Oppo is still rolling out ColorOS 7 update to the eligible devices worldwide. This version of the company’s mobile software was first announced in November of 2019. The Chinese smartphone maker blames the COVID-19 pandemic for the delay in rolling out the update. That said, it has now shared a new ColorOS 7 July update schedule for certain models in China on Weibo.

With over 350 million active users, ColorOS is one of the most-used Android skins in the world. It is only found on Oppo smartphones and previously Realme devices as well. ColorOS 7 is the latest offering from the company apart from ColorOS 7.1 and ColorOS 7.2, both of which are exclusive to particular handsets.

Having said that, below-listed are the Oppo smartphones that will be receiving the ColorOS 7 update in China in July.

The above-mentioned handsets are also yet to receive ColorOS 7 in global markets. In fact, the Oppo R15 series is slated to get it in July in markets like India, Australia, and Europe just like China. However, the Oppo A91 is scheduled to receive the global update in August.

The below-listed models are the third batch of handsets to receive stable ColorOS 7 stable update in China. 

For the unware, Oppo already has a new version of its mobile software called ColorOS 7.1. This incremental version is only available on the company’s latest flagship smartphones – Find X2 and Find X2 Pro as well as the newly launched Oppo Ace 2. The brand is yet to reveal which devices will get this update

ColorOS 7 was announced way back in November 2019 but only now the company is rolling out stable updates to its devices. The new software update, apart from bringing new features, also bumps up the underlying Android to version 10.

About two weeks ago, OPPO released the ColorOS 6 public beta update for the OPPO R15 Dream Mirror Edition. The update is now available for the regular OPPO R15.

ColorOS 6 brings a brand new interface along with Android 9 Pie to the OPPO R15. The new UI uses a lot of white and also tries to reduce the use of text to create a non-clustered interface. OPPO says the new OS has been designed for full-screen (18:9 and up displays) phones.

The update also brings a new Chinese font called OPPO Sans, and an AI-based application freeze feature that learns which apps are frequently used and which to suspend to free up system resources. Once an app has not been used for more than 20 minutes, the system will already know based on studied usage pattern if it is an app that is frequently used to know if it should freeze it or not.

OPPO has begun rolling out the ColorOS 5.2.1 update to the OPPO R15 and OPPO R15 Dream Mirror Edition. The update brings a ton of new features including Hyper Boost and some AI features.

The ColorOS 5.2 update is a staged rollout so it might take a few days before it hits your device. The changelog is pretty long but we will list some of the new features the update brings below:

• Use the AI assistant to scan words, translate images, scan documents, answer questions etc.

It’s been a year since the OEMs have started pushing the 5G compatibility tests. Now, Oppo has got a success in getting support for 5G connectivity. Today, Oppo Global Vice President and President of China Business Department, Brain Shen took to Weibo to announce the latest development. The new Oppo’s development of 5G compatibility has laid a foundation stone for the 5G smartphone’s commercial availability by next year.

Oppo conducted the successful test at Oppo Reasearch Institue in China. Oppo VP, Brain further detailed that Oppo customized R15 smartphone with a compatible 5G hardware. In the lab testing environment, Oppo connected it with the 5G components such as Systemboard, RF, RFFE, and antenna which led to a live 5G connectivity on the mobile device. Even a “5G” logo also appeared in the top right corner of the screen.

Oppo has already joined hands with Qualcomm under the banner of “5G Pilot” program at recent Beijing 2018 Qualcomm China Technology and Cooperation Summit. Oppo VP added that they want to be a key contributor in providing and complying with the 5G standard. in the past, they can also be seen promoting the 5G product development and commercialization. Oppo wants to become world’s first manufacturer to become the first brand to commercially launch the 5G smartphone as soon as possible.

Although, Oppo started researching and developing on the 5G technology in 2015. It catered to the overall research of 5G standard development and explored the features of 5G compatible smartphones. The claims are even verified by International Standards organization 3GPP which states that Oppo is the highest ranked company in submitting 5G related documents.

Earlier this year, Oppo also tested the first 5G video call using 3D structured light technology. It is the successful implementation of 3D vision technology that Oppo has developed. It is a milestone and a great success for Oppo. Now, we hope Oppo to bring the 5G compatible devices earlier next year.

Last week, OPPO had announced is software acceleration engine called Hyper Boost for significantly improving the performance its smartphones. Hyper Boost is all about optimizing the device’s performance in three areas namely, system, games and apps. The OPPO R17 and R17 Pro were confirmed as the first devices to receive Hyper Boost through a software update. Today, the Chinese manufacturer has confirmed a list of OPPO phones that will be upgraded to Hyper Boost through the latest ColorOS 5.2.1 update.

