Recent statistics show that the current smartphone sales are going on a downtrend as of 2023, and one of the reasons why is that smartphone upgrades were not as attractive as they used to be. So is it because smartphone manufacturers are not offering what the smartphone market demands? Recent sentiments among smartphone users say that there are 3 things we wish all smartphones will improve in the next 5 years – longer battery life, bigger storage space and better durability.

1. Longer battery life

First on the list is longer battery life. With the increasing demands on our smartphones – from streaming videos to playing video games to using GPS – it’s no surprise that smartphone battery life is a top concern. Users want to be able to use their phones all day without worrying about running out of juice. Manufacturers have responded with larger batteries and more efficient processors like the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, but there’s still room for more improvement in the coming years, considering that companies like Xiaomi have successfully developed solid-state batteries for more battery capacity.

2. Bigger storage space

Next up is bigger storage space. As we take more photos and videos and download more apps and music, our phones’ storage fills up quickly, especially if your device comes with lower than 256GB nowadays. Users want to be able to store all their content without having to constantly delete files or move them to the cloud. Some manufacturers offer phones with expandable storage options or large built-in storage capacities for their base models, but many users still find themselves running out of space.

3. Better Durability

Finally, users want better durability. Smartphones are expensive investments purchased and users want them to last. They want phones that can withstand drops and spills without breaking or malfunctioning. Manufacturers have responded with tougher materials like metal frames, strengthened drop-resistant Corning Gorilla Victus Glass Protection and water-resistant IP68-rated designs. Although accidents still happen, users would have better peace of mind if their device is better protected against accidents.

These three features – longer battery life, bigger storage space and better durability – are at the top of smartphone users’ wishlists. It’s clear that users want more from their devices and manufacturers would do well to listen to increase their sales.

Speaking of these features, OnePlus recently released their latest affordable mid-ranger, the OnePlus Ace 2V in China, with a large 5000 mAh battery, MediaTek’s flagship Dimensity 9000 SoC, a flagship-grade metal frame, and a 120Hz AMOLED display. The post 3 Things We Wish All Smartphones Will Improve in the Next 5 Years appeared first on Gizmochina.

Although 5G was only introduced less than 5 years ago, implementation has only really started picking up steam recently in countries such as the United States, Europe and India. The race for 5G technology is on and with it comes a new era of innovation and transformation in the smartphone industry. So these are the 3 ways 5G will transform the smartphone market in the next 5 years.

1. Better Smartphone Technology

5G technology will usher in a new era of smartphone technology. The low latency properties of 5G networks and improved download and upload data speeds will likely result in the mass adoption of virtual reality (VR), mixed reality (XR) and augmented reality (AR) applications. These technologies have been around for some time but have been limited by the capabilities of current mobile networks. With 5G, users can expect to see more immersive and interactive experiences on their smartphones.

2. Larger 5G coverage

5G will start to make an impact on the telecoms industry. Nearly all commercial 5G deployments to date have relied on non-standalone 5G (NSA 5G), which uses new radio technologies but still relies on existing network infrastructure. This means that telecom giants can deploy 5G today by leveraging the ecosystem and models in place for mobile broadband and enhanced mobile broadband while extending with more powerful cellular network connectivity. In turn, there will be larger and wider 5G coverage, meaning smartphones will not only be able to faster internet but stay on faster Internet for longer as well.

3. Smartphone Affordability

With prices for premium 5G smartphones expected to be up to 1000 USD for millions of customers, this applies significant pressure on telcos’ balance sheets. Up to 10 per cent of it can be tied up in receivables for smartphone-related affordability options. This could result in telcos offering more attractive financing options for customers looking to upgrade to a new 5G smartphone. And likewise, to appease telco companies, smartphone companies will be releasing more affordable 5G smartphones to the public as well.

OnePlus, recently announced the OnePlus Ace 2V, an relatively affordable 5G lower mid-range smartphone that features MediaTek’s flagship Dimensity 9000 SoC, a metal frame, and a 120Hz AMOLED display. It is available with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 512 GB of UFS 3.1 storage.

After OnePlus officially announced today that its OnePlus Ace 2V will be launched on March 7 in China, the brand quickly shared some teasers regarding the upcoming device’s premium build quality.

OnePlus posted on its official Chinese Weibo account today stating that it looks to forever change the mid-range smartphone market, as the upcoming OnePlus Ace 2V will be the brand’s first-ever mid-ranger to feature flagship-grade flat aluminium side-rails.

According to OnePlus, the OnePlus Ace 2V features a metal and glass unibody design that will have flat flagship-grade aluminium side rails, along with a premium glass back to boot, similar to the style that Apple employs in its iPhone 14 series. The brand exclaims that current flagship killers in the smartphone space, always feature polycarbonate plastic rails that made the overall ergonomics of the smartphone worse, clearly implying that cost-cutting was done in the durability department. And the OnePlus Ace 2V aims to be the first premium-feeling flagship killer with flagship-grade materials to boot.

Besides feeling good in the hands, the OnePlus Ace 2V is also advertised to be looking beautiful to the eyes, because of its narrow bezel. Louis Lee, CEO of OnePlus China, has shared a photo that the OnePlus Ace 2V will have side bezels as thin as 1.46mm, and a bottom chin bezel as thin as 2.31mm, for context that is comparable to flagships such as the Xiaomi 13, iPhone 14, and Samsung Galaxy S23.

Louis also shared more details of the OnePlus Ace 2V colour options, the Mint Green option will feature a premium glossy green glass black similar to the Oppo Find X5 Pro, and the Charcoal Black option will feature a frosted matte black finish on the back, found on its flagships such as the OnePlus 10 Pro.

Lastly, OnePlus announced that moving forward all of its future OnePlus Ace devices will be using flagship-grade aluminium for its side rails as well because it wants to set a high standard for durability and ergonomics in the flagship killer mid-range space.

