OPPO had a launch event in China today and it announced a handful of new products, one of which is the OPPO K9 Pro smartphone. The mid-range phone packs some pretty impressive features found in premium mid-range phones and at a pretty affordable price tag.

OPPO K9 Pro specs

The OPPO K9 Pro has a 6.43-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, a 180Hz touch sampling rate, HDR10, and a DCI-P3 wide color gamut. There is a punch hole at the top left corner that houses a 16MP sensor.

Powering the phone is a Dimensity 1200 processor and it is paired with 8GB or 12GB of RAM. Depending on the RAM variant you pick up, you get either 128GB or 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. However, there is no support for storage expansion via a MicroSD card slot, though it has support for OTG, so you can connect a thumb drive.

The back of the phone is home to three cameras – a 64MP f/1.7 primary sensor with a 6P lens, an 8MP f/2.2 super wide-angle camera with a 119º field of view and a 5P lens, and a 2MP f/2.4 macro camera with a 3P lens that can shoot 4 CM macro photos. The camera app has lots of features such as a neon portrait mode, a super night mode, and a night mode for the front camera.

There is a 4500mAh battery inside the phone and it can charge from empty to 50% in just 16 minutes thanks to having support for 60W Super Flash Charge. The OPPO K9 Pro also has an in-display fingerprint scanner, Face Unlock, NFC, dual SIM dual 5G support, dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 5.2, an audio jack, and a USB-C port. OPPO ships the phone with ColorOS 11 based on Android 11.

OPPO K9 Pro Price and Availability

The OPPO K9 Pro is priced at ¥2199 (~$340) for the 8+128GB version but will be sold for ¥1999 (~$309) for a limited time while the 12+256GB version is priced at ¥2699 (~$417) but will be sold for ¥2499 (~$386) for early buyers. It will be available for purchase starting September 30.

Recently, the Oppo K9 Pro smartphone was confirmed to launch on September 26 with the courtesy of retail websites like Suning and JD. Today, Oppo has officially revealed the launch poster of the smartphone on Weibo affirming its September 26 launch.

The poster reveals the design of the Oppo K9 Pro smartphone and also confirms its colour variants. The smartphone will launch in two colors – Black and Gradient.

According to the poster, the Oppo K9 Pro seems to feature a triple camera system at the rear. It is a vertical camera island and it is expected to have a 64MP main lens, an 8MP ultra-wide sensor, and a 2MP depth-sensing lens.

Moving to the rest of the specs, the smartphone was spotted with a 6.43-inch punch-hole display with a Full-HD+ resolution. It will be an AMOLED panel with super-thin bezels. The phone will feature a 16MP front camera for selfies.

Under the hood, the smartphone is expected to come powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 1200 SoC. It will be paired with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of onboard storage. The 5G phone will pack a 4,400mAh battery with fast charging support.

As for security, the phone has an in-display fingerprint scanner and support for face unlock. It will run on Android 11 out of the box with Oppo’s custom skin on top of it.

The yet-to-be-released OPPO K9 Pro smartphone has been spotted on multiple websites since August 2021. The K9 Pro was certified by TENAA last month and even appeared on GeekBench recently. The device has now been listed on the websites of Chinese retailers Jingdong (JD.com) and Suning with a possible September 26 date linked to the smartphone.

The listings bare the entire design of the device confirming previous images and also revealing a few details about the K9 Pro. The upper third of the OPPO K9 Pro is taken by the unique triple camera. The triple rear camera setup is headlined by a 64MP main sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide snapper, and a possible 2MP depth camera. The Oppo K9 Pro is primed to deliver super performance with its Dimensity 1200 chipset with 12GB of RAM and a 3.0GHz CPU. There are physical buttons on both sides of the smartphone which could mean that the fingerprint scanner could be under the OLED panel.

These details and listings on various websites could indicate that the K9 Pro is set for its unveiling very soon. Although there is no official confirmation yet from the Chinese company on the rumored September 26 launch date, we expect more details in the coming days.
