On February 7, OnePlus will host the Cloud 11 global launch event. At this event, the brand will debut the OnePlus 11, OnePlus 11R, and OnePlus Buds Pro 2. The OnePlus 11 and OnePlus Buds 2 are already available in China for about a month.

The OnePlus Buds 2 is rumored to cost around Rs 10,900 ($133) for Indian buyers. Ahead of the OnePlus Buds Pro 2 launch, the brand has slashed the prices of the OnePlus Buds Pro.

The OnePlus Buds Pro originally retailed for Rs 9,990 but has since undergone a Rs 1,000 price reduction. After a price reduction, customers can now buy the premium TWS earphones for Rs 8,990. The price cut is available on all three color options of the OnePlus 11 including Radiant Silver, Matte Black, and Glossy White.

Additionally, the brand is also giving offers to customers looking to buy the OnePlus Buds Pro. Buyers of the earbuds will get an instant discount of Rs 1,000 if they use an ICICI bank credit card for the purchase. Similarly, a cashback of Rs 500 can be claimed on purchases made by a MobiKwik wallet.

In terms of features, the OnePlus Buds Pro has 11mm drivers, Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity, and 3 microphones for ANC (Active Noise Cancellation). The 37mAh batteries inside the earbuds, which are IP55-rated for splash resistance, allow for up to 7 hours of music listening without ANC.

A 520mAh battery is included in the charging case with USB Type-C cable charging and Qi wireless charging. With no ANC, the combined life of the three batteries is up to 38 hours.

Other than that, the OnePlus Buds Pro has access to the “Dual Connection” feature that enables easy swapping between two connected devices. It also has an Audio ID, which calibrates sounds according to the user’s preferences. There is also a Zen mode feature that lets users choose from a list of white noises to reduce stress and help in meditation, yoga, and sleeping. Earlier this year, OnePlus launched the special edition OnePlus Buds Pro in China. The special edition Buds Pro came with a silver color paint job, which is officially called ‘Mithril’. The upcoming color variant has been listed on the OnePlus India website and Amazon India. A few months back, OnePlus launched the OnePlus 10 Pro flagship smartphone in China with a refreshed design and the latest hardware. The device is now arriving in the Indian, European, and North American markets this month.

OnePlus has officially announced that the OnePlus 10 Pro will be launched on March 31 (7:30 PM IST) in the aforementioned markets. The flagship phone will be accompanied by the OnePlus Buds Pro in the new Radiant Silver color. Interestingly, the Indian region will also get the OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z2.

OnePlus 10 Pro Specifications 

The OnePlus 10 Pro global model is expected to have the same specs as the Chinese model. The device comes with a new design sporting a 6.7-inch LTPO 2.0 AMOLED display with 2K resolution. It has a variable refresh rate from 1Hz to 120Hz. The screen has 1300 nits of peak brightness, Gorilla Glass Victus protection, and a 92.7% screen-to-body ratio.

The smartphone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC, paired with LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 internal storage. It has an under-display fingerprint scanner for added security. The device has a triple camera system at the rear with a 48MP Sony IMX789 sensor with OIS support.

It has a 50MP Samsung ISOCELL J1 secondary lens, and lastly, an 8MP telephoto lens with OIS and 3.3x optical zoom support. This time around, the cameras on the flagship are co-tuned by Hasselblad. It packs a 5,000mAh battery and has 80W SuperVOOC wired fast charging and 50W AirVOOC wireless fast charging support. The phone boots on the Android 12 OS in China.

OnePlus Buds Pro and Bullets Wireless Z2 Features 

The OnePlus Buds Pro has 11mm drivers and supports Bluetooth v5.1. It has Active Noise Cancellation support and packs a 37mAh battery. The TWS earbuds offer up to 7 hours of music playback without ANC and the charging case. With the charging case, it offers up to 38 hours of battery life with ANC disabled.

The OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z2 was leaked recently. The necback-style earbuds are tipped to come in Blue and Black colors. The earbuds will come with 12.4mm dynamic drivers and offer a battery life of up to 30 hours. It will have a fast charging support that will offer up to 20 hours of playback with just 10 minutes of charge.

