Last week, OPPO had announced is software acceleration engine called Hyper Boost for significantly improving the performance its smartphones. Hyper Boost is all about optimizing the device’s performance in three areas namely, system, games and apps. The OPPO R17 and R17 Pro were confirmed as the first devices to receive Hyper Boost through a software update. Today, the Chinese manufacturer has confirmed a list of OPPO phones that will be upgraded to Hyper Boost through the latest ColorOS 5.2.1 update.

The OPPO Find X is scheduled to receive the Hyper Boost engine in this month. In November, the Chinese manufacturer will be making it available to devices like OPPO R11, R11 Plus, R11s, R11s Plus, A83 and A1.

In December, the OPPO R9s, R17, R15, R15 Dream Mirror Edition, A5, A79 and A73 will be getting the Hyper Boost engine through ColorOS 5.2.1 update. In January 2019, OPPO will be releasing the update for OPPO R9s Plus, A77 and A3.

Hyper Boost is OPPO’s version of GPU Turbo technology that is available on Huawei and Honor smartphones. Hyper Boost’s Behavior Aware Scheduling (BAS) feature can arrange the frequency of hardware in 0.2 milliseconds on a smartphone against Linux kernel of Android that adjusts hardware frequency in 20 milliseconds. This will allow the company to significantly boost the system performance on the aforementioned devices. The Chinese manufacturer had also claimed that Hyper Boost powered devices will offer up to 31.9 percent shorter loading times.

For optimized gaming experience on OPPO phones, the company has teamed up with Tencent, Netease, Unreal, Unity and others to ensure lag-free gaming on the top 100 mobile games. OPPO will be working on improving the Hyper Boost engine by adding AI features to it.

OPPO officially held a ceremony in China where it officially unveiled the OPPO R15 premium midranger. The smartphone will go on sale on April 1 in China. The OPPO R15 comes pre-instaled with Color OS5.0 which is based on Android Oreo.

Now, older OPPO  models like the R11s and R11s Plus will soon have the opportunity of running Android Oreo-based Color OS 5.0. Presently, OPPO has officially started pushing Color OS 5.0 public beta update to OPPO R11s and R11s Plus users. Adaptability of the new custom ROM on the R11s shouldn’t be difficult as both models equally come with a full-screen design except for the notch design which highlights the R15’s display.

The OPPO R11s and R11s Plus were launched late last year with a full-screen design. The models run on Android Nougat -based ColorOS 3.2 at launch. The new ColorOS 5.0 operating system adds a new system theme, and the desktop content is completely new. The control center is merged with the notification center. The bottom of the screen slides out and the shortcut switch operation is easier to use. The Android security patch was also updated to February 5, 2018 to enhance system security.

The OPPO R11 and R11 Plus smartphones that were introduced in June last year are the first smartphones to be driven by Snapdragon 660. Rumors are rife that Qualcomm will soon announce the Snapdragon 670 as the successor edition of Snapdragon 660. Since two new OPPO phones rumored as OPPO R13 and R13 Plus have received 3C certification in China, it is speculated that the OPPO R13 duo could be the first Snapdragon 670 chipset driven smartphones.

OPPO phones with model numbers PAAT00 and PAAM00 have recently appeared on China’s 3C certification website. Apart from support for 20W fast charging, nothing else have been disclosed about these OPPO phones through their 3C listing.

VOOC is a fast charging technology by OPPO that offers 20W fast charging. Currently, only the R-series of smartphones from OPPO are available with 20W VOOC charging feature. Hence, it is speculated that the PAAT00 and PAAM00 could be the upcoming OPPO R13 and OPPO R13 Plus smartphones. Since the Snapdragon 660 chipset had powered the OPPO R11 duo, the Snapdragon 670 may fuel the upcoming OPPO R13 and R13 Plus smartphones.

Plenty of information of the unannounced Snapdragon 670 chipset have already surfaced. Rumors have revealed that the SD670 is a chipset that is designed to power upper mid-range smartphones. It is built with 10nm FinFET process like the Snapdragon 845 and Exynos 9810 SoCs that are designed to power flagship phones.

The Snapdragon 670 includes six cores of Kryo 300 Silver and two cores of Kryo 300 Gold along with Adreno 615 graphics. It has been spotted on Geekbench 1863 single-core and 5256 multi-core benchmark scores.

Previous leaks have revealed that the OPPO R13 and OPPO R13 phones will be sporting a notch design like the iPhone X. The R13 and R13 Plus are expected to come with advanced facial recognition feature. Like the iPhone X, the R13 duo are rumored to feature gesture-enabled virtual home bar and vertically stacked dual rear cameras. 2017 is definitely the year of bezel-less phones. Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 started the trend at the end of 2016, and now most of the best flagships in the market have a borderless display. Oppo R11s Plus vs Huawei Mate 10 are the two major high-end phones released by the Chinese companies this year. With this comparison, we want to explain to you which is best among the two, and we will try to help you decide which one fits your need in the most appropriate way.

