OPPO Pad with Snapdragon 870, 2.5K display & OPPO Pencil support launched in China

Earlier today, OPPO launched their Find X5 series flagship smartphones in the global market. During this launch event, the smartphone giant has also launched its first tablet device for the Chinese market dubbed the OPPO Pad. So let’s take a closer look at OPPO’s first tablet device.

Design

The device features a design quite similar to the stylistic language of the Apple iPad, with a camera placed in the top right corner on the rear accompanied by an LED flash. It comes with large engravings spelling out OPPO on the back panel and also has a much tamer branding in the middle.

The OPPO Pad has noticeable bezzles all around the screen making for a body-to-screen ratio of 86.3%. The sides of the tablet have a flat edge design, offering a volume rocker when on the top when held horizontally.

The device is around 7mm thick and weighs around 510 grams. It is offered in two color options namely Black and Purple. The Purple color variant is treated with a large-area flash sand process to prevent fingerprints on the back while also improving texture.

Display

The tablet comes equipped with an 11-inch LCD screen offering a resolution of 2560×1600 pixels with a pixel density of 275 PPI. The screen also gets a 120Hz refresh rate, a 1500:1 contrast ratio, HDR10, and P3 wide color gamut. The company has also included Hardware-level anti-blue light solutions to the OPPO Pad to make it easy on the eyes of users.

Performance

Equipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 870 SoC, the tablet is offered with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The tablet comes with a large 8360mAh battery supporting 33W fast charging. The tablet is equipped with an 8-megapixel front camera and a 13-megapixel rear camera.

To keep the temperatures under control through long use sessions, OPPO has installed multi-layered graphite + silicone heat dissipation system into the tablet. Offering a large heat dissipation area of 27413mm², the cooing solution makes sure that the device is able to output the best performance during long periods of heavy workflows.

For audio, the OPPO Pad has a quad-speaker setup comprised of second-generation ACC speakers which are equipped with four 1.8-1.9cm3 super-large independent sound chambers. The speakers support Dolby Atmos and are Hi-Res audio certified. On the software front, the OPPO Pad has android based ColorOS which comes with features like four-finger pinch, two-finger split-screen, parallel windows, and multi-device cross-screen collaboration.

Magnetic Keyboard and OPPO Pencil stylus

OPPO has also introduced the OPPO Pencil stylus with the OPPO Pad, which offers an adjustable tip to make feel more natural while using the stylus. The pencil has 4096 levels of pressure sensitivity supports magnetic suction and wireless fast charging. On a full charge, the stylus can be operated continuously for 13 hours.

The smart magnetic keyboard lacks a trackpad, however, it somewhat tries to make up for it with the Fn key and task key which can be used to perform shortcuts on the tablet.

OPPO Pad Artist Limited Edition

The OPPO Pad Artist edition brings with it a custom two-tone metallic silver finish including special patterns engraving on the top side of the back panel. The special edition is only available in 8GB RAM + 256GB storage configuration.

Pricing and Availability

The OPPO Pad will be available for purchase in China starting at 10 am (local time) on March 3. The pricing details of the device are mentioned below.

Live images of the OPPO Pad emerge online including a wireless keyboard

OPPO‘s next launch event is billed to hold on February 24 where the company will officially unveil the Find X5 series. The company has also confirmed that three other products will be launched alongside the Find X5 series, on of which is the Oppo Pad.

Ahead of the launch, we have seen several leaks concerning the upcoming tablet including the renders and key specs. However, live images of the OPPO Pad have appeared online, revealing a purple color option. The images give us a look at the entire design of the device and also show the device will come with a magnetic keyboard which will also double as a protective case. Unfortunately, there is no trackpad on the tablet so you can’t full transform this into a laptop except you are okay with using a mouse. The tipster who shared the images also says the tablet will come with a stylus known as OPPO Pencil.

Earlier leaks show the slate will pack an 11-inch IPPS LCD panel with a resolution of 2560×1600 pixels. The tablet will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 chipset paired with 6GB of RAM. Under the hood, there will be a massive 8,360 mAh battery which should guarantee some decent hours of video playback. Even if you run out of battery, there is a 33W fast charging support onboard.

OPPO Pad pricing revealed ahead of February 24 launch

OPPO’s first tablet is nearly upon us now, scheduled for a February 24th launch. The company officially revealed the device’s design for the first time yesterday through a social media post. This happened following a leakster revealing its complete specifications. That leaves nothing but the pricing of the OPPO Pad, which has now been tipped as well.

Blogger Panda is Bald through a post on Weibo today revealed that the OPPO Pad will start at 2,499 Yuan (~$394) for the 6GB+128GB variant. Meanwhile, the second variant that comes with a 6GB+256GB config will be priced at 2,799 Yuan (~$441).

The OPPO Pad will come with a 10.95-inch LCD display with a 2560 x 1600 resolution, surrounded by fairly slim bezels. It will support 10-bit colors and a 120Hz refresh rate.

Under the hood, you’ll get the flagship-level Snapdragon 870 chip that will be supported by up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The battery will be sized 8,360mAh battery and will support 33W fast charging.

For photography, the tablet will be equipped with an 8-megapixel front camera and a 13-megapixel rear camera. The audio will be handled by Dolby Atmos-powered quad speakers. For connectivity, there will be Wi-Fi 6 2×2 MIMO support. The device will measure 7.05mm in thickness and weigh 510 grams.

Oppo Pad design officially revealed in the new teaser poster

Oppo has kept an event on February 24 for the launch of Oppo Find X5, X5 Pro, and the Oppo Pad. While specs for the two smartphones are already available, the details of the Oppo Pad are still scarce. Last time, we saw the renders of the tablet, and now, Oppo itself has shown off its design in a new teaser poster.

The new poster shared by Oppo reveals the Oppo Pad in all its glory. For starters, this will be the first tablet from the company. As appears in the image, the tablet has a big display that supports Stylus Pen. We also get to see the White-colored Stylus that looks similar to the Apple Pencil.

Moving to the back, the Oppo Pad has an interesting design. It has the Oppo branding in a funky pattern at the top half(in landscape). The rest of the back has a plain matte finish with the small Oppo logo in the center. The tablet has a single camera at the top and also has an LED flash below the sensor.

As per previous leaks, the Oppo Pad will feature a 10.5-inch LCD display with a 2560 x 1600 pixels resolution. It will be a 120Hz refresh rate panel that supports a 10-bit color depth. The tablet will have a 13MP rear camera and an 8MP selfie camera. It will have Snapdragon 870 SoC inside and boast Doly Atmos branded quad-speaker setup. The tablet will have an 8,360mAh battery with 33W fast charging support.
