The premium Android tablet space has started seeing more meaningful upgrades lately, and the OnePlus Pad 4 appears to be part of that transition. Ahead of its official launch, the tablet has surfaced with flagship-grade hardware, a slimmer body, and a stronger focus on productivity. After spending some time with the device, the OnePlus Pad 4 gives the impression of a tablet that wants to do far more than basic entertainment and casual browsing.

A slimmer design that feels premium

One of the first things noticeable about the OnePlus Pad 4 is its thin profile. Measuring under 6mm, the tablet feels impressively slim despite carrying a large display and battery. The metal unibody construction adds a premium touch, while the overall weight distribution makes it comfortable to hold during extended use. The Dune Glow color variant seen on our unit has a soft bronze-like finish with a satin texture that looks elegant without appearing overly flashy. However, the rear panel does attract fingerprints quite easily during daily handling.

The camera module has been positioned in the top-right corner when used in landscape orientation. While the module slightly protrudes, it does not create too much wobbling when placed on a flat surface. OnePlus has also included pogo pins for connecting the optional keyboard accessory.

Large display leaves a strong first impression

The OnePlus Pad 4 features a 13.2-inch LCD screen with a 3.4K resolution and a 144Hz adaptive refresh rate. Early impressions of the panel are largely positive. Colours appear vibrant, text looks sharp, and the slim bezels help create a more immersive viewing experience. The display also supports Dolby Vision and reaches up to 1,000 nits brightness in high brightness mode.

The large screen size paired with the 7:5 aspect ratio gives the tablet a more comfortable layout for reading, editing documents, and multitasking. Indoor visibility has been good during initial usage, although direct sunlight does affect readability to some extent.

Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 powers the experience

Powering the tablet is the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset paired with up to 12GB LPDDR5X RAM and up to 512GB UFS 4.1 storage. During early testing, the tablet handled multitasking smoothly, with apps opening quickly and split-screen usage remaining fluid. OnePlus has also included a larger vapour chamber cooling system, which could help maintain performance during demanding tasks and gaming sessions.

While short-term performance appears promising, the real picture regarding thermal management and sustained performance will become clearer after extended testing. Still, the hardware combination suggests that the OnePlus Pad 4 is targeting power users alongside casual consumers.

OxygenOS 16 focuses on productivity

The tablet runs OxygenOS 16, which includes several features designed specifically for larger screens. Multi-window functionality has been improved, allowing users to work across multiple floating apps more comfortably. File management tools have also been redesigned for easier navigation, while cross-device connectivity features aim to create a smoother workflow between smartphones, tablets, and PCs.

OnePlus is also introducing the new OnePlus Stylo Pro alongside the tablet. The stylus supports 16,000 levels of pressure sensitivity and comes with interchangeable tips designed for different use cases. The Writing Tip uses a high-friction material that is said to absorb up to 90 per cent of writing impact for a more paper-like feel, while the Drawing Tip uses a low-friction material aimed at smoother sketching movements. The stylus also supports gesture controls such as pinch, double-tap, and swipe gestures, adding extra shortcuts for productivity and creative tasks. The company is clearly positioning the tablet as a device that can handle both entertainment and productivity-focused workflows.

Large battery could be a key advantage

The OnePlus Pad 4 packs a 13,380mAh battery with support for 80W fast charging. On paper, this could become one of the tablet’s strongest selling points, especially for users who spend long hours streaming content, attending meetings, or working on the move. Actual battery endurance and charging speeds will need deeper testing, but the combination of a large battery and powerful internals looks promising so far.

Based on initial impressions, the OnePlus Pad 4 feels like OnePlus’ most refined tablet yet. Its slim design, large high-refresh-rate display, flagship hardware, and productivity-focused software help it stand out in the premium Android tablet segment. OnePlus is preparing to launch a new flagship tablet in India, and this one looks like a serious step up. The company has now confirmed the name, along with a good chunk of the specs, ahead of the official debut later this month.

The OnePlus Pad 4 is set to launch on April 30 at 12 PM IST. Based on what’s been revealed so far, this is clearly not meant to be a mid-range tablet. OnePlus is aiming straight at the premium segment here.

Powering the device is the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, paired with up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. Speaking of the display, the Pad 4 features a 13.2-inch panel with a 3.4K resolution (3392 x 2400) and a 144Hz refresh rate. It also supports Dolby Vision and goes up to 1,000 nits brightness in high brightness mode.

Battery capacity is another area where OnePlus is going big. The tablet packs a 13,380mAh battery, along with 80W fast charging. That should be enough for long sessions without constantly worrying about plugging it in, although real-world usage will obviously tell the full story.

Design-wise, OnePlus is sticking with a metal unibody build, which is expected at this level. The tablet will be available in Dune Glow and Sage Mist, both of which seem to lean toward a more subtle, clean look rather than anything flashy.

There’s a single rear camera on the back, though OnePlus hasn’t shared details about it yet. The Pad 4 will also support the OnePlus Stylo Pro and a dedicated smart keyboard, which makes it pretty clear the company is positioning this as more than just a media device.

Overall, the OnePlus Pad 4 looks like a fairly straightforward upgrade, but a meaningful one. The focus seems to be on performance, display quality, and battery life rather than trying to reinvent anything.
