OPPO has been rolling out Android 11-based ColorOS 11 builds for eligible smartphones since September 2020. The company has managed to deliver stable builds for a plethora of handsets. Right now, the firm is seeding out ColorOS 11 stable update for not one but five new devices.

At the beginning of every month, OPPO shares its update rollout plan for that month. Following the schedule for May, the Chinese smartphone maker had begun to roll out the stable update to certain phones last week.

Unfortunately, we were unable to cover the news stories for these handsets. Hence, in this article, we have listed all the OPPO smartphones that started receiving Android 11 stable update in the past few days.

Last year, in September, OPPO officially launched its new ColorOS 11 operating system for smartphones which comes with support for several new features as well as improvements. Now, the software is ready for rollout.

OPPO has officially announced its roadmap for the ColorOS 11 rollout or adaptation for its smartphones for the current month, i.e. May 2021. The company has confirmed that it will starts beta tester recruitment for the OPPO A32 users from 19th May.

Later, on 20th May, the company will be recruiting testers for the OPPO A11, A11x, A9, and A9x users. A week after that, on May 26th, the OPPO Reno Z users will be able to take part in this ColorOS 11 beta testing program.

To take part in this, go to Settings > Software Update on your smartphone and then click on the Settings icon in the upper-right corner. From the options, select Upgrade Early Adopters. Agree to the terms and click on the “Apply now” button.

After completing the application to be a beta tester, you can click on the “Check Update” button and get download the new ColorOS 11 on your phone to start using it.

OPPO has revealed that the public beta testing version of the new ColorOS operating system focuses on the early experience and may have stability issues. It might not be suitable for day-to-day usage so it’s a good idea to not use it on your primary device.

The stable version rollout should begin after a few weeks of public beta testing and the company has also said that the official stable version should roll out through over-the-air (OTA) updates in China.

OPPO has been rolling out Android 11-based ColorOS 11 update to eligible devices since September. The latest smartphones to get beta builds are OPPO Reno Z and OPPO A73 5G. interested users of these handsets can enroll themselves for the beta program to experience the new version of OPPO’s mobile operating system.

A few days back. OPPO announced the ColorOS 11 update rollout plan for April 2021. According to the timeline, the OPPO Reno Z and the OPPO A73 5G were supposed to get ColorOS 11 Beta on April 13 and April 14 respectively.

However, the company had started recruiting testers ahead of the schedule on April 12. As per the official announcement posts on ColorOS Community, the registrations for the first batch will remain open till April 19.

As far as eligibility is concerned, interested users need to be running firmware version C.35 on OPPO Reno Z and A.13/A.15 on OPPO A73 5G. Also, the beta program is only live in Saudi Arabia and UAE for the former phone. Whereas, the initiative is also available in Australia for the latter handset, in addition to Saudi Arabia and UAE.

That said, in order to register, users will have to navigate to Settings > Software Update > Gear Icon > Apply for Beta Version > Update Beta Version and follow the on-screen instructions.

The OPPO Reno Z debuted with ColorOS 6.x based on Android 9.0 Pie. It was later updated to Android 10 (ColorOS 7.x) last year. Hence, ColorOS 11 (Android 11) should be the last major update for this phone.

On the other hand, the OPO A73 5G launched with Android 10-based ColorOS 7.2. The latest ColorOS 11 is its first major update. Therefore, it may receive ColorOS 12 (Android 12), as per OPPO’s update track record.

Lately, Oppo has been pushing stable ColorOS 7 update based on Android 10 to the eligible devices in China after being delayed due to COVID-19 pandemic. Now, the global versions of these devices are getting a similar treatment. The handsets that are currently receiving the OTA update are listed along with their respective builds in a table below.

Three months after the astonishing Z5x, Vivo unveiled a brand new mid-ranger focused on quality-price ratio: the Vivo Z5. The new smartphone looks very promising because it offers upper-midrange specifications at a very affordable price. But there are a lot of phones with such a value for money out there in 2019, including best-sellers. Will the new Z5 be able to compete with these devices or it will be cannibalized? In order to predict its success and establish if it is worth choosing it among the many actual choices, we decided to compare it with the best-selling Redmi K20 and the new Oppo Reno Z which is making a lot of success even in the global market.

