Last year, it was said that<a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2014/04/26/picture-proving-oneplus-is-wholly-owned-sub-brand-of-oppo/" target="_blank"> OPPO had a stake in OnePlus</a>, which both the companies denied. A few weeks back, <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2015/12/20/oneplus-merging-oppo/" target="_blank">OPPO changed its corporate name to include &#8216;Plus&#8217; </a>which speculated rumors that OnePlus had merged with OPPO. Once again, both the companies released a statement saying that this was not true.</p>
<p>Now, to make matters even more interesting, two new smartphones have passed through the Chinese certification website TENAA, one from OnePlus, which is most likely the upcoming OnePlus Mini and the second one from OPPO, namely the OPPO A30. What makes them interesting is that both the smartphones look exactly the same! Now, is it a coincidence that apart from the company branding at the back, both the phones have the exact same design? Well, we leave it up to you to decide.</p>
<p>Here are a few pictures that directly compares the two smartphones. The one on the left is the OPPO A30 while on the right is the OnePlus E1000 (OnePlus Mini).</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/oppo-a30-vs-oneplus-mini-02.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-68542" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/oppo-a30-vs-oneplus-mini-02.jpg?x10805" alt="oppo a30 vs oneplus mini 02" width="1200" height="888" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/oppo-a30-vs-oneplus-mini-02.jpg 1200w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/oppo-a30-vs-oneplus-mini-02-300x222.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/oppo-a30-vs-oneplus-mini-02-1024x758.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/oppo-a30-vs-oneplus-mini-02-600x444.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/oppo-a30-vs-oneplus-mini-02-568x420.jpg 568w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/oppo-a30-vs-oneplus-mini-02-80x60.jpg 80w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/oppo-a30-vs-oneplus-mini-02-100x75.jpg 100w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/oppo-a30-vs-oneplus-mini-02-640x474.jpg 640w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/oppo-a30-vs-oneplus-mini-02-681x504.jpg 681w" sizes="(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px" /></a></p>
<p>As you can see, the front looks exactly the same, except for minor color differences. The placement of the sensors on top and the capacitive buttons at the bottom are the same.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/oppo-a30-vs-oneplus-mini-01.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-68543" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/oppo-a30-vs-oneplus-mini-01.jpg?x10805" alt="oppo a30 vs oneplus mini 01" width="1200" height="984" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/oppo-a30-vs-oneplus-mini-01.jpg 1200w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/oppo-a30-vs-oneplus-mini-01-300x246.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/oppo-a30-vs-oneplus-mini-01-1024x840.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/oppo-a30-vs-oneplus-mini-01-600x492.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/oppo-a30-vs-oneplus-mini-01-512x420.jpg 512w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/oppo-a30-vs-oneplus-mini-01-640x525.jpg 640w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/oppo-a30-vs-oneplus-mini-01-681x558.jpg 681w" sizes="(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px" /></a></p>
<p>Coming to the back, once again, we see a striking resemblance in the two smartphones. Apart from the logo at the center, rest of the design is surprisingly similar!</p>

<a href='https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/oppo-a30-vs-oneplus-mini-03.jpg?x10805'><img width="696" height="627" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/oppo-a30-vs-oneplus-mini-03-1024x922.jpg?x10805" class="attachment-large size-large" alt="" loading="lazy" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/oppo-a30-vs-oneplus-mini-03-1024x922.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/oppo-a30-vs-oneplus-mini-03-300x270.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/oppo-a30-vs-oneplus-mini-03-600x540.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/oppo-a30-vs-oneplus-mini-03-467x420.jpg 467w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/oppo-a30-vs-oneplus-mini-03-640x576.jpg 640w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/oppo-a30-vs-oneplus-mini-03-681x613.jpg 681w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/oppo-a30-vs-oneplus-mini-03.jpg 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 696px) 100vw, 696px" /></a>
<a href='https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/oppo-a30-vs-oneplus-mini-04.jpg?x10805'><img width="696" height="599" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/oppo-a30-vs-oneplus-mini-04-1024x881.jpg?x10805" class="attachment-large size-large" alt="" loading="lazy" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/oppo-a30-vs-oneplus-mini-04-1024x881.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/oppo-a30-vs-oneplus-mini-04-300x258.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/oppo-a30-vs-oneplus-mini-04-600x516.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/oppo-a30-vs-oneplus-mini-04-488x420.jpg 488w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/oppo-a30-vs-oneplus-mini-04-640x550.jpg 640w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/oppo-a30-vs-oneplus-mini-04-681x586.jpg 681w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/oppo-a30-vs-oneplus-mini-04.jpg 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 696px) 100vw, 696px" /></a>

