How is Oppo Pad 4 Pro Different from Previous Models?

Oppo’s newest flagship tablet, the Pad 4 Pro, has arrived, and on paper, it looks like the company’s most ambitious slate yet. Unveiled alongside its Find X8s series in China, the Pad 4 Pro packs serious hardware, bleeding-edge display tech, and a refined software experience. But how much of an upgrade is it, really, when compared to its predecessors — the Oppo Pad 3 Pro and Oppo Pad 2?

Let’s unpack what’s truly new, what’s just polished, and where Oppo is finally starting to make real strides.

Bigger, Bolder, Sharper

The most immediate change? Size. The Oppo Pad 4 Pro leaps to a massive 13.2-inch screen, the largest in Oppo’s tablet portfolio, up from the 12.1-inch Pad 3 Pro and 11.6-inch Pad 2. The resolution also gets a bump, with the new display pushing 3392 x 2400 pixels (3.4K), versus the 3K panel on the Pad 3 Pro and 2.8K on the Pad 2. Combine that with a 144Hz adaptive refresh rate and 900 nits of brightness, and you get one of the sharpest and most responsive LCD displays on a tablet today.

But the real kicker is the 540Hz touch sampling rate. Oppo says this panel is tuned for demanding games like Genshin Impact and Honkai Impact 3rd, promising both 2.1K ultra-high image quality and 120fps gameplay. That’s a bold claim for any tablet, let alone one running on Android.

Performance

Powering the Pad 4 Pro is Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, built on TSMC’s 3nm process. This puts it ahead of the Pad 3 Pro’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Leading Version (a 4nm chip), and leagues ahead of the Dimensity 9000 inside the Pad 2. It’s not just about clock speed either. The Elite’s Adreno 830 GPU, paired with LPDDR5X RAM and blazing-fast UFS 4.0 storage, gives the Pad 4 Pro a significant performance headroom, ideal for heavy multitasking, gaming, and creative workflows.

That said, the Pad 3 Pro’s Gen 3 chip is still no slouch. But the lack of UFS 4.0 and limited RAM/storage variant (12GB + 256GB) in global markets means it doesn’t scale up as flexibly as the Pad 4 Pro, which goes all the way to 16GB RAM and 512GB storage.

Design and Audio Refinement

Design-wise, the Pad 4 Pro sticks to Oppo’s now-familiar formula: a sleek metal unibody, ultra-thin profile (just 5.97mm), and symmetrical bezels. It weighs 675g, noticeably heavier than the Pad 3 Pro (586g) and Pad 2 (552g), but that’s the trade-off for the larger display and beefier battery.

Speaking of sound, the audio setup gets a serious boost. The Pad 4 Pro sports eight speakers in a 4 mid-bass + 4 tweeter layout, with Dolby Atmos and Hi-Res Audio certification. That’s up from six speakers on the Pad 3 Pro and four on the Pad 2. Whether you’re watching Netflix or gaming with spatial audio, this thing should sound great on paper at least.

Battery, Charging, and Connectivity

Oppo’s tablets have long featured generous batteries, but the Pad 4 Pro takes it a step further with a 12,140mAh cell, up from the 9510mAh units used in both previous models. Charging remains at 67W SuperVOOC across the board, but it’s good to see Oppo maintaining that fast-charging standard even as battery sizes increase.

Connectivity also gets a generational bump. The Pad 4 Pro supports Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, USB 3.2 Gen 1, and 5G sharing. That’s a more future-proof I/O setup than the Pad 2’s older Bluetooth 5.3 and Wi-Fi 6.

Software

The Pad 4 Pro ships with ColorOS 15 based on Android 15, making it one of the first Android tablets to launch with the latest OS. In contrast, the Pad 3 Pro and Pad 2 were released with Android 14 and Android 13, respectively. Anyways, all of them currently boot the latest ColorOS 15 (Android 15). They offer better multi-device sync, improved window management, and native support for AI-powered features as well.

Accessories and Ecosystem

Accessories also carry over, but with refinement. The Pad 4 Pro supports the new Smart Touch Keyboard and Oppo Pencil 2 Pro, offering improved magnetic connection, pressure sensitivity, and pairing via NFC. The Pencil 2 Pro was already bundled with the Pad 3 Pro in some regions, but here it’s an optional upgrade.

Final Thoughts

Oppo has steadily evolved its tablet line from the Pad 2 to the Pad 3 Pro, but with the Pad 4 Pro, it finally feels like a flagship worthy of the price. Bigger display, more powerful chipset, better sound, and refined software all come together to make it more than just a spec bump. It’s still an Android tablet, yes, but one that actually tries to make the most of the hardware it ships with.

If you skipped the Pad 3 Pro or are still on the Pad 2, this is probably the one worth upgrading to. Oppo is expected to launch this tablet under the OnePlus umbrella, which will likely debut as the OnePlus Pad 3 Pro in global markets.