Design

No stories: Redmi K20 is the best, at least according to my tastes. First of all, it features premium materials, including an elegant glass back with suggestive effects on light reflection and an aluminum frame. Secondly, it is equipped with a full borderless display, so there is no notch and its bezels are very narrow. This is possible thanks to the presence of a motorized pop-up camera. Both Vivo Z5 and Oppo Reno Z boast a classic waterdrop display, as well as an elegant reflective back available in gradient hues. Both are beautiful and well-built handsets, but when it comes to the design, they are nothing compared to the Xiaomi Redmi K20.

Display

Given the support to the HDR technology, Redmi K20 and Oppo Reno Z show more brilliant and realistic colors through their displays. However, you get brilliant colors in each case as all of these devices feature AMOLED panels. Even the display sizes are more or less the same, and all of them have an in-display fingerprint reader. So you do not get so many difference when it comes to display, that is the reason why we recommend you to focus on other specifications.

Specs & Software

Snapdragon 712 for the Vivo Z5, Snapdragon 730 for the Redmi K20 and Mediatek Helio P90 for the Oppo Reno Z. Three amazing upper-midrange processors, but Snapdragon 730 is above all of its opponents. It is built at just 8 nm, so it is very efficient and also very performing (both CPU and GPU). You can not find a better midrange chipset in the actual Qualcomm’s line-up. Snapdragon 712 and Helio P90 offer very similar performances in a lot of scenarios, but Snapdragon 712 is definitely better when it comes to speed and reactivity, while Helio P90 is faster to perform AI tasks. Note that Redmi K20 even comes in the best memory configuration with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage.

Camera

The most convincing rear camera setup is on board of the Redmi K20. The mid-ranger from Xiaomi’s sub-brand features a 48 MP main sensor, a pretty nice ultrawide lens with a 13 MP resolution and even a telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom. The second place goes to the Vivo Z5 which has a worse rear camera than Redmi K20 but a way better selfie camera. Oppo Reno Z is the only to feature a dual camera instead of a triple camera, but its rear main sensor is still awesome thanks to its bright aperture and a pretty nice stabilization.

Battery

Vivo Z5 is powered by a huge 4500 mAh battery and it wins the battery life comparison in most of the scenarios, followed by the Redmi K20 with its very efficient 8 nm chipset and a 4k mAh battery.

Price

Vivo Z5 is the most affordable with a €210/$235 starting price, Redmi K20 starts from €260/$291 and Reno Z carries a €330/$370 price. At the end of the day, Redmi K20 looks a lot better thanks to its higher performance, better design, nice display, and amazing cameras.

OPPO has recently launched OPPO Reno and Reno 10x Zoom Edition smartphones in India. A fresh report by The Mobile Indian states that the Chinese manufacturer will launch a third Reno series smartphone in the country. Unfortunately, the publication did not reveal its name or specifications.

Citing sources that are familiar with the development, the publication has stated that the next OPPO Reno for India will be priced at Rs. 35,000 and it may debut by the end of this month. If this info turns out to be true, very soon OPPO India may start teasing on the arrival of the new Reno phone through its social channels.

So far, OPPO has launched three Reno smartphones in China namely, OPPO Reno, Reno 10x Zoom Edition and OPPO Reno Z. Among these, only the Reno Z has not arrived yet in India. There is a possibility that the company may debut the Reno Z smartphone in India or it may launch an entirely new Reno in the country. A recent report had also claimed that the Chinese manufacturer is gearing up to launch as many as 5 to 6 phones in India by October. The report had claimed that the forthcoming phones from A, K and Reno series in the coming months. However, the report did not reveal exact names of the devices.

OPPO Reno Z Specifications

The OPPO Reno Z features a 6.4-inch AMOLED display with a waterdrop notch. It supports full HD+ resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels. The ColorOS 6 based Android 9 Pie OS runs on the device. The MediaTek Helio P90 chipset powers the smartphone with 4 GB / 8 GB of RAM. It lacks a microSD card slot but comes with a native storage of 128 GB.

There is 48-megapixel + 5-megapixel dual camera system on the backside of the OPPO Reno Z. It has a front camera of 32-megapixel. The 4,035mAh battery of the Reno Z supports 20W VOOC 3.0 fast charging.