According to reports, the OnePlus Ace 2V will have a 6.74-inch 1.5K AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, it will feature the Dimensity 9000 chipset, 16 GB of LPDDR5x RAM, up to 512 GB of UFS 3.1 storage, and a 5,000mAh battery with 80W charging support. It is also reported previously to be launching in the global markets as the OnePlus Nord 3 in July 2023.

After confirmation that OnePlus’ next device will indeed be called the OnePlus Ace 2V, a new image reveals how the upcoming device will look.

The official images give us a clear look at the upcoming smartphone’s design, as it features the iconic OnePlus alert slider, as well as a large design departure from the OnePlus Ace 2 that was announced this month.

The OnePlus Ace 2V shares design similarities to the OnePlus Nord 2T last year. It will be featuring a flat 120Hz AMOLED display with a centred punch-hole cutout in the middle, along with flat sides for a better grip in hand. The back of the OnePlus Ace 2V will be featuring a triple camera setup that is accompanied by a dual flash module, supposedly for better flash photography.

The official image also confirms that the OnePlus Ace 2V will be arriving in at least 2 colours, the glossy Jade Green as shown in the image, and a black colour design as leaked earlier by Digital Chat Station.

The launch timeline of the OnePlus Ace 2V in China was also leaked as well, as the device will be officially launching in China on March 7 at 2:30pm GMT+8. In addition, a pre-reservation of the device is expected to go live tomorrow at February 28 10:00am GMT +8 in the country.

The OnePlus Ace 2V is rumoured to be rebranded to arrive to global markets as OnePlus Nord 3. However, a global launch date for the OnePlus Nord 3 is previously rumoured to be in July 2023.

As of previous leaks on Antutu, the OnePlus Ace 2V will come with a flagship MediaTek Dimensity 9000 chipset, LPDDR5 / 5x RAM, UFS 3.1 storage, and Android 13 on board.

The OnePlus 11 and OnePlus 11R, two of OnePlus’s flagship smartphones, were recently released in India. The OnePlus 11R was previously launched as the “OnePlus Ace 2” in China. This time, there was no OnePlus 11 Pro smartphone to be seen. Now, OnePlus has said that it will streamline its selection of smartphones, with future launches limited to the Ace and Digital series. As a result of this choice, the well-liked Pro series will no longer be offered by the company.

Li Jie, the president of OnePlus China, held an interview following the release of the OnePlus Ace 2 smartphone in China and responded to some of the queries posed by the media. The President of OnePlus revealed during the interview that the company will no longer release OnePlus Pro devices in the future. In the future, the brand will strive to advance the Ace and digital series. Many OnePlus fans who have become accustomed to the Pro series serving as the company’s flagship product are surprised by the switch. OnePlus has clarified that this choice is part of a strategic effort to streamline its product line and concentrate on providing the greatest customer experience.

The Ace series’ objective is also very clear: OnePlus expects that it will carry the popularisation of the flagship experience and consumers at the same price will care about it. Leading standards and high hopes for the future will continue to make appropriate investments and expansion among the core group of OnePlus. It is hoped that it will serve as a performance benchmark for mobile phones, luring more customers who are concerned with the functionality of the mechanism to choose the OnePlus name and products.

The reputation of OnePlus has been built on its dedication to innovation and providing value to its customers. This new approach seems to be in keeping with that goal because it enables the company to concentrate its efforts on creating and polishing a smaller number of items rather than trying to do too much at once. It will be fascinating to see how the market reacts to this choice and whether the Ace and Digital series can step into the Pro series’ place.

The Ace and Digital series are primed to fulfil that promise, and we eagerly await what these new items have in store. The “OnePlus Pro” line of smartphones will undoubtedly be missed in the future. What are your thoughts on this? Please let us know by leaving a comment below in your own words. Many thanks for reading this post all the way through.

OnePlus is expected to officially announce the OnePlus Ace 2 smartphone alongside other products on Tuesday. Ahead of the unveiling, the company has shared several teasers that have given us an idea of what to expect. The latest teasers shared by OnePlus CEO Li Jie confirm that the device will ship with the latest Bluetooth 5.3 technology.

The Bluetooth 5.3 technology will bring features such as stronger anti-interference, lower latency, and a more stable connection compared to previous versions. The device has a dual Bluetooth antenna design, providing a seamless experience.

The teaser also confirms that the Ace 2 will come with Dolby Atmos technology. The technology will obviously deliver an immersive audio experience to users. Users will also be getting support for spatial audio on the Ace 2. Thus, the smartphone will be compatible with the upcoming OnePlus Buds Pro 2 flagship headset. The spatial audio technology will provide users with an even more immersive experience, whether they are watching movies, playing games, or listening to music.

Earlier teasers and leaks show that the OnePlus Ace 2 will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 flagship chipset and up to 16 GB of LPDDR5 RAM. The device will come with up to 512 GB of UFS 3.1 storage. The 5,000mAh battery onboard will be charged faster as the device is said to come with 100W SuperVOOC charging with the SuperVOOC S power management chip. The chip is said to enhance the phone’s battery life. charging. OnePlus also promised that the fast charging will only require 10 minutes to go from 0 to 50 percent.

In terms of imaging, the Ace 2 is expected to come with a Sony IMX890 flagship sensor. This has also been confirmed. The IMX890 is the same primary sensor onboard the OnePlus 11 and the company claims it is tuned by the same team that worked on the OnePlus 11. Also, the camera will have support for optical image stabilization (OIS) and uses the same RAW domain lossless computing technology onboard the flagship OP 11.

We’ll bring you more details about the OnePlus Ace 2 when it is officially announced tomorrow.

