OnePlus has started rolling out OxygenOS 16 for the OnePlus Pad 2 and Pad 3 in India. The update runs on Android 16 and will reach other regions soon. The Pad 2 gets build number OPD2403_16.0.0.202(EX01), while the Pad 3 receives OPD2415_16.0.0.211(EX01).

Faster System Performance

The update makes animations, scrolling, and touch response smoother. You can now drag and drop icons, widgets, folders, and the Smart Sidebar more easily. OnePlus’ tablet line is a bit confusing at the moment. Globally, the company released the OnePlus Pad 3 this year, as a sequel to last year’s Snapdragon-powered OnePlus Pad 2. But in China, we just recently got the Pad 2, except this one has a Dimensity 9400+.

So technically, the China version of the “Pad 2” is newer than the global Pad 2 — yet branding-wise, the international model already moved on to the Pad 3. Confused? You’re not alone.

Let’s break it down: the China-only OnePlus Pad 2 is essentially a fresh 2025 tablet sitting between the global Pad 2 and Pad 3 in both specs and positioning. It’s not a downgrade, but it’s also not quite the same successor path as the global lineup.

While the Pad 2 is an older model, let’s go through how the Chinese Pad 2 stacks up against the global Pad 3. And is the naming difference hiding a better-than-expected device?

Performance

This is the main story. The OnePlus Pad 3 uses Snapdragon 8 Elite, Qualcomm’s top chip when it launched back in June. The China-only Pad 2 uses MediaTek’s Dimensity 9400+, which is a counterpart of the 8 Elite on Pad 2. 

Both chips perform very similarly; it would be hard to tell a real-world difference while using them, but the numbers can be all over and down between the models. 

The Chinese Pad 2 also has a giant vapor chamber cooling system (46,000mm²). In comparison, the Pad 3 comes with a  34,857mm² vapor chamber system. Regardless, both should be enough to dissipate heat and stabilize the performance.

OnePlus has launched the OnePlus Pad 3, its latest flagship tablet. The tablet is essentially a rebrand of the recently launched China-exclusive OnePlus Pad 2 Pro.

OnePlus Pad 3 features

It features a 13.2-inch LCD display with a 3392 x 2400 resolution, 144Hz refresh rate, 315 PPI, up to 900 nits brightness, and a variable refresh rate that adjusts between 30Hz and 144Hz. The touch sampling rate goes up to 540Hz.

The tablet is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite 3nm platform with a maximum clock speed of 4.32GHz and an Adreno 830 GPU. It comes with either 12GB of LPDDR5x RAM or 16GB of LPDDR5T RAM, along with 256GB or 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage. It runs Android 15 with OxygenOS 15.

It includes eight speakers, with four mid-bass units and four ultra-wideband tweeters. The tablet uses omnidirectional sound field technology to adjust audio channels based on screen direction.

The Pad 3 has a single 13MP rear camera placed in the corner and an 8MP front camera. It has a metal unibody design, is 5.97mm thick, and weighs 675g. The battery is 12,140mAh and supports 80W SuperVOOC charging. A full charge takes 92 minutes, and a 10-minute charge gives 18 percent battery.

Other features include USB Type-C audio, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, and USB 3.2 Gen 1 for data transfer. It also supports 5G data sharing.

The upgraded keyboard has larger keycaps, a new AI button, and can tilt between 110 and 165 degrees. It supports NFC transfers and connects magnetically. The tablet also supports the OnePlus Stylo 2 stylus.

Pricing & availability

The OnePlus Pad 3 is priced at USD 699.99 for the 12GB + 256GB model and USD 799 for the 16GB + 512GB variant. The keyboard is priced at USD 199.99, the Stylo 2 at USD 99.99, and the Folio Case at USD 49.99.

The tablet will be available in Europe from June 19 and in North America from July 8. Pre-orders are open now. It will launch soon in India through Amazon.in, Flipkart, and OnePlus.in.

The brand has confirmed the launch date of the OnePlus Pad 3 for certain regions, so let’s check it out.

OnePlus Pad 3: When will it launch in the US?

The OnePlus Pad 3 is basically a rebranded version of the OnePlus Pad 2 Pro. It will be arriving with cutting edge specs in North America (US and Canada), Europe, and the UK on 5th June 2025. To recall, it is the same the date when the OnePlus 13s (rebranded OnePlus 13T) will debut in the Indian market. The Chinese brand has confirmed that the OnePlus Pad 3 will debut in the global market with the Snapdragon 8 Elite, which is the same processor that powers the Galaxy S25 Ultra and the OnePlus 13.

A teaser image poster also confirmed that the premium tablet will feature the OnePlus Open Canvas, which uses up to 3 on-screen apps. The teasers have also shown a design similar to the OnePlus Pad 2 Pro and support for a keyboard and stylus with the tablet. We can see the upcoming OnePlus Pad 3 in the Deep Sea Blue color option. While finer details are still at large, the OnePlus Pad 2 Pro’s recent announcement has revealed a lot of its hardware and features.