In related news, OPPO is expected to soon launch a new A-series phone called OPPO A9sv. Recent reports have revealed that it features 6.5-inch HD+ display, Snapdragon 665, 4 GB of RAM, 128 GB of native storage and 5,000mAh battery.

The A series from Xiaomi created for the global market became so important that even Android One gained a lot of popularity thanks to this line-up. And now, the iconic series has a successor: Xiaomi Mi A3. But besides Xiaomi, even Oppo and Vivo released new mid-rangers for the global market. Oppo came up with the Reno Z, the most affordable variant of the Reno series, while Vivo launched the global version of the Vivo S1. Xiaomi Mi A3 vs Vivo S1 vs Oppo Reno Z

Design

One of the best qualities of the Xiaomi Mi A3 is its amazing design alongside its build quality. Despite it is a budget phone, it is equipped with a glass rear back with very suggestive light effects which vary depending on light reflection, as well as an aluminum frame and the strong Gorilla Glass 5 protection. It is beautiful and it is even the most compact phone of the trio, despite the presence of a big battery. Even Oppo Reno Z and Vivo S1 come with an original design and solid materials, but they have a plastic frame instead of a metal one, so a less solid build quality and a less elegant design.

Display

While in my opinion, Xiaomi Mi A3 is the winner of the design comparison, it loses immediately when it comes to the display. The reason why we exclude it at the beginning is a too low resolution of the panel: someone considers Xiaomi Mi A3 a downgrade of the predecessor Mi A2 because it has just an HD+ resolution. Vivo S1 and Oppo Reno Z have Full HD+ and AMOLED display, so definitely better. Between these twos, Oppo Reno Z should be the winner because it is HDR10-compliant and it should be able to show richer colors.

Specs & Software

A lot of people associate Mediatek chipsets to low performances, but it is not so: MediaTek improved its processor a lot in the last period, despite it does not produce flagship chipsets anymore. As Master Lu showed, the Helio P90 is one of the best chipsets in terms of AI performance, and it is on board of the Oppo Reno Z. Further, we also believe that thanks to the Helio P90, Oppo Reno Z will perform better than Xiaomi Mi A3 and Vivo S1 in most of the scenarios. It even has more RAM: 6 or 8 GB depending on the chosen configuration, while Xiaomi Mi A3 and Vivo S1 stop at just 4 GB. Last but not least, Oppo Reno Z comes with up to 256 GB of internal storage (instead of 128 GB), but it lacks a micro SD slot. While Oppo Reno Z wins the hardware comparison, Xiaomi Mi A3 looks more interesting on the software side because it is Android One-powered, so it will have faster updates for a long time.

Camera

Xiaomi Mi A3 is the overall best camera phone of this trio. It is equipped with a rear triple camera including a 48 MP main sensor and an 8 MP ultrawide lens, as well as an amazing 32 MP selfie camera. Vivo S1 has a triple camera as well, but just a 16 MP main sensor with a reasonable quality. So the second place goes to the Oppo Reno Z and its 48 MP dual camera with a bright f/1.7 focal aperture.

Battery

In order to give you a definitive verdict on the battery life, we have to test the global version of the Vivo S1 (it just debuted, so we had no chance to test its battery life). It has the biggest battery, but there is to consider that Xiaomi Mi A3 has more efficient hardware components. So it will be a hard fight.

Oppo will launch its mid-ranger K3 in the Indian market in a few days. Those days when Oppo was a China-based manufacturer selling offline in the Chinese market only are gone: now it is a global brand and it is a potential menace to Samsung and the other best manufacturers all around the world. If you are looking for a midrange phone released from this company this period is perfect for you as Oppo launched a lot of affordable devices. Given that Oppo K3 launches as soon as next week, here is a comparison with the other Oppo midranges which are more or less at the same level in similar price tags: Oppo Reno Z and Oppo A9x.

Oppo K3 vs Oppo Reno Z vs Oppo A9X

Design

Oppo K3 has the most stunning form factor. Despite it is not part of the Reno line-up, its back cover looks like the ones on Reno devices. And it even comes with a pop-up camera which helps to minimize the bezels without the aid of a classic waterdrop notch. If we exclude the K3, I personally prefer the Reno Z because it offers a cleaner glass back thanks to its in-display fingerprint reader. The design of the A9x looks more outdated due to the presence of a single module for the dual camera setup and a rear-mounted fingerprint reader. It even comes with a lower screen-to-body ratio.