Design and Build Quality

Both these devices have a very futuristic design thanks to their borderless display and premium materials used for their bodies.

It is very hard to notice antenna bands on these phones at first glance, which makes them even more attractive. Oppo R11s Plus measures 164.8 x 80.2 x 7.3 mm and it has a weight of 182 g. Huawei Mate 10 has a size of 150.2 x 77.8 x 8.2 mm and a weight of 186 g. Both are big phablets, so you cannot expect compact ergonomics. Oppo R11s Plus is slightly bigger so its opponent is more ergonomic, but on the other hand, it has a bigger screen and is thinner.

In both cases, there are metal bodies and the Gorilla Glass protection by Corning for the display (Gorilla Glass 5 for R11s Plus and an unspecified version for the Mate 10). While Oppo R11s Plus does not have any certification for dust and water-resistance, Huawei Mate 10 is IP53 certified, so it is splashproof and dust-resistant (but not completely as the highest grade is IP6X). For its original look and a slightly higher attention to detail and build quality, the Huawei Mate 10 wins in terms of design, according to us.

Oppo R11s Plus vs Huawei Mate 10: Display

There is no challenge between the displays of these phones, as they both have outstanding screens.

Oppo R11s Plus has a huge 6.43-inch display that shows images at a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2160 pixels with AMOLED technology. It has an 80.7% screen-to-body ratio thanks to the 18:9 aspect ratio, and a pixel density of about 376 ppi. Huawei Mate 10 has a classic 16:9 display with IPS LCD technology and a size of 5.9 inches. But its resolution and pixel density are outstanding: it has a Quad HD resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and a density of about 499 ppi. The screen to body ratio is superior to R11S Plus’ 80 percent here as well (about 81.6%) but there is still some space for a front Home key integrating a fingerprint reader.

While Oppo R11s Plus has more vivid colors and deeper blacks due to the AMOLED technology, Huawei Mate 10 has an outstanding level of detail. Further, the Mate 10 has a better color accuracy thanks to HDR10 technology, that is also supported in important apps like YouTube and Netflix (coming soon). It should also be much more legible in sunlight thanks to its peak brightness of 730 nits. Even without the 18:9 aspect ratio, Huawei Mate 10 has a display which is definitely better than the one of its opponent.

Oppo R11s Plus vs Huawei Mate 10: Hardware

The difference between these phones is big in terms of hardware as well.

Oppo R11s Plus has an octa-core Snapdragon 660 SoC running at a max frequency of 2.2 GHz, composed of Kryo custom cores by Qualcomm. It is the best midrange processor by Qualcomm, but it stays a mid-range SoC. Huawei Mate 10 has the best processor ever made by Huawei, an octa-core Kirin 970 with a frequency of 2.4 GHz (which also supports AI).

The RAM is 6 GB on Oppo R11s Plus and 4 GB on Huawei Mate 10, while the internal storage is 64 GB in both cases. The memory is expandable, but they both have a hybrid micro SD slot, so you would have to say goodbye to the secondary SIM slot. The capacity supported goes up to 256 GB. You can charge Oppo R11s Plus through a micro USB 2.0 port and Huawei Mate 10 through a USB-C slot. They both have Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac and Bluetooth 4.2 connectivity standards.

Both the handsets can deliver incredible performances, but Kirin 970 is faster and smoother in every situation, gaming included. However, Oppo R11s Plus can manage the multi-tasking experience better thanks to a higher amount of RAM and a slightly bigger display that is useful for the split screen feature. But we believe Huawei Mate 10 is better in performance here.

Oppo R11s Plus vs Huawei Mate 10: Software

Even though they have great performances, the user interface of these phones is nowhere near to stock Android and it has been highly customized by the company. But the software for these phones adds many important features as well. Oppo R11s Plus has been launched with ColorOS 3.2, based on Android 7.1.1 Nougat. Among the features, there is an advanced split screen mode and facial unlock with artificial intelligence which is able to recognize the user and unlock the phone in just 0.08 seconds. AI plays an important role in selfies as well, as there is a beautification mode based on AI. It allows to highlight eyes, cheekbones, nose or jawline in selfies, it can brighten eyes and enable a Portrait Mode with an advanced artificial blur.

Huawei Mate 10 is powered by EMUI 8.0 based on Android 8.0 Oreo, the latest version of the OS by Google. The Kirin 970 has a dedicated Neural Processing Unit, and this means that AI features are even more advanced than the one of its opponent, with machine learning supported as well. You can use AI to translate languages and for scene recognition from the camera. There is an advanced Always-On mode to see time, notifications and other info when the phone is on standby. You can also transform this device into a PC. It is possible to connect it to a DisplayPort monitor for a desktop-like use, with the user interface adapting to the monitor, naturally. These are only some of the many innovative features available. Clearly, the Huawei Mate 10 has a software which is much more advanced.

