OnePlus Nord N200 dropped in the US market in 2021, followed by OnePlus Nord N20 in 2022. The Nord N200 arrived with a Snapdragon 480 and 4GB RAM, while the Nord N20 came with a Snapdragon 695 and 6GB RAM. Both devices are budget-friendly smartphones, and according to a recent announcement, these phones will start receiving August security updates in North America.

As per the recent post on the OnePlus community page by Winkey W. (software team), the company has started rolling out OxygenOS C.15 (for the OnePlus Nord N20) and OxygenOS C.25 (for the OnePlus Nord N200) in North America. For those wondering, this patch focuses on security enhancement to protect the devices from security breaches. With smartphones storing sensitive data, security breaches have become a real threat. Thus, the company is actively working on security patches to protect the devices from security vulnerabilities.

Additionally, these updates were released for a small percentage of users on 30 August, and the company will begin a broader rollout in a few days.

It is not uncommon to see Chinese smartphones being rebranded across different markets in the world with a different model name to cater to the specific markets. The main Chinese tech conglomerates which practice this business tactic are respectively Xiaomi (with its sub-brands Xiaomi, Redmi and Poco) and the BBK Group (with its sub-brands Oppo, Realme, Narzo, OnePlus, Vivo and iQOO).

However, what if say the next-generation smartphone had the exact same specs as the last generation release? 

This may be a first for the industry, as the latest Oppo Reno 8 Z 5G released in Southeast Asia last month, has the exact same, fully identical specifications as the previous generation Oppo Reno 7 Z 5G which was also released in the Southeast Asia market as well.

As you can see here, the new Reno 8 Z has the same Snapdragon 695 5G SoC under the hood, the same 6.43” 60Hz screen with identical brightness specs, the same 4500 mAh battery, the same 33W SuperVOOC charging, the same triple camera setup, even the same 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM, and even the same 128GB of UFS 2.2 base storage.

The only difference between the two phones is just the back camera island, which has been extended to the plastic frame of the device. But even the camera placement on the module remains unchanged, and the phone has even gotten thicker and heavier at 181g (Oppo Reno 8 Z) compared to the 173g on the Oppo Reno 7 Z.

And the crazier fact, the Oppo Reno 7 Z (and Oppo Reno 8 Z) has been rebranded and re-released for many Asian and European markets in 2022 under many aliased names. Here is a quick rundown of what the device is named in other markets:

A couple of months, the OnePlus Nord N20 5G smartphone was launched in the United States but the device was exclusively available through T-Mobile. Now, it appears that the exclusively has ended.

The company has announced that the unlocked version of the OnePlus Nord N20 smartphone is now available in the United States. The phone is priced at $299 and is now available through the company’s own website, Amazon, and Best Buy.

As for the specifications, the OnePlus Nord N20 5G features a 6.43-inch AMOLED display with a punch-hole cutout in the upper-left corner. The device also comes with an under-display fingerprint sensor for added security.

Under the hood, the device is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 processor, coupled with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. There’s also a microSD card slot that allows users to further expand the storage capacity.

In the camera department, there’s a 64-megapixel primary sensor on the back, coupled with a 2-megapixel monochrome lens and a 2-megapixel macro sensor. On the front side, there’s a 16-megapixel snapper for taking selfies and video calling.

The smartphone runs the Android 11 operating system out-of-the-box with the company’s own OxygenOS 11 on top. It is powered by a 4,500mAh battery that comes with support for 33W fast charging.

OnePlus has announced a new marketing partnership with UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) for the latest Nord series smartphone available in the United States, which is dubbed the OnePlus Nord N20 5G.

It appears that with such a partnership with UFC, the OPPO-backed company is looking to deepen its presence in the United States or the North American market. The company says that the partnership will promote making 5G services more affordable and accessible in the North American region.

