The interesting part of the Reno lineup is the shark-fin front camera which is similar to the pop-up selfie camera.</p>
<p>Now, the Chinese company is gearing up to introduce protective covers for the Oppo Reno series smartphones. Last week, Guangdong <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/oppo">Oppo</a> Mobile Telecommunications filed for a trademark with the EUIPO (European Union Intellectual Property Office) for the name &#8220;FinShell&#8221; for the name as well as the associated logo.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-265453 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/oppo-finshell-trademark.jpg?x10805" alt="Oppo FinShell Trademark" width="1440" height="950" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/oppo-finshell-trademark.jpg 1440w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/oppo-finshell-trademark-300x198.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/oppo-finshell-trademark-768x507.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/oppo-finshell-trademark-1024x676.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/oppo-finshell-trademark-696x459.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/oppo-finshell-trademark-1068x705.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/oppo-finshell-trademark-637x420.jpg 637w" sizes="(max-width: 1440px) 100vw, 1440px" /></p>
<p>The trademark for FinShell is categorized as Class 9/35/36/42 with a detailed description, including; &#8216; smartphone case; Smartphone cover; screen protectors &#8216;. Although the description leaves the space that it also might go a different type of product, the name seems to be suggesting smartphone case.</p>
<p>The &#8220;Fin&#8221; part of the name refers to the Shark-fin camera module for the self-elevating selfie camera on the Reno series smartphone. The word &#8220;Shell&#8221; is being used in the smartphone industry to refer to cases and covers. Thus, it&#8217;s very likely that the upcoming FinShark product is a case for the Oppo Reno series devices.</p>
<div class="su-note" style="border-color:#e5e5e5;border-radius:3px;-moz-border-radius:3px;-webkit-border-radius:3px;"><div class="su-note-inner su-u-clearfix su-u-trim" style="background-color:#ffffff;border-color:#ffffff;color:#333333;border-radius:3px;-moz-border-radius:3px;-webkit-border-radius:3px;"><span style="color: #ff0000"><strong>Editor&#8217;s Pick: </strong></span><a title="Redmi teases the World’s First 64MP Smartphone with a Camera Sample" href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/07/22/redmi-worlds-first-64mp-smartphone-camera-sample/" rel="bookmark"><strong>Xiaomi&#8217;s Redmi teases the World’s First 64-megapixel smartphone with a Camera Sample</strong></a></div></div>
<p>However, it is not yet known which of the Reno series smartphones will get the case that has now been trademarked. Given that the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/oppo-reno-z/">Reno Z</a> comes with a waterdrop notch to house the selfie camera, the phone seems out of the question for the new cover.</p>
<p>Recently, the company launched the Oppo <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/07/17/oppo-reno-10x-zoom-barcelona-edition-launched/">Reno 10X Zoom FC Barcelona Edition</a> which comes with a protective cover in the box. Apart from this special edition phone, there are four smartphones in this series so far &#8212; Oppo Reno, Reno 10X Zoom Edition, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/05/02/oppo-reno-first-5g-smartphone-europe/">Reno 5G</a>, and Reno Z. Also, the company is gearing up to launch the Reno F smartphone in the coming weeks but nothing much is known about it yet.</p>