OnePlus smartphones boot vanilla ColorOS in China. Hence, with the advent of ColorOS 13, the brand’s handsets soon became part of the beta program as all of them are either flagships or upper mid-rangers.

Last week, all the remaining eligible OnePlus phones joined the Android 13-based ColorOS 13 beta program. Just a few days from that, Oppo has already revealed when most of these devices will receive the stable update.

Today, Oppo China disclosed the ColorOS 13 update plan for the month of November 2022. The schedule reveals the date on which the last remaining eligible OnePlus smartphones will get access to the stable update.

According to the timeline, the following OnePlus handsets will get access to the ColorOS 13 stable update on November 16 in China.

• OnePlus Ace
• OnePlus 9RT
• OnePlus 9R
• OnePlus 8T
• OnePlus 8 Pro
• OnePlus 8

The only device missing on the list is the latest OnePlus Ace Pro (aka OnePlus 10T), which recently got a Genshin Impact limited edition.

Hence, apart from the Ace Pro, all the eligible OnePlus phones will boot Android 13 stable software as early as mid-November in China. We wish we could say the same for global variants of these smartphones. Unfortunately, that doesn’t seem to be the case as of now.

Oppo has come a long way by improving its Android skin a lot. In fact, it currently has more models running the Android 13 stable build than Samsung.

AnTuTu, the popular benchmarking platform, has released the list of the top 10 best-performing flagship phones for the month of September in China. The list is populated by phones powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset. Surprisingly, MediaTek’s Dimensity 9000+ powered ASUS ROG Phone 6 has managed to beat the SD8+G1 to take the number one spot.

As seen in the image below, the ASUS ROG Phone 6D, which features the Dimensity 9000 Plus chipset, is leading the list of the top 10 best-performing smartphones. The variant with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage recorded an impressive benchmarking score of 1,123,036 on AnTuTu. The rest of the phones on the list are powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1.

The OnePlus Ace Pro is placed second in the list with 16 GB RAM and 256 GB storage. The handset scored 1,111,200 on AnTuTu. In third place is the iQOO 10 Pro’s 12 GB RAM + 512 GB storage edition. It recorded a score of 1,111,200.

The Black Shark 7S Pro, Lenovo Legion Y70, and iQOO 10 have ranked fourth, fifth, and sixth in AnTuTu’s list of best-performing Android flagship phones in September. These devices scored 1,088,074, 1,086,381, and 1,081,766 points, respectively. The Moto X30 Pro, Xiaomi 12S Pro, Redmi K50 Ultra, and Xiaomi MIX Fold 2 sum up the list with 1,068,685, 1,067,913, 1,068,766, and 1,054,035 points, respectively.

MediaTek is dominating the list of best performing sub-flagship phones for September. The Dimensity 8100 Max powered OnePlus Ace, OnePlus Ace Racing edition, and OPPO Reno 8 Pro+ 5G can be seen in the top 3 positions. The Vivo S15 Pro, Realme GT Neo 3, Redmi Note 11T Pro+, Redmi K50, OPPO K10 5G, and Redmi Note 11T Pro all featuring the Dimensity 8100 are ranked fourth to ninth. The last place on the list goes to the Snapdragon 870-powered Vivo S15.

ColorOS 13 is now available for more OnePlus devices in the beta form. The brand has kickstarted the closed beta initiative for four additional handsets, namely OnePlus 8, OnePlus 8 Pro, OnePlus 8T, and Oneplus Ace.

The ColorOS 13 closed beta program for these devices begins soon after the announcement of the software in China. Unsurprisingly, the initiative is limited to China as the global models boot OxygenOS.

The beta registrations of these phones are only live until today (August 31). We believe there could be multiple rounds of recruitment in the coming days.

As per the official update schedule, the OnePlus Ace will enter the open beta phase in September. It will be later followed by OnePlus 8, OnePlus 8 Pro, and OnePlus 8T in October.

Since Oppo is known for delivering stable update a month or two from the release of open beta builds, these handsets will most likely run the stable version of ColorOS 13 before the end of 2022.

We expect the same for the international variants as well. That’s because OnePlus has begun the OxygenOS 13 open beta program for them too. Hopefully, the brand doesn’t mess up this time around.

We regularly cover ColorOS update stories. So stay tuned to remain updated.

A couple of weeks back, Oppo unveiled ColorOS 13 for global markets. Yesterday, the company debuted its latest mobile software in China.

As expected, the firm also revealed the list of devices that will receive an update to this software. Unlike the global eligible list, this one includes OnePlus smartphones.

That’s because OnePlus phones run pure ColorOS in China. Whereas, in international markets, they boot OxygenOS, which is a fork of ColorOS.

With that out of the way, let’s take a look at all the OnePlus smartphones that will get access to the Android 13-based ColorOS 13 update.

OnePlus ColorOS 13 Update List

August 2022

• OnePlus 10 Pro

September 2022

• OnePlus 9 Pro
• OnePlus 9
• OnePlus Ace

October 2022

• OnePlus Ace Pro
• OnePlus 9RT
• OnePlus 9R
• OnePlus 8 Pro
• OnePlus 8
• OnePlus 8T

The aforementioned schedule denotes the start of the open beta program. The stable release may happen a month or two from the listed month.

It is worth noting that OnePlus has begun the closed beta program for almost all the handsets on the list, except for the OnePlus Ace Pro. Hence, expect the company to deliver the update in a timely manner.

If OnePlus follows the timeline, this will be the first time it will be pushing the latest Android update faster to multiple devices. Merging with Oppo seems to be doing wonders for the brand.

OnePlus is planning to launch its next flagship smartphone, the OnePlus Ace Racing Edition in China on May 17th next week. And as fans are eager to know the specifications of this upcoming flagship, one of the higher OnePlus executives shared today the display highlights of the company’s next flagship on his social media.

