OPPO released the R9S last year as a successor to the highly successful OPPO R9. The OPPO R9s was indeed a worthy successor because it went on to create some records in terms of sales right from the first sale. In January this year, just two months after the R9S was released, OPPO revealed that it had sold almost 3 million units in China alone. The model was also crowned by Sino research as the top selling smartphone by a Chinese manufacturer.

Despite the R9S’ strong outing, the just released OPPO R11 is showing signs of posting a better result that its predecessor. The R11 went on its first sale in China today via Jingdong (JD.com) and it took only 5 minutes for the device to make a record as the top-selling device on its first sale. The OPPO R11’s huge sales were helped by OPPO making available enough stock ahead of the sales. Apart from having enough stock, the R11 is also proving to be a popular model because Jingdong recorded the R11 sales as exceeding the same figure achieved by the R9S in a day, in just 40 minutes! Isn’t that wonderful?

The OPPO R11 is only available via online sales channels presently but is expected to be available in the offline stores as time goes on. If we are to project from this first sales, we may just be seeing another monumental achievement from another R-series model. Well, the only casualty will be the elusive Find 9, which some hope, the company will launch sometime in the future.

OPPO unveiled its new flagship phones, the R11 and R11 Plus a few days ago. The dual camera duo are the first devices to sport the new Snapdragon 660 processor.

The launch was originally scheduled for 10th of June, but OPPO launched them a day early. However, it kept the pricing details to itself, revealing them last night at a sponsored musical concert.

The 5.5-inch OPPO R11 is priced at ¥2999 (~$440). A special Heat Red variant of the R11 will sell for ¥3199 (~$470). The larger R11 Plus is available for ¥3699 (~$544). Online and offline sale will kick off on June 16 at 10:00 AM local time.

The OPPO R11 and R11 Plus share a design that is obviously based on that of the iPhone 7 Plus. Their selling point is the dual rear cameras. One is a 16MP Sony IMX398 f/1.7 sensor and the other is a 20MP Sony IMX350 f/2.6 sensor with telephoto lens.

OPPO’s F1 is known as the selfie expert with its superb front facing camera. The R11 and R11 Plus trump it with their 20MP f/2.0 sensor.

So which are you going for? The 5.5” R11 with 4GB of RAM and a 3000mAh battery or the 6” R11 Plus with 6GB of RAM and a 4000mAh battery?

OPPO‘s upcoming smartphone, the R11 has been spotted on the website of benchmark platform AnTuTu, listing some of the key specs of the smartphone. The OPPO R11 has been the subject of various rumours and teasers bordering on the features of the device. Just yesterday, it was reported that OPPO had started advertising the camera flagship in some major cities in China.

According to the AnTuTu listing, the OPPO R11 features Qualcomm’s mid-range Snapdragon 660 processor which was announced recently. This confirms rumours that the R11 will feature an SD 660 SoC. In a similar vein, the graphics will be powered by an Adreno 512 GPU. The OPPO R11 is listed with a 20MP rear camera as well as a 20MP selfie camera. The main camera is said to be a dual-lens camera setup. Other listed specifications include 4GB of RAM, 64GB storage and Android 7.1 Nougat OS. While the AnTuTu document only lists the display resolution as a 1920 X 1080 pixels resolution, it had earlier featured in rumours that the R11 will sport a 5.5-inch display.

OPPO has not officially revealed when it would launch the R11 but with the rate at which the company is intensifying arrangement for its arrival via adverts and teasers, the device may launch any moment from now.