The OPPO Find X is scheduled to receive the Hyper Boost engine in this month. In November, the Chinese manufacturer will be making it available to devices like OPPO R11, R11 Plus, R11s, R11s Plus, A83 and A1.

In December, the OPPO R9s, R17, R15, R15 Dream Mirror Edition, A5, A79 and A73 will be getting the Hyper Boost engine through ColorOS 5.2.1 update. In January 2019, OPPO will be releasing the update for OPPO R9s Plus, A77 and A3.

Hyper Boost is OPPO’s version of GPU Turbo technology that is available on Huawei and Honor smartphones. Hyper Boost’s Behavior Aware Scheduling (BAS) feature can arrange the frequency of hardware in 0.2 milliseconds on a smartphone against Linux kernel of Android that adjusts hardware frequency in 20 milliseconds. This will allow the company to significantly boost the system performance on the aforementioned devices. The Chinese manufacturer had also claimed that Hyper Boost powered devices will offer up to 31.9 percent shorter loading times.

For optimized gaming experience on OPPO phones, the company has teamed up with Tencent, Netease, Unreal, Unity and others to ensure lag-free gaming on the top 100 mobile games. OPPO will be working on improving the Hyper Boost engine by adding AI features to it.

The OPPO R15 that was unveiled in March this year had arrived with a notched screen. Two months ago, the OPPO R17 was released as the successor of the R15 phone. The waterdrop notch display design allowed the R17 to deliver a higher screen-to-body ratio than the R15. Popular tipster IceUniverse has revealed that the Chinese manufacturer is working on OPPO R19 smartphone. He has also claimed that the R19 will be arriving with an in-display camera which will make it possible to produce even higher screen space than the R17.

Shown below is the render of the upcoming OPPO R19 smartphone. As it can be seen, except for the slightly thick bottom bezel, the display of the alleged OPPO R19 is surrounded by super-slim bezels. The handset features a notch-less display. Instead of the notch, it features a small selfie camera hole at the top portion of the screen. The smartphone is also equipped with an in-screen fingerprint reader.

The rear design of the phone is almost identical to OPPO R17. The R19’s rear seems to be made out of glass. The bluish-green color gradient rear has a vertical dual camera setup followed by an LED flash. Below it is the logo of the company.

There is no confirmation on whether the above render is genuine. IceUniverse has had a consistent track record for leaking information on forthcoming smartphones. Hence, there is a possibility that that R19 may sport the in-screen camera display design. OnePlus has been borrowing its display design for its smartphones. For instance, the front appearance of the upcoming OnePlus 6T resembles with OPPO R17 and R17 Pro. Hence, there is a possibility that the OnePlus 7 smartphone arriving next year may also feature in-display camera like the OPPO R19.

As of this writing, there is no information available on the specifications of the smartphone. The above poster reveals that the R19 may debut in March 2019. It can be speculated that the handset may feature an AMOLED screen of around 6.4 inches, Gorilla Glass 6, Snapdragon 710 and 8 GB of RAM.

Beginning from 2019, various smartphone manufacturers will start launching phones that can connect to 5G networks and OPPO could be one of the first companies to do so. Today, OPPO has officially announced that it has successfully completed the connection of 5G signaling and data links on a commercially available smartphone.

OPPO has reportedly used a modified version of the OPPO R15 smartphone equipped with Qualcomm X50 5G baseband to test 5G connectivity. The successful 5G connection is based on 3GPP Release 15 NSA standard, using 10MHz bandwidth of 4G LTE Band 5 and 20MHz bandwidth of 5G NR n78 band.

Currently, the n78 band is the world’s most widely used 5G NR band. It could preferably be the world’s first 5G band to be deployed in the coming year. Hence, the said band is of great significance for the commercialization of the first batch of 5G products. OPPO Research Institute president Liu Chang has said that the company will speed up the development of their 5G phones based on the implementation of 5G signaling and data link connection on commercially available devices.

It goes without saying that 5G connectivity will offer better than 4G in all aspect such as speed, stability, reliability and low latency. Hence, 5G devices are expected to offer new experience such as 3D communication, 4K+ video playback, online AR/VR, cloud games and so on.

In May, OPPO had successfully demonstrated the world’s first 5G video call using 3D structured light technology, and the FPGA-based prototyping platform had successfully tested the peak transmission rate of 1.46 Gbps downlink and 160 Mbps uplink.

