<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/samsung/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Samsung </a>introduced a bunch of new features and improvements with its latest OneUI 7 custom skin, which is based on the Android 15 OS. It was first released along with the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/01/31/galaxy-s25-series-introduces-google-gemini-live-with-hindi-support-in-india/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Galaxy S25 series</a> of flagship smartphones, bringing various new camera features that might soon be arriving on older models as well.</p>

<h2>Galaxy S25 Camera Features Coming to Older Galaxy Devices</h2>

<p>The South Korean tech giant&#8217;s One UI 7 update brought a bunch of new camera features like customizable filters, log video, virtual aperture, and much more. However, these are software features and they might soon be arriving on older Galaxy phones in the near future. Samsung could bring these features with the upcoming OneUI 7.1 update.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="640" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/Galaxy-S25-Ultra-1-1024x640.png?x44794" alt="Galaxy S25 Ultra" class="wp-image-671122" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/Galaxy-S25-Ultra-1-1024x640.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/Galaxy-S25-Ultra-1-300x188.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/Galaxy-S25-Ultra-1-768x480.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/Galaxy-S25-Ultra-1-696x435.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/Galaxy-S25-Ultra-1-1068x668.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/Galaxy-S25-Ultra-1-672x420.png 672w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/Galaxy-S25-Ultra-1.png 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>According to a new <a href="https://samlover.com/2025/01/28/one-ui-7-1-update-might-add-new-camera-features-to-older-devices/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">report</a>, Samsung plans to introduce a new bundle of camera features on older Galaxy phones that are compatible with the OneUI 7.1 update. For those unaware, the Galaxy S25 series introduced six new filters in the camera app that allow users to tweak the aesthetic of their pictures. Samsung is now even allowing users to customize filters as well. So you can change the color temperature, contrast, and even saturation.</p>

<p>In the Pro mode, you can find the new Log Video format support for a professional videography experience. Samsung also launched the Galaxy S25 series with a 10 bit HDR video feature that is turned on by default for a wider dynamic range. Considering how most of these are software upgrades, high end models like the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra should be getting these features. This is all the information we have at the moment, so stay tuned for more.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/samsung/">Samsung</a> Galaxy users may soon get to experience the highly anticipated <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2024/10/28/samsung-one-ui-7-what-to-expect/2/">One UI 7</a> update, with the beta program expected to roll out later this month. Trusted tipster ICE Universe has shared that One UI 7 Beta will be available after <strong>November 17</strong>, starting in South Korea and the United States.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="601" height="155" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/OneUI-7-Beta-leak-2.png?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-659534" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/OneUI-7-Beta-leak-2.png 601w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/OneUI-7-Beta-leak-2-300x77.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 601px) 100vw, 601px" /></figure></div>

<p>Users in India may receive the beta in December, according to tipster Tarun Vats, while 91mobiles reports that other regions—including China, the UK, Germany, and Poland—are expected to join around the same timeframe.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="577" height="119" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/OneUI-7-Beta-leak.png?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-659535" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/OneUI-7-Beta-leak.png 577w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/OneUI-7-Beta-leak-300x62.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 577px) 100vw, 577px" /></figure></div>

<h2>Expected visual and functional changes in One UI 7</h2>

<p>Samsung’s One UI 7 will bring several design enhancements and usability improvements. According to rumors, one of the most noticeable changes will be the refreshed icons for stock apps such as Gallery and Camera. This visual update is expected to extend across the interface, with more rounded UI elements in areas like the Control Center widgets, notification banners, battery indicators, and various other toggles.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="816" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/OneUI-7-Beta-1-1024x816.jpg?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-659536" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/OneUI-7-Beta-1-1024x816.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/OneUI-7-Beta-1-300x239.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/OneUI-7-Beta-1-768x612.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/OneUI-7-Beta-1-696x555.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/OneUI-7-Beta-1-1068x851.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/OneUI-7-Beta-1-527x420.jpg 527w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/OneUI-7-Beta-1.jpg 1440w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p>Notably, Samsung may also reconfigure the layout of Control Center widgets, affecting the placement of frequently used controls such as media, dark mode, and volume sliders. Additionally, a significant change includes separating the notification tray from the Control Center, although this configuration will still be accessible through the GoodLock app.</p>

<p>Other updates could streamline the user experience. For example, the quick shortcuts tray will initially appear minimized but can be expanded with a tap to reveal more options. Additionally, users may gain more intuitive access to certain functions, like direct toggles for zoom levels in the camera app, offering a smoother photography experience.</p>

<h2>Performance and efficiency improvements</h2>

<p>Beyond design changes, One UI 7 may include performance and efficiency optimizations. This new version aims to improve overall speed, battery life, and resource management, potentially making daily use smoother and more efficient for Galaxy device users.</p>

<p>Underneath the new One UI 7 skin, users will also find the latest <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2024/11/03/reasons-why-android-15-is-better-than-android-14/">Android 15</a> operating system, which will further enhance the device’s capabilities with Android’s latest features.</p>

<p>While Galaxy users will get a taste of One UI 7 through the beta program this year, the stable version of One UI 7 is expected to debut early next year with the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-s25/">Galaxy S25</a> series.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/one-ui/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">One UI</a> is now expected to get a new feature called App Lock with the upcoming <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/one-ui-7/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">One UI 7</a> update. The news comes from tipster Tarun Vats on X (formerly Twitter). Notably, this is not going to be an entirely new addition to One UI and was present in previous One UI versions in certain regions. <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/apple/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Apple</a> is also developing similar functionality, which may have motivated <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/samsung/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Samsung</a> to pursue this development for One UI 7.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="437" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/OneUI-7-App-Lock-feature-under-development-1024x437.jpg?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-633930" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/OneUI-7-App-Lock-feature-under-development-1024x437.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/OneUI-7-App-Lock-feature-under-development-300x128.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/OneUI-7-App-Lock-feature-under-development-768x328.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/OneUI-7-App-Lock-feature-under-development-1536x655.jpg 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/OneUI-7-App-Lock-feature-under-development-696x297.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/OneUI-7-App-Lock-feature-under-development-1068x456.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/OneUI-7-App-Lock-feature-under-development-1920x819.jpg 1920w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/OneUI-7-App-Lock-feature-under-development-984x420.jpg 984w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/OneUI-7-App-Lock-feature-under-development.jpg 1931w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<h2>One UI 7 could offer an App Lock feature</h2>

<p>The App Lock feature is currently missing from One UI 6. You can see a screenshot above, that shows the feature available in an under-development version of One UI. This is under the Advanced Features section in the Settings app. At present, you won&#8217;t see the &#8220;App Lock&#8221; feature below Dual Messenger in the Advanced Features section on devices running on <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/one-ui-6-1/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">One UI 6.1</a>.</p>

<p>It&#8217;s important to mention that you can still hide your apps, documents, and files in the Secure Folder. You will just need to set up the feature for the first time and install a new instance of that app. However, if you are not willing to go through the entire setup process and just want a simple app lock, the upcoming feature could be for you.</p>

<p>There are a couple of other similar helpful features currently available in One UI such as the Samsung Pass, Auto Blocker, Secure Folder, and Private Share.</p>

<p>Nonetheless, the App Lock feature is currently under development and the company may or may not offer the feature in the upcoming One UI 7.</p>
