Oppo was the first non-Google OEM to begin the Android 14 public beta program in August. Since then, the company has been adding new devices to the initiative every other week.

Today, the brand’s 2021 flagship smartphone Oppo Find X3 Pro joins the program. Interested users of this phone in China can enroll themselves to try out the latest version of Android before the general public.

Android 14 is the third major software update for the Oppo Find X3 Pro. The device will most likely not receive any more Android update going forward.

That’s because the new 4 Android update policy only covers flagship smartphones that were released in 2023. Anyway, the phone will receive its final major software update quickly as beta builds are already ready.

As mentioned earlier, the Android 14 beta program for Oppo Find X3 Pro is currently limited to China, just like other devices. But a similar program for global markets should begin shortly.

Oppo’s take on Android 14 is expected to be called ColorOS 14. However, the company is not using this name so far.

As of now, not much is known about the new features of Oppo’s next-gen mobile software. The brand should tease the features once we near the official announcement day, the date for which is yet to be revealed.

Last week, Oppo began to roll out the Android 13-based ColorOS 13 stable update for the Oppo Find X5 series. A few days after that, the company has now started ColorOS 13 open beta program for the Oppo Find X3 series and the OnePlus 9 series.

These devices were part of the alpha program for a while in China. However, the open beta initiative is live globally.

If you happen to own the Chinese variant of any of the aforementioned phones, we are sorry to say that the registrations for the open beta initiative ended on September 16. At the moment, we do not know if there will be a second round of recruitment.

On the other hand, users of the Southeast Asian variant of Oppo Find X3 Pro need not worry. Because the registrations for this variant started only yesterday (September 19) and will remain open until September 26. But since the company has only allocated 5000 seats, we would urge you to enroll as soon as possible.

As far as the stable release is concerned, we expect that to roll out a month or two away from now. Oppo may disclose the exact release date in one of its next two monthly update rollout schedules.

The Samsung Galaxy S22 series was officially launched two weeks ago, and it seems like the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra is the highlight of the series this year with its inclusion of the S-Pen from the Note series, its industry-leading LTPO AMOLED display, and the company’s latest and greatest camera setup yet in a smartphone. In fact, demand is so high that pre-orders now go as far back as April for customers to collect their Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra.

However, before you drop over 1000 Euros(or over 1000 USD/1 lakh) on the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, DxOMark just released its latest camera review of the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra and the device only managed to score 131 points, the same as last year’s Oppo Find X3 Pro.

Let’s start with the pros. DxOMark mentions that the photos from the S22 Ultra have a pleasant white balance and colours in all conditions. The device also keeps good exposure in most scenes with its wide dynamic range. For portrait, photos out of the S22 Ultra achieve a natural simulated bokeh effect with its near-accurate corner detection.

As for zoom, the S22 Ultra was Samsung’s greatest leap in smartphone zoom photography. It was able to preserve the nice colours and exposure at all zoom settings. Video performance is as expected in the flagship segment with its fast and smooth autofocus, good video stabilisation when walking while recording, good exposure and wide dynamic range in bright light and indoor video.

As for the camera’s shortcomings, the S22 Ultra has comparatively slow autofocus for photos in many lighting conditions, one where the Oppo Find X3 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max do better than the S22 Ultra. DxOMark also pointed out that another lacklustre area of the S22 Ultra’s camera is its inconsistent sharpness between video frames when the camera is moving while recording, especially in low light.

Do take note the model tested by DxOMark is the Exynos 2200 model that is only available in Europe and the UK. So if you’re from the US, Canada, Middle East, India or other Asian regions, you will be getting the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset instead. DxOMark did reply that they will be also be testing out the Snapdragon variant of the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra this year as well, and they will be publishing the review once they have received the device from overseas. 

This practice also serves as a great comparison of the camera performance between the Exynos and Snapdragon variants of the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra. This is because although both variants share the same camera sensors front and back, both the chipsets have different ISPs which may have different imaging algorithms and computational photography software. In turn, the identical sensors churn out two different photos due to the different Exynos and Snapdragon processors under the hood.

Earlier this week, OPPO started rolling out Android 12-based ColorOS 12 stable for the OPPO Find X3 Pro in Southeast Asia. As scheduled, the update is now available for the entire original OPPO Find X3 lineup and the OnePlus 9 series in China.

OPPO confirmed to roll out ColoroOS 12 stable for the first batch of devices in China on November 25. We thought the rollout would begin in the morning itself. But that did not happen.

Instead, the brand started seeding the fresh system update after the launch of the OPPO Reno7 series in the evening. The update is being rolled out to the following devices running the mentioned firmware version.

