OnePlus released a Thunder Purple gradient variant of the OnePlus 6T during the flagship phone’s China launch. The new variant comes as a surprise addition to the Midnight Black and Mirror Black variants that were announced in New York earlier on. It also happens to be the first gradient hue that the company would be releasing. The BBK holding company has now announced via a tweet that the OP6T Thunder Purple is now on open sales in China. The tweet contains a link that redirects users to the product page on OnePlus’ website.

The OnePlus 6T Thunder Purple comes with a frosted glass back with deeper colours on the upper part around the camera while the lower part comes in purple. The darker colour and purple combination is a reflection of a dark sky briefly illuminated by lightning which gives it a purple appearance. The front also has black bezels just like the other variants. Aside from the frosted glass Thunder Purple gradient back, the device shares the same specs as the Midnight Black and Mirror Black variants. It is available only in 8GB RAM and 128GB storage coming with a price tag of $579.

OnePlus 6 was never released in any gradient colour despite the growing popularity of that styling since the Huawei P20 Pro was released with such design. The OP6 only had a Flame Red and Silk White colour variant, aside from the Midnight and Magic Black. The company has perhaps realised that a shift to gradient hues on flagship models among its competitors is fast gathering momentum. We’re sure more of such would follow, if not on the OP6T but on its successor.

OnePlus 6T has got another color edition in India. The Chinese smartphone maker has announced OnePlus 6T Purple color edition in India. The phone is available only with 8GB/128GB internal storage. Users can own it starting 11 am on November 11th via Amazon.in and OnePlus Store. OnePlus will also make it available via different offline stores such as Croma, Reliance digital and exclusive OnePlus zones. Buyers can own it by shelling out Rs 41,999 from their pocket along with few launch offers.

OnePlus 6T Thunder Purple edition is available with same specs but with a different color shade. It was first launched in China last week with a gradient color scheme and ‘S’ curve on the back. Along with India, OnePlus will make it available in the North American and other European markets from November 15th.  The new color edition gives you different color shades from different angles.

In the US, OnePlus 6T Purple edition will be made available for $579 with the same 8GB/128GB internal storage configuration. Particularly in India, OnePlus is offering Rs 1500 cashback for HDFC bank credit card and debit card users. Buyers can also get benefits of upto Rs 5400 from Jio. OnePlus 6T specs

Additionally, OnePlus 6T Purple edition carries the same 6.41 inch of waterdrop display with an in-screen fingerprint sensor. It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC and an octa-core processor coupled with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. In the camera department, users will get a 16-megapixel shooter on the front side while a 16+20 megapixel sensor sits on the back. Its front camera is packed with EIS (Electronic image stabilization) while the rear shooters pack both EIS+OIS. In connectivity, OnePlus 6T carries USB-C Type port, Bluetooth 5.0, WiFi and NFC.

OnePlus 6T is already available in the matte Midnight Black and the glossy Mirror black option. While the base model with 6 GB RAM and 128GB storage comes with the Mirror Black color only.

UPDATE: Along with India, the OnePlus 6T Thunder Purple color variant will also be launched in the United States and the UK. It seems that the new color option will eventually be available in every country where OnePlus sells its devices.

Last month, OnePlus announced its latest flagship smartphone, the OnePlus 6T. The device went on sale in India earlier this month in two color options — Midnight Black and Mirror Black. Now, the company seems all set to launch a third color variant in India — OnePlus 6T Thunder Purple.

The teaser posted by OnePlus India on Twitter says: “Elegance infused with the brilliance of thunderstorms. #ThunderPurple is coming.” The OnePlus 6T Thunder Purple color was introduced when the phone was officially launched in China last week.

While the company has confirmed that the new color variant will launch in India, OnePlus has not yet revealed the availability information. However, we expect the company to reveal more details in the coming days. As for the pricing, it will be pricing similar to the existing models in India.

Currently, the base model of OnePlus 6T with 6GB RAM costs Rs. 37,999 (approx. $521) while the 8GB RAM + 128GB storage model is priced at Rs. 41,999 (~$576). The top-end model with 8GB RAM and 256GB internal storage is priced at Rs. 45,999, which roughly converts to $631.

The OnePlus 6T features a 6.41-inch Optic AMOLED Full HD+ display and carries support for features such as Adaptive brightness, screen calibration, and reading mode. The display offers 19.5:9 aspect ratio and comes with a “waterdrop” notch instead of the regular notch.

