<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Liu Fengshuo, the COO of OnePlus who also happens to be the head of the company’s R&amp;D department, has </span><a href="https://weibo.com/7582635100/KztCckA8A"><span style="font-weight: 400;">shared</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> further details about the </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/Android-12/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Android 12</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">-based ColorOS 12 update for OnePlus phones.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">According to the executive, the brand will follow the timeline that was shared at the end of the </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/ColorOS-12/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">ColorOS 12</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> announcement. As per that plan, the OnePlus 9 and the OnePlus 9 Pro will receive the public beta update in October, while the remaining eligible devices will get access in the first half of 2022.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The exec details that the OnePlus 9R will get the beta update in January 2022 itself. He also says that users will be notified at the end of each month regarding the update schedule for the upcoming month.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">For those unaware, </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/OPPO/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">OPPO</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> has a habit of sharing the </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/ColorOS/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">ColorOS</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> update plan every month. Hence, it’s not surprising to learn that it will continue to do so for the next iteration of its operating system.</span></p>
<figure id="attachment_409194" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-409194" style="width: 1326px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-409194" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/OnePlus-9R-green.png?x44794" alt="OnePlus-9R-green" width="1326" height="798" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/OnePlus-9R-green.png 1326w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/OnePlus-9R-green-300x181.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/OnePlus-9R-green-768x462.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/OnePlus-9R-green-1024x616.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/OnePlus-9R-green-696x419.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/OnePlus-9R-green-1068x643.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/OnePlus-9R-green-698x420.png 698w" sizes="(max-width: 1326px) 100vw, 1326px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-409194" class="wp-caption-text">OnePlus 9R</figcaption></figure>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Lastly, he clarifies that although the OnePlus 7/7T and OnePlus 8/8T series of handsets will receive the update later than the OnePlus 9R, the firm will complete the public beta rollout by the end of H1 2022. The reason behind the delay is that these smartphones will be migrated from HydrogenOS to ColorOS.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Additionally, OnePlus Community Manager Jian Lan Shuai has </span><a href="https://weibo.com/1846146512/KzudulTT0"><span style="font-weight: 400;">revealed</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> that users who installed </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/05/19/oneplus-8-pro-8t-coloros-11-early-access-update/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">ColorOS Early Access update</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> on OnePlus 8, OnePlus 8 Pro, and OnePlus 8T will not be receiving an OTA update to ColorOS 12. In order to receive the new update, they will have to switch back to HydrogenOS.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Having said that, since we are months away from the stipulated update timeline for the older </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/OnePlus/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">OnePlus</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> phones, we expect the brand to let out more details in the coming days.</span></p>