• OPPO Find X3 Pro Mars Explorer Edition – A.28 or A.29
• OPPO Find X3 Pro – A.28 or A.29
• OPPO Find X3 – A.30
• OnePlus 9 Pro – A.12
• OnePlus 9 – A.12

In order to install the Android 12 update, the users of the above-listed smartphones in China have to navigate to Settings > Software Update >  Gear Icon > Update Early Access > Official Version Application > Agree to Privacy Agreement > Apply Now.

Like any other OTA software update, ColorOS 12 stable for these handsets is also being rolled out in batches. Therefore, some users may get it sooner, while others may have to wait a bit longer.

The OPPO Find X3 Pro was the first device to receive ColorOS 12 beta in international markets. A little over a month later, the smartphone now gets access to the stable release. The latest software update is currently available in three regions.

According to an official announcement post on OPPO Community, ‘ColorOS 12 Official Version’ (aka stable update) is now ready for the OPPO Find X3 Pro in the following markets.

• Malaysia
• Thailand
• Indonesia

Interested users will have to register in order to receive the fresh system update before the general public. To do so, applicants should be on firmware version A.26, head over to Settings > Software Updates > Gear Icon > Trial Version, and follow the on-screen instructions.

The first-ever ColorOS 12 stable build for OPPO Find X3 Pro in the above-listed regions arrives with firmware version CPH2173_11.C.33.

Since Android 12 is out for only a few weeks, OPPO warns of compatibility issues with certain applications. In fact, the company’s own HeyTap Health app is still not compatible with ColorOS 12. Hence, users will not be able to use their OPPO wearable devices. However, the firm promises to fix this issue by the end of November.

Lastly, like any other OTA system update, this one will be also available for all users without needing any registration in the coming days.

Ahead of the ColorOS 12 announcement in mid-September, OPPO kickstarted an early access program for its flagship smartphones, namely OPPO Find X3, OPPO Find X3 Pro, OnePlus 9, and OnePlus 9 Pro. A few weeks later, these phones got access to public beta builds in early October. Now, a little over a month later, the company is recruiting even more testers before the stable release.

According to the ColorOS Assistant Weibo account, OPPO has once again opened ColorOS 12 public beta registrations for its premium smartphones in China yesterday. The registrations will close at 12 PM today (November 12).

In order to enroll, users should be on the following firmware versions.

• OPPO Find X3 Pro Mars Explorer Edition – A.28
• OPPO Find X3 Pro – A.28
• OPPO Find X3 – A.30
• OnePlus 9 Pro – A.12
• OnePlus 9 – A.12

To register, interested users have to navigate to Settings > Software update > Gear icon > Upgrade Early Access > Upgrade Public Beta. Selected applicants will receive the beta software build via OTA within 3 days.

As per the schedule shared by the company a few days back, these handsets will get access to the stable update on November 25. Hence, users need not wait longer to experience new ColorOS features and Android 12.

Anyway, like any other software update, this one will be also rolled out in batches. Therefore, the rollout will most likely continue till at least mid-December.

OPPO last year made a slight tweak to the way the ColorOS version numbers go – they are now in sync with the Android version. As such, the latest iteration of the software skin is called ColorOS 12 since it’s layered atop Android 12. The update brings along a slew of UI changes and some new features. It was undergoing testing for the past few months but will soon start going stable according to the fresh November 2021 Roll-out Plan.

The ColorOS 12 November rollout plan reveals that the OPPO Find X3 Pro will be the very first to bag the update in the stable branch. The release will commence mid-November in Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand and will be done on a batch-by-batch basis.

Next in line will be the OPPO Find X2 Pro that will start receiving ColorOS 12 from November 17 onwards in India and Indonesia. The phone is joined by the Find X2 Pro Automobili Lamborghini Edition in India and the Find X2 in India and Indonesia. But unlike the Find X3 Pro, these models will get beta and not stable as of yet.

The Reno6 series will be the next to bag ColorOS 12 beta. The Reno6 Pro 5G and Reno6 Pro 5G Diwali Edition will be getting the update from November 22 onwards. As for the Indonesian and Saudi Arabian versions of the Reno6 Pro 5G, they will be treated to the same from November 25 onwards.

Last in line is the vanilla OPPO Reno6 5G that will be receiving ColorOS 12 based on Android 12 in India from November 26.

Do note that the above rollout plan is not applicable to carrier-locked models since the updates for such are determined by the carriers themselves.

As we have now entered the said month, the firm has already opened as well as closed registrations for the first batch in China.

According to the official Weibo account of ColorOS, the registrations for the first batch of ColorOS 12 Public Beta update for the OPPO Find X3 series and the OnePlus 9 series went live in China yesterday at 11 AM (local time). The registrations have already closed exactly 24 hours later earlier today.