Now that the Chinese manufacturer has also conducted 5G signal tests on a commercially available device, a 5G OPPO phone from the company may not be far away. At the recently held OPPO R17 launch event, Shen Yiren who is the domestic marketing director of the company had said OPPO could one of the first brand to release 5G smartphones in the market. He had also stated that the company is currently focused on the application of ToF (Time-of-Flight) technology, how 3D information is presented through 5G and the specific and practical application of 5G which includes a combination of AR and VR technologies.

The same smartphone is expected to debut as OPPO AX5 in some other markets. The entire specifications of the smartphone have surfaced now which suggests that its arrival could be close at hand.

The new leak reveals that the OPPO R15 Neo (AX5) measures 156.2 x 75.6 x 8.2mm and weighs 168 grams. Diamond Blue and Diamond Pink could be the two color editions of the smartphone. It is likely to arrive with a 6.2-inch In-Cell HD+ resolution supporting screen. The presence of the notch suggests that it will be offering an aspect ratio of 19:9.

The Snapdragon 450 SoC is present under the hood of the smartphone. It is expected to arrive in RAM variants like 3 GB and 4 GB. Both the variants may carry an internal storage of 64 GB. For more storage, it features a microSD card slot. The Color OS 5.1 based Android 8.1 Oreo will be present on the smartphone. The handset may come packed with a battery of 4,230mAh capacity.

The back panel of the phone is expected to house f/2.2 aperture 13-megapixel + f/2.4 aperture 2-megapixel dual camera setup. It may feature a front-facing camera of 8-megapixel with f/2.2 aperture. For connectivity, the OPPO R15 Neo will offer features such as dual-SIM support, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, microUSB and 3.5mm audio jack.

The above specifications revealed that the OPPO R15 Neo (AX5) is the very same handset that has appeared as PBAM00 and PBAT00 on TENAA in the previous month. The TENAA images of the smartphone have revealed that the back panel of the phone only features a horizontally aligned dual camera setup. This confirms that the handset does not feature a fingerprint scanner.

There is no information available on the launch date and pricing of the OPPO R15 Neo or AX5. Now that the entire specs of the phone have surfaced, it may go official in this month.

According to the report released by Counterpoint Research, Oppo R15 is the bestselling smartphone in China’s domestic market in the second quarter of this year with around 5 percent of the market share.

The Oppo R15 is followed by Vivo X21, iPhone X, iPhone 8 Plus, and Honor 7C. While Vivo X21 managed to grab 4 percent market share, the Apple iPhone X, iPhone 8 Plus and Honor 7C — all three has about 3 percent market share.

The report mentions that sales for Oppo and Vivo’s latest flagship devices have performed better compared to its previous generation devices, mainly due to more differentiation in terms of design, such as under-display fingerprint sensor. The report attributes the success of Honor 7C to its aggressive pricing.

In terms of the overall market share, Huawei grabs the top position with about 26 percent market share, thanks to 22 percent year-on-year growth. This is the highest ever market share received by Huawei so far. The company’s sub-brand Honor became the leading and most popular, beating Xiaomi, which also helped Huawei grab the top spot.

Oppo is at the second spot with around 19 percent market share, followed by Vivo, Xiaomi, and Apple which has 18 percent, 13 percent, and 9 percent market share, respectively. To expand and grow its market share, Xiaomi has now been focusing on expanding its offline presence.

Kumamoto Technology, a leakster from China has shared an image seems to have been snapped during a media event in the country. OPPO seems to be one of the sponsors of the event as the banners of the company can be seen in the image. What’s interesting about the image is that it features R17 billboards too. This suggests that the company has already started teasing the R17 smartphone in the home country. Probably, it may launch OPPO R17 and R17 Pro as the successor editions of R15 and R15 Pro.

As of this writing, there is no information available on the specs of the OPPO R17. In the recent, multiple Chinese leaksters including Kumamoto Technology have claimed that OPPO and Vivo could be the first companies to launch smartphones with 10 GB of RAM. Apart from sharing the above image, the leakster has once again shared his previous Weibo post in which he had claimed that smartphone featuring 10 GB RAM may launch by the end of the year.

He could be hinting that the OPPO R17 will come with 10 GB of RAM. However, it seems unlikely because the R15 duo feature 6 GB of RAM. Since the R-series of devices are not flagship phones from the company, there is a possibility that there could be another 2018 flagship phone from the company that will feature 10 GB of RAM. It is speculated that it could be equipped with Snapdragon 710 SoC.

Indeed, the OPPO R15 Nebula Special Edition has now gone on sale online via JD.com. The offline sales commenced on May 20 in China while the Online sales would run concurrently on JD.com, OPPO’s official website and other e-commerce platforms. 