Display

The level of detail offered by these handsets’ displays is pretty much the same, but the overall performance changes when it comes to color reproduction. Oppo K3 and Oppo Reno Z are way better because they sport an AMOLED display, and the Reno Z wins the comparison due to the support to the HDR10 technology. On the other hand, you should note that the Reno Z has a slightly smaller display than K3 and it comes with a waterdrop notch, unlike the K3. Oppo A9x still comes with an above-average display, but it looks like an inferior IPS panel.

Specs & Software

Despite the MediaTek Helio P90 found on the Reno Z is a more recent chipset with a higher base frequency, the Snapdragon 710 by Qualcomm which you can find on the Oppo K3 is a more powerful SoC. Further, the K3 is equipped with up to 8 GB of RAM and up to 256 GB of internal storage in its most expensive configuration, while Reno Z stops at 6 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage. The A9x has an even less powerful chipset than Reno Z: an older Helio P70 and just 6 GB of RAM. Unlike its rivals, it sports a micro SD slot, but it loses the comparison because of its weaker hardware side. Each handset has both Android 9 Pie and Color OS 6 out of the box.

Camera

While Oppo K3 has the best hardware, it definitely comes with the worst camera department. The winner here is the Oppo Reno Z with its 48 MP dual camera, a bright f/1.7 aperture and a 5 MP depth sensor. Oppo K3 is equipped with an AMOLED display as well, but its battery is smaller with a 3765 mAh capacity, so there is no way it can reach the overall battery life of the Reno Z.

Price

Master Lu, a smartphone benchmarking platform from China, has released the list of best smartphones for the first half of the year 2019. The list is led by Huawei P30 smartphone. Master Lu has also released other lists such as top 10 best performing smartphones, top 10 chipsets and top 10 mobile phone UI.

Huawei P30 has acquired 157.28 points to gain the first position in Master Lu’s top 10 best smartphone. The second place Nubia Red Magic Mars smartphone with 154.88 points. The OnePlus 7 Pro is placed on the third position with 150.54 points. The Honor V20, Huawei P30 Pro, Nubia X, OnePlus 7v, Xiaomi Black Shark 2, Meizu 16s and OPPO Reno Z are the devices that have made it to Master Lu’s list of best smartphones for first half of 2019.

The top list of best performing smartphones in the starting six months of the year has Nubia Red Magic 3 at the pole position with 459,463 points. Black Shark 2 is the second place with 425,758 points and the OnePlus 7 Pro is placed third with 413,669 points. The Kirin 980 chipset is on the fourth position followed by Samsung’s Exynos 9810 and Exynos 8895 chipsets. Snapdragon 835, Snapdragon 730, Snapdragon 712 and Snapdragon 710 chipsets have respectively occupied seventh, eighth, ninth and tenth positions in the list.

Next comes the list of top 10 mobile phone UI which is led by Hydrogen OS by OnePlus followed by Joy UI on Black Shark gaming phones. Towards the end of May, OPPO announced the Reno Z, a mid-range smartphone under the new Reno series better known for the 10X zoom flagship. The device was launched in China but it seems OPPO has concluded plans to launch the phone in Europe next week. The phone is scheduled to be released in the Netherlands on July 5.

According to the release details spotted, it will be available via Dutch stores MediaMarkt and Belsimpel with a price tag of €349 ($395) for the 4GB+128GB variant. The phone will be available in Black and Purple colors but the phone also has White and Orange colour variants.

Xiaomi recently announced the first line-up of high-end smartphones under the Redmi sub-brand: their names are Redmi K20 and K20 Pro. The former is currently hitting the European market in a re-branded version called Xiaomi Mi 9T. And it is going to be one of the best options in the whole upper-midrange segment. Alongside this handset, two more upper-midrange smartphones are coming in the global market in this period. We are talking about the new Oppo Reno Z and the Motorola One Vision which will be available in the same price range. If you are looking for a phone priced around €300, then these three options are perfect for you, but which one is the best? Let’s find out together with a specs comparison.