The OPPO Find X3 Pro has all the most advanced technologies: LTPO for adaptive refresh rate up to 120 Hz, HDR10+ certification, BT.2020 standard, one billion colors, and even a Quad HD+ resolution. The iPhone 13 Pro Max offers HDR10 and a 120 Hz refresh rate, as well as Dolby Vision support. Despite it may look inferior on the paper, its image quality is so amazing that DisplayMate gave it the Best Display Award. iPhone 13 Pro Max has an OLED panel but, unlike the Find X3 Pro, it does not have a fingerprint reader: it relies on 3D facial recognition for authentication.

Specs & Software

Thanks to the iOS operating system which is optimized better and thanks to a superior processor (the Apple A15 Bionic built at 5 nm with a max frequency of 3.22 GHz), the iPhone 13 Pro Max is able to achieve better performance, even though it has only a half of the RAM of the Find X3 Pro by OPPO. However, both of these devices are flagships able to execute every task with blazing speeds and great stability, so you would not notice a big difference between them. Note that OPPO Find X3 Pro only comes with 256 GB of internal storage, while you can get up to 1 TB of native storage with the iPhone 13 Pro Max.

Camera

Each of these handsets has its pro and cons when it comes to the cameras. The OPPO Find X3 Pro can achieve a better photo quality in various scenarios, such as ultrawide shots and macro, thanks to its microscope sensor sporting 60x magnification (30x optical magnification). The iPhone 13 Pro Max is able to record better videos and amazing normal photos. Further, it has a 3D LiDAR scanner for AR appliances.

The battery of the iPhone 13 Pro Max is slightly smaller if compared to the OPPO Find X3 Pro, but it still provides a longer battery life due to the better optimization of iOS. The Find X3 Pro wins when it comes to charging speeds as it features 65W fast wired charging and 30W wireless charging. But the Apple flagship has MagSafe which allows for a more comfortable wireless charging experience and it also allows to connect interesting external accessories such as wallets and battery packs.

Price

In the European market, the iPhone 13 Pro Max carries a starting price of about €1200, while it costs $1100 in the U.S. The OPPO Find X3 Pro was launched in Europe with a listing price of €1149/$1130, but currently, it is easy to find it for less than €1000 and sometimes even for less than €900/$1044. It is not possible to choose a winner of this comparison that is valid for everyone, but overall, the iPhone 13 Pro Max has some more pros, such as its build quality, and battery life.

OPPO will be unveiling ColorOS 12 based on Android 12 tomorrow (September 16). Ahead of that, the company has announced an ‘Early Access’ program for three smartphones. In fact, the firm has already started recruiting testers.

According to the official Weibo account of ColorOS, OPPO and OnePlus have opened registrations for ColorOS 12 Early Access initiative in China. Anyone with an OPPO Find X3 Pro, a OnePlus 9, or a OnePlus 9 Pro can enroll in the program.

In order to participate, the Find X3 Pro should be on firmware version A.27, while the OnePlus 9 series requires firmware version A.10. Registrations have started at 11 AM (local time) today and will close by 12 AM tonight.

You can find detailed instructions on how to apply from dedicated announcement posts by OPPO and OnePlus respectively. Applicants who get selected will start receiving the ColorOS 12 Early Access builds from tomorrow in batches.

ColorOS 12 is rumored to be the best-ever version of OPPO’s mobile operating system to date. The Android 12-based software is codenamed ‘Da Vinci’ and it is said to be inspired by MIUI, Flyme, and HydrogenOS. One of its key features will be Cross Screen Interconnection.

Having said that, as we are only a few hours away from the announcement, we don’t have to wait much longer to learn everything about ColorOS 12.

OPPO will be holding a launch event at 6 PM (local time) on Sept. 16 in China. The company will be unleashing the all-new ColorOS 12 through the upcoming event. It is also expected to announce two new smartphones such as the OPPO K9 Pro and OPPO Find X3 Pro Photographer Edition. Today, the company rolled out a poster to confirm the arrival of the new variant of the Find X3 Pro.

The poster reveals that the OPPO Find X3 Pro Photographer Edition will be sporting an attractive dual-tone design. While the upper portion of the phone’s back has a metallic appeal, the remaining part is made from leather. It is said to be a limited edition and is will arrive in a special box in China.

A leaked photo of the OPPO Find X3 Pro Photographer Edition revealed that its model number is PEEM00, which is very same as the original Find X3 Pro. It is unclear whether the device will be heading to other markets outside China.

Reports have revealed that OPPO and Kodak have worked together for the Find X3 Pro Photographer Edition. The device is expected to feature a pair of 50-megapixel cameras, which are also available on the regular Find X3 Pro.

