After launching the OPPO Find 7 smartphone in 2014, OPPO has never released a new Find series phone. The company seems to be focused more on selling Oppo R, F and A series smartphones. The Chinese manufacturer had reportedly trademarked “OPPO Find X” moniker in the previous month. This suggests that the company could be prepping up to launch a new Find series flagship smartphone.

A recent market research has shown that the worldwide smartphone shipments have declined as the Chinese smartphone market has encountered slowdown in Q1 this year. Another report has revealed that Xiaomi has dethroned OPPO to gain the fourth largest smartphone brand in the world. In the recent past, OPPO has mainly concentrated on launching low-budget, mid-tier and upper mid-range phone. Since the company has recently trademarked the OPPO Find X name, it is being speculated that it could be working on a flagship phone.

The successor of the OPPO Find 7 was expected to debut as OPPO Find 9. The probable reason why the company may launch Find X instead of Find 9 is that it could be arriving with topnotch specs.

A leaked invitation of an upcoming OPPO event has surfaced been recently spotted on Weibo. It reveals that the event will be mainly centered on 5G connectivity and 3D structured light technology. If the OPPO Find X releases this year, it may not carry support for 5G, but is may feature 3D structured light for 3D facial recognition. In the recent past, OPPO has demonstrated its advanced technologies such as super-fast 15-minute flash charge and 5x lossless zoom. The Chinese company is has also recently filed patent for in-display fingerprint scanner. There is a possibility that the OPPO Find X may arrive with all these advanced features.

He also disclosed that OPPO will release a high-end flagship at the second half of the year.

The OPPO R9 which was launched in 2015 signalled a period of financial breakthrough for the Chinese company.The company’s marketing strategy, coupled with the fast charging technology which the R9 and R9 Plus possessed contributed to their success. This was soon replaced by the R9S and R9S Plus last year and they both continued the success story with amazing results. This may have prompted the company’s decision to halt its flagship Find-series.

We have had quite a number of leaks and rumours surrounding the Find 9 which has been on the radar since last year with rumors claiming it would be launched then. The OPPO Find 7 was launched in 2014 with topnotch specs. Since 2015, the rumor mill is speculating the arrival of its successor model, the OPPO Find 9. However, leaked photos and information of the mysterious OPPO Find 9 has been surfacing since quite some time. A new render of the alleged smartphone has surfaced to reveal its design.

The OPPO Find 9 image that has appeared on Weibo appears more like a concept model. The device can be seen sporting a curved bottom which almost appears as if it is smiling. The OPPO logo can be seen sitting on its chin. The phone does not sport curved edges on the display which suggests that it may come with super-slim bezels, but it is not difficult make out from the leaked image.

The OPPO Find 7 was a flagship phone. Since its launch in March 2014, the Chinese firm has not released a flagship smartphone as it is has concentrated more on releasing feature-rich mid-range and upper mid-range phones. This strategy has helped the company to grab the second spot in the Chinese smartphone market.

In January, the rumor mill had predicted that the OPPO Find 9 would release this year in two CPU variants of Snapdragon 835 and Snapdragon 653. The SD 653 variant is speculated to come with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage whereas the SD 835 model is rumored to feature 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage.

Reports had also stated that the Oppo Find 9 would be coming with “borderless technology” based design created by OPPO. The new render does give us a hint that the phone sports ultra-thin bezels. As far as the details of the screen are concerned, the Find 9 may feature a 5.5-inch quad HD resolution supporting display. For photography, the mythical flagship is rumored to feature a 21-megapixel rear camera and a 16-megapixel selfie camera. It may be arriving with a 4,100mAh battery.

Rumors from the start of this year have claimed that the smartphone would be unveiled in the first of the year. However, the company has been reportedly delaying its arrival. Hence, there is a possibility that the phone could get unveiled in the second of this year.

Another Chinese smartphone which took the world by storm is the ‘One’ from the company called OnePlus. You may have never heard of their name before ‘One’ became popular, but that doesn’t matter as its flagship is currently regarded as one of the best smartphones of 2014.