The OPPO R15 Nebula Special Edition comes with a blue-pink-purple color gradient design on its glass back panel. The design was a joint work between Egyptian industrial designer Karim Rashid, and the OPPO design team. So, the signature at the back panel is the designer’s signature. OPPO released a teaser earlier this week that hinted at a new variant of the OPPO R15. The new variant has now launched as the OPPO R15 Nebula Special Edition.

The OPPO R15 Nebula Special Edition has a blue-pink-purple color gradient design. The design was a joint work between Egyptian industrial designer Karim Rashid, and the OPPO design team. The phone even has the designer’s signature engraved on the back.

It appears the new trend for Chinese manufacturers is to hire a high-profile designer to work on their phones. Xiaomi, for example, worked with French designer Philippe Starck, for the Mi MIX series.

The OPPO R15 Nebula Special Design maintains the glass back design of the regular variant but the color gradient design gives the phone a mesmerizing appearance when tilted under light.

The specs remain the same as that of the regular OPPO R15. It has a 6.28-inch Super-V display with a 2280 x 1080 aspect ratio. The notch at the top gives it a 19:9 aspect ratio. The processor is the Helio P60 and it is paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.

The OPPO R15 Nebula Special Edition has a 20MP front-facing camera with face unlock and AI features. There are dual cameras on its rear in a 16MP + 5MP configuration.

The phone runs ColorOS 5.0 based on Android 8.1 Oreo, has dual SIM support (nano only) and packs a 3450mAh battery with support for VOOC fast charge.

Oppo has a tendency to launch a special edition variation of its flagship smartphone. When Oppo launched its flagship smartphone of this year — Oppo R15, we were expecting the company to soon launch a special variant of the device.

Recently, there were reports suggesting that the China-based smartphone manufacturer will launch a new variant of the Oppo R15 in Blue and Red color. Now, the report has been confirmed and it is believed that the upcoming variant is likely to be called Oppo R15 Barcelona Custom Edition.

Oppo has teased this product launch on Chinese microblogging platform Weibo. In the post, the company mentioned the blue and red colors and also suggested that the conference will be presented in a special form. Further, the company said that the device will be launched tomorrow.

Oppo and Barcelona have been partnering up for a special edition smartphone since 2015. The first Barcelona Edition smartphone from Oppo was the R7 Plus in 2015, followed by Oppo R9 in 2016 and Oppo R11 FC Barcelona Edition last year.

The OPPO R15 comes with a 6.28-inch Full-HD+ display with 19:9 aspect ratio and 2280 x 1080 pixels screen resolution. The phone’s rear panel is made out of 2.5D glass panel. Under the hood, the device is powered by the newly announced MediaTek Helio P60 processor, along with 6GB of RAM. It comes equipped with an inbuilt storage of 128GB and enables users to further expand the storage capacity up to 256GB using a microSD card.

The back panel of the phone houses 16-megapixel Sony IMX519 primary sensor and a 5-megapixel secondary sensor. On the front side, the R15 features an AI Smart Beauty and AI Wisdom Beauty-driven 20-megapixel camera.

The device comes fitted with a rear-mounted fingerprint reader. It runs on ColorOS 5.0 which is based on Android 8.1 Oreo operating system out of the box. The R15 is fueled by VOOC fast charging enabled 3,450mAh battery.

OPPO has officially launched its premium mid-range smartphones in Taiwan. The OPPO R15 was launched alongside the R15 Dream Mirror Edition which is also known as R15 Pro. The models come with a rather higher pricing than the prices it adopted in China. That is NT$15,990 (~3,400 yuan) for the R15 while the R15 Pro comes with a price tag of NT$18,990 (4,100 yuan). Whereas the R15 launched in China with a price tag of 2,999 Yuan (`$473) and 3,299 Yuan (`$520) for the R15 Pro.

Basically, the specifications of both models are the same with the China edition. The OPPOR15 Pro tries to tread in flagship territory while skipping a number of smaller features consumers will likely overlook. Both the R15 and R15 Pro features a 6.28-inch OLED Super View Full-Screen display with a notch at the top. It offers a Full HD+ resolution of 2280 x 1080 pixels and an aspect ratio of 19:9 as well as a screen-to-body ratio of 90 percent.

The R15 Pro packs a Snapdragon 660 chipset backed by 6GB of RAM and it includes 128 GB of storage which can be expanded up to 256GB more via microSD card. The premium smartphone gets its juice from a 3,400mAh with support for VOOC fast charging technology. Furthermore, the R15 Pro dual camera setup includes a 16-megapixel Sony IMX519 sensor and a 20-megapixel secondary sensor. The front-facing camera is a 20-megapixel sensor.

