June was a slow month in terms of smartphone launches. On the other hand, July will be completely opposite.

More than 10 brands have confirmed to release new phones in the next couple of weeks alone. Most of these handsets fall under mid-range and affordable premium categories.

But we will also witness the launch of some foldables and premium phones. The majority of these products will be announced in China with some of them making their debut in multiple international markets.

So it’s not surprising that most of these brands are Chinese, such as iQOO, Red Magic, Honor, OnePlus, Oppo, Vivo, Ralme, and Infinix. Anyways, we will also new devices from non-Chinese brands, like Samsung, Motorola, and Nothing.

Let’s check out all the handsets that are expected to release in the coming days.

OPPO A78 4G leaked render

The OPPO A78 4G will retain the same design as its 5G variant that was launched earlier in January this year. However, one noticeable change is that the upcoming offering will feature a punch-hole cutout at the top left corner of the display and there is a thick chin at the bottom. The back panel has a protruding pill-shaped camera module with two rings that house two sensors and an LED flash. The phone has a compact form factor with power and volume rocker buttons located on the right side. As per the renders, the OPPO A78 4G will be offered in Green and Black color options.

As per the report, the OPPO A78 4G will have slightly different specifications compared to the 5G version. It will feature an AMOLED display measuring 6.43 inches and bearing an FHD+ resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. On the optics front, it will come with 50MP main cameras and a 2MP macro unit.

Under the hood, the OPPO A78 4G will reportedly be powered by a Snapdragon 680 processor. It is tipped to pack 8GB RAM and 128GB storage. As per the recent FCC certification, the smartphone will be backed by a 5,000mAh battery. The report adds that it will support 67W fast charging.

The OPPO A78 4G has been listed on FCC and Bluetooth SIG websites with model number CPH2565. The FCC certification reveals that the device will run on the brand’s proprietary ColorOS 13.1 which could be based on Android 13. Dimension-wise, it will have a height of 158.76 mm and a width of 71.04 mm. Connectivity options on the upcoming offering will include 4G, 3G, dual-band WiFi, and Bluetooth. The FCC certification also mentions that the OPPO A78 4G will be powered by a 5,000mAh battery unit similar to the 5G version of the device.

The Bluetooth SIG listing of the OPPO A78 4G reveals that it will support Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity.

Apart from this, the certification websites don’t reveal any additional information of the OPPO A78 4G. Considering that the smartphone has bagged multiple certifications, it could launch soon in various global markets. The device is expected to be a toned-down offering compared to its 5G counterpart. It could be powered by a different processor.

The Oppo A78 5G is already available for purchase in the Indian market, offering a Dimensity 700 SoC with a 90Hz refresh rate and 33W fast charging. With a price of around $230, the device may not seem very impressive compared to other phones in the same price range. However, it seems that Oppo is preparing to release a new 4G version of the device. The Oppo A78 4G has been spotted on IMDA, hinting at an imminent launch.

Oppo A78 4G will be cheaper than the 5G one

The Oppo A78 4G variant with the model number CPH2565 has appeared on the IMDA certification website. The listing itself does not reveal anything particularly interesting. It confirms the obvious information, such as support for WCDMA, LTE, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, NFC, and GPS. Apart from these details, not much else has been revealed about this upcoming device.

The 4G in the name of the device suggests it will be priced lower than the Oppo A78 5G (review), which is listed on Amazon India for Rs. 18,999 ($230). It is likely to get a different processor and probably a stripped-down display.

To remind you, the Oppo A78 5G gets a 6.56-inch LCD HD+ display with a maximum refresh rate of 90Hz. It is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 700, paired with 8 GB of LPDDR4x RAM. The handset features an 8MP camera on the front. On the back, you get a dual camera setup that includes a 50MP primary sensor, a 2MP depth shooter, and an LED flash. The Oppo A78 5G packs a 5,000mAh battery with 33W fast charging. It runs on Android 13 OS out of the box, which is overlaid with ColorOS 13. The device weighs 188 grams and measures 7.99mm.