<p>You can check out the placement of the volume and power buttons and they are similar too. So, it&#8217;s basically the same smartphone with a different branding.</p>
<p>Even the specifications are the same on both the devices. So, they are powered by the Snapdragon 810 chip under the hood with 3GB RAM and 16GB of expandable storage. The screen size is the same at 4.99-inches and FHD 1920 x 1080p resolution. Both the phones have the same measurements as well 140×69×6.9(mm). At the back, you will find a 13MP camera while, up front, there&#8217;s a 5MP shooter. Both run on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS.</p>
<p>So, it can&#8217;t be such a big coincidence that two smartphones from different manufacturers end up looking exactly the same with the exact same specs.</p>
<p>Well, let&#8217;s hope the companies clear things out in the coming weeks about how this happened. We will keep you posted with updates in the coming days.</p>

Most of the leaks, including our sources have said that the <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2015/09/29/oneplus-x-to-feature-snapdragon-801-launching-in-october/">phone will be called as the OnePlus X</a>. But now, another new leak has given out almost all of the specs of the device, and it is said that the phone will be called as the OnePlus Mini.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/oneplus-x-02.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-59504" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/oneplus-x-02.jpg?x10805" alt="oneplus x 02" width="610" height="484" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/oneplus-x-02.jpg 610w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/oneplus-x-02-300x238.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/oneplus-x-02-529x420.jpg 529w" sizes="(max-width: 610px) 100vw, 610px" /></a></p>
<p>According to a source of gforgames, the OnePlus Mini will come with the Helio X10 chip clocked at 2.2GHz on board instead of the Snapdragon 801 as previously rumored. There will be 2GB of RAM on board along with 32GB of eMMC 5.0 storage. At the back, there will be a 13MP camera unit (Sony IMX258) with f/2.0 aperture and dual tone LED flash. Up front, you can expect a 5MP wide-angle front facing shooter.</p>
<p>The display could be of 5-inches with 1080p resolution and the battery around 3000mAh with support for quick charge. Even NFC and IR blaster are said to be included in the device, which will be a surprise given that the flagship model lacked these features. Finally, there will be a fingerprint sensor at the back along with a 1.2W front-facing speakers. Also, the phone will have an all plastic design with IP67 certification for water and dust resistance.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/OnePlus-press-2-645x362.png?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-55387" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/OnePlus-press-2-645x362.png?x10805" alt="OnePlus-press-2-645x362" width="645" height="362" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/OnePlus-press-2-645x362.png 645w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/OnePlus-press-2-645x362-300x168.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/OnePlus-press-2-645x362-640x359.png 640w" sizes="(max-width: 645px) 100vw, 645px" /></a></p>
<p>For all these features, the company is said to price the device at just $250, which is exactly what our source said earlier. Even the specs are more or less the same, except for the chipset inside. While this new report says that you can expect the launch sometime in November- December period, our source had said earlier that it could as soon as October. Since we are already five days into October, lets wait and see if the company releases the device this month.</p>
<p>Let me know your thoughts about the upcoming OnePlus Mini /  OnePlus X handset.</p>

Back in August, OnePlus CEO Carl Pei confirmed in an interview that the<a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2015/08/03/oneplus-co-founder-confirms-another-smartphone-launch-before-this-year-end-most-likely-high-end/" target="_blank"> company had plans for another smartphone launch </a>before the end of this year. While he didn&#8217;t reveal whether it was going to be a toned down OnePlus Mini or another powerful flagship, according to his comments, the phone will most likely be a powerful device.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/oneplus-x-01.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-59505" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/oneplus-x-01.jpg?x10805" alt="oneplus x 01" width="610" height="452" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/oneplus-x-01.jpg 610w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/oneplus-x-01-300x222.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/oneplus-x-01-567x420.jpg 567w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/oneplus-x-01-80x60.jpg 80w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/oneplus-x-01-100x75.jpg 100w" sizes="(max-width: 610px) 100vw, 610px" /></a></p>
<p>Well this is what he had to <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2015/08/07/a-oneplus-2-mini-a-mid-ranger-will-come-to-you-later-this-year/" target="_blank">say in the interview about this new device</a>, <em>“It may or may not be (higher spec’d than the OnePlus 2). When I saw the prototype for that phone I was like ‘holy s— that’s going to be my daily driver’ but then when the OnePlus 2 production version came out it’s also super nice, so its really hard to decide now what to use.”</em></p>
<p>According to our sources, the new OnePlus handset will be called as the OnePlus X. It does make sense to use a powerful name as the &#8216;X&#8217; for the upcoming device, instead of a name like the &#8216;Mini. But this is a new source, so even we are not quite sure of the final name of the handset. As for the pricing, the source says that it should be around $249. The release should be sometime around October. Although that sounds a bit early, we will have to wait and see if it really turns out to be true.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/oneplus-x-02.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-59504" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/oneplus-x-02.jpg?x10805" alt="oneplus x 02" width="610" height="484" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/oneplus-x-02.jpg 610w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/oneplus-x-02-300x238.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/oneplus-x-02-529x420.jpg 529w" sizes="(max-width: 610px) 100vw, 610px" /></a></p>
<p>Thanks to Chinese Social Network Weibo, we might just have our first glimpse of this handset. The website revealed two new renders of the OnePlus X (Mini). They look quite different than the OnePlus 2&#8217;s design, with a fingerprint sensor and dual camera setup at the back. The front looks more or less similar. The dual speaker design at the bottom also looks quite attractive.</p>
<p>Well, its still quite early to make speculations about the upcoming OnePlus handset. For now, all we can do is sit back and wait for more such information to leak which reveals a few more details about the device.</p>