Both models run on Color OS 5.0-flavored Android 8.1 Oreo. Both models equally pack a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. Other features include an IP67 dust and water resistance and NFC functionality.

Oppo A3 has just been made official and you can consider it a sort of affordable version of the R15. Indeed, its specs sheet is not so different from the latest Oppo release, and neither is its design. The handset comes with an incredibly high screen-to-body ratio and ultra-narrow bezels on each side.

Oppo R15 has been launched in a new stylish color variant in China. It is called Star Purple and it is a gradient color which is darker on the upper part and lighter on the lower one: it reminds me of the Huawei P20 and P20 Pro in the Twilight color variant. The new color version has just made available to pre-order on the famous Chinese store JD.com and it will start shipping from April 23, a day earlier than the regular buyers. From April 24, the device will be officially available to purchase from the store with immediate shipping.

The list price of this version is 2,699 Yuan, which roughly translates into €347/$428. In terms of specs, this color variant is exactly the same as the standard R15 version. In case you do not remember, Oppo R15 boasts a full metal unibody design and a front panel with an incredibly high screen-to-body ratio, especially if we consider that it is a mid-ranger. The company adopted a tri-bezel-less design with a small notch on the upper part and a thicker bezel on the lower part (its thickness is 1.78 mm). Its display has a size of 6.28 inches, the AMOLED technology, and it shows images with a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2280 pixels.

The model was also crowned by Sino research as the top selling smartphone by a Chinese manufacturer. The first day sale of the R9s on Jingdong was broken by the R11 in just 40 minutes and the model did go on to record stunning feats in terms of sales volumes. After weeks of leaks and official teasers, OPPO has finally revealed the launch date for the OPPO R15. An official poster released on Weibo says the OPPO R15 duo will launch on March 31.

According to the poster, the OPPO R15 launch will kick off at 20:00 hrs (local time) and be televised on Zhejiang Satellite TV. If you are familiar with OPPO launches, you know it is usually a musical concert and device launch bundled into one.

In a separate poster, OPPO also revealed that Chinese actor, Zhang Yishan will serve as brand ambassador for the new flagship(s).

The OPPO R15 and OPPO R15 Dream Mirror Edition are the two phones OPPO will launch on that day. Although they share some similarities, there are also key differences.

The OPPO R15 will come with a 6.28” 19:9 AMOLED display with a 2280 x 1080 resolution and a notch at the top. It will have MediaTek’s new Helio P60 processor paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.

On its rear is a 16MP + 5MP dual camera combo while a 20MP selfie camera sits in front. The R15 will run ColorOS 5.0 based on Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box and pack a 3450mAh battery.

The OPPo R15 Dream Mirror Edition will come with the same display, RAM, and storage. However, it will swap the Helio P60 for Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 660. It will also have a 16MP + 20MP dual camera setup on its rear which slightly protrudes.

OPPO has revealed the camera specifications of the OPPO R15 and it comes with a surprise hardware.

Among the top of the line camera specs included on the R15 is Sony IMX519 sensor. The IMX519 is the latest generation of Sony’s flagship image sensors. The sensor comes with up to 100% increase in frame rate compared to previous generations. It also has faster shooting and more accurate capture. The sensor also features a large 1.22um Pixel size and a 1/2.6-inch sensor size. With this configuration, the main camera is well suited for night captures, churning out clearer shots with less image noise. The camera sensor also supports 60fps shooting. Thanks to the IMX519’s latest sensor, the OPPO R15 achieves double speed in terms of shooting speed and sensitivity.

OPPO claims the selfie camera’s enhancement includes the ability to analyse the subject’s facial features and analyze them based on age, gender, skin colour, and skin quality in order to properly beautify the portraits.

Indeed the portrait shots come out with vivid clarity. It’s a marvel that such crisp clear captures were possible using a selfie camera. We’d have to wait for an independent evaluation or review before we can be sure the camera is as powerful as portrayed by these samples.

The device is listed in four color variants: Hot Red, Star Purple, Snow White and Dream Mirror Red which reminds of its most advanced version, the R15 Dream Mirror. Further, the page on Oppomart lists some of the key specs of the device. According to the store, it will sport a 6.28-inch Super-V display with the AMOLED technology and a 19:9 aspect ratio. The display will include a notch just like the iPhone X.