OnePlus One (OPO) comes with a 5.5 inch Full HD 1920 x 1080 pixel display which translates into 401 pixels per inch. Just like the Mi4, it comes with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 801 Quad Core processor clocked at 2.5 Ghz. As for the memory, you have 3GB RAM and 16GB/ 64GB internal storage options. Unfortunately, there’s no MiroSD card slot on the device so you have to be careful while choosing the storage variant.

The 13MP rear camera produces some great pictures, and the 3,100 mAh battery makes sure that the device is up and running till the end of the day.

The phone is well designed and well built like a true flagship and is available in Silk White and Sandstone Black finishes.

OPPO N3

OPPO N3 is not just a flagship smartphone, its a remarkable piece of technology. The company is quite famous in China for its well built devices and the latest flagship doesn’t disappoint at all. It comes with top of the line specifications with a beautiful and practical design.

On the front, there’s a 5.5 inch 1080p display, (we would have loved a 2K display given its expensive price tag) which means the screen is more or less like the other competitors available in the market.

Internals too are similar as it comes with a Snapdragon 801 processor clocked at 2.5 Ghz and Adreno 330 GPU along with 2GB RAM.

However, you won’t buy this phone for its internals but for the various special features that it brings to the table. For example, OPPO N3 can charge from 0% to 75% in under 30 minutes, thanks to VOOC charging. This coupled with a large 3000 battery makes sure, you don’t have to carry around a charger wherever you go.

Secondly, it does have a MicroSD card slot, which is something that’s absent from many flagships available today.

Then there’s the interesting 16MP Omnivision rotating camera that acts as the rear as well as the front shooter. So, selfie addicts could definitely use this feature for beautiful shots.

Other features include a fingerprint sensor, O-Click 2.0 Bluetooth Remote and special software features that come with Color OS 2.0.

But you get these features at a price, as OPPO N3 is the second costliest flagship that we have covered in the list.

The device is available for pre-order for $654. That’s almost $200 more than the basic version of MX4 Pro and $300 more than both OPO and Mi4.

So why would you pay this much for a Chinese phone? Well, OPPO is a well established brand, now available in a number of international markets. Chinese consumers love OPPO which is why its not surprising to see that it received more than 2 million pre-orders in the first week itself.

ZTE NUBIA Z7

The new Nubia Z7 is yet another costly flagship from a well known Chinese manufacturer. In fact, its the costliest phone that we have covered in this list.

For the $699 price tag, it does have some additional features as compared to the Oppo N3. For example, the 5.5 inch display up front features 2K resolution which means, the phone has a pixel density of over 538 PPI.

Moving on, it has an extra gig of RAM as compared to OPPO N3, but its the same as the 3GB RAM found on the earlier three flagships which were much cheaper than this.

It comes with the same processor as other competitors i.e. Snapdragon 801 with 3GB RAM and 32GB ROM. Camera too is of 13MP with OIS. There’s a 3,000 mAh battery on board which coupled with the power efficient processor should last an entire day.

Unfortunately, the device is not yet available for purchase and we’ll update the article as soon as it releases worldwide.

SUMMARY

HUAWEI HONOR 6

If you are looking for something cheap yet don’t want to settle for less than a flagship, Huawei Honor 6 is probably your best bet. The company is well known, operates in a number of international market and is known to release affordable and well built devices.

The latest Huawei Honor 6 brings all the standard features you would expect from a flagship device at a price that would only get you a mid range device, had it been an a well known international manufacturer like Samsung or Sony.

But this is Huawei we are talking about so you get an Octa Core HiSilicon Kirin processor clocked at 1.7 Ghz. You have 3GB RAM onboard along with 16/32GB internal storage option, which like the OPPO N3 can be expanded using an external MicroSD card slot.

There’s a 13MP rear camera sensor along with a 5MP front shooter, both capable of taking decent pictures.

Heating may be its biggest issue, but most smartphones these day heat up to some extent, hence we don’t feel this should stop you from buying the device.

Remember, this a 5.0 inch 1080p phone just like the Xiaomi Mi4, so if you don’t like phablets, this is a good option.

LENOVO VIBE Z2 PRO

If you like large devices and by large we mean, even bigger than 5.5 inch phablets like OPO, then you’ll like Lenovo’s VIBE Z2 PRO flagship. It features a large 6 inch 2K screen with a pixel density of 490 PPI. That’s pretty impressive given that the phone is so large that some may even called it a tablet.