Xiaomi Mi 9T vs Oppo Reno Z vs Motorola One Vision

Design

We usually award the most innovative form factors and, in this case, the most innovative designs belong to the Xiaomi Mi 9T and the Motorola One Vision. The former comes with a pop-up design and no holes on the display, while the latter has a tall punch-hole display which includes a selfie camera. I like both the punch-hole and the pop-up designs, but I personally prefer the Xiaomi Mi 9T due to its stunning glass back and the in-display fingerprint reader making the rear side cleaner. Some may still go for the Reno Z for its cleaner and original glass back, but Xiaomi Mi 9T is undoubtedly the most stunning one for me.

Display

Despite having a very tall and cinematic 21:9 aspect ratio, the display of the Motorola One Vision is not able to provide the same viewing quality as the Xiaomi Mi 9T which takes the first place even in the display comparison, alongside the Reno Z. Xiaomi Mi 9T is equipped with a bezel-less and notch-less display supporting the HDR standard for richer colors. It even has deeper blacks thanks to the AMOLED panel, as well as an in-display fingerprint reader. Even Oppo Reno Z is HDR-compliant, but it has a notch.

Specs & Software

Noone of these handsets is a flagship, but they still feature advanced performances. The most powerful is the Xiaomi Mi 9T equipped with the best Snapdragon 7xx series chipset by Qualcomm: the Snapdragon 730. If you want a better SoC than this, you can only go for the Snapdragon 8xx series which includes all Qualcomm’s flagship processors. Xiaomi Mi 9T also comes with up to 8 GB of RAM and up to 256 GB of internal storage, so it is almost a flagship. On the other hand, despite having a way cheaper Snapdragon 660, Motorola One Vision is still a very valid device as it is part of the Android One program. So, it comes with a lightweight stock Android version which will be updated faster and for a lot of time, directly by Google. Oppo Reno Z sits in the middle with a pretty nice Helio P90 chipset and 6 GB of RAM.

Camera

All of these devices come with a great camera department, but I personally like the photo quality of the Xiaomi Mi 9T and Motorola One Visione more than the Oppo Reno Z. Xiaomi Mi 9T is essentially a more versatile device as it comes with both ultrawide sensor and telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom. But Motorola One Vision has a more stunning photo quality in low-light conditions thanks to OIS and a bright f/1.7 aperture for the main sensor. Do you prefer a slightly inferior photo quality with a more versatile camera department or a better photo quality without ultrawide sensors and optical zoom?

Battery

Unfortunately, we still had no chance to test the battery life of the whole trio. As for now, we can tell you that Xiaomi Mi 9T and Oppo Reno Z may last noticeably more than Motorola One Vision on a single charge, while there should not be an important difference in battery life between Mi 9T and Reno Z.

Price

Xiaomi Mi 9T’s official price is still unknown at the moment, but it should cost around €350/$400. Motorola One Vision starts from €300/$340, while Oppo Reno Z costs €330/$375 in Asia but it is still not available in Europe. Overall, Xiaomi Mi 9T is a better option due to its amazing display, big battery, and awesome hardware.

OPPO sprang a surprise recently when it announced the Reno Z. The mid-range model was first announced packing a Snapdragon 710 chipset but the version announced in China had a MediaTek Helio P90 chipset onboard.

The OPPO Reno Z is similar in design to the Reno except that it doesn’t have the pop-up camera design. Instead, the device packs a waterdrop notch on top of the 6.4-inch FHD+ AMOLED display. The waterdrop notch houses a 32MP selfie camera with features such as RAW HDR, self-timer.

At the rear, the Reno Z packs a 48MP Sony IMX586 main camera with a large 1.6μm pixel size, 1/2.0 large sensor size and f/1.7 large aperture. This is consistent with the setup of the Reno.

The main camera is paired with a 5MP depth sensor in a dual camera arrangement.  The rear camera also comes with composite multi-frame noise reduction and multi-frame HDR technology Ultra Clear Night View 2.0 to enhance the clarity and texture of night shots.

The camera samples shot by the Reno Z shows the setup is pretty powerful. The photos were captured straight out of the camera without any modification to the settings. The night shots captured under the Night scene mode also comes out spectacular.

