OnePlus recently launched the Nord CE 3 smartphone in India featuring a Snapdragon 782G SoC, AMOLED display, 80W fast charging, and a 50MP IMX 890 flagship-grade camera. However, the brand has not forgotten about the device that started the series as it has released a new software update for the OnePlus Nord CE 5G which comes with bug fixes and the latest Android security patch.

The update is called OxygenOS 13 F.50 which is currently being rolled out to Indian users. It comes with the firmware version EM2101_11.F.50 and bumps up the Android security level to July 2023. In addition to that, the update fixes a bug causing the Home screen to stutter after unlocking the phone and the issue that causes the Photos app to crash will both be fixed. OnePlus started testing the Android 12-based OxygenOS 12 update in June through Open Beta builds. Now, the company has finally launched a stable Android 12 update for the device.

The Chinese smartphone brand OnePlus seems to be gearing up for multiple releases in the Indian market as recent leaks indicated the imminent launch of the OnePlus 9RT and now, news leaks have surfaced of the company preparing for another launch in the near future.

According to 91mobiles, tipster Yogesh Brar has spotted a new OnePlus smartphone which recently revived the BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards) certification. A screenshot of the BIS database reveals that the device carries the model number IV2201.

Yogesh Brar further states that the device carries the internal codename “Ivan” and hints at it being a Nord-branded device. The device could be the next generation lower-mid range offering from the brand AKA the OnePlus Nord CE or even an entirely new moniker.

The BIS certification indicates that we can expect the device to launch in early 2022 and are sure to hear more about it in the coming days.

However, OnePlus won’t be sitting idly till then as reports have surfaced of the OnePlus 9RT to be released in India in the month of December only. The launch was previously expected to happen in early 2022 but OnePlus might be saving that for the upcoming OnePlus 10, which will carry the new SoC from Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.

According to reports, the OnePlus 9RT will arrive in India carrying the same specs as the Chinese variant with minor adjustments to the naming scheme and is expected to be priced at ₹40,000 for the 8 GB + 128 GB configuration.

As for the specs, the OnePlus 9RT is powered by the Snapdragon 888 chipset paired with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB internal storage. Its display is sized 6.62-inches and is an E4 OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, 1300nits peak brightness, HDR10+ support, and 600Hz touch response. It packs a 4,500mAh battery with support for 65W fast charging. Its rear camera setup comprises a 50MP Sony IMX766 primary camera, a 16MP wide-angle lens, and a macro lens.

We chose the Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 5G as the winner of that comparison, but it is a more expensive device than the OnePlus Nord CE 5G. Now, we decided to give the OnePlus Nord CE 5G another chance by comparing it to the lower-end version of the Mi 11 Lite: the 4G variant. By renouncing to 5G, you can get a still amazing device at a way more affordable price. But is it a better deal than the latest OnePlus budget phone? This comparison will let you find out.

OnePlus Nord CE 5G vs Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 4G

Design

In my honest opinion, the Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite has a more interesting design than OnePlus Nord CE 5G. The OnePlus mid-ranger has an older look with that vertically-placed camera module, as it is a revisitation of the original OnePlus Nord. The Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite has a more elegant camera module, a thinner design, and a lighter body. It is just 6.8 mm thick and weighs just 157 grams. Further, it has the IP53 certification for dust resistance and splash resistance. Unfortunately, both the handsets come with a plastic body, so you do not get premium materials.

Display

With the Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 4G you can actually get a better display. It is a panel with one billion colors, the HDR10 certification, a 90 Hz refresh rate, and a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels. The diagonal is also wider than its rival with 6.55 inches. The OnePlus Nord CE 5G has an AMOLED panel just like the Mi 11 Lite, but it lacks one billion colors and it has a smaller diagonal of 6.43 inches. The phones are equipped with in-display fingerprint readers and flat edges. Note that the Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite has dual speakers guaranteeing more powerful sound, while Nord CE 5G has a mono speaker.

Specs & Software

The OnePlus Nord CE 5G is the clear winner of the hardware comparison. It has a stronger processor: the Snapdragon 750G by Qualcomm. It has up to 12 GB of RAM and up to 256 GB of internal storage, while Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite has just 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of native storage in its most advanced configuration. Last but not least, the OnePlus Nord CE 5G supports 5G, while Mi 11 Lite does not. The phones run Android 11 out of the box: the former has OxygenOS to customize it, while the latter has MIUI 12.

