OPPO has confirmed that the Reno 8 series will be available in India on July 18th. It stated that the Reno 8 Pro’s philosophy is based on the Golden Ratio from Sacred Geometry.

OPPO said that it employed an aluminum frame and Gorilla Glass 5 for its construction to be durable. Additionally, the camera module has been integrated with the rest of the handset’s back thanks to heat-forged and molded glass that creates an ergonomically streamlined unibody. This new design is the result of more than a hundred revisions and more than 400 days of work.

The company shared today that Reno 8 Pro’s design is based on the Golden Ratio (1:.618), a mathematical proportion that is in its nature aesthetically attractive. OPPO added that its designers used the same proportion to section the rear camera module on the handset—both laterally and vertically—to create a similarly pleasing aesthetic.

Reno is sleeker than its predecessors

To create the Reno 8 Pro’s streamlined unibody design, OPPO’s engineers observed how users hold their phones. The entire back of the phone is made of a single piece of glass that has been heat-forged and pressure molded to form the soft curves needed for the camera module.

To ensure smoothness, a graphite mold was created and hand-polished with three diamond sheets of varying roughness. OPPO used eight nanometer-scale polishing processes to remove wrinkles caused by high-temperature forging and molding around the camera module, ensuring a surface fineness of 1-2 nanometers.

Additionally, the camera module was created by OPPO’s designers to mirror the Reno 8 Series’ image capabilities. The crew created the famous binocular camera setup to imitate two film reels as a tribute to the classic. This also uses the infinity sign and the number “8” to signify the smartphone’s position in the Reno Series and its extensive imaging power.

Likewise, the nearby ring flash is visible and seamlessly integrates into the lens. A system capable of producing appropriate fill light when the camera is in use and has been built using two circular dual flashes.

The OPPO Reno 8 Pro will be available in two colors: Glazed Green and Glazed Black while the Reno 8 will be available in two colors: Shimmering Gold, which is achieved through a precise combination of dual textures and coatings, as well as OPPO Glow printing, and Shimmering Black, which is distinct from pure black because it resembles a starry night sky.

According to the company, the 4K Ultra Night Video feature will provide professional-grade night image quality with sharp details and vibrant colors. The company has set the phone’s launch in Malaysia for July 21st, even though it has yet to formally tease further features in India and has teasers for feature revelation until July. There, it was verified that the phone sports a streamlined unibody design, where the camera and back cover are perfectly combined into a new, attractive one-piece design, as well as 80W SuperVOOC charging, which can charge the phone up to 50% in 11 minutes.

OPPO is gearing up to launch the Reno 8 series in the Chinese market on May 23. The upcoming smartphones have also been spotted on the company’s Indian website suggesting that they might soon debut in India after the Chinese launch.

Now, a new MySmartPrice report has revealed a high-definition render of an upcoming Reno 8 series device.

The report cites noted tipster Ishan Agarwal as the source of this new render. From the looks of it, the device looks quite similar to the previous render of the OPPO Reno 8, however, there are also some differences, especially with the camera island. Previous reports stated that the camera module will be similar to the one found on the OnePlus 10 Pro. But this render reveals that it has styling similar to the one found on the flagship Find X5 Pro model.

The camera bump smoothly rises from the rear panel giving it the feel of a uni-body design. Two of the bigger lenses have metallic rings around them and the edges of the smartphone are flat with rounded corners. Although the report doesn’t clearly say which model this render belongs to, the MariSilicon branding of the camera modules suggests that it might be the vanilla Reno 8 or the Reno 8 Pro, both of which are expected to come with the MariSilicon X NPU. Other than that, the render reveals four color options for the upcoming device – Black, Blue, Green, and Gold. We expect these colors to have different marketing names.

OPPO Reno 8 series specs (rumored)

So far, leaks suggest that the OPPO Reno 8 Pro will feature a 6.7-inch Full HD+ OLED display while the vanilla variant will come with 6.62-inch Full HD+ E4 OLED display. Both models will have 120Hz refresh rates.

The vanilla variant is expected to come powered with the upcoming Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chipset while the Pro variant will have the Dimensity 8100-Max SoC. Both will get LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage.

The battery capacity of the devices will also be similar at 4,500mAh with 80W SUPERVOOC fast charging. Coming to the optics, the devices are said to have a 32-megapixel IMX709 sensor for the selfie camera while the rear will house a triple camera setup headlined by an IMX766 sensor. Both devices will also bring OPPO’s self-developed MariSilicon X NPU to enhance the photography capabilities of the device.
