As announced before, OPPO has started rolling out the ColorOS 12 update based on Android 12 for the OPPO Reno3 Pro 5G, the Reno3 Vitality Edition, the OPPO K7, and the OPPO Find X3 Pro Photographer Edition smartphones in China.

OPPO commenced the ColorOS 12 beta program for these devices in late February, and the devices are now beginning to receive stable Android 12 updates about a month later.

According to the official announcement post on OPPO Community China, the update is live for the following models,

• OPPO Find X3 Pro Photographer Edition
• OPPO Reno3 Pro 5G
• OPPO Reno3 Vitality Edition
• OPPO K7

In order to receive the update, users should be running firmware version C.13 on the Reno3 Vitality Edition, and the K7. The Reno3 Pro 5G should be on firmware version C.15 or above and as for the Find X3 Pro Photographer Edition, the devices need to be at least on the basic version A.14 and A.15.

To download and install the update, they need to navigate to Settings > Software Update > Gear Icon > Upgrade Early Adopters > Official Version Application > Agree to Privacy Policy > Apply Now > Check for Updates.

The above procedure is only for those who want to try the update right away. The update will be made available for everyone via regular OTA from Settings > Software Update in the coming days if these early adopters don’t face any major issues.

OPPO has begun to recruit ColorOS 12 beta testers for a new batch of devices. The company has kicked off the program for five new smartphones. Out of these, one of them is a flagship model sold exclusively in China. Whereas, two of them were released exclusively in India and the remaining two are the rebranded versions of the previous two phones for Indonesia.

The OPPO Find X3 Pro Photographer Edition is the latest high-end smartphone from OPPO to get access to the Android 12-based ColorOS 12 beta. The registrations for this handset started on February 22 and it will remain open until 3 PM CST on February 24.

On the other hand, the ColorOS 12 beta registrations for OPPO F17 Pro, OPPO F19 Pro, OPPO Reno4 F, and OPPO Reno5 F also kickstarted on the same day. However, the company is only recruiting 2,500 testers for each device.

Interested users on the required firmware can enroll in the ColorOS 12 beta initiative by navigating to Settings > Software Update > Gear Icon > Apply for Beta Version > Update Beta Version and following the on-screen instructions. Selected applicants will receive the beta software via OTA, while others can try their luck during the next batch of recruitment.

As far as stable release is concerned, OPPO is yet to reveal details. Nevertheless, going by the rollout so far, it will most likely happen in a month or two.

BBK subsidiary OPPO, Thursday, held a launch event in China where it unveiled the latest Android fork, the ColorOS 12. The company also unveiled several other products. One of the products is the Find X3 Pro Photographer Edition, a highly anticipated model. Also unveiled is the OPPO Watch 2 ECG Edition.

The Find X3 Pro Photographer Edition is an upgraded version of the Find X3 Pro which itself is a power premium smartphone that has courted rave reviews since OPPO unveiled it earlier this year. The major difference in the Photographer Edition is the leather and metallic glass finish which the rear aspect adopts. The metallic part consists of an electroplated silver paint surface and uses the fog AG process which gives it a metal texture. The lower part then features a rough-grained leather, allowing for a firm grip.

Although the Find X3 Pro Photo Edition is said to be a collaborative effort between OPPO and Kodak, there is no improvement in the camera design or configuration. The device packs a triple camera setup made up of a 50MP ultra-wide Sony IMX766 sensor, a 13MP periscope camera with f/2.4 aperture, 5x hybrid zoom, 20x digital zoom, and a 3MP microlens with f/3.0 aperture. The front camera also retains the 13MP selfie shooter. This is the same setup on the Find X3 Pro.

The camera also comes with 14 different city filters which change as a result of the geographic location. It supports long-exposure shooting, and the camera provides a super RAW format shooting. In terms of video recording, the movie mode supports Log format shooting. Combined with 10bit color, it can fully retain the dynamic range of the picture and provide sufficient post-production space. In addition, video shooting also supports 4K HDR high-definition recording.

The Find X3 Pro Photography Edition is powered by a Snapdragon 888 paired with a whopping 16GB RAM. There is also 512GB storage onboard with one year free 1TB cloud membership. The device retains support for IP68 waterproof and dustproof ratings. Another unique feature is the spectacular retail box which it comes with.

OPPO Find X3 Pro Photography Edition is priced at 6,499 yuan (~$1006).  It comes in Silver with Black color and is already on pre-order. The product will go on sale in China from September 22.
