<p>Foldable smartphones have begun to attract consumer attention. According to <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/04/05/us-smartphone-users-choose-foldable-phone-next-purchase/">a report</a>, 28% of US smartphone users are likely to choose a foldable device for their next purchase. With the market broadening, no brand wants to be left in the dust. This year, we witnessed several newcomers entering this unconventional category, including Tecno. And Google is also ready to unleash the Pixel Fold <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/04/18/pixel-7a-fold-launch-date-leaked/">on May 10</a>. Now rumor has it that <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/oneplus">OnePlus </a>will also join the party by launching its first foldable as early as August.</p>

<h2>OnePlus Foldable will go against Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5?</h2>

<p>Max Jambor claims on Twitter that OnePlus will unveil its first foldable smartphone in August. The leaker did not share any specific date, however, the company confirmed <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/02/28/oneplus-foldable-late-2023-release/">during MWC 2023</a> that it indeed plans to launch a folding-screen smartphone sometime later in 2023. Samsung&#8217;s <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/samsung-galaxy-z-fold-5">Galaxy Z Fold 5</a> is also expected to launch around the same time.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="498" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/OnePlus-foldable-launch-soon-1024x498.jpg?x44794" alt="OnePlus foldable launch soon" class="wp-image-534725" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/OnePlus-foldable-launch-soon-1024x498.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/OnePlus-foldable-launch-soon-300x146.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/OnePlus-foldable-launch-soon-768x374.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/OnePlus-foldable-launch-soon-696x339.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/OnePlus-foldable-launch-soon-1068x520.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/OnePlus-foldable-launch-soon-863x420.jpg 863w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/OnePlus-foldable-launch-soon.jpg 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p><em>“Our first foldable phone will have the signature OnePlus fast and smooth experience. It must be a flagship phone that doesn’t settle because of its folding form, in terms of industrial design, mechanical technology, and other aspects. We want to launch a device that aims to be at the pinnacle experience of today’s foldable market.”</em>&nbsp;said&nbsp;Kinder Liu, President, and COO of OnePlus&nbsp;at the event.</p>

<p>Currently, the details about the OnePlus foldable are pretty scarce. Some rumors claim it will be a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/04/08/oneplus-fold-foldable-phone-could-be-in-works-likely-to-be-rebranded-oppo-find-n/">rebranded Oppo Find N2</a>, while others say it will be an <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/02/20/oneplus-foldable-not-rebranded-find-n2/">entirely new device</a>. Our money is on the latter. It makes sense for OnePlus to enter the category with a unique device or else it won’t make much difference to the consumers.</p>

<p>That being said, it&#8217;s worth noting that the <a href="http://gizmochina.com/product/oppo-find-n2">Oppo Find N2</a> is already getting positive attention, thanks to its impressive hinge and form factor. OnePlus might just take a cue or two from its design prowess.</p>

<p>The <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/MWC-2023">Mobile World Congress </a>(MWC) 2023 has just begun, and there have already been some notable foldable smartphones showcased. Although <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/oneplus">OnePlus </a>did not unveil any folding phones at the event, the company has announced its intention to release one in the latter half of 2023. This shows the brand is dedicated to expanding its portfolio from just smartphones to other gadgets.</p>

<p>A OnePlus foldable has been long-anticipated and the company also hinted the same previously. However, today the brand has finally announced its intentions to launch a folding-screen smartphone sometime later in 2023. While the details about the foldable are pretty limited, we can assume it will look similar to the foldables from its parent company Oppo.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="734" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Oppo-Find-N2--1024x734.png?x44794" alt="Oppo Find N2" class="wp-image-519103" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Oppo-Find-N2--1024x734.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Oppo-Find-N2--300x215.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Oppo-Find-N2--768x550.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Oppo-Find-N2--696x499.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Oppo-Find-N2--1068x765.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Oppo-Find-N2--586x420.png 586w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Oppo-Find-N2-.png 1217w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p><em>“Our first foldable phone will have the signature OnePlus fast and smooth experience. It must be a flagship phone that doesn&#8217;t settle because of its folding form, in terms of industrial design, mechanical technology, and other aspects. We want to launch a device that aims to be at the pinnacle experience of today’s foldable market.”</em> said Kinder Liu, President, and COO of OnePlus at the event.</p>