It will have Bluetooth v5.0 and an IP55 water and dust resistance rating. The earbuds are expected to come with magnetic controls.

Even in their designs, the Buds Pro looks a lot more young and stylish with its dual-tone matte finish. So even though AirPods Pro’s all-white design looks elegant, I personally like the dual-tone, matte + metallic combination. It’s unlike other earbuds in the market and stands out from the crowd in its price segment. 

Each earbud weighs 4.35g, while the charging case weighs 52g. The earbuds have a good, tight fit in my ears and can be used during workouts as well. I have used the OnePlus Buds Pro during my workouts at the gym and even while running on the treadmill, and so far, I have been pretty confident that these earbuds won’t fall off during my runs. 

Coming to the case, the OnePlus Buds Pro has a flat and squarish charging case, unlike the previous generation models. The matte finish on the case ensures it doesn’t attract fingerprints or scratches in your everyday use. The overall style looks pretty premium, and the fact that it’ll likely remain scratch-free over the course of time is reassuring. If you have used earbuds with glossy cases, you know how many scratches it can get overtime. So this is a definitive advantage for the OnePlus Buds Pro. 

While the case looks premium, you might doubt the built quality at first. Initially, the lid of the case felt a bit weak and I wondered whether the case would survive a fall. But fortunately, the flat design gives a good grip and makes it less likely to encounter a drop. Over the course of time, I have grown to trust the quality of the case too, so I don’t really have any complaints about its design. For a pair of earbuds under ₹10,000 (€150), this design is extremely good.

The case comes with a USB-C port and supports wireless charging as well. 

As for the operations, once again, OnePlus has taken inspiration from the AirPods Pro. So you have to squeeze the stem for controls. I personally prefer this over other earbuds which support touch inputs. Squeezing the stem feels like a better way to control your earbuds and the implementation is pretty good. However, there’s a slight delay in the control response, which you’ll have to get used to. But apart from that, operations like single, double, and long presses work well without any glitches.

Note that the OnePlus Buds Pro is IP55 rated, so it is dust and water-resistant. What’s even more interesting is that the case also gets an IPX4 rating. 

OnePlus Buds Pro Review: Sound Quality

The sound quality will always be the most important aspect of any earbuds. While the previous generation OnePlus earbuds were decent, the company seems to have hit the right mark with its new OnePlus Buds Pro. 

The OnePlus Buds Pro puts the 11mm drivers to good use, generating deep bass and decent mids and highs. You may find that the earbuds rely a bit too much on the lower end spectrum, but for someone who prefers a good and tight bass output, these earbuds won’t disappoint. 

Sometimes, the bass may overpower the highs and mids. However, unless you are a purist who absolutely needs crystal clear vocals and crisp treble, the OnePlus Buds Pro won’t disappoint. These earbuds are good for your typical EDM, hip hop music, so basically genres that enjoy a solid low-end grunt. However, if there are a lot of instruments involved, you might encounter some loss of details. 

That said, for someone who has used AirPods Pro everyday, I still come back to the Buds Pro in between to appreciate the bass. A lot of premium headphones are tuned for balance, which often sacrifices on bass to focus more on the mids and highs. But there are some genres of music that can only be justified with a solid bass response, and for them, look no further than the OnePlus Buds Pro in this price segment. 

To conclude, if I had to use two words for the sound signature of the OnePlus Buds Pro, it would be ‘Bass-heavy’ and ‘Fun’. These earbuds feels a lot more immersive than other balanced earbuds in the market.

Note that while the Buds Pro supports LHDC codec, there are very few smartphones in the market that support it. In fact, even OnePlus hasn’t yet rolled out support for LHDC on its latest smartphones. So right now, you’ll have to stick to AAC for listening to good quality music.

OnePlus Buds Pro Review: Noise Cancellation

Being the first Active Noise Cancellation earbuds from OnePlus, I was curious to see how good the noise cancellation would be. The Buds Pro is priced in a segment where there are pretty good competitors for this feature, so a sub-par experience would immediately put it at a disadvantage.

