OPPO has been rolling out Android 11-based ColorOS 11 builds for eligible smartphones since September 2020. The company has managed to deliver stable builds for a plethora of handsets. Right now, the firm is seeding out ColorOS 11 stable update for not one but five new devices.

At the beginning of every month, OPPO shares its update rollout plan for that month. Following the schedule for May, the Chinese smartphone maker had begun to roll out the stable update to certain phones last week.

Unfortunately, we were unable to cover the news stories for these handsets. Hence, in this article, we have listed all the OPPO smartphones that started receiving Android 11 stable update in the past few days.

Chinese smartphone maker OPPO has been delivering Android 11-based ColorOS 11 update to its devices worldwide since its announcement in September 2020. Earlier this month, the company shared ColorOS 11 update timeline for February 2021. Following the schedule, the firm has now opened beta registrations for OPPO A91 in Indonesia.

For those unaware, OPPO A91 went official in late December 2019 with ColorOS 6.1 based on Android 9.0 Pie. The handset was later updated to Android 10-based ColorOS 7. Now, the company has started recruiting beta testers for ColorOS 11 (Android 11).

As of now, the OPPO A91 ColorOS 11 Beta program is only live in Indonesia. Interested users in the country can head over to Settings > Software Update > Gear Icon > Apply for Beta Version > Update Beta Version and follow the on-screen instructions. In order to apply, their unit should be on firmware version C.51.

That said, it is worth noting that not all applicants will be getting the update. Because the firm is only allocating limited seats. However, the announcement post does say that there will be another round in the future.

Anyway, users of OPPO A91 should start receiving ColorOS 11 stable update sometime later next month. It should be the last-ever major update for this handset. After that, it may get necessary fixes and security patches for a while.

Oppo is still rolling out ColorOS 7 update to the eligible devices worldwide. This version of the company’s mobile software was first announced in November of 2019. The Chinese smartphone maker blames the COVID-19 pandemic for the delay in rolling out the update. That said, it has now shared a new ColorOS 7 July update schedule for certain models in China on Weibo.

With over 350 million active users, ColorOS is one of the most-used Android skins in the world. It is only found on Oppo smartphones and previously Realme devices as well. ColorOS 7 is the latest offering from the company apart from ColorOS 7.1 and ColorOS 7.2, both of which are exclusive to particular handsets.

Having said that, below-listed are the Oppo smartphones that will be receiving the ColorOS 7 update in China in July.

The above-mentioned handsets are also yet to receive ColorOS 7 in global markets. In fact, the Oppo R15 series is slated to get it in July in markets like India, Australia, and Europe just like China. However, the Oppo A91 is scheduled to receive the global update in August.

OPPO launched a new trio of affordable smartphones in the global market: it is composed of OPPO A52, OPPO A72, and OPPO A91. The first covers the price range below €200, the second is sold for less than €300, while for the third you need more than €300. Which one should you choose in order to get the highest value for money? Is it worth spending more for a device like the OPPO A91, you can save money as much as possible by going for the OPPO A52 or should you sit in the middle with the A72? This specs comparison will give you a complete view of the main specifications of these three phones.

OPPO A52 vs OPPO A72 vs OPPO A91

Design

Do not expect premium materials from these devices as they are made of polycarbonate, but you still get a pretty nice design with each of them. Despite it does not feature a punch-hole display (unlike the OPPO A52 and the A72) and it comes with a traditional waterdrop notch, the one I love is the OPPO A91 because it offers a higher screen-to-body ratio, a more minimalistic rear side, a thinner (and lighter) body, and an in-display fingerprint reader. OPPO A52 and A72 come with the same design, with the exception of colors. The strongest point is the punch-hole display making them more futuristic, but they are less compact and they have a bigger camera module on the back.

Display

One of the key features of the OPPO A91 is the presence of an AMOLED display offering more brilliant colors and deeper blacks, as well as an in-display fingerprint scanner. It is a smaller display compared to OPPO A52 and A72, but it has a more stunning image quality. The OPPO A52 and A72 which can be considered successors of OPPO A5 and A9 2020 both come with the same IPS panel, but unlike their predecessors, they boast a satisfying Full HD+ resolution just like the OPPO A91. Note that OPPO A52 and A72 boast stereo speakers, while OPPO A91 is mono.

