After launching the brand’s flagship foldable, the Oppo Find N2 Flip at MWC Barcelona last week, Oppo is set to release the company’s flagship bar-type smartphones as well this season, namely the Oppo Find X6 series of flagship smartphones this March in China.

For Illustration Purposes only

The launch window was indirectly confirmed by Oppo through the company launch event invitations it blasted to several Chinese tech influencers via in-app notifications and SMSes in the country. Said tech influencers then posted the launch invite on Weibo, revealing some details of where and when the Oppo Find X6 will be launched.

The launch invite specifies that for the year 2023, Oppo will be holding a physical launch event in Shenzhen, China to announce the Oppo Find X6 flagship series in the country. The launch event is currently scheduled to be held on the 3rd week of March 2023 on a business day.

Although no specific date was mentioned by Oppo in the invitation, it is assumed that the Oppo Find X6 series has been finalised for sale in the country and that Oppo not mentioning a specific date could be due to scheduling conflicts it would want to avoid against other competing smartphone launches in March as well.

Otherwise, Oppo fans online seem to be excited for the launch of the Oppo Find X6 series, as some internal sources told fans that the Oppo Find X6 flagships are said to be a significant upgrade over the Oppo Find X5 series, some even dubbing the upcoming series as the next miracle smartphone to save Oppo’s deteriorating reputation in the country.

“The Oppo Find N is the foldable flagship that I found myself feeling the most joyful, heart-stirring, and irresistible product yet, in my many years in the industry. It is personally the best foldable to use in the market right now,” Pete Lau stated.

He also stated in the Weibo post that in creating the perfect dimensions for the Find N, Oppo ran into a lot of conflicts internally, as well as running into an employee almost resigning due to the hardships they faced in creating the Find N.

As announced earlier, research for the Find N has been ongoing for at least 4 years, and that the Find N would be the first foldable in the industry to use a vertebral-designed hinge compared to the U-shaped hinges of its industry peers, seen as the turning point for foldables going mainstream.

The hinge was the biggest challenge for the Find N, as Pete Lau mentioned that Oppo had to patent 125 technologies, just to eliminate the crease, and the end result was an almost no-crease customer-wowing industry-leading flagship foldable.

The newly designed hinge is said to help solve the screen crease problem that has been plaguing foldables like the Galaxy Z Fold3 to this day. Pete Lau previously shared that when he showed the Oppo Find N to other foldable users, their reaction to the Oppo Find N having an unnoticeable crease was jaw-dropping.

Earlier this week, on 10th April, Oppo took the wraps off its latest premium smartphone lineup — Oppo Reno. The company has launched two smartphones under the Reno series and is expected to launch five models in the series.

With the launch of Reno lineup, it wasn’t clear which series will be the company’s flagship series as the Oppo currently has three series — R-series, Find-series and Reno-series. But, that is settled now.

In an interview Oppo’s senior vice president Shen Yiren confirmed that the company will scrap the R-series and will no longer update the lineup with new models. Instead, the company will be focusing on Oppo Reno and Oppo Find series, which will meet all the customers’ demand.

Thus, it seems that the Oppo R17-series was the last from the company in the lineup and the flagship series is now being replaced with the Reno and Find lineup. While Reno models have started becoming official, the company is yet to launch the successor of the Oppo Find X that was launched last year.

Oppo recently launched Oppo Reno and Oppo Reno 10X Zoom Edition in China. The Reno standard edition comes with 6.4 inches display that offers full HD+ resolution and 19.5:9 aspect ratio. It is also fitted with an in-display fingerprint reader as well as Gorilla Glass 6.

The phone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 chipset along with up to 8GB of RAM. It comes with inbuilt storage of up to 256 GB and it also features a microSD card slot for extra storage. It features 48MP + 5MP dual camera at the back and a 16MP pop-up front-facing camera.

