<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-397797 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/OPPO-OnePlus-logo.jpg?x44794" alt="OPPO + OnePlus logo" width="908" height="565" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/OPPO-OnePlus-logo.jpg 908w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/OPPO-OnePlus-logo-300x187.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/OPPO-OnePlus-logo-768x478.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/OPPO-OnePlus-logo-696x433.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/OPPO-OnePlus-logo-675x420.jpg 675w" sizes="(max-width: 908px) 100vw, 908px" /></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Although OnePlus merged its operating system codebase with OPPO&#8217;s <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/ColorOS/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">ColorOS</a> and the Chinese OnePlus devices come with ColorOS out of the box, the brand has largely been able to maintain its identity. Now, in an interview, OnePlus China&#8217;s president Li Jie has shared some of the advantages that have been gained from the merger.</p>
<p>In an interview with NetEase Technology and other media outlets, Li Jin revealed that they are now able to expand to 10,000 offline stores overnight in China. As we know, OnePlus for the large part has been an online-focused brand with most of its sales happening online. Using OPPO&#8217;s resources, OnePlus can now expand its physical stores to 2,800 county towns, 4,000 core business districts, and more than 5,000 experience points overnight.</p>
<p>The company is able to do so by opening its experience stores inside of existing OPPO outlets. Usually, it takes years for a manufacturer to establish 10,000 physical stores, and it also takes a lot of capital investment. But that&#8217;s not the case for OnePlus as Li Jin explains &#8220;OPPO&#8217;s store is ready-made, the rent has been paid, and the basic salary of the experienced consultant has been paid. For us, it is only on the counter. Find an area that belongs to OnePlus, put the product on it, and if the product generates some sales or services, you will get a commission. This is the benefit of integration, and the offline cost is very low.”</p>
<p>Li Jie also emphasized the importance of having offline experience store sayings &#8220;Our products and brands have always emphasized workmanship and texture, including detail polishing. If there is no offline experience link, many times users don&#8217;t know or perceive it!&#8221;</p>
<figure id="attachment_454809" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-454809" style="width: 880px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="wp-image-454809 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Oneplus-Ace-Oneplus-10R-Featured-B.jpg?x44794" alt="Oneplus Ace / Oneplus 10R" width="880" height="587" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Oneplus-Ace-Oneplus-10R-Featured-B.jpg 880w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Oneplus-Ace-Oneplus-10R-Featured-B-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Oneplus-Ace-Oneplus-10R-Featured-B-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Oneplus-Ace-Oneplus-10R-Featured-B-696x464.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Oneplus-Ace-Oneplus-10R-Featured-B-630x420.jpg 630w" sizes="(max-width: 880px) 100vw, 880px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-454809" class="wp-caption-text">Oneplus Ace</figcaption></figure>
<p>Using OPPO&#8217;s supply chain to achieve this will largely reduce the cost and investment for OnePlus. OnePlus president also pointed out many other benefits they enjoy with the merger. OnePlus recently launched the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/oneplus-ace/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">OnePlus Ace</a> which features OPPO&#8217;s <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/02/28/oppo-reveals-240w-fast-charging-upcoming-oneplus-phone-150w-charging/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">150W SUPERVOOC fast charging</a>. The cutting edge fast charging speed would&#8217;ve been difficult to achieve as OnePlus previously worked alone and only had one or two thousand engineers. After the integration, it cooperates with more than 10,000 engineers from OPPO expanding its R&amp;D capabilities and increasing efficiency.</p>
<p>Separately, the recently launched OnePlus Ace will be rebranded for the global market and launch with the OnePlus 10R moniker in India on April 27. Check out our roundup story to learn more about the upcoming phone.</p>

Now, a leaked memo has stated that the former will become the latter&#8217;s sub-brand.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-395247 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/oneplus.png?x44794" alt="OnePlus" width="1080" height="520" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/oneplus.png 1080w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/oneplus-300x144.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/oneplus-768x370.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/oneplus-1024x493.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/oneplus-696x335.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/oneplus-1068x514.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/oneplus-872x420.png 872w" sizes="(max-width: 1080px) 100vw, 1080px" /></p>
<p>A tweet from known tipster Evan Blass shared the leaked internal memo that was for the OnePlus PR team. It explains the integration of the two companies, stating that &#8220;With the integration, OnePlus becomes a brand within Oppo, however will continue to function as an independent entity.&#8221; The memo further added that the CEO, Pete Lau, will become the chief product officer at Oppo, while also being responsible for product strategies for both Chinese smartphone brands as well.</p>
<p>In other words, the memo has basically confirmed that OnePlus will be a part of Oppo. It states that &#8220;With the merging of both the firms, we will have more resources at hand to create even better products. It will also allow us to be more efficient in our operations.&#8221; At the moment, the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/01/21/oneplus-oppo-rd-merges-software-features-unaffected/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">research and development departments</a> of both vendors have already been merged, and will be integration between both firms will grow to streamline day to day business as per <a href="https://www.theverge.com/2021/6/21/22543184/oppo-oneplus-merger-brand-pete-lau-bbk-memo" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>TheVerge</em></a>.</p>
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-width="550" data-dnt="true">
<p lang="en" dir="ltr">Just received these talking points on the new relationship between Oppo and OnePlus. Might help to clear up some confusion. <a href="https://t.co/mIVyjcmeKD">pic.twitter.com/mIVyjcmeKD</a></p>

<p><script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script></p>
<p>Keep in mind, OnePlus users shouldn&#8217;t expect any changes that would directly affect the customers in any drastic manner. Despite the shared ownership and supply chain that have always existed between the two companies, OnePlus will still function individually for the most part. Furthermore, the company isn&#8217;t portraying itself as a startup any longer either, prior to the launch of its upcoming flagship series of smartphones.</p>

While both companies had planned to share merge their R&amp;D team, OnePlus did clarify that its software won&#8217;t be touched. In a new twist, OnePlus has announced the full integration of its smartphone brand with OPPO. The company will now function as a brand under OPPO but it still retains its independence. <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/oneplus.png?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-395247" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/oneplus.png?x44794" alt="" width="1080" height="520" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/oneplus.png 1080w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/oneplus-300x144.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/oneplus-768x370.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/oneplus-1024x493.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/oneplus-696x335.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/oneplus-1068x514.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/oneplus-872x420.png 872w" sizes="(max-width: 1080px) 100vw, 1080px" /></a></p>
<p>In a press release to fans posted on its forum, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau disclosed that the move would open up more resources to the company which could be deployed to create better products. He also stated that the integration would make OnePlus become more efficient in aspects such as faster and more stable software updates for OnePlus users.</p>
<p>Recall that in August 2020 that Pete Lau, the founder, and CEO of OnePlus, returned to OPPO as senior vice president and the company&#8217;s head of product strategy. But even before now, it was common to notice that OnePlus&#8217; flagship models were sometimes rebadged OPPO models.</p>
<p>The OnePlus CEO further stated that the brand will continue to operate independently, maintaining its focus on providing its fans with the best possible products and experience. The company will continue to launch OnePlus products and will equally hold separate launch events. The OnePlus community will equally be retained for closer feedback on all channels. However, we may continue to see models launched under the OPPO brand in some markets and under the Oneplus brand subsequently in other markets.</p>