OnePlus CEO (China Market), Mr Louis Li, took to Chinese social media site Weibo today to announce that the company will be launching its next flagship, the OnePlus Ace Racing Edition, with a 120Hz LCD display.

In the teaser photo he posted on his profile, it seems that the OnePlus Ace Racing Edition won’t be using your conventional LCD display found on the lower-end smartphone market, the device will be sporting a fast 120Hz LTPS IPS LCD panel that supports variable refresh rates of 6 different frequencies.

Introducing variable refresh rates to these LCD panels, Mr Li claims that the OnePlus Ace Racing Edition will have better battery life numbers and the phone can last longer throughout the day when breaking a sweat. He raises an example of when you’re just viewing a still image on your screen, the phone’s screen will refresh at a slower rate, but it will bump up the refresh rate when you are doing gaming or scrolling through social media like TikTok and WeChat, to ensure that the maximum battery is saved and smoothness is always there when needed.

In addition, the company wants to be the first to produce a flagship with an LTPS LCD display because the company has heard from feedback that several of its fans prefer LCDs over AMOLED displays. Thus with the power of the flagship MediaTek Dimensity 8100 MAX chipset, coupled with a smooth 120Hz display, the OnePlus Ace Racing Edition is aimed at a specific niche of mobile power users who want flagship performance on fast screen for an affordable price.

As the OnePlus 10R has gone on sale in India yesterday, buyers in China have already started receiving their OnePlus Ace (the Chinese variant of the OnePlus 10R) devices in hand, and first impressions of the device have not been quite positive on social media, until OnePlus themselves had to start addressing the overheating issues to the mainstream press outlets in China.

According to the mainstream Chinese news outlet, Sina Finance, one Weibo user, had recently received his brand new OnePlus Ace device, and upon the first day of using the device, the user had already reported overheating issues that left the device uncomfortable to hold in the hands.

The user posted that he had only continuously played a mobile game for an hour but the device’s battery temperature had already reached a high 43.7 degrees Celsius, and the CPU was at 46.5 degrees Celsius. Another Weibo user had also chipped into the conservation by sharing a video showing that his OnePlus Ace battery came in even higher at 44.6 degrees Celsius, and the CPU was at an uncomfortable 60.4 degrees Celsius.

And it does not seem like the cases are standalone cases as well, as more and more buyers of the OnePlus Ace had joined in on the Weibo topic until the hashtag “#OnePlus Phones So Hot That It Burns Hands” (translated from Mandarin to English) was one of the trending searches on Weibo yesterday.

Addressing the matter, OnePlus has reached out to Sina Finance for a reply to the public stating that the aforementioned Weibo user had been playing Genshin Impact for an hour, and he felt that the phone was overheating because his hands felt uncomfortable when the phone was reaching temperatures of around 42 degrees Celsius. Thus, the buyer felt like the OnePlus Ace(rebranded globally as OnePlus 10R) he got had quality control problems.

In the press reply, OnePlus reiterates that in reality, the phone reaching high temperatures during gaming is a common occurrence, the high temperatures that the users have experienced are well within expectations and are considered normal, and it will not affect the daily functionality of the smartphone.

The OnePlus Ace was originally launched in China on April 21st, and the phone was then the first-ever phone to feature the MediaTek Dimensity 8100 MAX which promised higher performance over the standard Dimensity 8100. The device was then launched globally as the OnePlus 10R as it made its debut in India on the 28th of April.

The post OnePlus Ace smartphone officially goes on sale in China; pricing starts at 2,499 yuan ($382) appeared first on Gizmochina.

The OnePlus Ace went official a few days ago and a lot of people called it a rebrand of the Realme GT Neo3. But is that the truth? According to previous rumors, the new flagship killer would have a lot in common with the GT Neo3 and that is what made a lot of people think it was going to be a rebrand. The truth is that the OnePlus Ace is not exactly a rebrand: it has a lot of specifications in common with the Realme GT Neo3, but they are not the same device and there are a few important differences in their specs sheets. This comparison between their specifications will explain to you all of these differences.

Realme GT Neo3 vs OnePlus Ace

Design

The design of the Realme GT Neo3 is very sportive and it can even be considered gaming-centric. It comes with a rear side sporting two vertical stripes thanks to which the design reminds of a sports car. It is an original design just like the ones of every other phone from the GT series. With the OnePlus Ace, you get a very original design as well, but it is more elegant and more suitable for normal users instead of gamers. With its flat borders and its singular camera module, it is very suggestive. Both the phones come with a front glass protected by Gorilla Glass 5.

Display

The displays of these two phones are exactly the same. We are talking about an OLED panel that shows up to one billion colors with vibrant tones and deep blacks. The diagonal of the panel is 6.7 inches, pretty good for gamers and power users. They come with a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2412 pixels, a 120 Hz refresh rate, the HDR10+ certification, a peak brightness up to 950 nits, and an optical in display fingerprint reader. We are not talking about a flagship-class display, but it is definitely a high-end panel providing great image quality and a very smooth user experience. For the first time on OnePlus and Realme phones, the punch hole is placed in the middle of the flat panel.

Specs & Software

The OnePlus Ace is a superior phone in terms of hardware because it has a slightly better chipset: the MediaTek Dimensity 8100 Max built with a 5 nm production process and running at a max frequency of 2.85 GHz. The MediaTek Dimensity 8100 Max has the same CPU and GPU performance as the MediaTek Dimensity 8100 found on the Realme GT Neo3, but the AI performance is improved. Further, the OnePlus Ace comes in a memory configuration providing a higher amount of internal storage: up to 512 GB. On the other hand, the GT Neo3 has a more affordable variant with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of native storage, while the Ace starts with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. The operating system is Android 12 on both phones, customized by ColorOS 12.1 and Realme UI 3.0, respectively. Note that the ColorOS 12.1 has a few more features than Realme UI 3.0, but they are almost the same user interface as the Realme UI is based on ColorOS.