Hardware/Software

Despite OPPO A52 and A72 are more affordable phones than OPPO A91, their Snapdragon 665 chipset (by Qualcomm) offers more or less the same power and performance level as the Helio P70 (by MediaTek) found on the A91. What really makes the difference is the amount of RAM: you get only 4 GB on the OPPO A52 and A72, while OPPO A91 ships with 8 GB of RAM. OPPO A52 and A72 differ for the internal storage: the former offers 64 GB, while the latter has 128 GB (just like the A91). The operating system installed is Android 10, customized by ColorOS.

Camera

OPPO A72 and A91 come with the same camera department composed of a 48 MP main sensor, an 8 MP ultrawide lens, and two additional sensors with 2 MP resolutions. They are not high-end camera phones, but they are all but disappointing. OPPO A52 is inferior due to its inferior 12 MP main sensor and 8 MP front camera (against the 16 MP front snappers of its rivals), but the secondary sensors of the rear camera setup are the same.

Battery

OPPO A52 and A72 win the battery life comparison and they are two of the best battery phones thanks to a huge 5000 mAh battery. But OPPO A91 remains a pretty nice battery phone with its 4025 mAh battery.

Price

OPPO A52 sells for €199/$217 globally, OPPO A72 is available for €279/$305, and OPPO A91 has a €329/$360 price tag. Despite the OPPO A91 is the best phone of this comparison, I do not think it is worth spending more than €300 to get it. It has a better display and (slightly) better performance, but it lacks stereo speakers and it has a smaller battery than OPPO A52 and A72. Unless you need an above-average camera setup and 128 GB of internal storage, OPPO A52 should be enough. But if you want more than just decent cameras and more storage, then go for the OPPO A72. Oppo has been updating its devices to ColorOS 7 based on Android 10 for weeks now. But it is yet to roll out updates in all the regions. Two weeks back, the Chinese smartphone maker updated some of its handsets like Reno 2, Reno Z, F11 series, and others in some global markets. Now, today, the official Twitter account of ColorOS shared update timeline for 17 smartphones sold in countries across Europe and Australia.

The upcoming Oppo F15 is all set to launch on Jan. 16. The Chinese smartphone manufacturer revealed key specifications of the device alongside a few images on Amazon India earlier this week. There were rumors that the OPPO F15 is a rebranded OPPO A91 that was unveiled in China in December 2019. A leaked image and hands-on video of a dummy unit of OPPO F15 appeared today on Indiashopps, suggesting that the rumors might indeed be true.

According to the leaked poster, the Oppo F15 flaunts a 6.4-inch AMOLED display. The smartphone draws power from a 12nm MediaTek Helio P70 SoC and is powered by a 4,025 mAh battery. The smartphone features a quad camera setup on the rear, consisting of a 48-megapixel primary camera, alongside an 8-megapixel lens, and two 2-megapixel sensors. The poster featured the message ‘Coming Soon.’

The hands-on video showcased a tri-color (white, blue and purple) gradient finish on the rear panel. The F15 flaunts a waterdrop notch with slim bezels on three sides and a slightly wider chin. The device has a USB port on the lower edge, along with a 3.5mm AUX port, and speaker.

Oppo A91 specifications and features

The Oppo F15’s specifications listed on Amazon India are the same as the Oppo A91. The Oppo A91 flaunts a 6.4-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels. The display features an aspect ratio of 20:9 and a screen-to-body-ratio of 90.7%. Additional features include a third-generation in-display fingerprint scanner, DC dimming 2.0, and eye protection mode. The Oppo F15 is powered by a 2.1GHz MediaTek Helio P70 SoC with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, expandable up to 256GB via a microSD card.

The Oppo A91 flaunts a triple-camera setup at the rear. The primary 48-megapixel camera is paired with an 8-megapixel and a 2-megapixel lens. The smartphone features a 16-megapixel sensor on the front. The device draws power from a 4,025 mAh battery with VOOC 3.0 fast charging. Connectivity options include dual SIM 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 g/b/n, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS, A-GPS, and USB Type-C. The device measures 160.2 x 73.3 x 7.9 mm and weighs 172 grams. The F15 is expected to be the successor of the Oppo F11 smartphone in India and has featured in a couple of promo videos. It bears a design that looks like that of the OPPO A91 launched in China recently. This has fuelled speculations that the device will be a renamed A91. The teaser poster project a quad-camera setup consisting of a 48MP AI main camera. Other sensors include a 119-degree ultrawide lens of 8MP, a 2MP macro lens and another 2MP sensor.