The Find X3 Pro has a 6.7-inch LTPO AMOLED QHD+ 120Hz display, Snapdragon 888 chipset, up to 16 GB of RAM, up to 512 GB of storage, and a 4,500mAh battery that supports 65W fast charging and 30W wireless charging. It has a front camera of 32-megapixel, and its rear camera setup has a 50-megapixel main camera with OIS, a 50-megapixel ultrawide camera, a 13-megapixel telephoto camera with 2x optical zoom, and a 3-megapixel microscope lens.

OPPO launched the OPPO Find X3 series in March. The lineup includes two devices in China, namely OPPO Find X3 and OPPO Find X3 Pro. Both these phones are heavily discounted in the brand’s home country for a limited time.

OPPO is currently holding its annual O Fan Festival in China. As part of it, the company is offering a ¥500 ($77) discount on the OPPO Find X3 series. This offer is valid from yesterday (August 1) till midnight tonight (August 2). 

Hence, people in China can get their hands on the OPPO Find X3 and the OPPO Find X3 Pro for the following price tags.

Unfortunately, OPPO is not known for running a similar promotion outside China. As a result, we don’t get to see such steep discounts on newly released OPPO smartphones in international markets.

Display

The OnePlus 9 Pro and the OPPO Find X3 Pro share exactly the same display. It is an AMOLED panel with the LTPO technology providing an adaptive refresh rate up to 120 Hz. It has the HDR10+ certification, it shows up one billion colors thanks to a real 10-bit color depth and it comes with a high Quad HD+ resolution. Both the phones come with an optical in-display fingerprint reader and a diagonal of 6.7 inches.

Not only the same display: OnePlus 9 Pro and OPPO Find X3 Pro also share the same chipset: we are referring to the Snapdragon 888 mobile platform which is actually the most advanced SoC by Qualcomm. The Find X3 Pro only comes in a memory configuration with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of UFS 3.1 native storage, while with the OnePlus 9 Pro, you can get a more affordable configuration with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. Still, the OnePlus 9 Pro can be bought in the 12/256 GB version. Both the OnePlus 9 Pro and the OPPO Find X3 Pro run ColorOS 11 based on Android 11 in China, but in the European market, the OnePlus 9 Pro runs OxygenOS 11 out of the box. OnePlus recently switched to ColorOS 11 for the Chinese market for all of its new devices.

Camera

While the OnePlus 9 Pro offers a better telephoto sensor with a 3.3x optical zoom, OPPO Find X3 Pro is better in all the rest of its camera department. First of all, it has a better main camera: a Sony IMX766 sensor with a 50 MP resolution. The same sensor is used for the ultrawide camera. The OnePlus 9 Pro has that sensor only for ultrawide shots, while the main camera is a 48 MP sensor. The OPPO Find X3 Pro offers an additional microscope camera with 30x optical magnification and 60x hybrid magnification (instead of the useless 2 MP macro camera of the OP9 Pro), as well as a better front camera.

Battery

OnePlus 9 Pro and OPPO Find X3 Pro have the same battery capacity: 4500 mAh. The displays and the processors are the same as well, that is why their battery life is similar. The OnePlus 9 Pro offers a faster wireless charging technology with a power of 50W, while the OPPO Find X3 Pro supports reverse wireless charging.

Price

OnePlus 9 Pro has a starting price of €919/$1097 globally, while OPPO Find X3 Pro costs €1149/$1370. The OPPO Find X3 Pro is definitely a better phone and wins this comparison, but the OnePlus 9 Pro has not much to envy compared to its costlier sibling.

The Oppo Find X3 Pro has just passed through DxoMark’s camera rating. The device scored 131 points in the testing tying with the Vivo X50 Pro+, with its ultra wide angle and short telephoto lens receiving praises in particular.

As per the DxOMark report, the Find X3 Pro is the Chinese tech giant’s 2021 flagship smartphone model that offers a quad camera setup on the rear. The primary lens is a 50 megapixel sensor, paired with another 50 megapixel wide angle lens, a 13 megapixel telephoto shooter, and a 3 megapixel microscope camera. Looking at the test summary, the device scored 139 points in photography, while it received 111 points in video and 71 points for zoom tests.

This translates to the device holding the number sixth DxOMark ranking with the camera rating firm praising it for its “Vivid and pleasant color in most photos and videos,” along with its good detail retention in both videos and photos. Furthermore, the depth estimation for bokeh photos was found to be accurate, with its autofocus being smooth and fast for videos, which also highlighted its effective stabilization as well.

On the other hand, the device lost points for exposure instabilities in high contrast scenes. Similarly, exposure adaptation in videos was also unstable at times. During low light scenes, the videos were underexposed and auto focus was slow. Night scenes also revealed strong noise in the video captures, while luminance noise and white balance plagued both photos and videos at times. Overall, the Oppo Find X3 Pro still offered a strong camera performance and was said to be one of the best devices that DxOMark has ever tested.