Camera

Even the camera department is exactly the same. On the rear side, you get a triple camera with a Sony IMX766 main sensor sporting a 50 MP resolution and OIS, as well as an f/1.9 focal aperture. The Sony IMX766 is paired with an 8 MP ultrawide lens and a 2 MP macro camera. The phones are able to record 4K videos at 60 fps. Inside the punch hole, there is a 16 MP selfie snapper with an f/2.5 focal aperture.

Battery

The Realme GT Neo3 and the OnePlus Ace come with the same 4500 mAh battery and 150W fast charging, but there is an additional variant of the former with a 5000 mAh battery and 80W fast charging.

Price

The Realme GT Neo3 starts from €328/$355 in China, while you need at least €360/$389 for the OnePlus Ace. Overall, the Ace is a slightly better phone due to its Dimensity 8100 Max chipset and ColorOS 12.1, but a lot of people would prefer the 5000 mAh version of the GT Neo3 in order to get longer battery life.

The Ace series is back for real, but this time it is not under the OPPO brand. The new handset from the lineup announced a few days ago is the OnePlus Ace: so the Ace series was transferred to OnePlus. Just like its predecessors, the new device is a flagship killer offering high-end specifications at an affordable price. Soon, the handset will be launched in the global market: it will debut in India under the OnePlus 10R moniker. While waiting for its global launch, we decided to compare it to the best and most handset by Xiaomi in the same price range, when it comes to the flagship killers. This is a comparison between the specifications of the Redmi K50 and the OnePlus Ace.

Xiaomi Redmi K50 vs OnePlus Ace

Design

The OnePlus Ace came to the market with a brand new design. It comes with two different textures on the rear side and a singular camera module that reminds the one found on Samsung flagships as it sticks to the borders of the phone. It also comes with flat borders like the latest iPhones. It is definitely more elegant and original than the Redmi K50; further, it is even thinner and lighter than the Xiaomi flagship killer. That is the reason why it wins the design comparison. But you should not underestimate the Redmi K50 due to its build quality: it has the IP53 certification making it dust resistant and splash resistant, as well as a glass back and a front glass protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus.

Display

The OnePlus Ace and the Redmi K50 are close when it comes to the display quality. The OnePlus Ace is interesting in terms of color reproduction because its OLED panel is able to show up to one billion colors. The display has a diagonal of 6.7 inches, a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2412 pixels, a 120 Hz refresh rate, and the HDR10+ certification. The Redmi K50 offers a higher Quad HD+ resolution, so you get a higher level of detail, and besides the HDR10+ standard, it supports Dolby Vision. But it is not able to show one billion colors and, unlike the OnePlus Ace, it does not come with an in-display fingerprint reader but it has a side-mounted one.

Specs & Software

The OnePlus Ace has a slightly better hardware department because of its processor: it is fueled by the MediaTek Dimensity 8100 Max, an upgraded version of the MediaTek Dimensity 8100 found on the Redmi K50 which improves the AI performance.  But consider that CPU and GPU performance remains the same. With the Ace, you can also get more internal storage: up to 512 GB, while the Redmi flagship killer stops at 256 GB in its most expensive version. Both the handsets run Android 12 with highly customized and updated user interfaces on top: MIUI 13 and ColorOS 12.1, respectively.

Camera

The OnePlus Ace is a better camera phone because it packs a better main camera: we are talking about a Sony IMX766 sensor with a 50 MP resolution and OIS. The Redmi K50 supports OIS too, but it has an inferior 48 MP main camera. The secondary sensors are the same: an 8 MP ultrawide sensor and a 2 MP macro lens. Even the front cameras are the same, with the Ace sporting a slightly brighter f/2.4 focal aperture.

Battery

If you are looking for longer battery life, then go for the Redmi K50 without thinking twice. It is equipped with a huge 5500 mAh battery, one of the biggest ones found on a flagship killer. But if you prefer having the fastest charging technology in the world, then go for the OnePlus Ace: its 4500 mAh battery supports 150W fast charging.

Price

Currently, the Redmi K50 and the OnePlus Ace are only available in China. The former sells for €340/$368 in its base variant, while the latter starts from €360/$389. The Redmi K50 comes with a more interesting display and a bigger battery, while the OnePlus Ace sports a slightly better processor, a better main camera, and faster charging. Which one would you pick?

Xiaomi Redmi K50 vs OnePlus Ace: PRO and CONS

Xiaomi Redmi K50

PRO

• Bigger battery
• IP53 certification
• Quad HD+ display
• Bluetooth 5.3

CONS

The rear panel has a two-tone color scheme with vertical lines going all the way down like a waterfall. The camera island of the device also comes with a unique look, occupying the top-left edge of the back panel to house the triple camera and LED flash.

On the front, it sports a 6.7-inch OLED display that has an FHD+ resolution and also supports a 120Hz refresh rate, 360Hz touch sampling rate, and even a 720Hz gaming touch sampling rate as well. Last week, OnePlus unveiled the OnePlus Ace smartphone through multiple teasers. Scheduled to launch on April 21st in China, the device has had many of its specs confirmed by the brand or leaked online through tipsters, so let’s look at what this device has in store for us.

Display & Design

Design-wise, the smartphone is quite distinct from the previous OnePlus devices. It features a design inspired by straight lines and has a flat-edged frame with rounded corners. The rear panel has a two-tone design on the back with multiple straight verticle lines providing texture. The camera island of the device also comes with a unique look, occupying the top-left edge of the back panel to house the triple camera and LED flash.

Additionally, to make the device easier and more comfortable to hold, the brand has also included a subtle edge arc on the back using “2.5D step processing.” OnePlus has officially revealed that the Ace measures 8.2mm in thickness and weighs 186 grams.