The Reno Z runs Android 9.0 Pie-flavoured ColorOS 6 and gets its power from an impressive 4035mAh battery with OPPO’s 20W VOOC 3.0 fast charging support. Each of the recently-announced Oppo Reno Z, Realme 3 Pro, and Vivo Z5x is a best-buy and we highly recommend these handsets to a lot of people because of their advanced features at very reasonable prices. Given that they are among the best devices you can buy for about €200, we are going to compare them in order to establish which one has the highest value for money.

Oppo Reno Z vs Oppo Realme 3 Pro vs Vivo Z5x

Design

Despite we are talking about very affordable handsets, the design is not a weak point of Oppo Reno Z, Vivo Z5x and Realme 3 Pro. They all come with stunning gradient backs, but the materials play an important role here. While Realme 3 Pro is entirely made of plastic, the Oppo Reno Z has a glass back and even a more original rear design. While I like the Oppo Reno Z more than Realme 3 Pro, my favorite one is the Vivo Z5x because of its punch-hole display. Goodbye waterdrop notch: this smartphone gets rid of display bezels thanks to a more futuristic and less invasive in-display front camera.

Display

Despite it is not a punch-hole display, the best screen belongs to the Oppo Reno Z. It is the only device of this trio to feature an AMOLED panel, with vivid colors and deep blacks. The AMOLED panel also allows the presence of an in-display fingerprint reader that is more comfortable than the rear-mounted fingerprint scanners found on the Realme 3 Pro and the Vivo Z5x. An advantage of the Vivo Z5x is its larger screen diagonal: 6.53 inches.

Specs & Software

The hardware department is the key feature of each of these handsets, as all of them are equipped with an upper-midrange chipset while being sold at a lower-midrange price. Vivo Z5x and Realme 3 Pro come with an octa-core Snapdragon 710 SoC which is better compared to the Helio P90 mounted on the Oppo Reno Z, with a higher clock frequency, a better GPU, and a better 10 nm production process. Between Vivo Z5x and Realme 3 Pro, the former wins the hardware comparison because it sports up to 8 GB of RAM. All of them come with Android 9 Pie out of the box and a customized UI.

Camera

Despite it has no triple camera unlike the Vivo Z5x, Oppo Reno Z wins the camera comparison thanks to a better primary sensor which comes with a 48 MP resolution and a bright f/1.7 aperture. It clicks more detailed shots thanks to its Quad Bayer technology and it can even record 4K videos. Oppo Reno Z wins even when it comes to the front camera, with a great 32 MP selfie snapper.

Battery

Vivo Z5x may have a worse camera, but it has a mammoth 5000 mAh battery and it can last way more than both Oppo Reno Z and Realme 3 Pro on a single charge. There is even a fast-charging technology, so it will not take so long to fully charge that huge 5000 mAh unit.

Price

In the Asian, Oppo Reno Z, Vivo Z5x, and Realme 3 Pro are all sold for about €200/$225, so you should not mind about the price difference. Overall, Vivo Z5x is the best one for me as it comes with a bigger battery, amazing performances, and an innovative design. But some may like the Oppo Reno Z more due to its better display, camera, and UD fingerprint reader.

The OPPO Reno Z smartphone features a 6.4-inch AMOLED display. It offers a tall aspect ratio of 19.5:9 and it carries support for full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels. The display is integrated with an in-screen fingerprint sensor. The smartphone measures 157.3 x 74.9 x 9.1mm and it weighs 186 grams.

The Snapdragon 710 mobile platform is present under the hood of the device along with 6 GB of RAM. It comes with a native storage of 128 GB and there is a microSD card slot for more storage. The ColorOS 6.0 skinned Android 9 Pie OS comes preloaded on the device.

The selfie notch on the front features a 32-megapixel camera. The rear side of the smartphone is fitted with a dual camera setup includes a 48-megapixel Sony IMX586 sensor and a 5-megapixel depth sensor. An OPPO smartphone with PCDM10 / PCDT10 model number was certified by China’s TENAA regulatory body in the previous month. The same phone has now been spotted on the China Unicom’s website with full specifications, renders and price.

The China Telecom website listing of the OPPO Reno Z smartphone carries a price tag of 2,599 Yuan (~$377). This pricing is lower than of Reno Standard Edition that costs 2,999 Yuan (~$436) in the home market. As of this writing, there is no information on the release date of the OPPO Reno Z. Since lot of information of the smartphone have been leaked, its arrival seems to be close at hand.