Camera

The camera performance of the OnePlus Nord CE 5G and the Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite are very similar. They both feature a 64 MP main sensor and an 8 MP ultrawide lens: the only important difference in the rear department is the macro camera. The Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite has a better 5 MP macro camera, while the Nord CE 5G has an inferior 2 MP sensor. Given that there are very marginal differences between the cameras, we recommend focusing on the other specifications. They are midrange cameras with more than sufficient performance, but they are not camera phones.

Battery

The OnePlus Nord CE 5G is able to provide a longer battery life because it packs a bigger battery with a capacity of 4500 mAh. With Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite, you get a smaller battery but also a thinner and lighter body. Further, the Mi 11 Lite has faster charging with a power of 33W. However, having a bigger battery is more important.

Price

Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite is currently available in the global market with a street price of €250/$297, while the OnePlus Nord CE 5G has a starting listing price of €299/$355 for the base variant. The OnePlus Nord CE 5G wins the comparison because of 5G, a better chipset, and a bigger battery, but you should not underestimate the Mi 11 Lite with its sleeker design and great display.

The 6.55-inch panel of this phone is able to show up to one billion colors with a Full HD+ resolution, a pretty high brightness, the HDR10+ certification, and a Full HD+ resolution, as well as the AMOLED technology. The OnePlus Nord CE 5G has an AMOLED display too with a 90 Hz refresh rate, but it is not able to reach the number of colors shown by the Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 5G. Both the phones pack an in-display fingerprint reader for authentication.

Specs & Software

The Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 5G wins the hardware comparison as well, thanks to its Snapdragon 780G mobile platform which is definitely superior to the Snapdragon 750G found on the OnePlus Nord CE 5G. And it is not all: the phone is also equipped with a UFS 2.2 internal storage instead of UFS 2.1. But there is an exception to this for the strongest variant of the OnePlus Nord CE 5G: in this configuration, it offers 12 GB of RAM, while Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 5G stops at 8 GB. The handsets run Android 11 out of the box with a highly customized user interface.

Camera

OnePlus Nord CE 5G and Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 5G are more or less at the same level if we talk about the camera performance. OnePlus recently released the Nord CE 5G: a revisitation of the first device from the Nord series with a more affordable price tag. The Core Edition looks like the original Nord, but if you dig deeper, there are a lot of differences between the two phones. Ahead of the launch of the Nord 2, we decided to publish a comparison between these two handsets for those who want to save money and get the greatest mid-ranger for their actual needs. If you think you can not afford the Nord 2 and you love the specifications of the OnePlus Nord and its brother Nord CE 5G, you are in the right place and you should go ahead with this specs comparison.

OnePlus Nord CE 5G vs OnePlus Nord 5G

Design

The OnePlus Nord and its Core Edition are not so different in terms of design. Given that it is a revisitation, the Nord CE 5G retains a similar design to its predecessor, but we still have a few differences. The original Nord has a slightly higher screen-to-body ratio, but it comes with a dual punch hole instead of a single punch hole like the Nord CE 5G. The younger sibling has a thinner and lighter body, which makes it more attractive. However, its overall dimensions are bigger despite they have similar display diagonals.

Display

With the OnePlus Nord and its Core Edition, you get exactly the same display specifications. They come with a Full HD+ resolution, the HDR10+ certification which improves the image quality on streaming platforms, and a 90 Hz refresh rate making the viewing experience smoother. The vanilla Nord has a 6.43-inch panel, while the Core Edition has 6.44 inches. Both the phones rely on an in-display fingerprint reader for authentication. There is no much to say since both are good, but not astonishing displays, and they provide more or less the same level of quality.

Specs & Software

Even when it comes to the hardware department, these devices are almost the same deal. The OnePlus Nord has an older chipset, but it is actually a slightly better SoC than the OnePlus Nord CE 5G. We are talking about the Snapdragon 765G which is built at 7 nm and offers a bit more power. The Snapdragon 750G is very close but its GPU performance is inferior (Adreno 620 vs Adreno 619). Further, it is built at 8 nm so it is inferior even when it comes to power management. Both the phones feature up to 12 GB of RAM and up to 256 GB of native storage (UFS 2.1). The OnePlus Nord wins the hardware comparison but I would still choose the Nord CE 5G because it has a more recent operating system: it runs Android 11 out of the box instead of Android 10. This means that it will get longer software support from the company.

Camera

OnePlus Nord 5G wins the camera phone battle first of all thanks to a more interesting main camera. We are referring to a 48 MP sensor that supports OIS, paired with an 8 MP ultrawide sensor and a pair of 2 MP useless cameras for macros and depth. OnePlus Nord CE 5G has a 64 MP main camera but it lacks OIS. Further, the original Nord has a better front camera department: a dual sensor composed of a 32 MP main selfie camera and an 8 MP ultrawide lens.

