OnePlus has sent a strong message that it isn’t the king of premium smartphones for nothing. The company has exhibited its promptness in releasing updates for its phones and we are impressed. TheOnePlus 7 Pro has just got the August security patch even before the clock hit August 1 in some regions.

It is rare to see this sort of swiftness in the Android phone sector. Even Google releases its updates for the Pixels on the first Monday of each month, before other brands follow. In most cases, it takes several weeks before the security patch for that month is pushed by the OEMs.  But that is not the case with OnePlus as it may have just become the first OEM to push the August security patch to its smartphones.

The update is an OTA update (over-the-air) and it ushers in OxygenOS 9.5.11 version. Apart from the important security fixes, it also packs optimizations for Adaptive Brightness, the “sensitiveness of the screen touch while gaming”, as well as accidental touches in the notification bar while in a call (this last one is desperately needed for older OnePlus models as well). Google’s suite of mobile services has been updated to the version from this June, and the “general bug fixes and improvements” also make an appearance.

The rollout will be in batches as only a handful of users have received the update. We expect the rollout to be expanded to more users in the coming days but that is if the version is bug-free.

OnePlus continues to send a steady flow of updates to its new flagship model, the OnePlus 7 Pro. The new OxygenOS 9.5.9 update brings a huge changelog including sound enhancement for the OnePlus Bullets Wireless 2 as well as improved photo quality in 48MP Pro mode. 

The major focus of the new update seems to be feature enhancements, specifically enhancing the user experience on the OnePlus 7 Pro. The update brings smoother visual effects and improved touch sensitivity on the device. Haptics has been improved as well, with better optimized haptic feedback for the keyboard. Other improvements include automatic brightness setting optimization, Face Unlock assistive lighting, support for VoLTE/VoWiFi for 3 SE and Telenor SE (EEA) and sound enhancement for OnePlus Bullets Wireless 2.

The camera has got a few upgrades as well, with faster auto-focus and faster switching from selfie to rear camera. 48MP Pro mode can now capture better quality photos and the camera offers advanced photo-stitching in Panorama mode. Finally, the update brings the June Android security patch to the OnePlus 7 Pro. 

Overall, the OxygenOS 9.5.9 looks like a solid update to an already great device. The update is already rolling out to devices in batches and if there are no issues, all OnePlus 7 Pro devices should get this update in the coming days.

OnePlus launched the OnePlus 7 Pro a few days ago with high-end specifications. The flagship device is now receiving its first update carrying features like DC Dimming, April Security patch and other last minute optimizations. OnePlus 7 Pro update will optimize the device’s Fluid AMOLED with DC Dimming technology. It saves eyes from unnecessary strain when using it in low-brightness. The technique adjusts the DC current to dim the display.  Users can access the feature by heading to Settings > Utilities > OnePlus Laboratory.

The update even enriches the experience with 90Hz refresh rate AMOLED display. The gamers can now enjoy the new Fnatic mode with enhanced gaming experience. It limits the background data usage so that the user can fully enjoy maximum bandwidth. Haptic feedback also improves the gaming experience with more control over vibrations. It can be turned on by going to  Settings > Utilities > Gaming mode. The update brings improvements to the camera.

Digital Wellbeing also features various new improvements with additional features such as Wind Down and Grayscale. The update includes the April Security patch for improved security enhancements. Changes such as smooth scrolling and general bug fixes are also part of the update, enhancing the overall device performance.
