Since the OnePlus 6T flagship was announced about two weeks back, the device has seen several positive reviews. The disassembly video also gives us our first look at the OP6T in-display fingerprint reader. The video shows there is an opening just under the AMOLED panel that lets the sensor to capture the user’s fingerprint including all of its ridges and pores, for accurate identification. The sensor looks very similar to a regular phone camera sensor but is a lot smaller. In addition, the video also shows the OnePlus 6T come with watertight seals wherever there is an opening, affirming its water-resistant build. Just before the OnePlus 6T launch, the company invited a couple of reviewers to have a sneak peek of the device in its manufacture process on its factory. During the visit as reported by MrWhosetheboss, he got an extensive tour of OnePlus’ headquarters and along the line, he stumbled on a number of old OnePlus 6 Prototypes still on display. The prototypes adopt several colours such as blue, purple and several colour gradients. We had expected the Chinese giant to make the OnePlus 6T available in some of the gradient colours and that is what just happened.

OnePlus released a Thunder Purple gradient variant of the OnePlus 6T during the flagship phone’s China launch. The new variant joins the Midnight Black and Mirror Black variants that were announced in New York earlier on. It also happens to be the first gradient hue that the company would be releasing. Surprisingly, OnePlus 6 was never released in any gradient colour despite the growing popularity of that styling since the Huawei P20 Pro was released with such design. The OP6 only had a Flame Red and Silk White colour variant. The company has perhaps realised there is likely a shift to gradient hues among its competitors and so, may have put its pricing consideration aside in releasing this one. We’re sure more of such would follow, if not on the OP6T but on its successor.

The OnePlus 6T Thunder Purple comes with a frosted glass back with deeper colours on the upper part around the camera while the lower part comes in purple. The darker colour and purple combination is a reflection of a dark sky briefly illuminated by lightning which gives it a purple appearance. The front also has black bezels just like the other variants. After unveiling its second flagship smartphone of the year — OnePlus 6T — at a launch event in India, OnePlus has now officially launched the phone in India. It will be available for purchase through Amazon India and OnePlus.in, starting from 1st November. It’ll be on open sale from 3rd November through Amazon, OnePlus Stores, OnePlus.in, Chroma, and Reliance Digital.

The OnePlus 6T will be available in India in two color options — Mirror Black and Midnight Black. The base model with 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage is priced at Rs. 37,999 (approximately $517) while the 8GB + 128GB model costs Rs. 41,999 (approximately $569). The top-end model with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage is priced at Rs. 45,999, which roughly converts to $626.

Those who pre-book the phone will get Type-C Bullets earbuds for free and Rs. 500 (~$7) Amazon Pay cashback. Reliance Jio is also offering a total cashback of Rs. 5,400 (~$74) in the form 36 vouchers. The company is also offering Free Damage Protection from Servify in partnership with Kotak Mahindra Bank.

The phone comes with a 6.41-inch Optic AMOLED display with 2340 x 1080 pixels screen resolution and 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The display carries support for features such as Adaptive brightness, screen calibration and reading mode. The screen is also protected by a layer of Gorilla Glass 6.

Instead of the regular rectangular notch, the phone has a much smaller “teardrop” notch, similar to the Oppo R17 which seems to be an inspiration for the OnePlus 6T’s design. The notch housers the front-facing camera and other sensors.

This is the first time OnePlus has opted to include an optical in-display fingerprint sensor instead of the regular one. The company calls it “Screen Unlock” and OnePlus claims that it’s the fastest-performing implementation of in-display fingerprint authentication yet. The other biometric security feature available on the OP6T is face unlock.

Under the hood, the device is powered by Qualcomm‘s flagship Snapdragon 845 octa-core processor. The phone comes with either 6GB of 8GB of RAM and there are three options for internal storage — 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB. The phone lacks microSD card slot so you won’t be able to expand the storage capacity.

As for the photography, it comes with a dual camera setup on the back, consisting of a 16-megapixel Sony IMX519 primary camera sensor with  f/1.7 aperture. It offers features like OIS, EIS and PDAF. It supports HDR, timelapse, 4K video shooting, slow motion video recording (1080p) at 240 fps.

