While initially this problem had been claimed to be caused by the hardware, the company has now officially confirmed that it is a software issue and that it is actively working on providing a fix soon.</p>
<figure id="attachment_319010" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-319010" style="width: 478px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="wp-image-319010" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/VWzncpe-668x892.jpg?x10805" alt="OnePlus" width="478" height="638" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/VWzncpe-668x892.jpg 668w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/VWzncpe-668x892-225x300.jpg 225w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/VWzncpe-668x892-315x420.jpg 315w" sizes="(max-width: 478px) 100vw, 478px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-319010" class="wp-caption-text">OnePlus 8 Pro&#8217;s green tint issue on low brightness</figcaption></figure>
<p>The official statement provided by the company read, &#8220;We are looking into the &#8216;black crush&#8217; issue which we aim to address in the upcoming OxygenOS update. Please stay tuned for more information.&#8221; In other words, OnePlus is actively working on solving the issue and will offer a fix soon through an OTA update. Unfortunately, the company has refrained from providing any concrete deadline or other dates, but considering the severity of the problem, it should arrive soon.</p>

<p>For those unaware, OnePlus 8 Pro faced various issues for a number of users. This included black crushes on its AMOLED panel alongside other issues like a green tint on low brightness and more. Since then, the company has offered various updates that have fixed the issues for many users but the problem is apparently still affecting a few of the OnePlus 8 Pro owners.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-321193 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/op8pro-1.jpg?x10805" alt="oneplus 8 pro" width="676" height="421" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/op8pro-1.jpg 676w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/op8pro-1-300x187.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/op8pro-1-674x420.jpg 674w" sizes="(max-width: 676px) 100vw, 676px" /></p>
<p>The company rolled out a couple of updates last month and has also recently released <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/04/28/oneplus-fixes-green-tint-oneplus-8-pro-latest-update/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">the OxeygenOS 10.5.5</a> and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/05/05/oneplus-8-pro-oxygenos-10-5-6-update-brings-camera-centric-improvements/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">OxygenOS 10.5.6 updates</a> to address the problem. These have fixed the issue for a fair number of users but OnePlus states that the complete fix will arrive soon. So stay tuned as we will be informing readers of when the eventual update actually follows through.</p>

Some of the pre-order units were noticed to have issues with their display, with problems ranging from crushed/clipped blacks and even a “green tint.” The tech giant responded swiftly and promised to push an OTA that&#8217;ll fix the issue. Apparently, the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/04/28/oneplus-fixes-green-tint-oneplus-8-pro-latest-update/">OxygenOS 10.5.5 update was seeded to OnePlus 8 Pro units</a> and only fixed the green tint issue.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/oneplus.png?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-320700" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/oneplus.png?x10805" alt="OnePlus 8 Pro" width="585" height="543" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/oneplus.png 585w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/oneplus-300x278.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/oneplus-452x420.png 452w" sizes="(max-width: 585px) 100vw, 585px" /></a></p>
<p>OnePlus seems to have confirmed that the black crush display issue is a hardware issue. A post by a Reddit user reveals that the company is giving users facing this issue three options. The first is to send in the device for repairs at the service centre. Buyer may also return the device and get a refund. Finally, they could submit a replacement request on the website and get a replacement. <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/oneplus_8_pro-.png?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-318119" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/oneplus_8_pro-.png?x10805" alt="oneplus 8 pro best price" width="840" height="840" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/oneplus_8_pro-.png 840w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/oneplus_8_pro--150x150.png 150w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/oneplus_8_pro--300x300.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/oneplus_8_pro--768x768.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/oneplus_8_pro--696x696.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/oneplus_8_pro--420x420.png 420w" sizes="(max-width: 840px) 100vw, 840px" /></a></p>
<p>We couldn&#8217;t verify the authenticity of this claim but if it is true, it a welcome development. Most buyers will likely opt for the option of getting a replacement or a refund which can then be used to purchase a new one. The OnePlus 8 Pro sells for around $900 and that is so much to shell out and then proceed to get the unit repaired so early.</p>