The device features a brushed aluminium unibody design which gives it a unique place in the market filled with plastic competitors.

This is yet another Snapdragon 801 device and comes with 3GB RAM onboard along with 32GB internal storage.

IUNI U3 is one of the best value for money devices that you can get at the moment. The device features a metal body with very thin bezels which makes it look like a premium device.

When it comes to specifications too, the U3 shines well ahead of other competitors. Unlike some of the devices we have mentioned here, like the OPO and Honor 6, U3 comes with a 5.5 inch 2K Quad HD display. This translates into an impressive pixel density of 538 PPI.

HUAWEI ASCEND MATE 7

If you don’t like Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro’s brushed metal finish, then you can go for the new Huawei Mate 7. Its the same size as the Vibe Z2 Pro, but features only 1080p resolution as opposed to 2K on Lenovo. However, still at 390 PPI, the screen is bright and vibrant and should display and images with great clarity.

Huawei went with its own Hisilicon Kirin 925 Octa Core CPU and Mali-T628 GPU. For memory, you have two options 2GB for the 16GB internal memory version and 3GB for the 32GB version. Interestingly, the device does have a MicroSD card which supports cards up to 128GB in size.

It comes with the same Sony Exmor EX214 13Mp rear camera as seen on most other flagships in the list along with a 5MP front camera. Huawei has also made sure that the 6 inch phablet lives for more than a day as it comes with the biggest battery pack in the list, a 4,100 mAh.

However, for the larger battery and the bigger screen, you have to pay around $100 extra than other competitors. You can purchase the device directly from Oppomart for $499.

Vivo XShot

If you plan to replace your smartphone as your everyday camera, then the new Vivo XShot looks like a good option.

It comes with a 13MP f/1.8 aperture camera with OIS which takes great pictures. The dual tone dual LED flash also makes sure that the color reproduction is also accurate. The front camera too isn’t shabby and at 8MP you can get some great self portraits with it.

Inside, you have a Snapdragon 801 SoC with processor clocked at 2.5Ghz and 3GB RAM on the flagship version but only 2GB on the elite version.

On the front, you have a 5.2 inch screen with 1080p resolution. The battery pack is of 2,600 mAh which should be enough to last for a day with this relatively small screen.

Although its been a while since OPPO announced the Find 7, its still one of the best devices in the market. The device comes with the OPPO brand name, which is of value especially in China due to its great build quality and innovative features. It also comes with the fast charging VOOC feature which can charge the phone 4 times faster than other competitors. With this technology, you get 75% charge from 0% in under 30 minutes.

The other specifications are pretty much what you expect from a top end device. You get a 5.5 inch 2K screen, a 2.5Ghz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 Soc with 3GB RAM, Sony Exmor214 13MP rear camera and 3,000 mAh battery which is removable.

So, if you are looking for a well built device from the OPPO family, the Find 7 will suit you well.

ZOPO 3X

We have seen 11 top chinese phones of 2014 till now and we would like to end it with the cheapest device of the list, the ZOPO 3X. Its the mini version of the flagship, ZOPO ZP999, but don’t be deceived by the name as only the internal storage is smaller and all the rest of the goodies found on the top end flagship makes it to this device.

Surprisingly, it is the first Mediatek Powered handset that is on the list as most others have the Snapdragon 801 SoC onboard. It comes with a  MediaTek MT6595 octa-core processor clocked at 2.2Ghz along with 3GB RAM and 16GB internal storage. The phone has a memory card slot too, so the low inbuilt storage won’t be a big issue.

On the front, you get a 5.5 inch Full HD screen while on the back lies a 14MP f/2.0 aperture camera. You have a large 2,700 mAh battery too, which should be more than enough for a whole day’s usage.

The best thing about the ZOPO 3X is its pricetag. It is currently available for $299 on Oppomart which is a great price for a device with such specifications. You also get some free goodies like the official leather case and screen protector, which should save you some after purchase cost.

