OnePlus unveiled the OnePlus 8T Cyberpunk 2077 Limited Edition in early November exclusively for China. This version of the company’s latest flagship smartphone features a unique design inspired by one of the most anticipated video games of all time. Now, the brand has announced to bring this handset to Malaysia but with a big twist.

According to a Facebook post by Oneplus Malaysia (via Lowyat), the company will be selling 1,000 units of  ‘OnePlus 12.12 Cyberpunk Mystery Box’ on Lazada on December 12 at 12 AM (local time). These boxes will be limited to one per customer and will only cost RM49 ($12).

Out of these 1000 boxes, 10 of them will include the OnePlus 8T Cyberpunk 2077 Limited Edition smartphone. To mix up the chances of getting gifts, Onplus will also be placing 10 units of the following four products in one of these boxes.

• OnePlus Buds White
• OnePlus Warp Charge 65 Power Adapter
• OnePlus Warp Type-C to Type-C Cable (150cm)
• OnePlus Type-C Bullet Earphones

Therefore, customers who buy the OnePlus 12.12 Cyberpunk Mystery Box, will have a 1% chance of obtaining any of the above products, including the said smartphone.

But thankfully, all of these boxes will come with an RM50 ($12) OnePlus Lazada Store gift voucher. Hence, customers won’t be losing any money if and only if they have plans to buy any other OnePlus product before February 24, 2021, at 11:59 PM when this voucher will expire.

OnePlus announced the OnePlus 8T Cyberpunk 2077 Limited Edition in China on November 2. The device not only has the Cyberpunk 2077-inspired accents in the outer body but has exclusive wallpaper, icon packs. Now, as per a report, the icon pack is extracted successfully and working fine on a few older OnePlus devices.

As reported by Piunikaweb(source), the icon pack has been extracted by a user name “Pink Leopard elf” on Chinese OnePlus forums. However, the link isn’t accessible outside of China as it asks for a login and a mobile number with ‘+86’ country code to download. That said, few users on OxygenOS forums were quick to access it. Besides, according to a few members, the Cyberpunk 2077 wallpaper is not that easy to get. Apparently, it is in a video form, and setting it via a third-party App seems to be a bit difficult. That aside, the icon pack on the Chinese forums seems to be for the HydrogenOS 10/11. Users of OnePlus 7 Pro, OnePlus 7, 8 Pro, 8T reported that the icon pack works fine. However, some on OxygenOS forums said that its either has half-baked icons or doesn’t work for them. This is understandable considering it’s just an extract & repack for other devices and it isn’t uncommon for it to be a bit buggy.

Anyway, talking about the icon pack itself, we got to see a glimpse of it on the hands-on pictures of the OnePlus 8T Cyberpunk 2077 Limited Edition. It has all the accents of the game baked into the icons with certain system apps having red-colored outer rings. For the unware, the device is a celebration of the upcoming role-playing action game “Cyberpunk 2077″ developed by CD Projekt.

Although it’s internally identical to the vanilla 8T, it has a complete overhaul of the outer design. There is a three-stage design on the rear with AG glass mid-segment and a carbon-like design at the bottom. As mentioned earlier, it has a special packaging, stickers, badge, icon pack, AOD style, and camera filters resembling the game.

The OnePlus 8T Cyberpunk 2077 Limited Edition has the same specification as the OnePlus 8T. However, the design has an entirely different outlook from the regular version in terms of design and software.

The model adopts a three-stage design. The top of the back panel resembles a window housing the camera array with the texts – ‘NETRUNNER EDITION’, ‘2077’, and ‘NEURAL CONNECTION STATUS: ACTIVE’. There’s also a barcode from the game.

Then, the mid-segment of the back panel is made of AG glass with the OnePlus logo embossed on it. The OPPO Reno4 Pro Artist Limited Edition uses a similar design. Finally, at the bottom, the panel sports a carbon-like design with Cyberpunk 2077 logo in yellow color.

For software, the device ships with Android 11-based OxygenOS 11 operating system but with a special theme, AOD style, and camera filters designed after the game.

Earlier this month, OnePlus announced its OnePlus 8T flagship phone in global markets. It held a dedicated launch event in China to unleash the same phone. At the event, the company also confirmed that it will be launching a special and limited version of the OnePlus 8T called the OnePlus 8T Cyberpunk 2077 Limited Edition. Today, the Chinese brand official confirmed that the special edition will be made official on Nov. 2 at 2 PM (local time) in the home market.