To start off, the Buds Pro features 3 modes for noise cancellation. Faint, Smart, and Extreme. Unfortunately, I couldn’t perceive any major difference when switching between these three modes. The adaptive smart mode implementation was also not very good. 

In short, for all purposes, it’s safe to assume that there’s just one noise-canceling mode, much like the AirPods Pro. 

The OnePlus Buds Pro manages to come close to the premium earbuds in the market with its noise cancellation. If I had to give a figure, I would say the Buds Pro cancels out around 80% of what AirPods Pro can do. For its price, this is already pretty good. 

The earbuds can cancel out everyday noises like people’s conversation in the background, or your regular traffic. But it won’t be able to cancel out some higher frequency sounds. 

While the ANC is not perfect, for its price, it’s still pretty good. With the ANC turned on, the earbuds definitely help you get an immersive music, audiobook listening experience. 

The transparency mode is not as good as the Airpods Pro, but it’s fine as you can still have a decent conversation in this mode. 

OnePlus Buds Pro: Battery Life & Operation

The OnePlus Buds Pro comes with a 520mAh charging case and 40mAh batteries inside each earbud. This is good enough for around 5 hours of playback time with ANC on at a moderate volume. The case will get you an additional 20 hours of playback time. 

Overall, battery life is pretty decent on the Buds Pro and at par with other earbuds in the market with ANC. 

Like most OnePlus devices, the OnePlus Buds Pro works best with the latest OnePlus devices. This is because some features like low-latency gaming and Dolby Atmos are limited to recent OnePlus models in the market, like the OnePlus 9 series.

The earbuds come with Bluetooth 5.2 support. If you are using a recent OnePlus smartphone, you can take advantage of Fast Pairing and the settings for the earbuds can be found right inside your Bluetooth menu. For others, you can go through the usual pairing process and the experience is pretty smooth. Further, you can download and install the Hey Melody app on non-OnePlus devices to tweak the earbuds settings. 

I have paired my Buds Pro to an iPhone and a OnePlus device, and the connectivity and range are similar on both models. I would also like to point out that the OnePlus earbuds have a pretty good range, and it’s as good as my AirPods Pro. 

The three microphones are good enough for voice and video calls. It’s not as clear as some premium earbuds in the market, but you shouldn’t have any major issues while talking through these earbuds. 

OnePlus Buds Pro review: Verdict

OnePlus seems to have finally nailed it with the Buds Pro in this competitive earbuds landscape. The company’s decision to focus on the low-end grunt with its new earbuds helps it stand out from its competitors. A balanced output would have been good, but it’s already being offered by a lot of earbuds in the same price range. 

The OnePlus Buds Pro focuses on being more fun and bassy, and will definitely cater to a set of audience who likes an immersive, exciting music experience every day.

What I miss though is an equalizer, which would have added a much wider sound range to these earbuds. Another drawback is the lack of support for other codecs like aptX and aptX HD.

But overall, I would recommend the OnePlus Buds Pro to anyone who loves a punchy, bass-heavy sound output, more so if you are an existing OnePlus user.

The OnePlus Buds Pro has received mostly positive reviews since it launched. If you are on the search for a pair of premium earbuds that don’t break the bank, the Buds Pro will most likely be on the list of recommended ones.

OnePlus has put a price tag of $149/€149/₹9,999/¥799, on the earbuds which is a fair price. However, not everyone can afford this. If you want a pair of OnePlus TWS earbuds that don’t cost as much as the Buds Pro, you will have to be patient as a leak has revealed the manufacturer is working on one.

The source of the info is Max Jambor of All About Samsung who is known for his OnePlus-related leaks. According to a tweet posted earlier today, the manufacturer is working on a new pair of headphones with active noise cancellation (ANC). This pair of earphones will be “Some sort of Lite edition of the Buds Pro” he says.

We do not know when the pair of earbuds will be announced but we won’t rule out a possible arrival before the end of the year. We also presume it will sit between the OnePlus Buds and the OnePlus Buds Pro in terms of price, so we may see it priced around $99 where it can compete against the likes of the Pixel Buds A series and the Nothing ear (1).