Battery

The OnePlus Nord CE 5G has a way bigger battery: with a capacity of 4500 mAh, it is able to last longer on a single charge. It is an important added value, given that OnePlus Nord has a below-average battery with a capacity of just 4115 mAh.

Price

OnePlus Nord launched last year with a €399/$473 starting price in the global market, while OnePlus Nord CE 5G launched a few weeks ago with a €299/$355 starting price. I personally prefer the Nord CE 5G due to its bigger battery and Android 11, but the original Nord actually offers a better camera department and chipset.

OnePlus launched the OnePlus Nord CE 5G last month. A week after the device’s announcement, it received not one but two system updates. Now, the handset has started receiving its third software update.

OnePlus is rolling out a system update for the OnePlus Nord CE 5G. The latest update arrives as OxygenOS 11.0.4.4.

According to the official announcement post on the OnePlus Community, the new software update for the OnePlus Nord CE 5G brings improvements for face unlock, charging speed, front camera performance, and system stability.

It also comes with optimizations for video calls and ‘NIGHTSCAPE’ (night mode) photos. Last but not least, the latest software build also brings fixes for some known issues.

That said, like any other OTA system update, the OxygenOS 11.0.4.4 update for the OnePlus Nord CE 5G is being seeded out in batches globally. Therefore, it may not be available for all users at the moment but it should in the coming days. Anyway, the update arrives with the following build numbers for different regions.

It is the OnePlus Nord CE 5G, packing amazing specifications and a 5G-enabled chipset at a very modest price. But the mother company OPPO also came up with similar devices in this portfolio. Since OnePlus just merged with OPPO, now there is a lot of internal rivals and it is very hard to understand which one is the best, especially in the midrange segment. This comparison between Nord CE 5G and OPPO F19 Pro+ will tell you the differences between these devices and hopefully, let you find out which one is the best for you.

OnePlus Nord CE 5G vs OPPO F19 Pro+ 5G

Design

Despite it is a sort of remake of the original Nord, OnePlus Nord CE 5G has a more optimized design than OPPO F19 Pro+. On the front side, it has narrower bezels making the panel more elegant. Further, thanks to the narrower bezels, the phone is more compact despite having the same display diagonal as its rival. With its rectangle-shaped camera module, OPPO F19 Pro+ looks more modern but its thicker bezels are a con. You can not see a fingerprint reader on both these phones because it is integrated into the display. The OPPO F19 Pro+ has a better build quality and it comes with the Gorilla Glass 5 protection, but I like the design of the Nord CE 5G more.

Display

OnePlus Nord CE 5G and OPPO F19 Pro+ are equipped with great AMOLED panels sporting a 6.43-inch diagonal and a Full HD+ resolution with 1080 x 2400 pixels, as well as an optical in-display fingerprint reader for authentication. As already mentioned OnePlus Nord CE 5G has narrower bezels, but its front panel is not better only due to its aesthetics. The Nord CE 5G also comes with a higher refresh rate than OPPO F19 Pro+: 90 Hz instead of 60 Hz. That is the main difference between the displays of these phones: the OnePlus handset can provide a smoother viewing experience.

Specs & Software

The most advanced hardware belongs to the OnePlus Nord CE 5G. When it comes to the CPU performance, there is no much difference between the Snapdragon 750G by MediaTek and the Dimensity 800U by Qualcomm: both are great midrange processors with 5G support. But with the OnePlus Nord CE 5G, you can get more RAM and more internal storage: the handset comes with up to 12 GB of RAM and up to 256 GB of UFS 2.1 native storage, while OPPO F19 Pro+ has just 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of UFS 2.1 storage. The phones run Android 11 out of the box, customized by OxygenOS and ColorOS, respectively.

Camera

Despite it has a lower amount of cameras, the OnePlus Nord CE 5G should be able to provide a greater photo quality. According to @nirmaltv, a tech blogger from India, OnePlus has started rolling out the second system update for the OnePlus Nord CE 5G hours apart from the first update. Both the software builds bring fixes and improvements for the handset.

The first-ever system update for the OnePlus Nord CE 5G arrives as OxygenOS 11.0.2.2. This build bumps up the security patch level to May 2021. Further, it comes with improvements for screen color accuracy and portrait photography on the selfie camera. It also fixes some known issues.

On the other hand, the second system update for the device bears the build number OxygenOS 11.0.3.3. This update brings improvements for HDR shooting experience and nightscape shooting effect. Lastly, it also optimizes the fluency of 60fps 1080 video recording and fixes certain known issues.

