The Xiaomi 13 Series includes the amazing Xiaomi 13 Pro: a premium flagship with very few rivals and maxed-out specifications. A few days ago, OPPO launched a new high-end phone as well, even though it is not its main flagship for 2023 as the Find X6 Series will debut in the first quarter of next year. We are referring to the OPPO Reno9 Pro Plus, the most advanced Reno phone ever seen, with flagship-class specifications. While it may be kinda obvious to a lot of people which one is the best, it is harder to decide which one to buy if we consider that these phones are sold in different price ranges but they offer similar performances. Here is a comparison between the main specifications of the Xiaomi 13 Pro and the OPPO Reno9 Pro Plus that will help you.

Design

Even though it is a more affordable device, the OPPO Reno9 Pro Plus is way better than the Xiaomi 13 Pro if we talk about the design. It has an amazingly thin body with a thickness of just 8 mm and a weight of 192 grams, it is very elegant and it has a minimalistic camera module. But with the Xiaomi 13 Pro, you get better materials and better build quality. It is a phone with a ceramic back and an aluminum frame, with a front glass protected by Gorilla Glass Victus. It is also waterproof with the IP68 certification: finally, Xiaomi released a waterproof phone! On the other hand, it is thicker, heavier, and even uglier in my honest opinion.

Display

The display found on the Xiaomi 13 Pro is superior to the one found on the OPPO Reno 9 Pro+. It is an OLED panel able to show up to one billion colors with a diagonal of 6.73 inches, a Quad HD+ resolution of 1440 x 3200 pixels, the LTPO technology enabling an adaptive refresh rate from 1 to 120 Hz, Dolby Vision support, HDR10+ certification, and an in-display fingerprint reader. However, the OPPO Reno 9 Pro Plus does not have a disappointing display: it sports an AMOLED panel showing up to one billion colors with a diagonal of 6.7 inches, a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2412 pixels, a 120 Hz refresh rate, HDR10+ certification, and an in-display fingerprint scanner.

Specs & Software

The Xiaomi 13 Pro is equipped with a better processor, the best out there alongside the Dimensity 9200. We are talking about the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 built with a 4 nm production process and sporting an octa-core architecture, running at a max frequency of 3.2 GHz. Alongside the chipset, there are up to 12 GB of RAM and up to 512 GB of UFS 4.0 native storage. But the OPPO Reno9 Pro+ is not so far with its Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset built at 4 nm and running at a max frequency of 3 GHz. Further, it has a higher quantity of RAM: 16 GB, alongside 512 GB of native UFS 3.1 storage. Both phones run Android 13 out of the box, but with different user interfaces on top: MIUI 14 and ColorOS 13, respectively.

Camera

The camera hardware of the Xiaomi 13 Pro beats the OPPO Reno9 Pro Plus easily. It has a triple camera made in cooperation with Leica including a 50.3 MP 1-inch main sensor with OIS (the Sony IMX989), a 50 MP telephoto lens with 3.2x optical zoom, and a 50 MP ultrawide shooter. The OPPO Reno 9 Pro Plus sports a 50 MP main sensor (the Sony IMX890) aided by OIS and the MariSilicon X proprietary NPU enhancing night photography. However, the secondary sensors are poor: an 8 MP ultrawide camera and a 2 MP macro lens.

Battery

The Xiaomi 13 Pro has a bigger battery, however, the difference is not big. But it charges a lot quicker thanks to 120W fast charging.

Price

The starting price of the Xiaomi 13 Pro roughly translates into $745/€700 (8/128 GB), while the OPPO Reno 9 Pro Plus starts from about $649/€610 (16/256 GB). Which one would you pick?

Talking about the most powerful models of the series released in the second half of 2022, Xiaomi released the new Xiaomi 12T Pro, while OPPO came up with the OPPO Reno9 Pro Plus. While the former already made its global debut, the latter is yet to hit the global market, but it is still unknown whether we will see a Pro Plus variant Global or it will be renamed with another moniker. While waiting, we think it is time for a comparison between the main specifications of the Xiaomi 12T Pro and the OPPO Reno9 Pro Plus in order to understand the differences between them. So here you go.