OnePlus is yet to announce a successor to the OnePlus Buds Z, its cheapest pair of earbuds yet. Will this new pair of earbuds be the successor to the Buds Z? Only time will tell.

Last month, OnePlus launched the Buds Pro TWS earphones with the latest Bluetooth V5.2 and impressive features like ANC, IP55 water resistance, and Qi-certified wireless charging. Given that it has Bluetooth v5.2, the pairing process and the range is quite good. It is also fairly simple to switch between one device to other by disconnecting and connecting to the new one. But, it still misses out on one significant feature which lets the buds connect to two devices simultaneously.

The earbuds miss out on a feature called Bluetooth multipoint that allows the earbuds to connect to two devices at once and switch to any of the devices easily. This feature is useful when you want to listen to music on your phone and immediately switch to the desktop for some audio work. Well, OnePlus seems to bring this missing feature to the OnePlus Buds Pro soon and it could be called – dual connection.

OnePlus in talks with the folks at XDAdevelopers revealed that the company will bring a feature called “dual connection” in future software updates. The feature will let users switch between two devices without any hassle.

Although it is coming, we aren’t sure if it will work similarly to what other wireless pairs of buds offer with their multi-point pairing. Nonetheless, we’ll have to wait for the next OTA update. Once, we receive some more information on the same, we’ll update the post.

OnePlus Buds Pro pricing has been announced in India. 

Last month, OnePlus launched its third TWS, the Buds Pro, alongside the Nord 2. The Buds Pro is the first smart adaptive noise cancellation (ANC) earbuds from the company. 

Today, OnePlus announced the pricing for the Buds Pro in India. The OnePlus Buds Pro is priced at Rs. 9,990. It brings a bunch of features, including adaptive noise cancellation, superior call quality, Warp Charge.

The buds offer an in-ear design with a short stem. These earbuds come in a new look featuring both glossy and matte textures. OnePlus says that the new design gives earbuds a sleek and ergonomic look with a secure, comfortable wearing experience. 

The OnePlus Buds Pro features two 11mm, dynamic drivers, with improved bass performance and Dolby Atmos support. The new earbuds come with a smart ANC noise cancellation system with three different levels. The ANC is said to cancel out undesired sound frequencies in real-time with up to 45db noise cancellation in Extreme Mode and 25db in the ambient mode. The Buds Pro comes with Bluetooth 5.2 support, with a latency as low as 4ms. You can control the playback or change the mode using the touch controls provided on the stem.

The Buds Pro promises to deliver a battery life of up to 38 hours on a full charge and 10 hours of continuous playback on a 10-min charge. The case comes with Qi certification, allowing users to charge the buds wirelessly. The buds come with IP64 certification, while the charging case offers IPX4 ensuring resistance against sweat and dust. The Buds Pro comes with Zen mode, allowing users to choose a list of white noise during different activities such as yoga, meditation, or sleeping.

The OnePlus Buds Pro will be available in India starting 26 August 2021 in two colors, Matte Black and Glossy White. The buds will be going on sale through  OnePlus.in, Amazon.in, OnePlus Experience Stores and partner stores across the country.

They are priced at £139 in the United Kingdom while they cost €149 in the European market. Pete Lau has been teasing the features of the OnePlus Buds Pro on Weibo since yesterday (July 26). However, it is worth noting that this product is already official in global markets and it is scheduled to go on sale from late August. Hence, we know everything about it.

So why is he teasing the features of a product which is already official? Because the price reveal for the Chinese market will be happening on July 29. The brand is also expected to announce the sale date on the same day.

Coming to the main topic, as per Pete Lau, the OnePlus Buds Pro offers better low-frequency noise cancellation than the Apple AirPods Pro. This is a bold claim as Apple’s premium TWS has set a benchmark for truly wireless earphones since its release.

Pete says that Apple is a strong competitor since it also ‘values the experience and pursues the ultimate’. Hence, his brand has one-upped the performance of the OnePlus Buds Pro over the AirPods Pro by doing a  lot of special comparisons and optimization adjustments.

Last but not least, he believes if a OnePlus product has become better than Apple’s, then his brand’s products must have reached a higher level to a certain extent.