The company is also promising better low-light photography experience through new Nightscape feature that relies on AI for capturing impressive shots in dim light surroundings. During the announcement, the company also revealed that the OnePlus 6 will get Nightscape through software update starting tomorrow.

There’s a 20-megapixel secondary sensor with f/1.7 aperture. On the front side, it comes with a 16-megapixel Sony IMX371 camera that supports EIS and 30 fps FHD video shooting. It has a new Studio Lighting feature, developed in collaboration with photographer Kevin Abosch, which aims to produce more flattering portraits.

The core of the new smartphone is essentially going to be the same as the OnePlus 6. However, there are going to be some really big changes when it comes to the external design of the phone. DESIGN:

Better Notch Implementation

OnePlus is making some significant changes in terms of design on the new OnePlus 6T. While the basic design on the back should remain the same as its predecessor, the front will see a new notch design. As with the OPPO R17 Pro, the OnePlus 6T will upgrade its front design to a waterdrop notch. To be honest, and I’m sure a lot of our readers will agree with me, the waterdrop notch has finally made notches bearable. In fact, unlike the traditional notch design, waterdrop notches look like a natural extension of the phone and the fact that you will most likely get a smaller chin at the bottom too (at least that’s what we are hoping after seeing the renders), we expect the screen to body ratio to increase up to 86%.

Revolutionary Screen Unlock

Another important change in terms of design is going to be the placement of the fingerprint sensor. The phone no longer has a physical fingerprint sensor cut out on its body, instead, it will get the new “screen unlock” feature. Yes, that’s the name for OnePlus’ in screen fingerprint technology and it is said to be really fast and efficient. That’s not what we’ve heard of in screen fingerprint sensors in general, but the company is known to refine existing features and personally, I m expecting the sensor to be good enough to replace traditional fingerprint sensors. The company has confirmed the new screen fingerprint feature on multiple occasions and we’ll know soon enough whether the implementation lives up to our expectation.

RIP Headphone Jack

Another confirmed news is that the OnePlus 6T will ditch the headphone jack. This move is a bit controversial especially since the company has been a solid advocate of a dedicated headphone jack until recently. The OnePlus 5T had it and so did the OnePlus 6. But the 6T will join the likes of Apple and Google in doing away with a dedicated 3.5mm headphone port. Instead, you’ll have to rely on Type-C and Bluetooth earphones for your music needs.

However, the company explains that saying goodbye to the headphone jack did have its benefits. The OnePlus 6T will have a larger battery (“substantial enough for the user to notice” — most likely 3700mAh) and this also opens up space for an in screen fingerprint sensor. Given the benefits, I’d personally say its not a bad deal. But not everyone agrees.

New Color Options

Not much is known about the color schemes of the upcoming OnePlus model, but it’s being said that the company is readying a purple color for the phone. If you remember, we had recently covered an article that showed a number of gradient color finishes for the current OnePlus 6 model which never saw the light of the day. The sunset red gradient, in particular, was my personal favorite. Maybe, this time, with the OnePlus 6T, the company could be bold enough to release a couple of gradient finishes. After all, that’s the trend going on right now in the market.

Note that the traditional midnight black and mirror black models are said to come as standard options for the new model apart from these additional variants.

No IP Rating or Wireless Charging

The OnePlus 6T is confirmed to be water resistant to a certain extent (just like the OP6) but it’s not going to be IP certified. The company explains that it’s not worth the additional cost of getting an IP rating certificate for the device. Further, even this year, we won’t be getting wireless charging on the device.

Now, I could have lived with a non-IP rated but water resistant OnePlus 6T, however, the lack of wireless charging, especially in this age where even the new Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 (which btw is priced very competitively) comes with a wireless charger inside the box (yes, no kidding!), it’s definitely a disappointment. However, the proprietary wired dash charging tech is going to be available on the new model as well, which btw is really really fast, so you can’t complain that the phone lets you down in the charging department.

OnePlus 6T Specs

In this department, expect minimal changes. So you should have the same Snapdragon 845 processor on board with a slightly better camera setup. The display will be a 6.4-inch FHD+ panel with nearly 86% screen to body ratio.

No 64GB Variant?