Samsung has launched their Galaxy Note 4 at IFA 2014, Berlin and during their press conference Samsung announced that the Galaxy Note has a fast charging system which allows it to get charged from 0% to 50% in just 30 minutes.

Samsung seemed to be quite confident while boosting about their fast charging feature until they got a tweet from OPPO. It seems that OPPO is not that impressed by this technology as they have a better technology than this one. The tweet from OPPO came soon after Samsung’s press conference ended.

OPPO’s tweet mentioned that their Find7 can be charged from 0% to 75% in 30 minutes. Maybe this is what we call rapid charging. It seems that OPPO has a better rapid charging technology than Samsung and they are all up to boost about it.

Chinese mobile phone manufacturer, OPPO, first made its presence felt in the Indian market in early 2014. It roped in bollywood stars Hrithik Roshan and Sonam Kapoor to make a stronger connection with the Indian public. It currently has nearly 10 handsets available in the Indian market, namely, OPPO N1, OPPO R1, OPPO Find 5 Mini, OPPO Neo, OPPO Yoyo and OPPO Joy.

It has now decided to sell its latest offering, OPPO Find 7, on the e-commerce site Flipkart. The company confirmed that its entire range would be available exclusively on Flipkart from 26^th August. This move was taken to increase its digital presence as an increasing number of consumers are now taking to online shopping. Now that there is an actual competitive market for QHD smartphone screens that are available to the public, it is high time that we took a look at the best of the best. Today I’ll be comparing two different sets; the Oppo Find 7 and the Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro. Both of these devices provide an IPS QHD display with a resolution of 2560 x 1440.The Lenovo Vibe Z2 has a lower pixel density than the Oppo Find 7; which is due to the difference in screen size. The Vibe Z2 has a 6 inch display, while the Find 7 has a slightly smaller screen, at 5.5 inches. Obviously the latter will have somewhat better screen resolution. Along with its’ larger screen, the Vibe Z2 is also equipped with a larger battery; 4000mAh compared to the Find 7’s 3000mAh unit. Both handsets have a lot of followers who swear by them; neither is likely to disappoint consumers.

Processor and Memory

When it comes to processors and memory capabilities; these two devices are nearly identical. Both of these smartphones are equipped with a quad-core 2.5GHz 801 (Oppo first featured this processor in their Flagship, Lenovo followed suit with their K920 model). Storage

In the end, obviously it all comes down to features and affordability. For those with abnormally high storage capacity requirements for their devices, the Oppo Find 7 is probably the best choice. If you’re more concerned about having the largest display possible, the Lenovo Vibe Z2 is probably the better choice between the two devices. It is in my opinion, the more attractive of the two models as well. It is an exciting time for the smartphone lover, there are plenty of great phones out there at the minute to splash the cash on, and so to help you decide what the best great phone is for you, here are the 3 most exalted flagships of the year compared for you.

PERFORMANCE

All three phones share the same basic performance as far as hardware is concerned. There is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset, a quad-core 2500 MHz Krait 400 processor, Adreno 330 graphics behind each of them, making them really very similar devices. There is the same amount of RAM (3GB) present in each also, but the ROM shows some significant differences; with the OnePlus One having 16GB, the Find 7 and the Z7 having 32GB.

The pixel counts are 401 PPI for the OnePlus One, 534 PPI for the Nubia Z7 and 538 PPI for the Find 7. This is a pretty big difference, and if display is an important feature then it makes sense to bypass the OnePlus One and choose one of the others instead. The cameras are equally capable across all three models, 13MP rear and 5MP front, with all three capable of producing some top quality pictures.

OPERATING SYSTEM AND USER INTERFACE

The OnePlus One runs Android 4.4 with CyanogenMod 11s, the Find 7 runs Android 4.3 with Color OS and the Z7 runs Android 4.4 with Nubia 2.0. It depends on your preferred language which is best here, as the CyanogenMod is for native English speakers, whereas the other two are in Chinese. It is easy enough to put CyanogenMod over the other UIs but it is worth comparing these as they are sold. If you require English, then go for the CyanogenMod UI, it is a no-brainer. If you prefer your phone in Chinese, however, you have options. Color OS is considered the better of the two Chinese UIs, so the Find 7 takes the lead if you want a Chinese interface, even though it is based on the Android 4.3 instead of 4.4.