The OnePlus Nord N20 5G was launched in the United States a couple of weeks ago as an entry-level 5G smartphone. Priced at under $300, it is one of the cheapest 5G phones available in the US but it is currently being sold exclusively through T-Mobile and Metro.

With this new marketing partnership, the OnePlus brand will be exposed to a wide range of audiences, which could result in the company signing deals with other carriers in the country for expanding its presence.

Being an Offical Marketing Partner of UFC, the OnePlus brand will appear in key UFC assets, including broadcast features on select Pay-per-Views and custom and original content that will be distributed across official UFC social media, channels, and digital platforms.

Oppo is known for selling its F series phones under Reno Z and Reno Lite brandings in different markets. This year’s F21 Pro 5G is sold under Oneplus Nord N branding as well. Additionally, new renders have now leaked suggesting that the smartphone will also go by yet another Reno Lite device.

Twitter user @_snoopytech_ has shared renders of alleged Oppo Reno 8 Lite 5G, a handset that’s yet to go official. Going by the images, the phone looks the same as the Oppo Reno 7 Lite 5G, which is nothing but a rebranded Oppo F21 Pro 5G.

This very same smartphone is sold under two more names. It goes by the name of Oppo Reno 7 Z 5G and Oneplus Nord N20 5G.

If these renders are legit, then for the first time, Oppo would be releasing the same device as two generations of smartphones. We are as confused as you are. Probably, the Reno 8 Lite 5G will launch in the markets where the Reno 7 Lite 5G did not.

At present, it’s not known when this so-called Oppo Reno 8 Lite 5G will be made official. Anyway, we are looking forward to learning about its availability and price.

Starting from the front, the OnePlus Nord N20 5G offers a 6.43-inch AMOLED panel with a punch-hole in the upper-left corner. The handset sports a boxy design and lacks the iconic alert slider. The screen of the Nord N20 5G is integrated with a fingerprint sensor.

The Snapdragon 695 SoC is at the helm of the Nord N20 5G. It comes with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. For more storage, users can add a microSD card to the device. It houses a 4,500mAh battery that supports 33W fast charging.

On the photography front, the OnePlus Nord N20 features a 16-megapixel selfie camera and a 64-megapixel triple camera unit on the back. The rear camera setup also includes a 2-megapixel monochrome camera and a 2-megapixel macro camera.

The phone boots to the Android 11 OS and OxygenOS 11. Other features that are available on the device include 5G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and a USB-C port.

Last year, OnePlus launched the budget-centric OnePlus Nord N10 5G in select markets including the United States. The smartphone was catered for the budget segment by offering a Snapdragon 690 SoC under the hood. Now, it looks like it is time for its successor to arrive. Today, 91Mobiles(via OnLeaks) has shared 5k renders of the upcoming OnePlus Nord N20 5G.

According to renders, the OnePlus Nord N20 5G sports a refreshed design. The device boasts a more boxy form factor over the curvy design seen on the Nord N10 5G. The Nord N20 5G will feature a single punch-hole display with thinner bezels on all sides except for the bottom. It has a slightly thicker chin at the bottom.

The major design change is in the rear. The smartphone sports a triple camera system instead of a quadruple-camera setup as seen in the predecessor. The camera lenses are placed quite differently where the two lenses are placed vertically and the third lens edges to the right side of the phone. Unfortunately, the camera specs are unknown as of now.

Moving to the sides, the smartphone has the power button on the right side, whereas, the volume rocker and the SIM card tray is placed on the left side. The device has a USB Type-C port at the bottom beside the 3.5mm headphone jack, microphone, and speaker grille. On the top, it has a secondary microphone for noise cancellation.

Apart from this, the renders do not reveal its specs. But, what we know are the colour variants. The smartphone will launch in Purple and Grey shades.

As of now, the company has not revealed any official information about the smartphone. But, considering that the phone has appeared in high-resolution renders, we expect the launch to be in the pipeline. Just like the Nord N10 5G, the Nord N20 5G is expected to initially launch in the west.