The processor is not mentioned, but the listing mentions the presence of 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage. From the images found in the store, it is clearly noticeable that the handset has a glass back and a frame made of aluminum. Given the high screen-to-body ratio, Oppo R15 has a fingerprint reader placed on the rear side. It also sports a dual camera setup which is said to have resolutions of 16 and 5 MP. According to leaks, there will also be a 20 MP sensor for selfies which will support artificial intelligence to enhance the beauty mode.

The price in the listing is 99,999 Yuan, but it is surely a wrong price. The listing does not mention the SoC, but leaks have already suggested that the standard version of Oppo R15 will be equipped with an octa-core MediaTek Helio P60 chipset.  Instead, the Dream Mirror Edition which will replace the R15 Plus will sport an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor. OPPO has started counting down to the launch of its new flagships the OPPO R15 and OPPO R15 Dream Mirror Edition. The manufacturer has taken to its official website to tease features of the upcoming phones. Today it has released sample camera photos in addition to more official pictures of both devices.

OPPO announced that the OPPO R15 duo will come with a new AI portrait mode for better portrait images. The AI portrait mode will improve portrait photos by combining dual camera bokeh and AI beauty mode.

The AI portrait mode will also help with lighting effects such as contour light, shadow light, and studio light. The result of these effects is a more professional-like portrait photo.

OPPO has released an official teaser for its upcoming phone and it confirms two of the key specs. The OPPO R15 is its next flagship and save for its processor(s) which is mid-range, every other feature is what you will find in high-end phones.

The new teaser doesn’t show the phone but confirms that it will have 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. While 6GB of RAM isn’t new to OPPO phones, 128GB of storage is still not common. The R9 Plus is the only other OPPO phone that comes to mind with that amount of storage.

The teaser also confirms the full-screen display which TENAA reveals to be 6.28” with a 2280 x 1080 resolution. The display will also have a cut-out at the top just like the iPhone X albeit smaller.

The OPPO R15 and OPPO R15 Dream Mirror Edition (DME) already appeared on TENAA last week, revealing all the specs. However, as we already know, TENAA doesn’t reveal the exact processor powering the device.

A new leak has surfaced online which discloses the full specs including the processor powering the phones and some other important differences. The leak was posted on Weibo and is a picture from what appears to be an official presentation.

As stated above, OPPO is launching two versions of the OPPO R15 – one will be called the R15 while the other will be called the R15 Dream Mirror Edition (it seems it is ditching the Plus variant this year).

Both will have the same 6.28” 2280 x 1080 AMOLED display, 6GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, and 20MP selfie camera. They will also have nearly the same thickness, have the same weight, and both run ColorOS 5.0 based on Android 8.1 Oreo.

For their differences, the OPPO R15 will be powered by MediaTek’s Helio P60 processor clocked at 2.0GHz  with a dual-core AI chip. The OPPO R15 DME will have a Snapdragon 660 processor clocked at 2.2GHz and a single-core AI chip.

They will also have different rear cameras. The OPPO R15 will have a 16MP f/1.7 wide-angle main camera and a 5MP f/2.2 secondary sensor for capturing depth details. The Dream Mirror Edition will have a 16MP f/1.7 sensor and a second 20MP f/1.7 sensor.

OPPO R15 is already confirmed by the numerous teasers and leaked promotional material as being in existence. It is only a matter of time before the device will be launched. The major stand out feature on the device as seen on the several leaked photos and videos is the display notch which the device packs similar to that of iPhone X. That design style has again been reaffirmed by these newly leaked photos of the device which was spotted in the hands of an unidentified user.

The OPPO R15 real machine was spotted while in use inside a Shenzhen subway train and it gives us a closer look at the front design. Except the pictures are fake, which is unlikely, the R15 looks more bezel-less than what we could scoop from the leaked renders. The device has a really high screen-to-body ratio which could be up to 98% by our own analysis. The selfie camera can be seen on the notch which houses not just the camera but also the front speaker. The notification bar seems to extend downwards and isn’t just occupying the sides of the display notch.

Apart from the notch design, the OPPO R15 is expected to feature an advanced facial recognition tech. The facial recognition could be similar to what Apple does, unlike other software-based recognition technologies, but we can’t be sure at the moment. The size of the device points at a 6.0-inch Full-View display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. The device is also expected to come with artificial intelligence (AI) technology, gesture-enabled virtual home button, vertically stacked dual rear cameras, and Color OS 4.0based on Android 8.1 Oreo. There’s also speculation that the new R15 models will feature the upcoming Snapdragon 670 chipset, while a recent rumour tips the device to pack an Helio P60 chipset. There is no word yet on when the device would be launched but we expect OPPO to roll out invitation posters and send out press invites to the R15 launch event soon.