VERDICT

So, after all this, what’s the bottom line? Well there’s really not much between the phones, the overall performance winner is probably the Find 7, it matches the best in every category, the Nubia Z7, is arguably second, let down only by the benchmark score. The OnePlus One is in third place everywhere there is a difference except for the benchmarks where it scores incredibly well. This is of course, before we factor in the price –  and this is a pretty game-changing consideration. the OnePlus is almost holding its own here with the specs, made of the same stuff and a true flagship killer according to the benchmarks. The OnePlus is also half the price of the Find 7, saving you $300, and it is $250 less than the Nubia Z7. The question is, then, would you pay $300 for a better display and double the ROM? If yes, then choose the Find 7 or the Nubia Z7, if you aren’t actually that bothered and can think of something else to spend $300 on, go for the OnePlus One.

In recent years, the development of battery technology did not keep up with the pace of improved mobile performance. Bio-batteries that fuel these products are still currently in the research state. Currently, they still rely on increased cell volume to increase the battery’s capacity.

However, the battery capacity increases brought about the increase in charging time becoming longer. If the charging current is 1A, then the charging time is 2.5Ah/1A = 2.5h, which is 2.5 hours. In fact, because the output of the charger is often less than the nominal value and the final process factors such as trickle charging, charging time takes longer than the theoretical time states.

Qualcomm Quick Charge (referred to as QC)

In order to improve the charging speed, Qualcomm launched its QC1.0 technology to meet the Qualcomm chipsets and with a specific core premise of the largest mobile phone can accept a 5V 2A input, so that the charging speed is greatly improved.

Followed by the launch of QC2.0 technology, Xiaolong 800 helped to improve the CPU time and with the appropriate power management chip, phones can accept a maximum input of 12V 2A. By increasing the output power, it helps to increase the charge rate. However, the high-pass technique does not give details on how to control the temperature and the battery life.

Qualcomm test machine battery is 3300mAh. Normal charge that is used is a 5V 1A input. QC1.0 uses a 5V 2A input and QC 2.0 uses a 9V 2A input.

So far, although there have been numerous phone hardware models supporting Qualcomm’s QC2.0 technology, including the HTC One (M8), 3 Unicom version of millet, etc., the charger side cannot support QC2.0 charger. While Qualcomm QC has had excellent performance in the engineering prototype, on the practical application side, due to the lack of matching charger it is not strong enough to do well in the market.

OPPO flashing technology

There is another company in the quick charge technology business that is out of the practical first step. The high-pass type, Oppo used its technology to increase the charging current, which also helped to the increase the charging power. Thus, this also increases the charge rate of the battery. Qualcomm’s technology is a combination of Oppo technology, but is self developed.

Oppo flash technology (through extra battery contacts for charging batteries in parallel) can be understood as a simple point. Typically, it flashes while the battery is charging which reduces the battery charge in a current single block. It has been designed to extend the battery’s life. Thanks to Oppo’s good relations with upstream manufacturers, the battery and the charger are individually customized, so that the battery can withstand relatively large current inputs.

Judging from the appearance, Oppo has made improvements to increase the charging port for charging and for battery contacts. The PR manager of Oppo has confirmed some of the details of the technical aspects of their technology.

After completing some battery tests, thanks to this new technology, we find that the battery’s heat levels, during the charging process, is in a controllable and appropriate range.

At room temperature, at approximately 25 degrees in the environment, it will act normal. It will flash red during the maximum temperature if it exceeds 35 degrees, a temperature slightly higher than that of ordinary batteries. However, in the hot and humid southern summers, the temperature of the battery is still a cause for concern. If the thermal environment is not very good and with the high temperature of the battery, the battery’s life will still be impacted.

Furthermore, since the output power is relatively large, the charger is not as graceful looking as any other brand charger is. It currently is close to the size of a portable wireless router. In order to charge to necessary speed and volume it is understandable. After all, there is no charger technology that can reduce the volume.

Summary

In the category of quick charge, Qualcomm have already set the standard for mobile phone products that have hardware support, but did not push for QC2.0 support parts from manufacturers for its long term large-scale practical stance.