Oppo Pad 2 picks up Color OS 14 update based on Android 14 in China

Oppo has just announced that the official version of ColorOS 14.0 × Android 14 is now available for Oppo Pad 2 users in China. The update announcement does not come with an official changelog, however, you can check out our complete breakdown of ColorOS 14 to get an idea of what’s new with this version.

Upgrade Guidelines:

The upgrade will not clear user data, but it’s advisable to back up essential personal data before proceeding.
Some third-party applications may face compatibility issues with Android 14. Users are encouraged to update these applications to their latest versions from the software store.
Following the upgrade, the system will undergo adaptation and optimization actions for two days. Users might experience temporary issues such as heat, sluggishness, or rapid power consumption. To resolve this, it’s recommended to turn off the screen, charge for 2 hours, and restart the tablet.
Users on the public beta version can directly upgrade to the official version through system push without the need for additional sign-ups.

Application Process:

Ensure that your tablet version is upgraded to the basic version 13.1.0.196.
Navigate to “Settings > About this machine > Top Version information (above ‘Tablet name’) > Settings in the upper right corner > Early adopter application > ColorOS 14.0 official version > Check ‘I have read and agree to the Privacy Policy’ > Apply now.” After application completion, click “Check for updates” to detect and download the version for the upgrade.

Oppo Pad 2 global launch seems near the horizon as it bags another certification

OnePlus recently launched its first-ever tablet in the market. The slate has been on the shelves for quite some time now. But if you would like to have it with a different name and slightly revamped software, the Oppo Pad 2 might be a good option. It is essentially a rebadged OnePlus Pad with Oppo branding. The device is already official in China, and it appears to be approaching its global launch, at least according to its TDRA certification.

Oppo Pad 2 gets TDRA certification

Oppo Pad 2 has been making rounds on various certification sites recently. It was spotted on IMDA yesterday and today, the device has been certified by UAE’s TDRA authority. While the listing does not reveal anything interesting apart from the model number (OPD2202), it does hint at a nearby launch. However, there’s no official confirmation from Oppo yet.

As we mentioned earlier, the Oppo Pad 2 is nothing but the OnePlus Pad (review). The latter was launched in the global market recently at a price of around $485. You might see similar pricing for the Oppo Pad as well.

To give you an idea, Oppo Pad 2 packs a powerful MediaTek Dimensity 9000 chipset under the hood. On the front, it gets an 11.61-inch IPS LCD display with a 7:5 aspect ratio and Dolby Vision support. The panel also features a 2800 x 2000 pixel resolution, 144Hz refresh rate, and 10-bit colors. There’s a 13MP rear camera and an 8MP shooter for selfies.

Oppo Pad 2 heading to the global market, gets IMDA certified

Back in March, the Oppo Pad 2 was launched in China featuring a metallic unibody design, a QHD+ display, and the Dimsnity 9000 SoC. The same device was launched in the global market under the OnePlus banner called the OnePlus Pad. Now, it appears that Oppo is gearing up to launch the Oppo Pad 2 for the global market as well as it has appeared on the IMDA certification website.

The OPPO Pad 2, identified by the model number OPD2202, has recently surfaced on the IMDA certification platform. This model number coincides with its previous appearance on the SIRIM certification platform. Although the certification does not mention any details about the specifications, it indicates that the tablet could debut in Singapore soon.

Blue color Oppo Watch 3 announced alongside new memory variants of Oppo Pad 2 and Oppo Pad Air

Alongside the Oppo Reno 10 series, the brand also unveiled several other products. One of them is Oppo Enco R2, while the others are new variants of existing devices.

The brand announced new memory configurations for two of its tablets, namely Oppo Pad 2 and Oppo Pad Air. It also took wraps off a new color for Oppo Watch 3 and two new straps.

Oppo’s entry-level tablet Oppo Pad Air now comes in an 8GB + 256GB version priced at ¥1799. This memory variant can be availed in Star Silver and Fog Gray color options.

This is the highest memory variant for the tablet. Apart from this, it arrives in 4GB + 128GB and 6GB + 128GB versions priced at ¥1,499 and ¥1,699, respectively.

On the other hand, the flagship Oppo Pad 2 gets a lower 8GB + 128GB variant priced at ¥2,699 in Feather Gold and Nebula Gray color options. The tablet was originally announced in 8GB + 256GB, 12GB + 256GB, and 12GB + 512GB memory configurations priced at ¥2,999, ¥3,399, and ¥3,999, respectively.

This new version of Oppo Pad 2 is already available in global markets as the base variant of the OnePlus Pad (review). However, it comes in a single Halo Green color, unlike the original product.

Finally, the Oppo Watch 3 can be now availed in blue color priced at ¥1,599. Oppo also released a green-colored leather strap and a popsicle color-inspired fabric strap priced at ¥99 and ¥69, respectively.