On the other hand, the Oppo Reno 10X Zoom, as the name suggets, comes with a camera setup that supports 10x hybrid zoom. It features a 6.65-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display that offers a screen-to-body ratio of 91.3 percent.

Under the hood, this one is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 octa-core processor, along with up to 8GB of RAM. It houses a 16-megapixel front camera and LED flash. On its rear, there’s a triple camera setup that includes 48MP + 8MP + 13MP sensors. It is powered by a 4,500mAh battery with VOOC 3.0 fast charging.

OPPO’s flagship Find series hasn’t seen an update in over two years and there is a very good chance that the company has scrapped the lineup in favor of its OPPO R9 series. However, rumors about the OPPO Find 9 flagship, which should ideally be the successor to the OPPO Find 7 smartphones have continued to come in. Earlier, it was said that the Find 9 will be announced sometime in June this year. That clearly didn’t happen and now, noted analyst Pan Jiutang says that the Find 9 could possible release by Summer next year.

According to the analyst, he reportedly found OPPO Find 9 project recently, proving that the phone is still under development. He further added that the phone has very powerful hardware. We already know that if the OPPO Find 9 makes it to the market, then it should feature the company’s super-fast Super VOOC Fast Charging technology, which charges a phone in just 15 minutes. There are other features like top-end Snapdragon chipset, 6GB RAM and powerful camera setup that we can expect on the device.

If the release is indeed next Summer, we will have to wait for a few months more to get more details on the device. But it remains to be seen whether OPPO would consider releasing an update to the Find 9 series almost three years after the Find 7 was announced in the market.

Now, a new model called OPPO x9007 has just been spotted on the benchmarking app, AnTuTu, revealing some specs details about the device. Considering the model number, timing and the specs of the device, this looks like a lower-end version of the upcoming OPPO Find 9 series.

According to this listing, the OPPO X9007 model, said to be the upgraded version of the OPPO Find 9 — most likely OPPO Find 9, will come with Snapdragon 820 quad-core chipset inside. OPPO’s Find series are known to feature top-end specs, so Snapdragon 820 isn’t a surprise. Further,r the phone will come with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. There’s no information about MicroSD expansion. There would be a 1080p display of unknown size as well. At the back, the phone features a 16MP camera while up front, you get a 4MP shooter. Finally, for software, the Find 9 model comes with Android 6.0.

Taking a look at these specs, this could be one of the variants of the Find 9 series. However, we can expect much powerful variants as well, which should upgrade a lot of things like RAM to 4GB or even 6GB, resolution to 2K and storage to 64GB or 128GB. This would make the new Find 9 model a worthy successor to the previous generation models.

As for the other specs, earlier rumours claim that the Find 9 will come with OPPO’s Super VOOC fast charging tech that charges a 2500mAh battery in just 15 minutes. Then there’s the company’s self developed smart sensor that brings image stabilisation at the sensor level. There are even rumours about a 4K display, but we can’t be sure of that. As for the pricing, it could go as high as $616. The release is rumoured to be in June, but there’s no confirmation yet.

Anyway, let’s wait for the top-end variants of the new OPPO Find series to crop up online. Only then we would be able to paint a clear picture of what the company has in store for us in the second half of this year.

But they have been mostly about the company’s upper mid-range devices and not flagships. However, a new image recently cropped up online claiming to the upcoming OPPO Find 9, which could be the company’s next flagship device.

The source reveals a phone with a large display, with the ear piece and the sensors too close to the top edge. So, the display could be covering a large portion of the device, making it nearly borderless.

The phone features a similar design profile as the Find 7, however its more flat and the display also covers a larger proportion of the overall body.

Unfortunately, there is nothing in the picture that says its the upcoming OPPO Find 9. Also, as of now, no technical specifications of the device have been leaked till now. So, as always, we will advise you to take the news with a pinch of salt.

We’ll keep you updated if any more specs details or images turn up online, but until then, its safe to assume that this news is probably fake.
