Owing to smartphone manufacturers skipping the 3.5mm headphone jack, the wireless earphones market has been booming. The market growth of the audio device has been on the rise and competition is already stiff and is bound to grow more intense. Now, OnePlus, the smartphone manufacturer is reportedly also looking into entering this cut-throat market to tackle other major brands like Apple and Samsung.

According to Max J, the known leakster (for Samsung related information) stated that OnePlus is getting ready to enter the wireless earphones market. In a tweet, he shared an image of a truly wireless earphone promotion concept which he claimed was from OnePlus. Unfortunately, since no official confirmation or announcement has been made, it is uncertain as to what the upcoming earphones might actually look like.

Furthermore, the image carries the words “listen without the cords in your way” which is a clear hint at truly wireless earphones. Hence, it might follow a similar design philosophy as a regular Bullets Wireless lineup but without the cords. Although, what useful and unique function OnePlus adds to the gadget is a mystery for now.

Currently, Apple dominates the wireless earphones market with its AirPods. Thus, the move from OnePlus seems probable as it may seek to rival both Samsung (Galaxy Buds) and Apple in the market. Since the company already offers wireless earphones, these new additions might just prove to be a great push to its periphery gadget sales; and knowing OnePlus, the company might undercut its mainstream rivals by a notable margin in terms of pricing.

Along with the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro flagship smartphones as well the OnePlus 7 Pro 5G, the Chinese company also launched an updated pair of Bluetooth earphones, dubbed as OnePlus Bullets Wireless 2.

But it’s not just the name that the company has updated but also its design. OnePlus has decided to remove the fin-like earplugs and instead, it comes with a much more comfortable in-ear bud shape. The rest of the design, however, remains relatively familiar to its predecessor.

Each earbud is connected through a tether, which includes the inline remote and two extra modules for housing the battery and wireless connectivity tech. The design is pretty basic and has the metallic black and red color scheme, hinting that they are designed and crafted by OnePlus.

The OnePlus Bluetooth Wireless 2 comes with three 10mm drivers for enhanced bass. It has two Knowles balanced armature drivers for mids and highs, and one dynamic driver to cover the lower frequencies. It also comes with support for Google Assistant out-of-the-box.

The company has also tweaked the Bluetooth connectivity with an upgrade from Bluetooth 4.1 to Bluetooth 5.0 for more stable connections. There is also support for aptXHD which is a big step up from the aptX-supported originals.

As for the battery life, the company says that it offers 14 hours of playback with a fully charged pair of OnePlus Bullets Wireless 2 earbuds. OnePlus also says that just 10 minutes of charging will result in up to 10 hours of audio playback.

The OnePlus Bullets Wireless 2 is priced at $99 in the US, £99 in the UK, and in India, they are priced at Rs. 5,999. However, the company has not yet revealed its availability dates. They are currently listed as “Coming Soon” on the OnePlus official online store.

The OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro will not be the only products that will be unveiled at the OnePlus event on May 14. We should also see some new accessories. The good thing is we don’t have to wait that long to know what these accessories are thanks to a new leak.

The source of the leak is said to be YouTuber LinusTechTips, and it appears he got a special package from OnePlus ahead of the official release. He shared pictures of the contents of the package, in a now-deleted tweet, which include the OnePlus Bullets Wireless 2 Headphones and the Warp Charge 30 car charger.

The OnePlus Bullets Wireless 2 in-ear headphones have a similar design to the original Bullets Wireless save for the earbuds which have been redesigned. The headphones sit on your neck and there is a remote control attached to the left side. The headphones are expected to sound better and maybe even have improved battery life. There are also live images of the headphones which were posted on the OnePlus forum.

There is also the Warp Charge 30 Car Charger. OnePlus announced a new fast-charging technology when it launched the OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition last year. Called Warp Charge 30, it charges the phone at 30W. The OnePlus 7 Pro will also support the same fast charging technology. With the car charger, owners will be able to get the same fast charging speed in their cars as they do when using the Warp 30 Wall Charger.