OPPO R15 and OPPO R15 Dream Mirror are the upcoming R series smartphones from OPPO. The announcement of the OPPO R15 duo is expected to happen very soon as the company has started to tease them aggressively. The Chinese manufacturer has commenced the reservations of the R15 and R15 Dream Mirror and today it has shared press renders of both phones on Weibo.

OPPO R15 and R15 Dream Mirror were recently spotted on TENAA. The TENAA listing had revealed that the OPPO R15 Dream Mirror would be coming in colors like Black and Red and the R15 would be made available in color choices such as White and Blue (could be Purple).

The official press renders released by OPPO shows the R15 Dream Mirror in a rich Thermal Red color. The company has confirmed on Weibo that the R15 Dream Mirror will be sporting a 3D glass body. The company has also shared the Snow White and Star Purple color variants of the OPPO R15. This phone will feature two-sided glass design.

The rear design of the OPPO R15 and R15 Dream Mirror is not different from their predecessor. The  OPPO R11/R11 Plus and OPPO R11s/R11s Plus have metal unibody design. However, the successor models are going to arrive with glass rear. Like the predecessor phones, the OPPO R15 duo will be featuring horizontal dual camera setup and a fingerprint reader on the back panel.

OPPO has already teased that the R15 and R15 Dream Mirror will be arriving with 19:9 aspect ratio as both the phones feature a notch at the topside of the display. The company has also confirmed that the R15 duo will be arriving with Super View 6.28-inch display. These phones will be delivering a screen-to-body ratio of 18:9.

OPPO recently teased its upcoming premium midrange models dubbed OPPO R15 and R15 Dream Mirror edition. The models are even on reservation presently. Ahead of its launch, a couple of more details of the devices have surfaced online. The dimensions of both devices are the subject of this latest leak. 

The leak shows the models are going to have the same 6.28-inch screen size.The device comes with a Super Vision display which will account for up to 90% of the entire screen. The bezels at the sides are narrow with a thickness of just 1.78mm. The leaked detail also include a resolution of 2280 x 1080 pixels which is an FHD+ resolution but takes into account the notch which cut into the display at the top edge. The display has been shown in leaked videos and renders to have a notch just like the iPhone X and the notch which houses the front speakers has a dimension of 324 x 80 pixels.

According to earlier reports from IT House, the OPPO R15 will have two processor model versions with 6GB of memory + 128GB of storage and a battery capacity of 3365mAh running the Android 8.1 system. Previous leaks had suggested that the OPPO R15 duo would be fueled by Snapdragon 670 chipset, the successor of the Snapdragon 660 which powers the  OPPO R11/R11 Plus and OPPO R11s/R11s Plus. Last month, the OPPO PAAT00 and PAAM00 smartphones were certified by 3C authority in China. Only the R-series of smartphones from OPPO carries support for fast charging. Since the PAAT00 and PAAM00 were found to be enabled with fast charging, these phones were speculated as the upcoming OPPO R13 Plus smartphone. However, the Chinese manufacturer had confirmed in the previous week that its forthcoming R-series phone is called OPPO R15 and the name of its advanced sibling is OPPO R15 Dream Mirror Edition. The probable reason why R13 moniker was canceled because the number is considered unlucky by some people. Fresh information reveals that OPPO PAAT00, PAAM00, PACT00 and PACM00 models that are believed to be the variants of the OPPO R15 and R15 Dream Mirror Edition have received TENAA certification at the end of the previous month.

The specifications of the OPPO PAAT00 that have surfaced on TENAA suggests that it could be the OPPO R15 Dream Mirror Edition (DME). Since the PAAM00 is also packed with the same specifications, it could be a network variant of R15 DME.

The dimensions of the OPPO PAAT00 are 155.3x 75 x 7.5mm and its weight is 175 grams. Black and Red are its two color variants. It is fitted with a 6.28-inch AMOLED screen that supports of 2280 x 1080 pixels. The handset receives power from an octa-core processor that clocks at 2.2 GHz. The SoC is coupled with 6 GB of RAM. Its inbuilt storage is 128 GB and it has a microSD card slot for more storage. It includes a 3,300mAh battery

The handset is loaded with Android 8.1 Oreo. For taking photos, its back panel features 16-megapixel + 12-megapixel dual cameras while a 20-megapxiel camera is available for snapping selfies.

The TENAA listing of PACT00 indicates that it could be OPPO R15 handset and the PACM00 model could be its network variant.