OnePlus has officially announced the OnePlus Buds Pro alongside the Nord 2 smartphone. The Buds Pro arrives with a premium design and several powerful features crammed inside the compact body. The new premium earbuds are an upgrade over the OnePlus Buds which was launched last year.

One of the prominent features onboard the TWS earphones is support for Adaptive Noise Cancellation technology support. This is an improvement over the Environmental Noise Cancellation utilized by the OnePlus Buds. The smart ANC actively drowns out unwanted sound frequencies like environmental noise or chatter in real-time. It also adjusts the noise cancellation level, providing a completely immersive user experience.

The premium earbuds are each equipped with three microphones that are capable of filtering out noise levels of up to 40dB. This ensures the delivery of a better and more comfortable sound output adapted to different situations. OnePlus claims this gives the Buds Pro an edge over earbuds packing just the conventional Active Noise Cancellation systems whose noise cancellation levels are fixed. Calls are also designed to be noise-free even in loud environments due to the enhanced noise reduction algorithms and mechanical design aimed at reducing wind noise.

In terms of design, the wireless earbuds come in matte black and white colour variants. The body has a glossy metallic covering on the steems to offer a better operating experience and for sweat and dust resistance. Internally, the earbuds each feature two large 11mm dynamic drivers and Dolby Atmos support. The earbuds also come with the OnePlus Audio ID sound profile carefully calibrated to cater to user-specific sound sensitivities.

Another major improvement on the Buds Pro is the battery life. The earbuds come with an upgraded battery which can last up to 38 hours along with the carry case. The earbuds themselves can last 7 hours without ANC while the charging case can provide an additional 3 hours. When the ANC is turned on, the earbud lasts for 5 hours while the charging case delivers 23 hours extra. Further, a 10-minute wired recharge of the Buds Pro’s case will provide 10 hours of battery life, thanks to the Warp Charge support onboard. The truly wireless earbuds also offer Bluetooth 5.2 support and latency as low as 94ms with Pro Gaming mode turned on.

A few days ago, the OnePlus itself confirmed that the company will be launching its latest true wireless earphones — OnePlus Buds Pro on 22nd July along with OnePlus Nord 2 5G. It seems that the brand is looking to compete against the likes of Apple AirPods Pro with its upcoming earphones.

Now, the China-based company has revealed a new feature of the TWS earphones, confirming that it will come with “adaptive noise cancellation” technology support. The OnePlus Buds come with “environmental noise cancellation” but don’t offer active noise cancellation to compete against high-end offerings from other brands.

The company has confirmed that the Buds Pro will come with three microphones of their own to “monitor exterior noises” and “intelligently produce noise-canceling counter frequencies.” However, we will know about the actual performance of the earphones once they get officially launched.

Another major part OnePlus aims to address with the Buds Pro is the battery life. It has been announced that the battery has been upgraded and should offer an impressive battery life of no less than 38 hours (with ANC turned off). Further, a 10-minute wired recharge of the Buds Pro’s case will provide 10 hours of battery life.

In terms of design, It will reportedly come in matte black color with a glossy metallic covering on the steems to offer a better operating experience and resist sweat and dust. They are likely to be quite similar to the Apple AirPods Pro. Even the original Buds from the company look the same as Apple AirPods and the shipment of the same was seized by US Customs for being counterfeit AirPods.

When launched, the OnePlus Buds Pro will compete against the likes of Apple AirPods Pro and Galaxy Buds 2, among others. We expect the pricing to be under $150 but to know for sure, we will have to wait for the official launch.

OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei, who left the company earlier this year and founded a new brand named Noting is also set to launch its first-ever product, true wireless earphones called Nothing Ear (1) later this month, which will be priced at $99.

OnePlus has expanded its product lineup in recent years and the brand also has a lineup of earphones under its OnePlus Buds series. There are already a couple of products under the same and now the company is gearing up to launch another one.

It has officially confirmed that the OnePlus Buds Pro is in the works and has also revealed that the earphones will be launched along with the OnePlus Nord 2 5G smartphone that is scheduled for 22nd July.

However, the name indicates that it could be similar to the original model with additional premium features like Active Noise Cancellation (ANC).