Design

There is no challenge if we talk about the design: the OPPO Reno9 Pro Plus is way better. First of all, it is thinner and lighter, with a thickness of just 8 mm and a weight of 192 grams. Further, it is the only one from this duo with a curved screen at the sides, including a very high screen to body ratio superior to 90 percent of the front panel. It also comes with great build quality as it actually sports an aluminum frame and glass protected by the Asahi Glass AGC DT-Star2 protection. On the other hand, the Xiaomi 12T Pro is protected against water and dust with the IP53 certification, but it is not waterproof. But the Reno9 Pro+ is definitely more gorgeous.

Display

Judging from the specs on the paper, it looks like the Xiaomi 12T Pro is equipped with a better display. It comes with an AMOLED panel able to show up to 68 billion colors with a diagonal of 6.67 inches, an 1.5K resolution of 1220 x 2712 pixels, a 120 Hz refresh rate, Dolby Vision support, HDR10+ certification, a peak brightness of 900 nits, and an in-display fingerprint reader. It also comes with stereo speakers tuned by Harman Kardon. But the OPPO Reno9 Pro Plus still sports a good display: it is an AMOLED panel with one billion colors, a diagonal of 6.7 inches, a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2412 pixels, a 120 Hz refresh rate, HDR10+ certification, a peak brightness of 950 nits, and an in-display fingerprint reader, as well as stereo speakers.

Specs & Software

The hardware found on the OPPO Reno9 Pro Plus is slightly better than the Xiaomi 12T Pro. Both phones are equipped with a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 mobile platform: a chipset built with a 4 nm production process and an octa-core architecture including a Cortex X2 CPU, three Cortex A710 CPUs, four Cortex A510 CPUs, and an Adreno 730 GPU. On the OPPO, the main core is underclocked with a max frequency of 3 GHz, while the Xiaomi 12T has the standard 3.19 GHz max frequency of the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. However, the Reno9 Pro Plus sports a higher quantity of RAM: 16 GB instead of just 12 GB provided by Xiaomi, as well as more internal storage: 512 GB instead of 256 GB. Further, the OPPO Reno9 Pro+ has a more advanced Android version: it ships with the latest Android 13 out of the box instead of Android 12.

Camera

At first glance, it seems like the Xiaomi 12T Pro has a better camera as it sports the new 200 MP Samsung ISOCELL sensor. However, the 50 MP Sony IMX890 sensor found on the OPPO Reno9 Pro Plus guarantees a higher photo quality, especially because it is supported by the OPPO’s proprietary NPU known as MariSilicon X. Last but not least, the OPPO flagship has a better front camera, with a 32 MP resolution instead of 20 MP found on the 12 T Pro.

The Xiaomi 12T Pro is equipped with a bigger battery and it should provide longer battery life in several scenarios. It also charges quicker thanks to 120W fast charging, instead of just 80W.

Price

The starting price of the Xiaomi 12T Pro globally is $897/€850, while the OPPO Reno9 Pro Plus, as already mentioned, is not available globally. It costs about $649/€615 in China. Which is your favorite one?

With its very advanced hardware department, it is one of the most powerful phones you can currently find on the market. Yet it does not belong to the most expensive price range. However, it is not the only choice in its price range, as there is another handset from OPPO’s sub-brand which may fit your needs if you are looking for it: the OnePlus Ace Pro, also known in the global market as the OnePlus 10T. If you are a gamer or a power user, you will like these phones very much but it may also be hard for you to choose. That is why we decided to publish this comparison between the main specifications of the OnePlus Ace Pro (or 10T) and the OPPO Reno9 Pro Plus.

Design

Well, if your goal is to obtain the most impressive design you can buy, then there is no doubt: you should go for the OPPO Reno9 Pro Plus without thinking twice. It is built with a glass back and an aluminum frame, and it has a very innovative look, with an elegant camera module sporting the same color as the rest of the rear side, as well as a curved screen at the sides with a punch hole placed centrally. The OnePlus Ace Pro is pretty good with its glass back, but it is not among the most beautiful phones out there. Further, the OPPO is a lot thinner and lighter, with a thickness of just 8 mm and a weight of 192 grams (against 8.8 mm and 203 grams of its rival). So, as we already said, Reno is undoubtedly the most beautiful.