It comes with an optical in-display fingerprint sensor which the company calls “Screen Unlock” and claims to be the fastest-performing implementation of such technology yet. Under the hood, the device is powered by Qualcomm‘s Snapdragon 845 octa-core processor with either 6GB or 8GB RAM and 128GB/256GB of internal storage.

The phone has a 16MP + 20MP rear camera and a 16MP front-facing camera. It comes with an impressive set of features such as Nightscape mode, which helps deliver impressive low-light photography; intelligent scene recognition, which detects objects in the frame and automatically adjusts settings; Studio Lighting for stunning portrait shots; among others.

The phone runs on OxygenOS 9.0, which is based on Android 9 Pie operating system and is powered by 3,700mAh battery that comes equipped with support for fast charging.

The Thunder Purple Oneplus 6T turned out to be the first gradient color model from the company. We know that OnePlus tried a lot of gradient options with the OP6, but couldn’t finalize one for release. However, it looks like this particular purple hue turned out to be good enough for their standards. So for those OnePlus fans who thought they missed out on a gradient back, this is definitely a welcome surprise.

We got our hands on with this particular version recently and the phone looks absolutely gorgeous. The color tone is softer than what we saw in the official renders and the transition from a blackish blue hue to a pinkish purple is seamless. What makes the Thunder Purple variant even more special is that there aren’t any other colors available for the 6T right now. The two other variants are both black, namely Midnight Black with a matte finish and Mirror Black with a high gloss finish. We are familiar with both since they are exactly the same finishes as seen on the older OnePlus 6 model.

In case you are wondering, the iconic ‘S’ line seen on the midnight black edition is also present on this gradient version. So the Thunder Purple variant has a similar matte finish. Also, the gradient color continues to the curved sides of the phone. So the power button is black while the alert slider gets a black hue.

Needless to say, the OnePlus 6T Thunder Purple is definitely one of the fanciest color options from the company so far. The RED Limited Edition OP6 was also beautiful, but we’ve got no details about a similar variant for the 6T so far.

Unfortunately, the Thunder Purple variant seems to be exclusive for China for the time being. That shouldn’t stop you from getting one though. Giztop has listed the phone for purchase online and in stock. Check it out if interested from here!

The recently unveiled variant is called Thunder Purple OnePlus 6T and it is different from the rest of the variants only by its appearance. In other words, the new variant boasts the same specs and features that the other variants will be loaded with. But there’s more for you to cheer about.

The Thunder Purple variant has now gone up for pre-order bearing a $619 price tag on Giztop. Hardware wise, the OnePlus 6T is quite an irresistible smartphone, given that it sports a big .41-inch AMOLED screen, equipped with world’s fastest screen unlock and an under-display fingerprint scanner. It is housed in a sturdy aluminum frame and features Corning Gorilla Glass 6 on top for added protection.

During the visit as reported by MrWhosetheboss, he got an extensive tour of OnePlus’ headquarters and along the line, he stumbled on a number of old OnePlus 6 Prototypes still on display. The prototypes adopt several colours such as blue, purple and several colour gradients. We had expected the Chinese giant to make the OnePlus 6T available in some of the gradient colours and that is what just happened.

Before the launch of the OnePlus 6T, there were reports the phone would come in a new purple color variant alongside the Mirror Black and Midnight Black variants. Unfortunately, OnePlus didn’t announce the color variant at the launch event. It appears the plan is to announce it at a later date. If you want to know what it looks like, then you should feast your eyes on these official press renders.

The OnePlus 6T Thunder Purple color variant is most likely covered in glass like the other variants. However, its purple gradient finish makes it stand out. The design reminds one of a dark sky briefly illuminated by lightning which gives it a purple appearance. Like the other variants, the Thunder Purple variant has black front bezels.

Other than the difference in colors, the Thunder Purple variant shares the same specs as the Midnight Black and Mirror Black variants. So you get a 6.4-inch optic AMOLED screen, a Snapdragon 845 processor, dual rear cameras (16MP + 20MP). There is also another 16MP sensor housed inside the notch.

The OnePlus 6T boasts an in-display fingerprint scanner, a 3,700mAh battery and runs Android Pie out of the box.

There is no info on a release date for the new color variant but we won’t be surprised if it is limited to certain regions and or limited to certain RAM and ROM configurations.