On the front, the device features a flat E4 AMOLED display measuring 6.7-inches. The panel is said to have a Full HD+ resolution with a 120Hz refresh rate and HDR10+ support. The screen has a punch-hole cutout in the top center for the front camera.

Specs

The OnePlus Ace is confirmed to feature the MediaTek Dimensity 8100 SoC under its hood coupled with LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. With this charging solution onboard, users will be able to charge their devices from 0% to 100% in less than 17 minutes.

Cameras

Going by the leaks so far, the OnePlus Ace’s triple camera setup is said to be headlined by a 50-megapixel Sony IMX766 primary sensor. Accompanying the primary sensor, the phone will likely bring along an 8-megapixel Sony IMX355 ultra-wide lens, and a 2-megapixel macro sensor. On the front side, the smartphone will have a 16-megapixel Samsung ISOCELL S5K3P9SP lens for taking selfies and video calling.

Relatedly, OnePlus has made it clear that the OnePlus Ace will only launch in China. Outside of China, the device will come with the OnePlus 10R moniker and feature the Dimesity 8100-Max chipset rather than the Dimensity 8100.

An official live stream of the OnePlus Ace has been released and it provides a compelling view of the device. The OnePlus Ace is due for release in China on April 21 according to official renders. The screenshots from the latest live stream however indicate an April 24 launch date for the Ace which is likely when it will go on sale.

The current details indicate that pre-reservation benefits include a free Bluetooth speaker and membership in a video platform. This could be in addition to an early-bird discounted price for the device.

The OnePlus Ace is quite distinct on its own but bears some semblance to the OnePlus 10R. Its flat sides, rounded edges, and other ancillary designs give it a unique look. In terms of its components, the OnePlus Ace has a USB-C port, a bottom-firing speaker, and an IR blaster at the top.

Not much is known about the display of the OnePlus Ace, as the renders and live images omitted it. The OnePlus Ace is rumored to have the highest version of the Dimensity 800 SoC. This has been confirmed by the Geekbench result for a OnePlus PGKM10. Outstanding details of the OnePlus Ace are expected to pop up in the next couple of days. There is still speculation about the device which could also be launched in India shortly.

There are going to be 3 launch events next week. One of them will take place in India, while the remaining two will be held in China. As far as the devices are concerned, a total of 4 phones are expected. There will be a single entry-level, whereas the others will be mid-rangers.

Talking about brands, the three separate events will be headed by Xiaomi, Realme, and Oneplus respectively. With that out of the way, let’s take a look at all these upcoming smartphones one by one.

Upcoming Smartphones Next Week

Redmi 10A

At the end of March, the Redmi 10A made its initial debut in China. The entry-level smartphone is now heading to India on April 20 (Wednesday). Though Xiaomi hasn’t revealed the timing for the virtual event yet, we can expect it to begin at 12 PM on Redmi India’s official YouTube channel.

The Redmi 10A is almost the same as the Redmi 9A from 2020. The only major difference between the two is the presence of a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor on the newer model, in addition to a slightly tweaked back design.

The device comes with a 6.53-inch HD+ display (LCD), MediaTek Helio G25 SoC, 13MP rear camera, 5MP selfie camera, MicroSD card slot, 3.5mm headphone jack, MicroUSB port, 5,000mAh battery, and 10W charging support.

Realme Q5 Series

Realme has scheduled a launch event in China for April 20 (Wednesday) at 2 PM CST. The company has confirmed to announce the Realme Q5 series at this conference. According to teasers and leaks, three models are expected, namely Realme Q5,  Realme Q5 Pro, and Realme Q5i.

The Realme Q5 Pro is said to arrive with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 SoC, 6.52-inch 120Hz OLED display, 50MP (wide) + 8MP (ultra-wide) + 2MP (macro) triple camera system, 16MP selfie camera, 5,000mAh battery, and 80W fast charging.

On the other hand, the Realme Q5i is tipped to come with a 6.58-inch FHD+ display (LCD), Mediatek Dimensity 810 chipset, 13MP + 2MP dual-camera setup, 8MP selfie camera, and a 5,000mAh battery.

Unfortunately, the specs of the Realme Q5 are a mystery for now.

Oneplus Ace

On April 21 (Thursday), Oneplus will be holding a launch conference in China at 7 PM CST. The star of the show will be Oneplus Ace. The upper mid-range smartphone will be accompanied by accessories like Oneplus Buds N and Oneplus Bullets Wireless Z2.

The forthcoming Oneplus Ace is nothing but a tweaked Realme GT Neo 3. The only major difference between the two is the rear design. The Ace is also set to go official in India later this month as Oneplus 10R.

The Oneplus Ace will offer features like a 6.7-inch 120Hz AMOLED display, Mediatek Dimensity 8100 SoC, LPDDR5 RAM, UFS 3.1 storage, 50MP (wide) + 8MP (ultra-wide) + 2MP (macro) triple camera setup, 16MP selfie camera, dual stereo speakers, 5,000mAh battery, and 80W/150W fast charging support.

Yesterday, OnePlus confirmed the official Chinese launch date of the upcoming OnePlus Ace smartphone. The device is set to go live on April 21 at 7:30 PM in China. Now, before its official launch, the president of OnePlus China has released a long article revealing some details about the upcoming smartphone.

OnePlus Ace design inspiration and details

According to an ITHome report, OnePlus China president Li Jie states that the design of the OnePlus Ace is inspired by straight lines to deliver a powerful and speedy look. To make sure that the users feel comfortable while holding this device, the company has provided a subtle edge arc using a “2.5D step processing.”