Oppo is all set to launch its next-generation Oppo F-series smartphone in the Indian market, which is dubbed as Oppo F15. The upcoming device will be the successor to the Oppo F11 smartphone in India.

The company has shared a teaser video which reveals some of the phone’s features. While the launch date is not yet confirmed by the company, it is said that the smartphone will go official in India in January 2020.

The teaser video shows that the device will come with a waterdrop-notch display and there will be a quad-camera setup on the back side. Nothing much is known about this smartphone at this point in time.

However, looking at the phone’s design, it seems quite similar to the Oppo A91 smartphone that was recently launched in China. There’s a possibility that the upcoming Oppo F15 in India could be a rebranded model of the Oppo A91.

Compared to OPPO A8, the A91 is an advanced phone as it comes with a full HD+ display, an in-screen fingerprint reader, quad rear cameras and fast charging technology.

The OPPO A91 is a 7.9mm thick device that weighs 172 grams despite housing a 4,025mAh battery. The TENAA database has couple of unreleased OPPO phones. Among them there is a PCPM00 / PCPT00 phone that is expected to arrive in the market as OPPO A91. The handset has appeared on Geekbench benchmarking platform through which some of its key details have been revealed. In addition, couple of press renders of the phone have also surfaced to tease on its design.

OPPO A91 PCPM00 Geekbench Listing

The OPPO A91 PCPM00 smartphone has scored 1479 in the single-core test and 5733 in the multi-core test. The Android 9 Pie OS runs on the device. The SoC that powers the smartphone is MediaTek MT6771V/CT that has a base frequency of 1.99 GHz. The chipset is assisted by 8 GB of RAM. The TENAA listing of the phone had revealed that is processor offers clocking speeds of 2.1GHz. Hence, it can be assumed that the Helio P70 SoC is present under the hood of the OPPO PCPM00. It is advisable to wait for further reports to know the exact processor that powers the phone.

The TENAA listing reveals that the OPPO PCPM00 has a 6.4-inch AMOLED full HD+ display which is embedded with a fingerprint reader. Rumors have it that it features the same 3.0 technology in-display fingerprint sensor that is available on the Reno2. It offers 20:9 aspect ratio. The 4,025mAh battery fuels the OPPO A91 phone. It is equipped with up to 256 GB of native storage and a microSD card slot for more storage. The phone features a front camera of 16-megapixel. The OPPO A91 renders show it features a slim design as it measures only 7.9mm in thickness. The phone features a waterdrop notch enabled display. The rear side of the phone has a gradient appeal, but it is not clear whether it features a glass rear or a glossy polycarbonate back.

The renders show cases the gradient blue and black color editions of the OPPO A91. A leaked poster that was spotted recently had revealed that it will also come in Red. A The bottom side of the phone seems to feature a 3.5mm audio jack, a microphone, a USB-C port and an external speaker. The power button is placed on the right spine whereas the volume up and down buttons can be seen on the left edge.

There is no fingerprint scanner on the rear shell of the device. The smartphone can be seen in color options like Black, Red and Blue. The key features that of the OPPO A91 include 48-megapixel quad rear cameras, 8 GB of RAM, 128 GB of storage, in-screen fingerprint reader and VOOC 3.0.

This phone seems to be the PCPM00 / PCPT00 smartphone that was approved by TENAA earlier this month. Its 6.4-inch AMOLED display supports 20:9 aspect ratio and 1080 x 2400 pixels full HD+ resolution. The 2.1GHz octa-core processor powers the smartphone with 8 GB of RAM. It has a native storage of 128 GB and there is a microSD card slot for more storage. The 48-megapixel + 8-megapixel + 2-megapixel + 2-megapixel quad camera setup is placed on the backside of the phone. It has a front camera of 16-megapixel. The device is backed by a minimum rated battery of 3,935mAh capacity.

OPPO A8 Specifications

The OPPO A8 also features a waterdrop notch screen. The rear side of the phone features a triple camera system and a fingerprint reader. Black, Red and White are three the color variants of the OPPO A8. The key features of the smartphone include AI triple rear cameras, 128 GB of storage, 6.5-inch display and 4,230mAh battery.

The OPPO PDBM00 phone that was recently certified by TENAA seems to be the OPPO A8 smartphone.  The handset features a 6.5-inch display that offers HD+ resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels. The device is powered by 2.3GHz octa-core processor and 4 GB of RAM. It has an internal storage of 128 GB and carries support for additional storage through microSD card slot.