Customers who have got their hands on the phone can head over to Settings to download and install the latest available update.

OnePlus Nord CE 5G price in India

The OnePlus Nord Core Edition 5G variants such as 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage, 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage, and 12 GB RAM + 256 GB storage are priced at Rs 22,999 (~$319), Rs 24,999 (~$341), and Rs 27,999 (~$382), respectively. It comes in colors like Charcoal Ink, Silver Ray and Blue Void.

OnePlus has expanded its Nord line of smartphones with a new model dubbed the Nord CE. The new smartphone is a stripped-down version of the first Nord smartphone but also comes with a few upgrades and a more affordable price tag.

OnePlus Nord CE Design

The Nord CE doesn’t deviate so much from the OnePlus Nord in terms of its look but it does have some key differences. To start with, the punch hole is smaller as it is home to only one camera, and the rear camera housing is also shorter due to having fewer sensors. The Alert Slider is gone but the headphone jack is back, flanking the USB-C port on the left. OnePlus has managed to make the device slimmer at 7.9mm even with a bigger battery capacity and brags that it is its slimmest phone since the OnePlus 6T.

The design is finished with three different colorways – Blue Void which has a matte finish, a beautiful accenting, and is fingerprint resistant; Charcoal Ink which is practically black and has a glossy finish; and Silver Ray which boasts reflective properties that allow it to switch colors depending on the angle light rays hit it.

OnePlus Nord CE Specs

The OnePlus Nord CE has a 6.43-inch Fluid AMOLED display with a hole at the top left corner for the front-facing camera. The screen has a 20:9 aspect ratio and a 90Hz refresh rate but there is no mention of HDR10. Under the hood is the Snapdragon 750G processor and it is paired with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of UFS 2.1 storage.

There are three cameras on the rear – a 64MP main sensor with an f/1.79 aperture and a 0.7 µm pixel size. There is also an 8MP f/2.25 ultrawide angle camera with a 119° field of view and electronic image stabilization. Last is a 2MP f/2.4 mono camera which OnePlus conveniently omits in the launch. There are a number of features built into the camera app such as AI Scene Detection, Night Mode, UltraShot HDR, and Portrait Mode.

The Nord CE has a 16MP front-facing camera with Face Unlock, an in-display fingerprint scanner, NFC, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.1, and dual nano-SIM support

There is a 4500mAh battery inside the device, and with the new OnePlus Warp Charge 30 Plus, it charges from empty to 70% in 30 minutes. OnePlus ships the phone with OxygenOS 11 based on Android 11 and it has features such as Dark Mode, AOD, and Zen Mode.

OnePlus is promising 3 years of security updates and 2 years of software updates which means it should get Android 12 and Android 13.

OnePlus Nord CE Price and Availability

The OnePlus Nord CE will be available for pre-order starting tomorrow before going on sale on June 16. Below are the prices for India and Europe:

• 6GB RAM + 128GB = ₹22,999
• 8GB RAM + 128GB = ₹24,999/€329/£299
• 12GB RAM + 256GB = ₹27,999/€399/£369

Do note that not all of the colors are available in the configuration above. The Silver Ray colorway is limited to the 12GB version (available starting June 23) and you can’t pick up the Blue Void color in the 6+128GB configuration. Charcoal Ink is available for all three configurations.

Those who pre-order the phone will get free gifts worth ₹2,699 which includes a Fanny Pack and product discount vouchers.

In addition, Pricebaba has teamed up with well-known leaker Ishan Agarwal to showcase some other renders and configurations of the Nord CE.

However, the renders shared by Blass show that it will also come in a white variant. The OnePlus Nord CE 5G has appeared with its EB2103 model number at Geekbench. The listing shows that a Qualcomm chip codenamed “lito,” which offers a base frequency of 1.80GHz powers the Nord CE 5G. It can be said based on previous reports that the “lito” chip could be the Snapdragon 750G.

A recent report claimed that the OnePlus Nord CE 5G has 8 GB of RAM. However, the Geekbench listing suggests that there could be a top variant with 12 GB of RAM. In the single-core and multi-core tests of the benchmarking site, the handset recorded 621 and 1789 scores, respectively.

Leaked information that appeared yesterday revealed that the Nord CE 5G will have a punch-hole AMOLED screen that produces an FHD+ resolution and a high refresh rate of 90Hz. But we believe there could be other storage configurations as well as color options. Unfortunately, this quiz does shed light on the prince of the phone. Anyway, it is worth noting that OnePlus has hinted the smartphone to cost less than the original OnePlus Nord.