Earlier today (14th May 2021), Oppo announced that it will be launching new limited variant of its flagship Find X3 Pro smartphone. This version is the Find X3 Pro Mars Exploration special edition that will be released tomorrow (15th May 2021).

The company shared this news on its official Weibo account, a Chinese microblogging website, and even shared a teaser image poster. This variant of the Find X3 Pro will arrive with a new color scheme, which will be distinct from its base color versions. Furthermore, the Find X3 Pro Mars Exploration special edition will arrive with 16GB of RAM and up to 512GB of internal storage.

Unfortuantely, finer details regarding this variant is currently unknown but it is expected to feature similar specifications to the high end variant of the Find X3 Pro. Notably, the new version is apparently designed by Oppo in collaboration with aerospace agencies as well. Under the hood, the device would probably feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor and will sport a 6.7 inches QHD+ AMOLED display.

Similarly, the device would likely also be powered by a large 4500 mAh battey pack that supports up to 65W wired fast charging and up to 30W wireless fast charging. The pricing of this variant is unknown but the device might sold at a premium, with the pricing being around 6,999 Yuan (roughly 1088 US Dollars). Benchmarking outfit AnTuTu has released the ranking of the top 10 smartphones in the month of April 2021. Just as was announced earlier, the models on the list were benchmark using the new AnTuTu V9 for the first time.  

The list is entirely dominated by Snapdragon 888 flagship models which are pretty interesting. The ranking saw the Black Shark 4 Pro retain its number position on top of the chart with an average score of 860467, continuing its strong run-in from last month. However, six of the models that were on the list in March were edged out of the April rankings. The models include the ASUS ROG Phone 5, Vivo X60 Pro+, iQOO 7, Redmi K40 Pro, Meizu 18, and Meizu 18 Pro.

The second spot is occupied by the OPPO Find X3 Pro with an average score of 831801. On the top position is the Nubia Red Magic 6 Pro which averages 828649. Other models on the list include the OnePlus 9 Pro, Lenovo Legion Gaming Phone 2 Pro, Vivo X60 Pro+, iQOO 7, OnePlus 9, Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra, and the vanilla Mi 11.

AnTuTu also released a ranking of the top 10 best-performing mid-range smartphones. Just like in March, the Redmi 10X with a MediaTek Dimensity 820 chip leads the pack with an average score of 455,838.

The top 10 mid-range models also include the iQOO 3, Huawei Nova 8 Pro, Honor 30, Huawei Nova 8, Huawei Nova 7, Honor X10, Huawei Nova 7 SE, Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G, and OPPO Reno 5 5G. It is instructive to note that there are six Huawei models on the list of top-performing mid-range models. We expect the ranking to change when that of May is listed, considering the emergence of more premium mid-range models.

It is a tough call sustaining software support for most smartphones beyond two years due to a raft of issues needed to make the extra update a success. Fast-rising Chinese brand Oppo is staking claims that there will be a minimum of three years of software support for its Find X3 series of premium smartphones. The trend out there in the market is that smartphone manufacturers progressively provide extended support for their models, and Oppo will not be left out

Two years of software updates are available generally, but Oppo says its Find X3 models will have an additional year of support for security patches. According to reports from Android Planet, the Chinese company ultimately says it hopes to further extend software support for the Find X3 series to four years. However, Oppo says that research is still ongoing to see how viable four-year extended software support for the series is.

According to the statement, the Oppo Find X3 series would be viable for up to three Android system updates, although the current Oppo policy remains two updates. Since the high-end Oppo FindX3 series originally came with Android 11, they will get Android 12 and Android 13 updates when available. It is observed that there are sometimes sharp differences between manufacturers on the number of system updates that would be available for their products.

The Find X3 Pro is the current flagship model from Oppo and comes well-kitted to compete with other high-end models from the market leaders. The flagship was unveiled together with the Find X3 Neo and X3 Lite and cost about $1,400. Oppo hopes to square up to its flagship model with Samsung’s Galaxy S21 Ultra, Xiaomi’s Mi 11 Pro, and OnePlus 9 Pro. The Find X3 Pro has an excellent design, powerful hardware and camera system, and other impressive features. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 chipset powers it with 5G support available. The 4500mAh battery of the X3 Pro has 65W super-fast charging and wireless charging.

A lot of people did not expect such an advanced phone and maybe the concurrence too. If you just need the most beautiful design, you should go for the OPPO Find X3 Pro, in my honest opinion. Its clean and incredibly elegant design is made with a process lasting 40 hours involving high temperatures up to 700 °C in order to make a back glass full of curves and without interruptions. The handset also comes in a special leather variant called Cosmic Mocha. On the other hand, Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra is still made of very premium materials, including a ceramic back, but it is definitely less attractive with that huge camera module.