Oppo R11s Plus vs Huawei Mate 10: Camera

Oppo R11s Plus and Huawei Mate 10 can be considered among the top camera phones in the market, even though the latter is in a league of its own.

Oppo R11s Plus has a dual camera setup with resolutions of 16 + 20 MP with a f/1.7 aperture (both sensors), 1.0 µm pixel size, and  Phase Detection autofocus. The selfie cam has a 16 MP resolution (f/2.0) sensor and AI-based features that we described above. Huawei Mate 10 has a dual camera with a resolution of 20 + 12 MP, it has Leica lens, optical stabilization and it can do 2x optical zoom. The aperture is f/1.6, the lowest (largest) ever seen on a smartphone. The selfie camera has an 8 MP resolution with a f/2.0 aperture.

The flagship by Oppo shoot great photos from the main camera, with a high level of detail, but we do not think that its primary camera will have the same performance as the Mate 10. The flagship by Huawei manages to shoot photos with outstanding detail and good color accuracy, and even in low-light conditions, it is great. On the other hand, the selfie camera is much better on Oppo R11s Plus. But, even if the secondary camera is more innovative besides offering incredible performances, we choose Huawei Mate 10 as the winner of the camera comparison, because it offers photos which are way better, in every lighting condition.

Oppo R11s Plus vs Huawei Mate 10: Battery

The battery life is the main problem of most flagships, but not in this case.

The battery of Oppo R11s Plus has a huge capacity of 4000 mAh and it also supports fast charging thanks to VOOC Flash Charge technology (5V / 4A). Huawei Mate 10 has a battery with a 4000 mAh capacity as well, and it supports fast charging: you can reach 58% with just 30 minutes of charging.

If we only talk about flagships, these are the phones from the last generation which have the biggest battery capacity and also the longest battery life. Huawei Mate 10 can last one day and a half with a normal use (making some calls, listening to music, navigating the internet and some video streaming). If we set a high brightness (not the max) with video playback it can last about 10 hours, which is incredible. Regarding Oppo R11s Plus, there are still not enough battery tests to evaluate its battery life perfectly, but we believe it may last even more than Mate 10. Its display has a Full HD+, and this means a lower power consumption. Further, the Snapdragon 660 is optimized very well in terms of energy consumption.

Oppo R11s Plus vs Huawei Mate 10: Price

Prices are very different, and in both cases, we are talking about low prices if we compare these phones with the most famous devices on the market. The main problem of Oppo R11s Plus is the availability: Oppo is still not a worldwide company, so the phone will be sold only in Asia. Anyways, its listing price in China is about 580 euros ($685). Huawei Mate 10 instead is going to be available in many selected markets, and its listing price in many regions goes around 700 euros ($824). Oppo R11s Plus cheaper without any doubt, but Huawei Mate 10 has a great value for money.

Oppo R11s Plus vs Huawei Mate 10: Winner

It is not hard to establish a winner in this comparison. We are talking about phones for slightly different targets, but there is no doubt about the fact that Huawei Mate 10 is a superior phone. Oppo R11s Plus has just a more innovative camera department and, maybe, a slightly longer battery life. But Huawei Mate 10 has a better design, display, a higher level of performances and more features on the software side. Anyways, note that, at this price, the Oppo R11s Plus is much cheaper to buy.

BBK Electronics-owned OPPO has taken the wraps off its new smartphones – the R11s and R11s Plus. Both phones are refreshed variants of the R11 and R11 Plus released back in June.

OPPO R11s & R11s Plus Design

The biggest change in the new phones are the full-screen (18:9) displays which have replaced the traditional 16:9 displays and given the phones a new look. There also are some changes in the camera and battery departments but not enough to warrant a change if you already own the OPPO R11 or R11 Plus.

The switch to 18:9 displays means the R11s and R11s Plus look different. The fingerprint scanners have been pushed to the back, thanks to the reduced bezels. Connectivity ports and microphones are still in the same position but now sit in a groove.

OPPO R11s & OPPO R11s Plus Specs

On the rear we still have dual cameras which are slightly raised with a LED flash on the right. Keeping them company is the fingerprint scanner. OPPO has also ditched the double-line design of the antenna lines for a single thick one.

The OPPO R11s has a 6.01” 2160 x 1080 display. It is powered by the Snapdragon 660 SoC and paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage.

The rear cameras are a combination of a 20MP f/1.7 sensor and a 16MP f/1.7 sensor. The front facing camera is still a 20MP sensor but now has AI features that add some few tricks. The AI Beauty works the same way as that of the OPPO F5. You get over 200 facial enhancements, scene detection, and portrait mode.