The verticle straight lines on the back of the device are inspired by waterfalls to again provide a sense of speed. Other than that, the executive shared that the device weighs 186 grams and is 8.2mm thick. To reduce the thickness of the device, OnePlus has redesigned the body to make it “flatter.” The OnePlus Ace has a flexible OLED flat screen which goes along with the straight line aesthetics.

As we know, the OnePlus Ace has been officially teased and is about to launch later this month. However, before the launch, live images of the smartphone have surfaced online. According to MyDrivers report, the images come directly from OnePlus’s live stream, where the phone was announced and set to debut on April 21st in China. The images revealed that the device will indeed omit the popular Alert slider and will come with silver and black color options carrying a two-tone texture on the back. The camera module on the back houses one large lens and two smaller lenses, along with an LED flash.

OnePlus Ace specifications (rumored)

The OnePlus Ace will arrive with a 6.7-inch OLED panel that offers a Full HD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. It will be powered by the Dimensity 8100 chipset, have up to 12 GB of LPDDR5 RAM, and up to 512 GB of storage. It will house a 4,500mAh battery that supports 150W fast charging. On the front, it will have a 16-megapixel camera for selfies, and its back panel will feature a 50-megapixel triple camera unit. It will run on the Android 12 OS and come with an in-screen fingerprint scanner. The device will also come to markets outside China carrying the OnePlus 10R moniker and will launch on April 28th.

Earlier today (14th April 2022), the reservations for the OnePlus Ace went live in the company’s home market of China. The smartphone’s launch is just around the corner, and bookings are now open.

The Chinese smartphone maker had just recently confirmed the launch date for the upcoming Ace, which will be announced on April 21 in China. Interestingly, prior to the launch of the device, the founder of the brand, Pete Lau, shared his thoughts regarding the new device. The official claimed that the Ace is the best phone to feature the Dimensity 8100 processor. For those unaware, this chip is based on the 5nm process tech from TSMC and is one of the latest current gen SoCs from MediaTek.

Notably, the Ace model will likely be rebranded as the OnePlus 10R for the Indian market, so they should feature identical specifications. From what we know so far, the Ace will sport a 6.7 inch AMOLED display that has an FHD+ resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and an in display fingerprint scanner. Under the hood, a large 4,500mAh battery pack will power the device, along with support for a whopping 150W fast charging.

The front is expected to feature a 16 megapixel selfie shooter while the rear consists of a triple camera setup. This will include a 50 megapixel primary sensor. The device will also likely boot Android 12 OS out of the box and offer up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 512GB of internal storage. The device’s reservations are currently like on major e-commerce websites in China, so stick around as we will be covering the launch event.

The post OnePlus Ace bookings go live in China, Pete Lau calls it the best Dimensity 8100 phone appeared first on Gizmochina.

The OnePlus Ace, the upcoming midrange phone from OnePlus. It has so far been spotted on the 3C and Geekbench databases. The listings have revealed its 150W charging capability and the Dimensity 8100 SoC.

Now, OnePlus has teased an upcoming device via the Chinese microblogging site – Weibo. The teaser includes a partial image of the back panel of the device in two different colors. It also somewhat confirms the Ace moniker, as it’s visible in the poster.

Previously, the device was tipped to be a rebranded Realme GT Neo3, but looking at the images, the divide may feature some physical differences. Firstly, its camera module completely covers the top left side of the device, akin to what we’ve seen in the Galaxy S21 series. Another difference from the GT Neo3 would be the edges, which in the case of the OnePlus Ace appear to be flat.

Other than that, the OnePlus Ace teaser reveals that the device will come with a triple rear camera setup along with an LED flash. The OnePlus Alert slider is nowhere on the poster so the device will likely omit this feature.

So far, rumors state that the OnePlus Ace will have a 6.7-inch OLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate. It is said to come with a 4,500mAh battery with a 150W fast charging support. Under the hood, the device will house a Dimensity 8100 SoC paired with up to 12GB of RAM.

Apart from this, the phone is expected to come with multiple cameras at the rear. It will have a 50MP Sony IMX766 main lens. Since the OnePlus Ace will be a rebadged model of the Realme GT Neo3, we can expect it to have a punch-hole FHD+ screen, with an in-screen fingerprint scanner. The device is expected to be equipped with a triple camera system with a 50MP main lens, 8MP ultra-wide, and a 2MP macro lens.

OnePlus will soon launch the OnePlus Ace smartphone in China. The smartphone’s specs were tipped last time and we learned that it is none other than a rebadge of the Realme GT Neo3. While the company is yet to officially confirm its specs, the Geekbench listing has it all for us. The phone has passed the certification website and revealed key specs.

The OnePlus Ace has the model number PGKM10. The device has 961 points in the single-core department and 3795 points in the multi-core department. It is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8100 octa-core SoC clocked at up to 2.85Ghz. The phone has 12GB of RAM and boots on Android 12 OS.

A tipster previously revealed that the OnePlus Ace will have a 6.7-inch OLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate. It is said to come with a 4,500mAh battery with a 150W fast charging support. This is the same capacity and speed as the Realme GT Neo3. This hints that the OnePlus Ace will be a rebadged model.

Apart from this, the phone is expected to come with multiple cameras at the rear. It will have a 50MP Sony IMX766 main lens. In addition to this, the company’s COO Lin Fenshuo was also spotted using the OnePlus Ace on Weibo. Unfortunately, he didn’t reveal any details.

Since the OnePlus Ace will be a rebadged model of Realme GT Neo3, we can expect it to have the following specs. The phone could come with a punch-hole FHD+ screen, in-screen fingerprint scanner, and Android 12 OS. The device is expected to equip a triple camera system with a 50MP main lens, 8MP ultra-wide, and a 2MP macro lens, just like the GT Neo3.

We aren’t sure if the Ace will also be available in different battery and charging capacities. However, we should learn more about it soon.