Recent rumors have claimed that the OnePlus 6T won’t have a 64GB variant, unlike its predecessors. Personally, I find it hard to believe that the company would skip the 64GB version in favor of 128 and 256GB variants. Rumor mill states that the OnePlus 6T Mirror Black will have 6/8GB + 128GB variants while the Midnight Black model will have 8+128/256GB variants. Unfortunately, these don’t come from verified sources so take them with a pinch of salt.

Improved Camera Setup

The front camera should be upgraded to a 20MP f/1.7 aperture setup for better selfies. The rear setup is said to be the same with 16MP+20MP f/1.7 lens, but with the help of AI, the company is will improve its overall camera performance. In fact, with the help of a special low light “Night Mode”, the phone should offer a much better night photography experience. This was one area where the 6 struggled to consistently get good quality images, so its successor is said to have improved in this particular department. Personally, don’t expect something like Google’s Night Sight where the difference is night and day. However, using AI, the overall performance of the phone in low light conditions could turn out to be better than its predecessor.

Bigger Battery

We know for sure that the OP6T is getting a bigger battery, however, an exact figure is unavailable from official sources. In a recently leaked battery label of the OnePlus 6T, it was seen to sport a 3700mAh battery. Considering how the OP6 did pretty well with its 3300mAh battery capacity, this kind of upgrade will definitely take the new model’s battery life to another level.

New UI

I’m sure many would agree when I say that OnePlus’ Oxygen OS is one of the best adaptation of Android in the market today. However, the new model is said to have some changes as compared to its previous iterations of UI. OxygenOs is said to get an overhaul with gesture only navigation, deep AI integration, and a lot more. This kind of makes me nervous since I like the current OxygenOS design but let’s hope for an even better experience after the overhaul. Further, its almost confirmed that the phone will come with Android 9 right out of the box.

In terms of benchmarks, OnePlus 6T scores 2387,8925 on Geekbench (similar to OP6) and 297132 in AnTuTu tests.

OnePlus 6T Price & Availability

We know for sure that the OnePlus 6T will launch on October 29 (not 30th!) in New York and October 30th in New Delhi, India. The phone goes on sale on Amazon India on November 2. Coming to the pricing, a price hike is in the cards. That has been the tradition so far and that’s likely going to continue with the OnePlus 6T as well. The OnePlus 6T has kept the media buzzing for a while now, ahead of its October 29 unveiling. Almost all of the details of the flagship model including the design are known already. The device has now appeared on GeekBench with the model number OnePlus A6013 to give us an idea of the device’s benchmark performance. Recall that the OnePlus 6 appeared on GeekBench with the model number A6003.  

The GeekBench listing reveals the presence of a Snapdragon 845 chipset and 8GB of RAM onboard the model. Thus, it is no surprise that the benchmark score is almost similar to those of the OnePlus 6. On the single core test, the OnePlus 6T polled 2387 points while on the multi-core test, it scored 8925 points. Compare it to the the OnePlus 6 single core test score of  2402 and multi-core test score of 8931 points.

The OnePlus 6T’s GeekBench listing also affirms the presence of the Android 9.0 Pie operating system out of the box. We also expect a 6GB RAM variant to be released as well.

Ahead of the October 29 official launch of the OnePlus 6T, the company’s CEO has shared a camera sample shot using the flagship model’s camera. The specification of the camera is not known but the camera sample shows the device will come with a powerful camera specs lineup.

The OnePlus 6T camera sample highlights the capabilities of the camera under low light condition. A recent report had tipped the OP6T to come with a night mode tailored specifically for low light conditions. From the watermarks on the camera, we can understand the device will feature a dual camera setup. The secondary shooter is likely a wide angle camera.

The device will obviously be powered by the Snapdragon 845 chipset and may likely run Android 9.0-based OxygenOS 9.0 which comes with AI optimizations for better photography. There is also an 8GB RAM+128GB storage variant as well as an 8GB+256GB version.

Today, a Swedish retailer, Webhallen has listed the OnePlus 6T ‘Ultimate Limited Edition’ on the website with a stock of up to 100 units. The listing is giving us a first look at the new packaging box of OnePlus 6T. The package also includes a tagline of “OnePlus 6T as well as a host of secret things.”

