OnePlus just unveiled its latest Nord series of mid range smartphones, with the OnePlus Buds 4 tagging along. These are the brand’s latest pair of TWS earbuds, succeeding the OnePlus Buds 3. So here’s a quick comparison showcasing everything new and all of the upgrades.

While both earbuds feature a dual driver setup, the latest OnePlus Buds 4 has a larger 11mm woofer that uses a 30-layer ceramic-metal diaphragm and a 6mm flat-diaphragm tweeter. Meanwhile, the older Buds 3 pack a 10.4mm woofer with a 6mm tweeter. So on paper, the newer model should offer deeper bass.

Another incremental upgrade is the newer Bluetooth 5.4 standard on the Buds 4 compared to the Buds 3’s Bluetooth 5.3. Active Noise Cancellation

ANC is a popular feature on TWS earbuds, with both earbuds offering ANC and transparency mode. However, the OnePlus Buds 4 offers up to 55dB of noise cancellation, which is another slight upgrade from 49dB on the Buds 3. There are also three stages of ANC levels available on both models.

Battery & Charging

On a single full charge, the OnePlus Buds 3 can last for up to 10 hours with ANC off (58mAh), which can be bumped up to 44 hours with the charging case (520mAh). Turning on the ANC reduces the battery life to 6.5 hours on the buds alone and 28 hours with the case. On the other hand, the OnePlus Buds 4 promise 9 hours of audio playback with ANC off (62mAh) and up to 45 hours with the charging case (520mAh). The battery life falls to around 6 hours on the buds with ANC enabled, but you still get a total of 37 hours when paired with the case.

Pricing and Verdict

OnePlus just announced the Buds 4 for 5,999 INR in the Indian market, which is a 500 INR price hike over the Buds 3’s original 5,499 INR launch price. However, the OnePlus Buds 3 is selling for around 4,299 INR, and there are even some offers that reduce the price further.

So if you’re in the market for a solid TWS that doesn’t breach the 5,000 INR price range, the Buds 3 is a great pick. Considering how there are only minor upgrades overall, the Buds 3 is the better deal. But for gaming enthusiast and those who want the latest and greatest, the Buds 4 shouldn’t disappoint either.

OnePlus has launched its new Buds 4 true wireless earbuds in India, priced at Rs. 5,999. The new earbuds arrive alongside the Nord 5 smartphone series and expand OnePlus’ fourth-generation audio lineup in the country.

OnePlus Buds 4 Specifications

The OnePlus Buds 4 are available in Zen Green and Storm Grey colors. They feature a dual-driver setup with an 11mm woofer that uses a 30-layer ceramic-metal diaphragm and a 6mm flat-diaphragm tweeter.

The earbuds also include dual DACs to improve frequency separation. OnePlus claims a wide frequency response of 15Hz to 40kHz, along with support for Hi-Res Audio and LHDC 5.0 codec at up to 1Mbps and 24-bit/192kHz.

The earbuds support adaptive noise cancellation up to 55dB across a 5,500Hz range, which OnePlus claims is its most powerful ANC to date. They include an Adaptive Mode that switches automatically between ANC and transparency based on the surrounding environment. For calls, the Buds 4 feature a triple-microphone setup and use an AI Clear Call algorithm to enhance voice clarity in noisy conditions.

OnePlus has also added a new AI Translation feature that offers real-time language translation activated by a triple-tap gesture, though it is exclusive to select OnePlus phones. The earbuds also support OnePlus 3D Audio, personalized Golden Sound tuning, Sound Master EQ presets, and BassWave 2.0 technology for enhanced bass performance.

But while the Ace 5 Ultra packs MediaTek’s flagship Dimensity 9400+ SoC, the Nord 5 will pack a Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset. OnePlus claims that this is its fastest Nord ever, which also packs the largest VC cooling and supports 144fps for BGMI and CODM (via frame interpolation).

On the other hand, the Nord CE 5 carries a more affordable price tag and is a rebranded global version of the Ace 5 Racing Edition. There will be some tweaks like the Dimensity 8350 SoC over the Dimensity 9400e chipset. The Nord 5 may house a massive 6,700mAh or 7,000mAh battery pack, but the Nord CE 5 could be powered by a larger 7,100mAh cell.

Lastly, the third product that will be launching next month is the OnePlus Buds 4. Teasers have confirmed features like near lossless sound and Dual DACs with 6mm tweeters and 11mm woofers.