Display

It looks like the OnePlus Ace Pro and the OPPO Reno9 Pro Plus are equipped with the same display panel because the specifications are the same. The only difference between these two displays is the curvature present at the sides of the OPPO Reno9 Pro Plus, but for the rest, they are identical. We are talking about an AMOLED panel able to show up to one billion colors and sporting a diagonal of 6.7 inches, a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2412 pixels, a 120 Hz refresh rate, HDR10+ certification, a peak brightness of 800 nits, and an in-display fingerprint reader. Both phones come with stereo speakers too. So, if you are trying to evaluate these two devices, focus on the other specifications.

Specs & Software

At first glance, the hardware departments of these phones look the same. They are both powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 mobile platform by Qualcomm built with a 4 nm production process and sporting an octa-core architecture composed of a Cortex X2 CPU, three Cortex A710 CPUs, four Cortex A510 CPUs, and an Adreno 730 GPU. In their most expensive configurations, there are 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of UFS 3.1 native storage. The difference is the clock frequency of the processor: the OPPO Reno9 Pro Plus has an underclocked CPU, with a max frequency of 3 GHz, while the OnePlus Ace Pro has the standard frequency of the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, so 3.19 GHz. This means you should get slightly better performance with the OnePlus Ace Pro. On the other hand, the OPPO Reno9 Pro Plus ships with Android 13 out of the box instead of Android 12, and we think this detail is more important.

Camera

The camera setup of the OPPO Reno9 Pro Plus is superior. Even though the resolutions are the same, the main sensors are different. The OPPO Reno9 Pro+ is equipped with the new Sony IMX890 50 MP sensor with OIS, while the OnePlus Ace Pro still uses the Sony IMX766. Further, Reno is supported by the MariSilicon X proprietary NPU, while its rival is not.

Battery

The OnePlus Ace Pro packs a slightly bigger battery, with a capacity of 4800 mAh. Further, it charges quicker thanks to 150W fast charging.

Price

The starting price of the OnePlus Ace Pro in China roughly translates into €500/$527, while you need about $650/€617 in order to purchase the OPPO Reno9 Pro Plus. The latter is a superior phone due to a better camera setup and a better design, but the OnePlus has a superior chipset, a slightly bigger battery, and faster charging. Which one would you pick?

And they are very interesting because they are offered at more affordable prices if compared to the other premium flagships out there, such as the ones found in the OPPO Find X Series and the Honor Magic Series. The latest high-end devices from the above-mentioned series are the OPPO Reno9 Pro Plus and the Honor 80 Pro: two of the most powerful devices out there, but with a good quality price ratio at the same time. They are at the same level, but which one is the best? If you have this doubt, this comparison between the main specifications of the OPPO Reno9 Pro Plus and the Honor 80 Pro will help you a lot.

Design

Both these devices come with outstanding designs and it is very hard to establish which one is the most beautiful as it mostly depends on the personal tastes of the people looking at them. These phones come with premium materials including glass backs and an aluminum frame, and they both feature curved displays at the sides. The Honor 80 Pro is thinner and lighter than the OPPO Reno9 Pro Plus, and it features more interesting textures on the rear side. But the Reno is very elegant, especially if we look at its camera module with the same color as the rest of the rear side. The Reno is also more compact because it comes with a smaller screen.

Display

The displays of these handsets feature more or less the same specifications, so you would not find important differences when it comes to image quality. They are AMOLED panels able to show up to one billion colors with a Full HD+ resolution of 1080p, a 120 Hz refresh rate, HDR10+ certification, and an in-display fingerprint reader. The diagonals are slightly different: the OPPO Reno9 Pro Plus has a smaller 6.7-inch panel, while the Honor 80 Pro has 6.78 inches. Further, there is also a small difference in the peak brightness: 950 nits for the former and 1,000 nits for the latter. But we are talking about marginal differences, you should not focus on them so much.

The OPPO Reno9 Pro Plus and the Honor 80 Pro are powered by the same processor: the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, currently the best processor by Qualcomm if we exclude the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. It is a chipset built with a 4 nm production process and sporting an octa-core architecture including a Cortex X2 CPU running at a max frequency of 3 GHz (so it is underclocked as the standard Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 runs at 3.19 GHz), three Cortex A710 cores running at 2.75 GHz, four Cortex A510 cores running at 2 GHz, and an Adreno 730 GPU. The OPPO Reno9 Pro Plus wins the hardware comparison because it offers more RAM: 16 GB instead of just 12 GB of RAM found on the Honor. Further, it has a more recent software version: it ships with Android 13 out of the box instead of Android 12.