<p>Liu’s statement doesn’t really tell us anything about the upcoming device. We assume the brand will reveal more details in the future. Past rumors have claimed the OnePlus handset will look a lot like the Oppo Find N2 that was released late last year in China. However, the foldable may feature different specifications.</p>

<p>Foldable smartphones have started to pick up in 2023. We have seen many brands trying their hands in the new category. The Europe and Asian markets now have multiple options to choose from, including phones from Oppo, Motorola, Tecno, and Honor. However, US shoppers only get to choose from Samsung’s wide range of foldables.</p>

<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-459963 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/FSdjPsPXMAE1mKS.jpg?x44794" alt="OnePlus" width="680" height="383" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/FSdjPsPXMAE1mKS.jpg 680w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/FSdjPsPXMAE1mKS-300x169.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 680px) 100vw, 680px" /></p>
<p>The news arrives from tipster <a href="https://twitter.com/MaxJmb/status/1524296143173296130" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Max Jambor</a> who shared an image on Twitter. This picture hinted that the Chinese smartphone maker apparently plans on launching a foldable handset sometime next year. Furthermore, the tipster also revealed to <a href="https://www.phonearena.com/news/oneplus-foldable-smartphone-launch-2023_id140106" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>PhoneArena</em> </a>that &#8220;multiple&#8221; foldable smartphones are on their way as well. As of right now, it is unknown what design the upcoming foldable phone will feature. Although, there have been rumors that OnePlus will launch at least one model that is similar to the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/oppo-find-n-5g/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Oppo Find N</a>.</p>
<p>The Find N has a vertical hinge with a form factor that is similar to the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-z-fold3-5g/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3</a>. In other words, it features a primary display that folds inwards along with a secondary external display. It is also possible that OnePlus may launch a smaller and more affordable version of the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-z-flip3-5g/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Galaxy Z Flip 3</a>, which has a clamshell folding design. There is even a tri fold design that has been seen in Samsung patents, but this model is unlikely to make its way with the first wave of OnePlus foldable phones.</p>
<p><figure id="attachment_453684" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-453684" style="width: 1200px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="wp-image-453684 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/OPPO-Find-N.jpg?x44794" alt="OnePlus" width="1200" height="800" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/OPPO-Find-N.jpg 1200w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/OPPO-Find-N-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/OPPO-Find-N-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/OPPO-Find-N-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/OPPO-Find-N-696x464.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/OPPO-Find-N-1068x712.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/OPPO-Find-N-630x420.jpg 630w" sizes="(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-453684" class="wp-caption-text">OPPO Find N</figcaption></figure></p>
<p>Recently, Oppo, Vivo, and Xiaomi have launched their own iterations of devices with flexible displays. However, these phones were only limited to the Chinese market and have yet to make their way to the international market. This means that OnePlus has a lot of potential to fill this gap in the international market since it typically launches all of its models for its home and overseas market.</p>

