44794" alt="OnePlus 6" width="2048" height="1536" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/OnePlus-6-10.jpg 2048w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/OnePlus-6-10-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/OnePlus-6-10-768x576.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/OnePlus-6-10-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/OnePlus-6-10-160x120.jpg 160w" sizes="(max-width: 2048px) 100vw, 2048px" /></p>
<p>Apparently, the company has sent an email to those who have been selected to trial the upcoming smartphone from the company ahead of its official launch as a part of its OnePlus 6 <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/04/23/oneplus-6-lab-community-review-programme/">Lab Community Review Programme</a>.</p>
<p>In the email, the company has listed out all the terms and conditions of the programme as well as 21st Mat as the launch date of the OnePlus 6 smartphone. If the launch date of 21st May turns out to be true, this will be the first smartphone from the company to get released this early.</p>
<p>The company has already confirmed that the OnePlus 6 will come with a 6.28-inch AMOLED display with Full-HD+ resolution and 19:9 aspect ratio. The company has also confirmed that the smartphone <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/03/31/oneplus-ceo-confirms-presence-of-notch-on-oneplus-6-explains-why/">will come with a notch</a> and there’ll be an option to disable it.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-186751 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/OnePlus-6-9.jpg?x44794" alt="OnePlus 6" width="2048" height="1536" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/OnePlus-6-9.jpg 2048w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/OnePlus-6-9-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/OnePlus-6-9-768x576.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/OnePlus-6-9-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/OnePlus-6-9-160x120.jpg 160w" sizes="(max-width: 2048px) 100vw, 2048px" /></p>
<p>It will be powered by <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/qualcomm/">Qualcomm</a>&#8216;s Snapdragon 845 processor coupled with 8GB RAM along with an internal storage of 256GB. Other than the 8GB RAM variant, the phone is also expected to arrive in two other options — 6GB RAM with 64GB storage and 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. The rear side of the phone is expected to feature 20-megapixel + 16-megapixel dual camera setup. It is also expected to pack 20-megapixel front-facing snapper.</p>
<p>The device will come loaded with <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/android-oreo/">Android 8.1 Oreo</a> operating system out of the box with the company’s own OxygenOS on top. Under the hood, it is speculated to be powered by a 3,450mAh battery which will also carry support for Dash Charge V2 that may let its users use it for the entire day just by charging it for 20 minutes.</p>

However, the phone could be one of the shortest flagships launched recently as our source has given us a few details about the upcoming <strong>OnePlus 6 flagship</strong>. While some might say that it is too early to call this phone as upcoming, our source reveals that <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/oneplus/">OnePlus </a>is planning to launch the OnePlus 6 as early as March of 2018. The launch is said to be sometime in the middle of March, with the phone becoming available by the end of the month.</p>

<p>As for the specs, our source reveals that the OnePlus 6 will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset. This isn&#8217;t surprising given that Oneplus flagships are known to come with the latest flagship chips from Qualcomm. However, our source further adds that the phone will feature an underglass fingerprint sensor. The current<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/oneplus-5t/"> OnePlus 5T </a>features the fingerprint sensor on the back, which isn&#8217;t really an ideal position. Many prefer the sensor on the front and an underglass fingerprint sensor would make things easier as it can easily be installed on the front without having the sacrifice the full-screen design.</p>
<p>It might be too early to say that the above information is going to be 100% true, but it is worth mentioning that our source has been right about OnePlus flagships before. We revealed details of the OnePlus 5T smartphone way before anyone else and we are pretty confident that the above information is also solid.</p>
