Oppo F5 Youth, which was teased at the Oppo F5 launch event, has now been officially launched in India. Recently, the smartphone was made available in the Philippines.

The phone’s design is almost same as the design of the original model. The key difference is the missing antenna lines on the Youth model. Other than that, everything seems identical.

The smartphone comes with a 6-inch LTPS TFT Full HD+ display with a screen resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels and 18:9 aspect ratio. The device is powered by an octa-core MediaTek MT6763T Helio P23 processor, coupled with 3GB RAM.

It packs 32GB of onboard storage which can also be expanded up to 256GB using a microSD card. Rather than a hybrid SIM card slot, the device comes with a dedicated microSD card slot.

On the photography front, the device features a 13-megapixel rear camera sensor with an f/2.2 aperture and an LED flash, along with a 16-megapixel front-facing camera with an f/2.0 aperture. In contrast, the F5 comes with a 16-megapixel rear camera sensor with f/1.8 aperture and a 20-megapixel front camera sensor with f/2.0 aperture.

Connectivity options on the Oppo F5 Youth include Dual SIM, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, A-GPS, Micro-USB with USB OTG support, and a 3.5mm audio jack. For security features, the device comes with a rear-facing fingerprint scanner.

The phone runs Android 7.1 Nougat operating system based ColorOS 3.2, which brings features like split-screen multitasking, DND gaming mode, and a Night Shield mode. It also comes with support for Facial Unlock feature.

The Oppo F5 Youth is priced at Rs. 16,990 in India and will be available for purchase from Friday, i.e. December 8. The smartphone will be available through offline as well as online stores. As of now, the company has not revealed any details related to the launch offers.

When the OPPO F5 was launched in India, a less powerful version called the OPPO F5 Youth was revealed. However, specification and pricing details were not revealed, though OPPO did say it would go on sale in December. Today, the OPPO F5 Youth has been officially launched in The Philippines.

OPPO F5 Youth Design & Specs

The F5 Youth shares nearly the same design as its sibling. The key difference is the missing antenna lines on the Youth. Other than that, they can pass for identical devices.

The  F5 Youth has a 6.0” FHD+ display just as the OPPO F5. The chipset is also the same MediaTek MT6763T. Where it differs is in the RAM and storage. You get 3GB and 32GB respectively. However, storage is expandable to 256GB via a dedicated MicroSD card slot.

Asides the RAM and storage another major difference between the F5 Youth and its sibling is the cameras. It doesn’t get the 20MP AI Beauty Selfie camera nor the 16MP rear camera. Instead you have a 16MP f/2.0 2.0um AI beauty selfie camera and a 13MP f/2.0 rear camera.

The OPPO F5 Youth has a 3200mAh battery that charges via a micro USB port. There is an audio jack, Bluetooth 4.2, dual band Wi-Fi, and dual nano SIM slots. It also has a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner in addition to Face Unlock.

The F5 Youth runs ColorOS 3.2 based on Android 7.1 which brings split-screen multitasking, DND gaming mode, and a Night Shield mode that reduces eye strain when in dark environments.

The OPPO F5 Youth is available for purchase already for PHP 13,990 (~$275). Just like the 4GB RAM OPPO F5, the F5 Youth comes in black and gold.

One week after launching the F5 in the Philippines, OPPO has launched the selfie-focused model for the Indian market. OPPO F5 will be sold exclusively on Flipkart in India online but that wouldn’t stop the model from being sold offline via the numerous brand partners OPPO has got scattered across India.

The major highlight of the F5 is the 18:9 full-screen design as well as the AI-powered beautification features coupled with a large 20MP selfie camera. As you would expect, the models launched in India is the same as that of the Philippines. But in addition to the F5, OPPO also announced the OPPO F5 Youth Edition with a similar 6-inch display and AI beautification features. The F5 Youth will be launched in India in December, but no other details of the smartphone are available at the moment.

For those not conversant with the model, the OPPO F5 features a 6.0-inch LTPS TFT display with a resolution of 2160 x 1080 (FHD+)  and an 18:9 aspect ratio. The reduced bezels and aspect ratio make the device look less bulky like the F3 Plus which it shares the same display size with. The device is powered by MediaTek’s latest Helio P23 SoC and is available in two memory variants – 4GB RAM +32GB ROM and 6GB RAM + 64GB ROM. Both versions have a dedicated MicroSD card slot for up to an additional 256GB storage.

The OPPO F5 packs a 3,200mAh battery and comes with two nano SIM slots, dual-band Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth 4.2. The device runs the new ColorOS 3.2 based on Android 7.1.2 Nougat which brings new features such as O-Share – a wireless transfer technology between OPPO devices; gaming DND; Night Shield which lets you choose between normal, warm, and black and white modes so your eyes are protected and face unlock.

OPPO F5 Price in India & Release date

As for the prices, the 4GB RAM + 32GB variant is priced at Rs. 19.990 in India and this variant will be available in a Gold and Black colours. The higher-end 6GB RAM and 64GB inbuilt storage variant will sell for Rs. 24,990 and is available in Red and Black colours. Online sales for the 4GB RAM version will start from November 9 on Flipkart while offline sales would commence shortly after. The 6GB RAM variant will only be available from December.

After a series of leaks related to Oppo‘s upcoming smartphone — Oppo F5, we now have a leaked promotional video of the device. It seems that the video is promoting the selfie camera on the phone.

The promo video of the device, which has been leaked on Instagram, features Indonesian stars Chelsea Islan and Raline Shah. They are seen talking about their perception of beauty.

At the end of the video, it shows the slogan “Capture the real you” and the date November 13, which we are assuming is the date on which the Oppo F5 will go on sale.

After seeing the phone in the video, it seems that the previous leaks related to the Oppo F5 were accurate. The smartphone is expected to come with a metal build design.

Recently, it was reported that the Oppo F5 will launch in three versions — the standard F5, F5 6GB and F5 Youth.

The Oppo F5 will come with 4GB RAM and will be available in Gold and Black colors. The Oppo F5 6GB will come with 6GB RAM + 64GB ROM, in Red and Black colors, while the Oppo F5 Youth will have a 16-megapixel front-facing camera and will come in Gold and Black color options.

Apart from these changes, all the remaining specifications are expected to be same. It will feature a 6-inch Full HD+ display with screen resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels and 18:9 aspect ratio.

There will be a 16-megapixel snapper on the back of the device, while the front will have a 20-megapixel camera, except for the F5 Youth edition. The leaked video also reveals that the Oppo F5 will come with an oval fingerprint on the back.

Apart from the promo video, the phone’s retail packaging has also been leaked. On the box, the front panel of the phone reveals thin bezels around the display. The back panel is shown in two different colors — Red and Black.

Just below the phone’s front and back panel, there is a listing of three variants of the phone — F5, F5 6GB and F5 Youth.

Oppo is hosting an event in the Philippines on October 26 to launch Oppo F5. Later, it will also be available in India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam.

While the poster does mention the different colors that the phone will be available in, we also got images of a green variant. The images seem to be that of the F5 Youth seeing as it only has one front facing camera.

This color variant may be launched later or be made available in a different market.