Hence, we thought to put them together for our latest weekly compilation. For the unaware, we at GizmoChina, bring you a roundup article every Monday discussing select stories from the previous week.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">In this week’s episode, we will talk about five Oneplus leaks. Of which, two of them are very interesting as they are regarding a foldable and a new series.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">With that out of the day, let’s take a look at these leaks one by one.</span></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h1><b>Oneplus Leaks from Last Week</b></h1>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h3><b>Oneplus foldable in the works</b></h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Last Friday, tipster Yogesh Brar </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/04/08/oneplus-fold-foldable-phone-could-be-in-works-likely-to-be-rebranded-oppo-find-n/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">revealed</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> that Oneplus is working on a foldable smartphone. Unfortunately, it is not a  self-developed device. The handset is merely a copy of Oppo Find N, which is sold exclusively in China.</span></p>
<p><figure id="attachment_434798" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-434798" style="width: 696px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="wp-image-434798 size-large" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Oppo-find-N-Review_-Your-first-foldable-phone-2-38-screenshot-1024x576.png?x44794" alt="Oppo find N Review reading app" width="696" height="392" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Oppo-find-N-Review_-Your-first-foldable-phone-2-38-screenshot-1024x576.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Oppo-find-N-Review_-Your-first-foldable-phone-2-38-screenshot-300x169.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Oppo-find-N-Review_-Your-first-foldable-phone-2-38-screenshot-768x432.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Oppo-find-N-Review_-Your-first-foldable-phone-2-38-screenshot-696x392.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Oppo-find-N-Review_-Your-first-foldable-phone-2-38-screenshot-1068x601.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Oppo-find-N-Review_-Your-first-foldable-phone-2-38-screenshot-747x420.png 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Oppo-find-N-Review_-Your-first-foldable-phone-2-38-screenshot-1920x1080.png 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 696px) 100vw, 696px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-434798" class="wp-caption-text">Oppo Find N (<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/01/03/oppo-find-n-review-first-foldable/">Review</a>)</figcaption></figure></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Hence, the upcoming Oneplus foldable phone could be just a new name for the </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/oppo-find-n-5g/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Oppo Find N</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> for international markets.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">It is not known what Oneplus will call its first foldable smartphone. Just like other brands, the company will most likely use the ‘Fold’ branding, such as ‘Oneplus Fold’.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">We are looking forward to learning about the device’s price and availability in the coming days.</span></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h3><b>Ace series to return with Oneplus at the helm</b></h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Oppo </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/09/07/rumor-oppo-has-killed-off-the-ace-line-realme-will-have-a-replacement-next-year/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">killed</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> the Ace series after the launch of </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/oppo-ace-2/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Oppo Ace 2</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> in 2020. Realme’s GT series replaced this lineup offering products at multiple price points.</span></p>
<p><figure id="attachment_451885" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-451885" style="width: 696px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="wp-image-451885 size-large" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/OnePlus-10R-Render-Leak-A-1024x576.jpg?x44794" alt="OnePlus 10R Render" width="696" height="392" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/OnePlus-10R-Render-Leak-A-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/OnePlus-10R-Render-Leak-A-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/OnePlus-10R-Render-Leak-A-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/OnePlus-10R-Render-Leak-A-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/OnePlus-10R-Render-Leak-A-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/OnePlus-10R-Render-Leak-A-747x420.jpg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/OnePlus-10R-Render-Leak-A-1920x1080.jpg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 696px) 100vw, 696px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-451885" class="wp-caption-text">Oneplus 10R | Source: Yogesh Brar via 91Mobiles</figcaption></figure></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;"> </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">On Friday, a Chinese media house (Whylab) </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/04/08/oneplus-ace-to-come-with-dimensity-8100-and-50mp-cameras/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">disclosed</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> that Oneplus will bring back the Ace series from the dead. This device carries model number PGKM10 and it is nothing but a rebranded Relame GT Neo 3.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The phone will likely release as Oneplus 10R in some markets. Because we have been hearing about it for a long time and it shares almost everything with the </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/realme-gt-neo-3/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Realme GT Neo 3</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">In a nutshell, the Oneplus Ace could be limited to China, like the previous two Ace-branded handsets from Oppo. On the other hand, the </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/oneplus-10r/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Oneplus 10R</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> may launch in India and even Europe (doubtful).</span></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h3><b>Oneplus Nord 2T to feature Dimensity 1300 SoC</b></h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">On Friday, Mediatek </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/04/09/mediatek-dimensity-1300-official-release/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">quietly announced</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> Dimensity 1300 SoC, the successor of the Dimensity 1200 chipset. A day earlier, a leak had already </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/04/07/oneplus-nord-2t-specifications-revealed-dimensity-1300-50mp-cameras-and-more/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">revealed</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> that this chip will be present inside the upcoming Oneplus Nord 2T.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The design of the </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/oneplus-nord-2/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Oneplus Nord 2</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">’s successor was also disclosed in the same leak via renders. The phone will have two large circles on the rear, however, only one of them will be fully occupied with a large OIS-enabled 50MP Sony IMX766 sensor. Whereas, the second circle will house weird-looking tiny 8MP Sony IMX355 ultra-wide unit and a 2MP monochrome sensor.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Other features of the handset will include a 32MP Sony IMX709 front-facing camera, LPDDR4x RAM, UFS 3.1 storage, 6.43-inch FHD+ AMOLED display, dual stereo speakers, alert slider, 4,500mAh battery, and 80W fast charging.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/oneplus-nord-2t/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Oneplus Nord 2T</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> is </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/03/21/oneplus-2022-smartphone-launch-timeline-leak/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">rumored</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> to launch in late April or early May.</span></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h3><b>Oneplus 10 could be powered by Dimensity 9000 SoC</b></h3>