Display

All of these devices are equipped with astonishing displays which earned the A+ vote from DisplayMate. They feature Quad HD+ resolutions, they can show up to one billion colors and they even come with adaptive refresh rates thanks to the LTPO technology. You should not make your choice by evaluating the displays since the differences are marginal.

Specs & Software

Even on the hardware side, these devices are very similar. They are all flagships with the best hardware department you can expect in 2021. With the exception of the European variant of the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra, they are all powered by the Snapdragon 888 mobile platform paired with UFS 3.1 native storage. The Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra is the only one to offer a memory configuration with 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of native storage, while the others stop at 12/256 GB.

Camera

There are a lot of things to say about the cameras of these handsets. They are all impressive camera phones and it is hard to say which one is literally the best. According to DxOMark, the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra is the best camera phone out there, but the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra has better zoom capabilities with its 10x optical zoom. The OPPO Find X3 Pro offers better macro performance thanks to its 3 MP microlens sporting up to 60x magnification. With the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra, you can shoot selfies with the rear cameras thanks to the secondary display on the rear side. Each device has its pro and cons, but each is an amazing camera phone.

Battery

You should not notice huge differences even when it comes to battery life. The OPPO Find X3 Pro should be the most disappointing one since it has a smaller 4500 mAh battery, but the advantage of this device is the fact that it has a more compact device. The Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra and the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra have similar specifications (in terms of energy consumption) and the same battery capacity, but with the Mi 11 Ultra, you get the highest charging speeds.

Price

You can find Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra, Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra, and OPPO Find X3 Pro in the global market with prices ranging from €1100/$1300 to €1200/$1413 (prices vary depending on the region). At least until we tested every device thoroughly, we can not establish a winner for this comparison. The OPPO Find X3 Pro has the best design, Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra comes with the most interesting camera department, Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra is the only one to support the S Pen. Each one has its advantage and disadvantages and the one to go for depends on your actual needs. Which one would you pick?

The current flagship model of Oppo, the Find X3 was unveiled earlier this month in three color variants, and a fourth impressive and captivating color has just been added, at least for the Chinese market.  Cosmic Mocha is the fitting name given to the new color variant of the Find X3 Pro.

The model has a frame with a light gold allure that coincides with the camera island design on the back, with a vegan leather exterior. The signature Oppo logo sits at the bottom right of the back, well crusted on the vegan leather exterior.

The unveiling of the Oppo Find X3 earlier this month brought to the spotlight the quantum of unorthodox innovation and quality that Oppo is bringing to the phone-making space. The Neo and Lite variants are rebrands of the devices respectively known as the Reno5 Pro+ 5G and Reno5 5G in the Chinese market, while the Pro version is an entirely new flagship. Design

The best and most impressive design belongs to the OPPO Find X3 Pro, which even won the Red Dot Design Award 2021. The Find X3 Pro is also the only waterproof phone of the trio, with the IP68 certification. The OPPO Find X3 Pro has the best display of the trio and one of the best smartphone displays in the whole market. It shows up to one billion colors thanks to a true 10-bit color depth, it has a Quad HD+ resolution, an adaptive refresh rate with up to 120 Hz (thanks to the LTPO technology), and more. The OPPO Find X3 Neo does not come with a 10-bit color depth and it has a lower Full HD+ resolution, but it retains the HDR10+ certification, it has a high 1100 nit peak brightness and a 90 Hz refresh rate. With the OPPO Find X3 Lite you get a 90 Hz AMOLED display too, but it lacks HDR10+ and the brightness is lower compared to the Find X3 Neo.

Hardware/Software

OPPO Find X3 Pro and Neo are two flagships powered by the Snapdragon 888 and the Snapdragon 865 mobile platform, respectively. The OPPO Find X3 Lite is instead a mid-ranger with the Snapdragon 765G, the same as the predecessor Find X3 Lite. However, I tried the Find X3 Lite and for normal users (daily usage), it is hard to distinguish the performance difference, unless you play advanced games. All the phones run Android 11 with ColorOS 11.1 on top.

Camera

OPPO Find X3 Pro is the most innovative phone and the most advanced one in terms of cameras. It boasts a dual 50 MP main camera paired with a 13 MP telephoto sensor and a 3 MP macro camera with 60x magnification which works like a microscope. Right after, we got the OPPO Find X3 Neo, still, a high-end camera phone with a 50 MP Sony IMX766 main camera, but the secondary sensors are inferior: you get a telephoto sensor, a 16 MP ultrawide camera, and a 2 MP macro camera. The OPPO Find X3 Lite is a midrange camera phone with a 64 MP main camera: it lacks OIS and telephoto.