The dimensions of PACT00 are 155.1 x 75.2 x 7.4mm and it weighs 174 grams. A 6.28-inch AMOLED display that produces 2280 x 1080 pixels is available on it. It features a 2 GHz octa-core processor and 6 GB of RAM. It has the same native storage of 128 GB and it also includes a microSD card slot. It is driven by a 3,365mAh battery.

It will arrive pre-installed with Android 8.1 Oreo. It has the same selfie snapper of 20-megapixel like its other sibling. The back panel of features a dual camera setup that has a 16-megapixel sensor and a 5-megapixel sensor.

The OPPO R15 and R15 Dream Mirror Edition feature notch-enabled display like iPhone X. Both phones offer 19:9 aspect ratio. The display seems to offer around 90 percent screen-to-body ratio. The back panel houses a dual camera setup and a fingerprint sensor. Apart from the different configuration for the rear camera, both phones seem to be powered by different chipsets. It is speculated that the OPPO R15 DME may feature Snapdragon 700 series SoC while the OPPO R15 may be driven by the newly unveiled Helio P60 chipset by MediaTek. Also, the rear view of the OPPO R15 Dream Mirror Edition suggests that its left and right edges are more curved which indicates that it may sport a better appearance than R15.

The Chinese manufacturer has reportedly ditched the OPPO R13 moniker since the number 13 is considered as bad omen among some people. The launch of the R15 and R15 Dream Mirror Edition seems to be close at hand because its official page has appeared on OPPO’s website. Moreover, the company has also started with the reservations of the R15 duo.

In order to reserve OPPO R15 or R15 Dream Mirror Edition, users are required to submit their phone number. People who reserve the handset can stand a chance to Dyson air purifier, Canon photo printer, Dior perfume, Sports Bluetooth headset, and more. The winning list will be declared after the official launch of the OPPO R15 duo.

MediaTek unveiled the Helio P60, its latest processor, at MWC 2018 on Monday. However, there was no mention of the OEMs that have signed on to use the chipset in their phones.

While MediaTek has kept mum on its clients’ names, one leaker has decided to disclose not only the name of one of the OEM’s but also the exact phone coming with the chipset.

According to Twitter leaker – @MMDDJ_, the OPPO R15 will come with MediaTek’s new Helio P60. Surprised? So are we.

The R-series is OPPO’s flagship series and it has always settled for Qualcomm’s upper mid-range chipsets. At the moment, the Snapdragon 660 is the most powerful chipset in Qualcomm’s mid-range line and it already powered the OPPO R11/R11 Plus and OPPO R11s/R11s Plus. So, it doesn’t make sense to use the chipset again.

What about the Snapdragon 670? Qualcomm has not announced it yet and rumors say it won’t arrive till the second half of the year. But with the timing of the leaks of the OPPO R15, it appears OPPO won’t be waiting till then to release its new phone.

Although, it did release the OPPO R11/R11 Plus in the second half of 2017, let us not also forget that the OPPO R9 was announced in March in 2016. With the Snapdragon 660 out of the way, MediaTek’s Helio P60 is the chipset to turn to and for good reason.

The Helio P60 as we saw in benchmark tests offers the same performance as the Snapdragon 660 but unlike the SD660 which is a 14nm processor, the Helio P60 is a 12nm chip. As we already know, a smaller node process brings improvements in performance and power management.

So even with the similar performance as the Snapdragon 660, the Helio P60 should consume less power. There is also a chance that it may even be optimized further to provide a better performance than the SD660.

OPPO has not released a launch date for the OPPO R15 yet but there is a high chance it will arrive this month.

A leaked hands-on image of an unknown OPPO phone has surfaced. It has a notch enabled full screen design like the iPhone X. Last year, the Chinese manufacturer had filed a display patent with full screen design with a notch at its top.

Previously spotted leaked photos of OPPO R13 had revealed that it would be arriving with iPhone X like design. Hence, it is speculated that that the handset shown in the fresh photos could be the alleged OPPO R15. The notch of the OPPO phone seems to feature a selfie camera, another sensor and an earpiece.

The handset can be seen in three color variants like Black, Pink and Purple. Unlike like vertically stacked dual cameras of the iPhone X, the OPPO smartphone sports horizontally arranged dual cameras. The antenna bands are placed on the top and bottom edges of the phone. The fingerprint sensor also resides on the back panel.

The OPPO R15 and R15 Plus smartphones have reportedly received certification 3C authority in China. The Snapdragon 660 chipset was introduced through the OPPO R11 and OPPO R11 Plus phones that debuted in June last year.