The OnePlus 6T ‘Ultimate Limited Edtion’ box at first gives a promising official look but upon retailer’s denial of any explanation makes it feel like a fake product listing. We are not denying any possibility of OnePlus 6T Ultimate Edition as OnePlus has launched limited edition devices earlier also. In the past, OnePlus 5T received a Star Wars edition while OnePlus 6 had an Avengers limited edition. So, the overall possibility of the special edition OnePlus 6T can’t be denied.

OnePlus 6T special variant is expected to host high-end specs of 8GB RAM with 256 GB storage along with some OnePlus accessories like cases, screen protectors, etc. Additionally, OnePlus 6T will carry Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 with a waterdrop display having an on-screen fingeprint sensors. It will be OnePlus’s first device to launch without a headphone Jack. OnePlus 6T is expected to come with the Android 9.0 Pie.

Our folks at MySmartPrice has managed to get some new pictures of the OnePlus 6T cases along with their pricing details. There are total six cases that OnePlus will be offering for their latest upcoming flagship. As seen in the images above we can see OnePlus 6T Karbon bumper Case priced for Rs 1990 (~$26). There’s another Black Flip cover with the pricing of Rs 1290(~$17) along with the Nylon bumper case. OnePlus has added a lot of variety this time as they have debuted Red Silicone Protective case and Sandstone Protective case at the price of Rs 1290 (~$17) and Rs 990(~$13). Overall there are three bumper cases (Nylon, Ebony Wood, Carbon) and two protective cases (Sandstone and Carbon).

These are the same cases that the Chinese company has made available for OnePlus 6. We expect some new type of cases for OnePlus 6T to match its waterdrop display and in screen fingerprint camera.

In a recent tweet and from a forum post on the OnePlus community, it is clear that OnePlus 6T is going to be the most widely available device of OnePlus in the UK. It will be available for purchase from different carriers like O2, EE and Vodafone. Even, users can directly buy the device from retailers such as Carphone Warehouse and John Lewis.

Further, in the same forum post, OnePlus revealed that the upcoming flagship device will be made available for purchase by November 6th. OnePlus has already started stocking up the device for the respective retail and network carrier partners.

OnePlus motive is to provide an ultimate experience of their products even before the customer buys a device. It will be made available in two different RAM variants of 6/8GB. OnePlus 6T will come on Android 9.0 Pie out of the box. In connectivity, there will be an NFC, USB Type-C, Bluetooth, WiFi and GPS. In sensors, OnePlus 6T will carry Light sensor, Proximity sensor, Accelerometer, Compass and Gyroscope.

OnePlus 6T is ready for launch on October 30, with some major changes than the typical T-series phones form OnePlus. This time some more significant changes have made it more interesting. As per the leaks and rumours, OnePlus 6T will come with a waterdrop display and an in-screen fingerprint sensor. Today, as per the resident software expert and user experience lead at OnePlus forums revealed some new aspects about OnePlus 6T User Interface. He started by saying that it will bring a whole new UI with new OxygenOS. It will be “a fast, smooth & burden-less experience with no gimmicks”. It will host “the most distinct and intuitive version of OxygenOS yet.” The UI expert, Szymon K revealed the goal “to express the OnePlus design language” in the new UI.

There will be new gestures like swiping up from bottom to right side would open a last used app. In the new iteration of the OnePlus 6, 6T will bring a gesture to open Google Assistant by holding the home button for 0.5 seconds. OnePlus has tested the new gestures around 1000 times to make motion feels natural. There will be no navigation bar, and everything will be based on gestures.

OnePlus has also focused on to improve its camera, so there’s no harm if you are expecting more better pictures from the OnePlus 6T camera. There will be deep AI integration which will help your device to learn the sleeping pattern and ultimately helps in reducing the power usage. There’s also an “advanced Do Not Disturb mode” based on the similar AI analysis.

Additionally, OnePlus 6T will carry Snapdragon 845 SoC with 6/8GB RAM option. It will come in three different variants of 64/128/256 GB of internal storage. Users will get a waterdrop display having more than 90% body-to-screen rate with an Optical in-screen fingerprint sensor. The increased overall size will help OnePlus to adjust a little bigger battery of 3700 mAh.

In a recent leak, it is believed that the OnePlus 6T will carry an Android 9.0 Pie out of the box.