Battery

OPPO Find X3 Pro and Neo have the same 4500 mAh battery and they provide a similar battery life, while The Find X3 Lite has a smaller 4300 mAh unit. With the OPPO Find X3 Pro, you get 65W fast charging and wireless charging, while Find X3 Neo and Lite only feature 65W wired charging.

Further, it comes with a high refresh rate: up to 120 Hz. The refresh rate is adaptive thanks to the LTPO technology and it can automatically switch from 1 to 120 Hz. The phone even comes with a higher Quad HD+ resolution and an in-display fingerprint reader. The iPhone has a stunning image quality, but it lacks a high refresh rate and QHD+ resolution.

The OPPO Find X3 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max are both equipped with flagship-class processors and they provide similar levels of performance. With these phones, you can do every kind of activity without issues and at blazing speeds. The operating systems are different: you get iOS 14 with the iPhone 12 Pro Max and Android 11 with the OPPO Find X3 Pro. OPPO’s latest flagship smartphone, the OPPO Find X3 series, officially went on sale today in China, for a starting price of 4,499 yuan. Now, the company has announced that within just 15 seconds of the Find X3 series going on sale, it generated sales worth 100 million yuan.

The smartphones are made available in three color options — Condensed White, Mist Blue, Mirror Black. The 8GB + 128GB model of Find X3 costs 4,499 yuan (~$691) while the 8GB + 256GB model is priced at 4,999 yuan (~$767). The Find X3 Pro with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage is priced at 5,999 yuan (~$921).

Coming to the smartphones, the Find X3 and Find X3 Pro feature a 6.7-inch 10-bit curved E4 OLED QHD+ screen with 3126 x 1440 pixels screen resolution and support of up to 1 billion colors on the display. It also maxes out at 800 nits overall brightness, has a JNCD~0.4, 120Hz refresh rate, covers sRGB/P3, and 100% of DCI-P3 color gamut, and has a contrast ratio of 5,000,000:1.

The display supports O-Sync for low response time(5-10ms), Adaptive refresh rate (120-5Hz), Ultra-vision Engine to up the video resolution by 2x higher, HDR10+ SGS Eye care Display certified, Color Vision Enhancement to help people with CVD.

Under the hood, the Find X3 Pro is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset while the Find X3 in China has the Snapdragon 870 chipset. Both are paired with UFS 3.1 storage but the non-Pro has LPDDR4x RAM in China and the ‘Pro’ variants have LPDDR5 RAM. The devices also have support for the Dual-SIM dual-mode (SA/NSA) 5G network.

In the camera department, the devices come with a quad-camera setup on the back which includes two 50MP IMX766 sensors co-developed with Sony. They are coupled with a 3MP macro lens and a 13MP telephoto camera. On the front side, there’s a 32MP snapper for taking selfies and video calling.

The smartphones are running the ColorOS 11.2 based on Android 11. They pack a 4,500mAh battery with support for 65W SuperVOOC charge and 30W AirVOOC Flash Charge and 10W reverse wireless charging support.

It is very hard to establish which phone has the best display not only because their specs are similar, but also because we still had no chance to test the OPPO Find X3 Pro since it has been announced just two days ago. At the moment, Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra offers one of the best displays you can find in the smartphone market, and so does the OPPO Find X3 Pro which is able to show one billion colors thanks to 10-bit color depth. The display of the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra has an additional feature: the S Pen support. Further, its in-display fingerprint reader is ultrasonic, which means better unlock performance.

Specs & Software

OPPO Find X3 Pro and Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra are powered by the Snapdragon 888 mobile platform, but the European version of the Galaxy S21 Ultra has the Exynos 2100 which is actually inferior to the Snapdragon 888 in terms of power management. The OPPO Find X3 Pro has up to 12 GB of RAM and up to 256 GB of internal storage, while the best configuration of the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra has 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of internal storage. The Snapdragon version of the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra wins the hardware comparison. The Sammy flagship will get four years of updates and three years of Android major updates, while OPPO actually has inferior update policies.

Camera

On the paper, the OPPO Find X3 Pro has a more interesting camera department. It comes with two 50 MP main camera (including an ultrawide one), a microlens camera which shoots macro with up to 60x zoom, and a telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom. With the Galaxy S21 Ultra, you get a 108 MP main sensor, a 10 MP periscope sensor with 10x optical zoom, a 10 MP telephoto sensor, and a 12 MP ultrawide sensor. Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra has better zoom capabilities in normal photos, while OPPO Find X3 Pro should guarantee better macro shots. On the other hand, the OPPO Find X3 Pro provides faster charging technologies: you get SuperVOOC 2.0 providing fast wired charging with 65W power and AirVOOC for wireless charging with 30W power.