Last week, there were multiple leaks regarding upcoming Oneplus products. Hence, we thought to put them together for our latest weekly compilation. For the unaware, we at GizmoChina, bring you a roundup article every Monday discussing select stories from the previous week.

In this week’s episode, we will talk about five Oneplus leaks. Of which, two of them are very interesting as they are regarding a foldable and a new series.

With that out of the day, let’s take a look at these leaks one by one.

Oneplus Leaks from Last Week

Oneplus foldable in the works

Last Friday, tipster Yogesh Brar revealed that Oneplus is working on a foldable smartphone. Unfortunately, it is not a  self-developed device. The handset is merely a copy of Oppo Find N, which is sold exclusively in China.

Hence, the upcoming Oneplus foldable phone could be just a new name for the Oppo Find N for international markets.

It is not known what Oneplus will call its first foldable smartphone. Just like other brands, the company will most likely use the ‘Fold’ branding, such as ‘Oneplus Fold’.

We are looking forward to learning about the device’s price and availability in the coming days.

Ace series to return with Oneplus at the helm

Oppo killed the Ace series after the launch of Oppo Ace 2 in 2020. Realme’s GT series replaced this lineup offering products at multiple price points.

On Friday, a Chinese media house (Whylab) disclosed that Oneplus will bring back the Ace series from the dead. This device carries model number PGKM10 and it is nothing but a rebranded Relame GT Neo 3.

The phone will likely release as Oneplus 10R in some markets. Because we have been hearing about it for a long time and it shares almost everything with the Realme GT Neo 3.

In a nutshell, the Oneplus Ace could be limited to China, like the previous two Ace-branded handsets from Oppo. On the other hand, the Oneplus 10R may launch in India and even Europe (doubtful).

Oneplus Nord 2T to feature Dimensity 1300 SoC

On Friday, Mediatek quietly announced Dimensity 1300 SoC, the successor of the Dimensity 1200 chipset. A day earlier, a leak had already revealed that this chip will be present inside the upcoming Oneplus Nord 2T.

The design of the Oneplus Nord 2’s successor was also disclosed in the same leak via renders. The phone will have two large circles on the rear, however, only one of them will be fully occupied with a large OIS-enabled 50MP Sony IMX766 sensor. Whereas, the second circle will house weird-looking tiny 8MP Sony IMX355 ultra-wide unit and a 2MP monochrome sensor.

Other features of the handset will include a 32MP Sony IMX709 front-facing camera, LPDDR4x RAM, UFS 3.1 storage, 6.43-inch FHD+ AMOLED display, dual stereo speakers, alert slider, 4,500mAh battery, and 80W fast charging.

The Oneplus Nord 2T is rumored to launch in late April or early May.

Oneplus 10 could be powered by Dimensity 9000 SoC

On Thursday, tipster Yogesh Brar once again tweeted that Oneplus is working on a smartphone housing a MediaTek Dimensity 9000 chipset. He suggests that this phone will probably go official as the Oneplus 10.

For the first time, Oneplus didn’t release a vanilla flagship model alongside the Pro (Oneplus 10 Pro) this year. At the same, the brand is also rumored to working on an ‘Ultra’ model.

The company is yet to officially tease either of these handsets. However, the so-called Oneplus 10 Ultra is rumored to debut at the end of Q3.

Oneplus Nord N20 is an Oppo mid-ranger for the US

On Wednesday, PCMag exclusively revealed details about the upcoming Oneplus Nord N20. Going by the report, the upcoming Nord for the US will be nothing but a tweaked version of Oppo A96 5G sold in China.

The international OPPO A96 is already official in Southeast Asia as Oppo Reno 7Z 5G. It is expected to release in India and Europe as Oppo F21 Pro 5G and Oppo Reno7 Lite 5G respectively.

The Oneplus Nord N20 is said to debut in the US later this month with features like a 6.43-inch FHD+ AMOLED display, in-screen fingerprint sensor, Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 SoC, 64MP (wide) + 2MP (macro) + 2MP (depth) triple camera system, 16MP selfie camera, 4,500mAh battery, 33W fast charging, and OxygenOS 11 based on Android 11.

The post Oneplus’ first foldable, Oneplus Ace, Nord 2T, and more Oneplus leaks from last week appeared first on Gizmochina.

We have often seen brands under the BBK group launching rebadged models of an original device. For instance, the upcoming OnePlus Nord CE 2 Lite’s design appears to be borrowed from the Realme 9 Pro, and the OnePlus’ upcoming foldable phone is said to be nothing but the Oppo Find N rebadge.

Similarly, now a new OnePlus device has come into the news and it could be a rebadged model of the Realme GT Neo3. The phone is apparently called the OnePlus Ace and the company COO Lin Fenshuo is already using it.

On Weibo, Lin Fenshou shared an image on his feed and interestingly, the device he was using was the unreleased OnePlus Ace. Furthermore, the popular tipster WHYLAB has shared a reference image of a smartphone and shared the specs sheet of this device.

As per the tipster, this device carries the model number PGKM10 and judging by the specs, it is a forthcoming mid-range phone. Do note that this device was seen a few weeks back on China’s 3C certification site.

The OnePlus Ace or the PGKM10 device is touted to have a 6.7-inch OLED panel. It could be a punch-hole screen with a 120Hz refresh rate. The device is said to come powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8100 SoC. For those unaware, this is a new mid-range chipset which we also see in the recently launched Realme GT Neo3.

As far as optics are concerned, the phone will have a 50MP IMX766 main lens. The details for the rest of the camera sensors haven’t been revealed. For the battery, the device is tipped to house a 4,500mAh cell with a whopping 150W fast charging support.

Apart from this, OnePlus hasn’t explicitly revealed any details of this phone, however, the company was expected to release a Dimensity 8100 phone soon and this could be that device.