The watch straps are up for sale already, while the watch and tablets are available for pre-order. The watch will only go on sale only from June 16 but the tablets will be available for purchase starting June 1.

Today, the company held a major launch event in China to unveil the Find X6 and Find X6 Pro flagship phones. The same platform was used to unveil the Oppo Pad 2.

OPPO has earlier announced that the OPPO Pad 2 would be launched at a press conference scheduled for March 21. The main attraction of the March 21 event is the Find X6 flagship series launch but the flagship tablet will also join the fray.

A new teaser by the company has confirmed that the Pad 2 will arrive with a MediaTek Dimensity 9000 chipset under the hood. In addition, the teaser shows that the device will come with a staggering 512GB UFS 3.1 flash storage on the top model. This affirms the posturing of the slate as a flagship tablet.

The OPPO Pad 2 is basically the same as the Onelus Pad that was launched recently. The slate packs an 11-inch LCD screen with a resolution of 2800×2000 pixels and a peak refresh rate of 144Hz. The display uses a 7:5 aspect ratio and has a screen-to-body ratio of 88.14%. The panel brightness peaks at 500 nits and it has a contrast ratio of 1400:1.

The Dimensity 9000 chipset that would power the device is a flagship processor launched by MediaTek back in 2021. The processor has been featured in several flagship smartphones and continues to enjoy positive reviews. In terms of configuration, the chipset comes with a single Cortex-X2 performance core clocked at 3.05GHz, three Cortex-A710 cores at 2.85GHz, and four Cortex-A510 efficiency cores at 1.8GHz. For graphics, the chipset features a 10-core Arm Mali-G710.

The OPPO flagship tablet will also cram a mammoth 9510mAh battery under the hood and will have support for 67W wired flash charging which is touted to charge from 0-100% within 80 minutes. The device also features a 13MP rear camera that supports 4K video shooting while there is an 8MP sensor at the front.

In addition, there are rumors of a Snapdragon 888 version available but there is no official word on that at this time.

Oppo will be launching the Find X6 series flagship smartphones in China on March 21. Along with the smartphones, the brand will also be launching the OPPO Enco Free 3 and OPPO Pad 2. Ahead of the official launch, the brand has released some promotional images of the Oppo Pad 2.

The brand shared images of the Oppo Pad 2 revealing two color options. The tablet will come in Grey and Gold color options. Design-wise, the device looks exactly like the OnePlus Pad. Apart from the design, the company has not confirmed any other details yet. However, leaks have revealed many of the specifications already.

GeekBench recently listed a new tablet, revealing some of its exciting features. The device is rumored to be the OPPO Pad 2, and it will reportedly run on Android 13 with up to 8GB of RAM. Although there were earlier rumors that it would feature a MediaTek Dimesnity 9000 chipset, the listing suggests that it will come with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset instead.

According to the 3C listing, the tablet will support 67W fast charging technology, and rumors suggest that it will feature a 9500 mAh battery. The Bluetooth SIG listing confirms that it will have Bluetooth 5.3 and run on ColorOS 13.1 software.

OPPO has already unveiled official images of the tablet, showing a similar design to the OnePlus Pad. Digital Chat Station, a popular tipster, has also revealed that the OPPO Pad 2 will feature an 11.56-inch LCD panel with a resolution of 2800 x 2000 pixels and a refresh rate of 144Hz. The display will have certifications such as Dolby Vision and HDR10+.

Additionally, the tablet is expected to have a 13MP rear camera capable of recording videos up to 4K, as well as an 8MP front camera for selfies and video calls. OPPO is also expected to offer the device in multiple color options, unlike the OnePlus Pad, which is only available in a single color.

Several reports have claimed that OPPO’s next launch event will be held on March 21 in China. Today, the brand released an official confirmation that it will announce the OPPO Find X6 series, the OPPO Pad 2, and the OPPO Enco Free 3 earbuds at 2 pm (local time) on the said date.

The OPPO Find X6 series will include two devices, the OPPO Find X6 and Find X6 Pro. These devices are said to be powered by the Dimensity 9200 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 2v, respectively. The X6 will come with LPDDR5 and UFS 3.1 storage, whereas the X6 Pro will offer LPDDR5x RAM and UFS 4.0 storage. Last year, OPPO entered the tablet market with the launch of OPPO Pad, and later the company introduced another product in the category, dubbed OPPO Pad Air.

Now, the Chinese company is gearing up to launch another tablet in the market dubbed OPPO Pad 2. As the name indicates, the device will be a direct successor to last year’s OPPO Pad.

Ahead of the launch, the OPPO Pad 2 has been spotted on benchmarking platform Geekbench which reveals some of the key specifications for the tablet. Unsurprisingly, the specs appear similar to the OnePlus Pad.

The listing reveals that the device will come powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. While the exact model hasn’t been shown, it’s likely to be Snapdragon 888. In Geekbench 6, the device managed to score 1,160 points in the single-core test and 3,186 in the multi-core test.