<p>We have<a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2015/07/17/oneplus-to-release-two-smartphones-this-year/"> been long hearing rumors about another smartphone from the company this year</a>. And today Carl Pei reveals a few details about the upcoming handset. Carl,<a href="http://www.usatoday.com/story/tech/2015/08/02/oneplus-carl-pei-interview/30947799/"> in an interview with the USA Today magazine</a> revealed that OnePlus will indeed release another device this year, most likely before the end of 2015. He said that the launch will hopefully be somewhere around Christmas. That would be an ideal time to release a value for money handset since most customers are on a shopping spree in the holiday season.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/OnePlus-press-2-645x362.png?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-55387" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/OnePlus-press-2-645x362.png?x10805" alt="OnePlus-press-2-645x362" width="645" height="362" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/OnePlus-press-2-645x362.png 645w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/OnePlus-press-2-645x362-300x168.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/OnePlus-press-2-645x362-640x359.png 640w" sizes="(max-width: 645px) 100vw, 645px" /></a></p>
<p>He didn&#8217;t reveal whether the device was a OnePlus Mini version or a higher-end variant of the OnePlus 2, but from what he said about the phone, it looks like the phone&#8217;s going to be powerful.</p>
<p><em>&#8220;It may or may not be (higher spec&#8217;d than the OnePlus 2). When I saw the prototype for that phone I was like &#8216;holy s&#8212; that&#8217;s going to be my daily driver&#8217; but then when the OnePlus 2 production version came out it&#8217;s also super nice, so its really hard to decide now what to use.&#8221;</em></p>
<p>Carl revealed that the company has an internal target to sell around 3-5 million OnePlus smartphones in 2015. He also responded to the criticisms about the OnePlus lacking NFC feature, by saying, &#8220;Very few people are using NFC, so we cut it. It&#8217;s as simple as that.&#8221;</p>
<p>Well, we hope that the upcoming OnePlus handset fixes a few drawbacks that we found on the OnePlus 2, like the lack of NFC &amp; fast charge.</p>
<p>Anyways, what do you think about the upcoming device? Will be a high-end model or a lower-end OnePlus Mini model?</p>

In addition to the flagship, OnePlus Two model, recent rumors have said that the company will also release a cheaper model, to compete with budget smartphones in the market.</p>
<p>The company recently announced that it will keep an event on April 20 i.e. today where we expect at least one smartphone announcement. At this event, we may also see the cheaper version&#8217;s debut.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/Oneplus-cheap.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-46511" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/Oneplus-cheap.jpg?x10805" alt="Oneplus cheap" width="602" height="399" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/Oneplus-cheap.jpg 602w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/Oneplus-cheap-300x199.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 602px) 100vw, 602px" /></a></p>
<p>The leaked image shows that the phone will have a similar design as the OnePlus One flagship, except for a few subtle changes. One difference that we spotted was the single LED flash below the camera unit, as opposed to dual LED flash on the OnePlus One. The back seems to have the same silk white texture as the existing flagship model.</p>
<p>We still don&#8217;t know for sure whether this is the cheaper version that will be launching this year. The leak just shows the picture but says nothing about the name of the phone, but since the phone has a single LED flash, we are assuming that it could be low-end model. Another reason we believe that this could be real is because the Ubuntu Leakster team has been right with their leaks quite a lot of time, so this one too could end up being real.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/oneplus-event.png?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-46514" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/oneplus-event.png?x10805" alt="oneplus event" width="600" height="345" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/oneplus-event.png 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/oneplus-event-300x173.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a></p>
<p>Anyways, since OnePlus has an event today, we expect more concrete information pretty soon. Stay tuned for more details.</p>