The OPPO Find X3 and Find X3 Pro has a very unique design language. They measure 163.6x74x8.26mm and weigh just 193g. Molded on a single piece of glass, the curves on the rear are created by heat-treating the glass and molding it against 2000+ design control points for over 40 hrs.

The Find X3 Pro comes in various colors as mentioned above. Out of this, the blue model is frosted to a precise 85% opacity to get the silky texture and remain free of fingerprint smudges. As for durability, the Find X3 Pro is IP68-rated for water and dust resistance.

OPPO‘s next-generation of flagship smartphones under its Find-series is all set to get officially launched in its home country China — the OPPO Find X3 series. The devices are set to go official tomorrow.

Now, just a day ahead of the official launch, the company has revealed the color options of the OPPO Find X3 series. It has confirmed that the phone will come in three colors — Mirror Black, Fog Blue, and Condensed White.

The company is expected to launch two variants of the phone — Find X3 and Find X3 Pro. Ahead of the launch, OPPO has already started taking reservations of both the phones on its own online store, JD.com, and other Chinese retailers.

As for the design, the renders of the Find X3 Pro shows that it features a curved edge display with a hole-punch placed at the upper-left corner. There is a square-shaped camera housing on the backside, housing four sensors and an LED flash.

So far, it has been revealed that the OPPO Find X3 Pro has a 6.7-inch QHD+ display that supports 10-bit color depth. Under the hood, it is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 mobile platform, with up to 12GB of RAM. It could be coming with a 4,500mAh battery that supports 65W fast charging and 30W wireless charging.

In the camera department, it features a 32-megapixel front-facing camera. On the back side, there is a Sony IMX766 50-megapixel primary camera sensor, a Sony IMX766 50-megapixel ultra-wide sensor, a 13-megapixel telephoto periscope shooter, and a 5-megapixel micro lens.

OPPO is expected to officially unveil the flagship Find X3 series in China on March 11. Ahead of the launch, several teasers of the device have been shared online. One of the latest details shared by OPPO is that the Find X3 will launch as the first device that will be equipped with a full-path 10bit color management system.

OPPO first announced the Full-path Color Management System at the OPPO INNO DAY 2020 in November last year.  OPPO touts the device to be the “very first” Android color management system to offer such performance. It promises to deliver an “outstanding viewing experience” with “authentic and accurate color reproduction.”

The Color Management System is capable of supporting full DCI-P3 wide gamut and 10-bit colour depth from capture to storage and display. Compared to a depth of 8-bits, the 10-bit colour tones down the artificial visual features brought about by gaps in colour. It also further improves colour gradient to enhance the quality of visual content during creation and post-editing. Meanwhile, with a size of around 50% of a JPEG, the new and powerful HEIF format fully supports a wide variety of multimedia, such as static images, Exif, depth information, and dynamic videos, giving users more creative freedom and is compatible with ultra-high colour depth.

In another development, tipster Evan Blass has shared two promotional videos of the Find X3 Pro which promote various aspects of the device. The videos which look like Sci-fi films promote features such as the dynamic 120Hz display, IP68 water resistance, 65W and 30W wired and wireless charging, and the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888. The second video centers on the design especially the rear camera protrusion.

OPPO is gearing up to launch its latest OPPO Find X3 lineup in which the company is expected to unveil four devices — OPPO Find X3, Find X3 Pro, Find X3 Neo, and Find X3 Lite. While the company has not yet confirmed the official launch date, it has been tipped by Jon Prosser.

According to the latest information coming via Jon Prosser, the OPPO Find X3 series flagship smartphones will be officially launched on 11th March. He has also revealed that the company will start taking pre-orders for the same from 31st March while the devices will be available for purchase from 14th April.

Based on the leaked images, it seems that the Find X3 Neo and Find X3 Pro will come with an edge-to-edge display. All these phones will feature a punch-hole cutout on the top-left corner of the screen.

Coming to the display, it is said that the Find X3 Pro will have a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with Quad HD+ screen resolution and 120Hz refresh rate support. The Neo variant is also said to have the same size of screen while the Lite model will feature a 6.4-inch display.

OPPO is expected to launch the OPPO Find X3 Pro flagship smartphone in March. Ahead of its official announcement, this handset is in the news for the past few days, thanks to multiple leaks and certifications. Now, it has been spotted on one more organization and testing platform.

The upcoming OPPO Find X3 Pro with model number CPH2173 has been now certified by IMDA (Infocomm Media Development Authority). Hence, this smartphone could launch in Singapore like most OPPO phones.

This certification does not reveal much except that the handset will come with 5G, WiFi, Bluetooth, NFC, and WPT (Wireless Power Transfer).
