<p>A <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/oneplus">OnePlus </a>foldable is very much real, and the company even hinted its name in a recent teaser. The company’s first folding phone will be called<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/oneplus-fold/"> OnePlus Open</a>, and it is rumored to launch on August 29. However, the launch of the smartphone is said to be delayed for a &#8216;good reason.&#8217; The company apparently decided to make last-minute display changes, switching manufacturers all the way from China to South Korea.</p>

<h2>OnePlus Open to use Samsung displays instead of BOE</h2>

<p>Max Jambor claims on Twitter/X that OnePlus has delayed the launch of its first foldable phone. The reason behind the delay is that OnePlus decided to switch from using BOE panels to Samsung-made displays. Jambor hints that BOE panels didn&#8217;t meet the expected standards, and Samsung&#8217;s displays are known to be better. So, this could actually be good news for the upcoming phone.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="576" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/OnePlus-Fold-CAD-render-1024x576.webp?x10805" alt="OnePlus-Fold-CAD-render" class="wp-image-555030" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/OnePlus-Fold-CAD-render-1024x576.webp 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/OnePlus-Fold-CAD-render-300x169.webp 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/OnePlus-Fold-CAD-render-768x432.webp 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/OnePlus-Fold-CAD-render-696x392.webp 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/OnePlus-Fold-CAD-render-1068x601.webp 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/OnePlus-Fold-CAD-render-747x420.webp 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/OnePlus-Fold-CAD-render.webp 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p>OnePlus Open was supposed to be a book-style foldable, similar to the new <a href="http://gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-z-fold-5">Galaxy Z Fold 5</a>. Initially, it was reported to launch <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/07/14/oneplus-open-is-set-to-launch-on-august-29-claims-report/">on August 29,</a> but now the date has been pushed back, so you can expect its debut in late 2023. If the rumors are true, OnePlus Open should be a rebranded <a href="http://gizmochina.com/product/oppo-find-n3">Oppo Find N3</a>, expected to launch in China sometime this month.</p>

<p>The folding phone is rumored to have a 6.3-inch AMOLED FHD+ 120Hz cover screen and a 7.8-inch foldable AMOLED display with Quad HD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. It is likely to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip, as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 will not be released until October.</p>

<p>The phone is expected to have a 4,805mAh battery with support for 67W fast charging and 50W wireless charging. It will run on Android 13, specifically the OxygenOS Fold variant.</p>
