Lenovo first gained notoriety with the Lenovo Z5 when several photos and renders of the device shared ended up not being same when the device was launched. It came with thicker bezels whereas the renders appear to show the device with next to no bezels. Apparently, OnePlus has been caught in a similar controversy but this time for sharing a photo of the already released OnePlus 6T with smaller bezels.

A Twitter user named Dro shared a post about an Instagram ad for the OnePlus 6T after he spotted something that just wasn’t normal about the promotional ad. The ad appears to show the company generously reduced the black color around the camera notch and removed the chin totally. The outcome of the Ad makes it look like it is completely bezel-less when it’s really not. One of the company’s marketing departments personnel might have thought it would be alright giving people a wrong impression about the OnePlus 6T bezel size.

Apart from the Instagram ad, OnePlus still posted another deceptive ad on YouTube which at the start of the video and 43-second mark shows the phone without a chin. Again, this deceptive and sure gives the impression that there’s no chin. But the dispute here is whether it was by accident or on purpose. It is likely on purpose but since the OnePlus 6T is already out in the open, this might not generate any sustained controversy.

Brand cooperation is becoming a growing trend in the mobile phone industry. Huawei has always teamed up with Porsche Design since the launch of the Mate 10 Porsche Design and later the Mate 20 Porsche Design. OPPO also launched a Lamborghini edition of the flagship OPPO Find X. OnePlus joined the bandwagon recently with the OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition in Europe and later India.

The OP6T McLaren edition has now been unveiled in China. It comes with a price tag of 4599 yuan ($666) and will go on sale at 10 AM on December 17 via Jingdong (JD.com) and OnePlus’ official website. Notably, the price is lower than that of the European version and even the retail price in India where it was announced for Rs.50,99 ($709). Shipping and import duties may have played a role in the slightly higher price.

The flagship device packs an avalanche of new features which distinguishes it from the regular OnePlus 6T. Top of the pack is 10 GB of RAM + 256GB storage as well as a new super fast rapid charging technology called Warp Charge. The Warp Charge 30 allows the smartphone to gain 50-percent battery juice in just twenty minutes. The retail package of the phone has a 30W charger. The OnePlus 6T McLaren edition also comes with a carbon-fiber texture under its rear glass which becomes luminous when direct light falls on it. An orange lining which shines when viewed from different angles can be seen at the bottom of the glass back. The orange lining continues on both sides and fades into the black color of the rear. The McLaren logo is placed towards the bottom of the rear shell.

In addition, the model still retains the Snapdragon 845 chipset that is on the regular OnePlus 6T, a 6.41-inch FHD+ Optic AMOLED screen with waterdrop notch. The display is embedded with an in-screen fingerprint reader and it is well-protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 6 layer. The device gets its interface from an Android 9.0 Pie-based Oxygen OS. The device also packs a 3700mAh battery among others.

Just before the OnePlus 6T launch, the company invited a couple of reviewers to have a sneak peek of the device in its manufacture process on its factory. During the visit as reported by MrWhosetheboss, he got an extensive tour of OnePlus’ headquarters and along the line, he stumbled on a number of old OnePlus 6 Prototypes still on display. The prototypes adopt several colours such as blue, purple and several colour gradients. We had expected the Chinese giant to make the OnePlus 6T available in some of the gradient colours and that is what just happened.

OnePlus released a Thunder Purple gradient variant of the OnePlus 6T during the flagship phone’s China launch. The new variant joins the Midnight Black and Mirror Black variants that were announced in New York earlier on. It also happens to be the first gradient hue that the company would be releasing. Surprisingly, OnePlus 6 was never released in any gradient colour despite the growing popularity of that styling since the Huawei P20 Pro was released with such design. The OP6 only had a Flame Red and Silk White colour variant. The company has perhaps realised there is likely a shift to gradient hues among its competitors and so, may have put its pricing consideration aside in releasing this one. We’re sure more of such would follow, if not on the OP6T but on its successor.

The OnePlus 6T Thunder Purple comes with a frosted glass back with deeper colours on the upper part around the camera while the lower part comes in purple. The darker colour and purple combination is a reflection of a dark sky briefly illuminated by lightning which gives it a purple appearance. The front also has black bezels just like the other variants. Aside from the frosted glass Thunder Purple gradient back, the device shares the same specs as the Midnight Black and Mirror Black variants. Check out some more pictures from below.