Compared to Qualcomm, Oppo already have practical products and have successfully extended it to a certain extent on energy. We hope that this innovation can help improve battery life around the whole world.

By the end of the month, three flagship Android phones from Chinese manufacturers will be on the market. Each boasts different state-of-the-art features, with the camera as a major focus for the Vivo Xshot and the Oppo Find 7. OnePlus put a lot into their camera as well, but the new upstart manufacturer decided to focus more on price as a selling feature.

Vivo Xshot was revealed earlier in a major event at the Water Cube, and will be available soon. Oppo Find 7 is taking pre-orders to be shipped on May 29^th, and OnePlus One will be available in the 64GB Blackstone version in late may. For simplicity of comparison we will only be looking at higher-end version of each device.

Chipset, RAM and OS/UI

Oppo Find 7 and Vivo Xshot both use the Qualcomm 801 Snapdragon MSM8974AC chipset, OnePlus One features the higher-end Snapdragon Krait 400 CPU, and all three are quad-core and clock in at 2.5 GHz. Oppo uses their popular ColorOS 1.2 UI on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, OnePlus uses the Android 4.4 KitKat-based CyanogenMod 11S, and Vivo uses their own Funtouch OS UI also running KitKat.

OnePlus and Vivo have similar 1080×1920 pixel 1080p resolutions. The Vivo Xshot has a 5.2 inch screen, white Oppo and OnePlus feature 5.5 inch screens. One of Oppo’s strongest selling features is its cutting-edge resolution with a staggering 1440×2560 pixel screen providing 538ppi pixel density.

The camera is a focal point of the Vivo Xshot, it is larger than usual and extends past the body of the phone. Vivo had previously hinted to a 24 MP camera, but will be released with the Sony 13MP IMX214 camera featuring the world’s first f/1.8 6p lens and optimal image stabilization. The camera is capable of 4k recording, has dual LED flash and a unique two-stage shutter. OnePlus One also uses the Sony 13MP IMX214 camera featuring a f/2.0 lens and dual LED flash. Oppo had suggested the Find 7 would be able to take 50 MP photos, this is still somewhat true, though the camera itself is the same Sony IMX214 used by Vivo and OnePlus. 50 MP photos are created by using Oppo’s “Super Zoom” feature which rapidly snaps 10 photos and creates a photo that is technically equivalent to a 50 MP photo. Oppo also claims that users can capture video not only in 1080p, but also in 120 fps slow-motion at 720p.

The Vivo Xshot has a permanent battery which is the weakest of the three at 2,600 mAh. OnePlus also has a permanent 3,100 mAh battery. Oppo has made innovations to their removable 3,000 mAh battery, it features VOOC tech that allows the phone to charge from dead to 75% in just half an hour, miles faster than its average competitor. The phones are evenly matched in connectivity all offering 4G LTE, WiFi and GPS. The Xshot has 32GB storage, and the Oppo comes with 16GB, both are expandable. OnePlus has 16GB and 64GB models, though it’s likely that 16GB versions will be hard to come by.

Here is where OnePlus really shines. Their top end 64GB smartphone costs a meager $350, which is amazing considering its top-end features. The Oppo Find 7 will cost around $565 and the Vivo Xshot is asking $580.

The Oppo Find 7 has a lot going for it, namely its vibrant screen, high-tech camera features, and fast charging removable battery. For a person constantly on the go, the rapid charge feature will be extremely useful. It is a cutting-edge phone with a high-end price. For someone who likes to save money and wants an amazing smartphone, the OnePlus is One is an obvious choice. The Vivo Xshot is a powerful phone, but doesn’t stand out beside these two phones, it also has a weaker permanent battery.

It has 2.3 Ghz quad-core variant processor called Snapdragon 802. Internal Memory is 16 GB, which you can extend through SD Card. RAM is about 2 GB. Everything else is similar to its variant Find 7.

The OPPO Find 7 is the real offer. It has 2K display with resolution of 2560×1440 in 5.5 inch color display. Which makes pixel density of 538 ppi. Which is probably the highest in mobile phones. RAM is increased 1 GB from its cousin version Find 7a which sports 2 GB RAM.