The OPPO R11s also packs a 3205mAh battery with support for VOOC fast charging technology. It comes with the new Color OS 3.2 based on Android 7.1.2 Nougat which brings new features like Night Shield, face unlock, and a smart gallery that categorizes images according to the faces, time, location, scenes etc.

The R11 Plus on the other hand has a larger 6.43” screen, beating the unreleased Gionee M7 Plus to clinch the title of largest full-screen display. It is powered by the Snapdragon 660 too but gets 6GB of RAM. Storage is still 64GB though. Camera configuration is the same as the R11s but there is a larger 4,000mAh battery under the hood.

The OPPO R11s comes in black and champagne. It will sell for ¥2999 (~$455). A special red variant will be priced a bit higher at ¥3199 (~$485) .

The R11s Plus will come in black and champagne with a ¥3699 (~$560) price tag. The R11s will go on sale on November 10 while the R11s Plus will be available for purchase on November 24.

The OPPO R11s duo have appeared on TENAA once again to reveal their entire specifications and images.

The images that have surfaced through TENAA listing reveals that the OPPO R11s duo would be arriving with a metal unibody design that slight improvements in design compared to their original models. The backside of the R11s duo feature rear-mounted fingerprint scanner and dual cameras. These phones are also fitted with 18:9 full screen panels.

The OPPO R11s has a 6-inch display that carries support for full HD+ resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels. Like the original R11 phone, the R11s is also fueled by Snapdragon 660 chipset along with a 3,120mAh battery. The smartphone includes 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage. The OPPO R11s and R11s Plus are running on Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS. Both the phones will be equipped with AI driven 20-megapixel selfie camera that can beautify selfie shots by enhancing over 250 facial features by intelligently analyzing factors like age, gender, skin tone and more. The rear sides of the OPPO R11s and R11s Plus are equipped with 20-megapixel + 16-megapixel dual camera system. The OPPO R11s duo are expected to be available in color options like gold, black and red.

A well-known analyst from China has claimed that the Chinese manufacturer is expecting incredible sales of OPPO R11s and R11s Plus. OPPO will be unleashing the OPPO F5 Selfie Expert smartphone on Oct. 26. However, the rumor mill is also claiming that the company will be announcing OPPO R11s at the beginning of next month. Four variants of the OPPO R11s has received 3C certification which indicates that its arrival is close at hand.

The four variants of the OPPO R11s that have been revealed through its 3C approval are OPPO R11s, OPPO R11st, OPPO R11s Plus, and OPPO R11s Plust. There is no information available on the specifications of these phones. However, the 3C certification has revealed that OPPO R11s models will be coming with 5V/4A VOOC fast charging technology.

The alleged design of the OPPO R11s was revealed earlier in this week and now fresh schematics of the smartphone have surfaced. It reveals that the OPPO R11s and R11s Plus may arrive with a full screen design. The schematics reveal that it will be an elongated phone and its screen may support an aspect ratio of 18:9. Its side bezels are slim but the upper and lower bezels are a bit thick. Rumors have it that the display will carry support for QHD+ resolution of 2,880 x 1,440 pixels.

The rear side of the smartphone features a dual camera system at its top-left corner. A fingerprint scanner can be also seen on the back panel of the phone. The antenna bands are placed on the upper and bottom sides like the original Oppo R11. Apart from the inclusion the fingerprint reader, the design of the back panel of Oppo R11s does not seem to be different from Oppo R11.

Some rumors claim that the handset may not feature a 3.5mm audio jack. The bottom side of the phone may be equipped with a USB-C port instead of the microUSB port found the original phone. Speculations have it that like the R11 and R11 Plus, the smartphone would be driven by Snapdragon 660 chipset.

Some rumors had claimed that the OPPO R11S and R11S would be coming with dual selfie cameras, but the above schematics shows that it may feature they will be housing a single selfie snapper. The rear view of the design of OPPO R11S/R11S Plus suggests that they appear very similar to the OPPO R11/R11 Plus.

Even though the above schematics of the R11S/R11S Plus phones show the presence of a headphone jack, speculations claim that it may not feature a 3.5mm audio jack. The bottom side of the phone also features a USB-C port.

The original OPPO R11 and R11 Plus are powered by Snapdragon 660 chipset. Speculations have it that the OPPO R11S will be fueled by Snapdragon 660 and the R11S Plus will be an advanced model with Snapdragon 835 and 6 GB of RAM present inside it. The Snapdragon 801 driven OPPO Find 7 from 2014 is the last flagship phone. Since then the company has mainly focused on releasing mid-range devices. Hence, the OPPO R11S is unlikely to feature the Snapdragon 835 SoC. The dual camera system fitted on the OPPO R11S and R11S Plus is speculated to include 0.9μm 24-megapixel Samsung S5K2X7 sensor as one of the lenses.