After unveiling its second flagship smartphone of the year — OnePlus 6T — at a launch event in India, OnePlus has now officially launched the phone in India. It will be available for purchase through Amazon India and OnePlus.in, starting from 1st November. It’ll be on open sale from 3rd November through Amazon, OnePlus Stores, OnePlus.in, Chroma, and Reliance Digital.

The OnePlus 6T will be available in India in two color options — Mirror Black and Midnight Black. The base model with 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage is priced at Rs. 37,999 (approximately $517) while the 8GB + 128GB model costs Rs. 41,999 (approximately $569). The top-end model with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage is priced at Rs. 45,999, which roughly converts to $626.

Those who pre-book the phone will get Type-C Bullets earbuds for free and Rs. 500 (~$7) Amazon Pay cashback. Reliance Jio is also offering a total cashback of Rs. 5,400 (~$74) in the form 36 vouchers. The company is also offering Free Damage Protection from Servify in partnership with Kotak Mahindra Bank.

Buyers who purchase the OnePlus 6T through ICICI Bank cards or Citi Credit card can avail a flat discount of Rs. 2,000 on the pricing of OnePlus 6T. Those who orders the smartphone with prepaid method between 1st November and 5th November will get Rs. 1,000 (~$14) Amazon Pay credit.

The phone comes with a 6.41-inch Optic AMOLED display with 2340 x 1080 pixels screen resolution and 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The display carries support for features such as Adaptive brightness, screen calibration and reading mode. The screen is also protected by a layer of Gorilla Glass 6.

Instead of the regular rectangular notch, the phone has a much smaller “teardrop” notch, similar to the Oppo R17 which seems to be an inspiration for the OnePlus 6T’s design. The notch housers the front-facing camera and other sensors.

This is the first time OnePlus has opted to include an optical in-display fingerprint sensor instead of the regular one. The company calls it “Screen Unlock” and OnePlus claims that it’s the fastest-performing implementation of in-display fingerprint authentication yet. The other biometric security feature available on the OP6T is face unlock.

Under the hood, the device is powered by Qualcomm‘s flagship Snapdragon 845 octa-core processor. The phone comes with either 6GB of 8GB of RAM and there are three options for internal storage — 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB. The phone lacks microSD card slot so you won’t be able to expand the storage capacity.

As for the photography, it comes with a dual camera setup on the back, consisting of a 16-megapixel Sony IMX519 primary camera sensor with  f/1.7 aperture. It offers features like OIS, EIS and PDAF. It supports HDR, timelapse, 4K video shooting, slow motion video recording (1080p) at 240 fps.

The company is also promising better low-light photography experience through new Nightscape feature that relies on AI for capturing impressive shots in dim light surroundings. During the announcement, the company also revealed that the OnePlus 6 will get Nightscape through software update starting tomorrow.

There’s a 20-megapixel secondary sensor with f/1.7 aperture. On the front side, it comes with a 16-megapixel Sony IMX371 camera that supports EIS and 30 fps FHD video shooting. It has a new Studio Lighting feature, developed in collaboration with photographer Kevin Abosch, which aims to produce more flattering portraits.

The OnePlus 6T runs on OxygenOS 9.0 which based on Android 9 Pie operating system. The company has promised Android update for atleast two years and security updates for three years. Connectivity options on the device include features like dual-SIM support, 4G VoLTE, 2×2 MIMO, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, GPS and USB-C.

The phone is powered by 3,700mAh battery and comes equipped with support for Dash Charge fast charging technology. Unfortunately, the OnePlus 6T lacks support for wireless charging.

Ahead of the October 29 official launch of the OnePlus 6T, the company’s CEO has shared a camera sample shot using the flagship model’s camera. The specification of the camera is not known but the camera sample shows the device will come with a powerful camera specs lineup.

The OnePlus 6T camera sample highlights the capabilities of the camera under low light condition. A recent report had tipped the OP6T to come with a night mode tailored specifically for low light conditions. The momentum around the OnePlus 6T is building even though OnePlus is yet to disclose officially the launch date for the device.  The design of the flagship has appeared in several leaks including those of the OP6T protective cases. The renders of a new set of cases has once again appeared. The cases were leaked by Mobile Fun who listed the variety of Olixar-branded OnePlus 6 cases on its website.