OnePlus 6T is just a few days away from the official launch on October 30th. Ahead of its official launch, OnePlus is revealing some new information about its in-screen fingerprint sensor. The Chinese company took to Weibo to announce some details about the OnePlus 6T’s fingerprint sensor. The new device will feature an optical in-display fingerprint reader which brings higher accuracy and faster response times than the sonic based sensors.

Rather than just confirming about the in-screen fingerprint on OnePlus 6T, the Chinese firm has also provided some information about its fingerprint module. The optical sensor functions in a much better way than the sonic sensors but currently it’s new and is not adopted by various manufacturers. Vivo has used a similar optical-based sensor on Nex S, but it has not received excellent reviews. So, it would be interesting to see how OnePlus uses the same technology to get better results.

Despite being under the same parent company – BBK International, Vivo and OnePlus operate on a very different philosophy and aims. So, we can’t compare the Vivo Nex S performance or features with the upcoming OnePlus 6T. There can be different software optimizations or tweaked fingerprint reader on OnePlus 6T which can result in improved accuracy and faster response times.

OnePlus‘ upcoming flagship, the OnePlus 6Twill likely have as its biggest feature the in-display fingerprint reader it is expected to pack. That has been the subject of a couple of pre-launch promotional activities the company has been dishing out. The in-display fingerprint sensor is once again the subject of a new OnePlus 6T promo campaign released by OnePlus.

The video is part of the “Unlock The Future” campaign and it tries to relate the innovation that would be at play onboard the device to previous monumental innovations such as the Egyptian pyramids, the balloon of the Montgolfier brothers and the Moon landing by US astronauts. The company is basically telling us that it would keep up its innovativeness.

The video also showcases the bottom part of the device and we could see the USB Type-C port at the middle. The port is surrounded by two speaker grills at both sides which should be openings for the mouthpiece or perhaps the audio on the OP6T will see some improvements. We’ll find out about that when the device is launched. As for the launch, OnePlus is expected to launch the device on October 17 in India as seen in a leaked invitation letter. The company is yet to officially announce a date for the launch.

In the latest interview with CNET, OnePlus CEO, Pete Lau has shed some light on various aspects of their upcoming flagship device, OnePlus 6T. He explained every new perspective of the device and justified the headphone jack removal. He even talked about the new in-screen fingerprint sensor which will help you to unlock the device with ease. Despite the huge demand from users, OnePlus has taken a ‘tough’ decision to remove headphone jack. Additionally, OnePlus 6T is expected to arrive at an event on October 17.

In-Screen display explanation

In detail, Pete Lau explains that in-screen fingerprint will allow the users to complete the unlocking action with less number of steps. It is an efficient and reliable way to unlock the system than the new Face unlock tech. It will also help in unlocking the device without picking up the phone as we did in the OnePlus 6 due to the sensor’s presence on the back side of the device. Pete Lau added that “After you experience the Screen Unlock you’ll fall in love with it,” he said. “[You’ll] realize that it’s the experience that you wanted.”

Headphone jack removal justification

Removing the headphone jack has been the most challenging task for Pete Lau. He explained that despite the high demand removing a feature was not easy but ultimately they sorted it without the headphone jack. In a bid to explain the removal he added that “The most difficult task in the day-to-day is… finding a balance in what’s ultimately going to be part of the end product and what has to be said ‘No’ to.” The other reason for the removal is to make space for the in-screen fingerprint sensor. Even, OnePlus CEO justified it by giving a reference to the recent survey, where 59% of users have already opted for wireless headphones.

OnePlus 6T will be 0.45 mm thicker than its predecessor, OnePlus 6. Well, its CEO has hinted that features like on-screen fingerprint will make it little costlier. “Screen Unlock technology is something very new, and there’s a definite cost required for that new technology,” said Lau in the interview. “It’s not cheap.”

So let’s see what happens at the launch event on October 17th. It is expected to carry similar specs as the OnePlus 6 with some little changes in the design, display and fingerprint sensor. Recent leaks suggest that the device will come in two different colour variants such as Midnight Black and Mirror Black.