Camera

The main camera of the OPPO Reno9 Pro Plus is able to provide better performance if compared to the Honor 80 Pro: it is a 50 MP Sony IMX890 sensor with OIS supported by the proprietary NPU MariSilicon X, while the Honor has a 160 MP main camera without OIS. On the other hand, with the Honor 80 Pro, you get a better 50 MP ultrawide sensor. Further, it has a better front camera department including a 50 MP ultrawide selfie shooter and a 2 MP secondary sensor for depth calculation.

Battery

The battery of the Honor 80 Pro is bigger, with a capacity of 4800 mAh, which is the reason why its battery life should be longer in most scenarios. On the other hand, the 4700 mAh battery of the OPPO Reno 9 Pro Plus supports a more powerful charging technology: 80W SuperVOOC charging.

Price

The starting price of the OPPO Reno9 Pro Plus in China roughly translates into €540/$569 at the actual change, while you need about €480/$505 for the Honor 80 Pro. I would choose the OPPO due to its higher quantity of RAM, better main camera, and faster charging: which one would you pick?

The phones range from the midrange segment to the flagship one. For now, they are official only in China, but they will come soon to the global markets too. They are not expected to launch in Europe, where at least one of the variants should come under the Find X6 lineup. While waiting for their global launch, it is time to learn the differences between each variant. That is the reason why we decided to publish a comparison between the specifications of the OPPO Reno9, the Reno9 Pro, and the Reno9 Pro Plus.

Design

Even though it is not the most expensive variant of the lineup, I love the design of the vanilla OPPO Reno9, especially in the special Red color option. It is very thin and lightweight, much more than the Pro Plus version, even though the latter has a higher build quality. And it is also the only variant to come in that Red color option with gold accents around the camera module. The Pro variant has exactly the same design, the same dimensions, and the same weight, but it does not have the red color option and this is the only difference. Unfortunately, the OPPO Reno9 Pro Plus is thicker and heavier, which is why I prefer the vanilla version, even though the Pro Plus has an aluminum frame.

Display

All of these phones are equipped with exactly the same display, there are no differences. It is an AMOLED panel able to show up to one billion colors with a diagonal of 6.7 inches, a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2412 pixels, a 120 Hz refresh rate, HDR10+ certification, a peak brightness of 950 nits, the Asahi Glass AGC DT Star 2 protection, and an in-display fingerprint reader. It is not the best display you can find on an OPPO device, but it is still a high-end panel. An important difference of the Pro Plus variant is the presence of stereo speakers for an improved audio experience.

Specs & Software

One of the most important advantages of the OPPO Reno9 Pro+ is the hardware department, as it is currently the most powerful OPPO phone out there. It is powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset paired with 16 GB of RAM and up to 512 GB of native storage. The OPPO Reno9 Pro is less powerful, but still equipped with a high-end chipset: the Dimensity 8100 Max by Mediatek, paired with 16 GB of RAM and up to 512 GB of native storage. The vanilla version is just a mid-ranger, with a Snapdragon 778G mobile platform, up to 12 GB of RAM, and up to 512 GB of storage. All the handsets run Android 13 out of the box, customized by ColorOS 13.

Camera

OPPO Reno9 Pro Plus is the only phone of the series that we define as a flagship camera phone. It has a triple camera setup including a 50 MP Sony IMX890 main camera with OIS, an 8 MP ultrawide sensor, and a 2 MP macro camera. The Reno9 Pro takes the silver medal with its 50 MP Sony IMX890 main camera (without OIS) and an 8 MP ultrawide shooter. The Reno9 is just a mid-ranger with its 64 MP main camera, a 2 MP macro lens, and no ultrawide sensor.

Battery

You can get a longer battery life with the OPPO Reno9 Pro Plus thanks to a bigger 4700 mAh battery, as well as a faster charging technology with a power of 80W.

Price

OPPO Reno9 starts from €340/$340, the Pro variant begins at €470/$470, and the Pro Plus starts from €540/$540 (the prices refer to the Chinese market). Which one would you pick?