The cases doesn’t really add anything new to what we know about the device but they remind us of the beauty the OP6T would be. The renders also reiterate all what we’ve scooped from previous leaks and rumors. One of such is the water drop notch and the absence of a rear fingerprint sensor. Of course, it is already confirmed that the OnePlus 6T will come with a in-display fingerprint sensor.

OnePlus‘ upcoming flagship, the OnePlus 6Twill likely have as its biggest feature the in-display fingerprint reader it is expected to pack. That has been the subject of a couple of pre-launch promotional activities the company has been dishing out. The in-display fingerprint sensor is once again the subject of a new OnePlus 6T promo campaign released by OnePlus.

The video is part of the “Unlock The Future” campaign and it tries to relate the innovation that would be at play onboard the device to previous monumental innovations such as the Egyptian pyramids, the balloon of the Montgolfier brothers and the Moon landing by US astronauts. The company is basically telling us that it would keep up its innovativeness.

The video also showcases the bottom part of the device and we could see the USB Type-C port at the middle. The port is surrounded by two speaker grills at both sides which should be openings for the mouthpiece or perhaps the audio on the OP6T will see some improvements. We’ll find out about that when the device is launched. As for the launch, OnePlus is expected to launch the device on October 17 in India as seen in a leaked invitation letter. The company is yet to officially announce a date for the launch.

OnePlus is yet to officially reveal the launch date of the OnePlus 6T but there is no doubt its launch is just around the corner. An invitation letter that apparently is for the OnePlus 6T India launch has just leaked and it points to an October 17 launch date. This is the second time this date is coming out. An earlier leaked screenshot published a few weeks back had teased an October 17 launch. This one seems to confirm that date even though OnePlus is yet to officially reveal the date. 

Just like the previous OP6T teaser, the launch invite also contains the tagline “Unlock The Speed”. The tagline is believed to refer to the device’s new in-display fingerprint sensor. The OnePlus 6T is said to depart from the usual rear-mounted fingerprint sensor to make use of a fast sensor placed on the display. This feature has already been confirmed by the Chinese company.

The India launch may not be the first to take place or at most, it will run concurrently with a launch in Europe or the U.S. The device is already billed to be the first OnePlus model that would be backed by a U.S carrier as revealed a couple of weeks back. The OnePlus 6T is expected pack the same Snapdragon 845 chipset as the OP6 and buyers will have the option of either 6GB or 8GB of RAM. The 8GB model will come in either 128GB or 256GB of storage while the 6GB model will pair with 64GB storage only. with the latter model. Unfortunately, the 6GB of RAM variant will only be available with 64GB of storage. The device is expected to run on Android 9 Pie OS from the go with an overlay of the latest Oxygen OS 9.0 custom ROM.

It’s now sort of a tradition that OnePlus won’t stick to releasing one flagship model each year but two. The “T” model was born with the OnePlus 3T which was launched in 2016 barely some months after the OnePlus 3, followed by the 5T. The Chinese company is already working on the OnePlus 6T and the launch could happen soon. A new teaser has appeared online which sort of confirms the name as well as the water drop display design.

The teaser shows the front design and the most spectacular feature is the water drop notch design at the top of the display. The notch is different from that of the OnePlus 6 and looks more acceptable than the wider one on the OP6. This has been the subject of several leaks lately so, the purported teaser lends it some credence. We must state, though, that the teaser doesn’t seem to have emanated from OnePlus. So we can’t vouch for its authenticity. That doesn’t in anyway mean the OnePlus 6T isn’t in the works.

 Several leaked protective casing said to be for the OP6T had appeared previously to suggest the likely design the device would have. The rear isn’t very much different from that of the OnePlus 6 except that there is no rear fingerprint scanner. The OnePlus 6T is expected to pack an in-display fingerprint sensor. The device will also house a vertically aligned dual camera set up at the back. The device will also pack a Snapdragon 845 chipset onboard, 8GB RAM, up to 256GB storage, DASH charge, USB-C port but no 3.5mm audio jack.