OnePlus is yet to officially reveal the launch date of the OnePlus 6T but there is no doubt its launch is just around the corner. An invitation letter that apparently is for the OnePlus 6T India launch has just leaked and it points to an October 17 launch date. This is the second time this date is coming out. An earlier leaked screenshot published a few weeks back had teased an October 17 launch. This one seems to confirm that date even though OnePlus is yet to officially reveal the date. 

Just like the previous OP6T teaser, the launch invite also contains the tagline “Unlock The Speed”. The tagline is believed to refer to the device’s new in-display fingerprint sensor. The OnePlus 6T is said to depart from the usual rear-mounted fingerprint sensor to make use of a fast sensor placed on the display. This feature has already been confirmed by the Chinese company.

The India launch may not be the first to take place or at most, it will run concurrently with a launch in Europe or the U.S. The device is already billed to be the first OnePlus model that would be backed by a U.S carrier as revealed a couple of weeks back. The OnePlus 6T is expected pack the same Snapdragon 845 chipset as the OP6 and buyers will have the option of either 6GB or 8GB of RAM. The 8GB model will come in either 128GB or 256GB of storage while the 6GB model will pair with 64GB storage only. with the latter model. Unfortunately, the 6GB of RAM variant will only be available with 64GB of storage. The device is expected to run on Android 9 Pie OS from the go with an overlay of the latest Oxygen OS 9.0 custom ROM.

It’s now sort of a tradition that OnePlus won’t stick to releasing one flagship model each year but two. The “T” model was born with the OnePlus 3T which was launched in 2016 barely some months after the OnePlus 3, followed by the 5T. The Chinese company is already working on the OnePlus 6T and the launch could happen soon. A new teaser has appeared online which sort of confirms the name as well as the water drop display design.

The teaser shows the front design and the most spectacular feature is the water drop notch design at the top of the display. The notch is different from that of the OnePlus 6 and looks more acceptable than the wider one on the OP6. This has been the subject of several leaks lately so, the purported teaser lends it some credence. We must state, though, that the teaser doesn’t seem to have emanated from OnePlus. So we can’t vouch for its authenticity. That doesn’t in anyway mean the OnePlus 6T isn’t in the works.

 Several leaked protective casing said to be for the OP6T had appeared previously to suggest the likely design the device would have. The rear isn’t very much different from that of the OnePlus 6 except that there is no rear fingerprint scanner. The OnePlus 6T is expected to pack an in-display fingerprint sensor. The device will also house a vertically aligned dual camera set up at the back. The device will also pack a Snapdragon 845 chipset onboard, 8GB RAM, up to 256GB storage, DASH charge, USB-C port but no 3.5mm audio jack.

OPPO and Vivo have only launched mid-range and upper mid-tier phones in the past few years, but both the companies surprised the smartphone industry by announcing OPPO Find X and Vivo NEX with advanced specs like motorized pop-up selfie camera, in-display fingerprint scanner and over 90 percent screen-to-body ratio screen. Now that the sibling brands of OnePlus have launched phones with innovative features, it seems that the OnePlus may launch the OnePlus 6T phones this year with aforementioned features. Concept renders of the OnePlus 6T that have surfaced in the recent past show that it will be arriving with features like notch-less display, popup front camera and more.

OnePlus 6T concept renders show that its front and rear sides feature glass panels with an aluminum frame in between. The handset is shown in colors like white, black, red and blue. It features a 6.4-inch Optic AMOLED display that does not feature a notch. The screen is shielded by the newly announced Gorilla Glass 6 protection. The handset is loaded with OxygenOS 5.1 flavored Android 8.1 Oreo.

Like the OnePlus 6, the 6T concept model is powered by Snapdragon 845. The RAM variants of the 6T are 6 GB and 8 GB. The storage versions of the concept model include 64 GB, 128 GB and 256 GB. The back panel of the phone features a tripe camera setup and at the front is the pop-up dual selfie camera setup like the Vivo NEX smartphone.

The concept renders of the phone states that it will carry support for 3D facial recognition. An in-display fingerprint scanner is also present on the OnePlus 6T concept model. It is packed with Dash Charge enabled 3,840mAh battery. Just as the OnePlus 5T was unveiled in the last quarter of 2017, the OnePlus 6T smartphone is expected to go official in Q4 2018.
