The Oppo Watch has just been announced by the company alongside the Oppo Reno4 series. It is the company’s first smartwatch that will be launched in India and was unveiled in the company’s AR launch event earlier today (31st July 2020).

Display

The Oppo Watch is the industry’s first smartwatch to feature a dual curved AMOLED display. It is offered in two variants, with the larger 46mm version having a 1.91 inch display with a 326ppi density and a resolution of 402 x 476px and 100% DCI-P3 color gamut. On the other hand, the smaller 41mm variant sports a 1.6 inch display.

Battery Life and Charging

The smartwatch arrives with Oppo’s dual chip endurance system to improve battery life with a Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 3100 SoC and Ambiq Micra Apollo3 Wireless SoC. The 46mm Oppo Watch variant offers a usage time of 36 hours on Smart mode and 21 days of battery life in the power saver mode, with functions like heart rate monitoring, notifications, step count, and more. The 41mm version offers 24 hours in Smart mode and 14 days in the power saver mode. The larger model charges 46 percent in just 15 minutes while the smaller variant charges 30 percent at the same time.

Features

Oppo Watch features a heart rate sensor as well, capable of monitoring users’ heart rate during the day and during various physical activities. It even sports 5 exercise sensors that can monitor various sports activities like swimming, cycling, walking, running, and more, making it a good workout companion. The smartwatch runs Google’s Wear OS and is water resistant to up to 50 meters as well.

Price and Availability

The 46mm Oppo Watch model is priced at 19,990 INR (roughly 267 US Dollars), while the 41mm version is priced at 14,990 INR (roughly 200 US Dollars). The former will be available in two color variants including, Black and Glossy Gold. On the other hand, the latter will arrive in three colors namely, Black, Silver Mist, and Pink Gold. The Oppo Watch will begin sale from 10th August 2020.

Oppo Watch Launch and Expected Pricing

Oppo Watch will be officially announced tomorrow at 4:30 am ET (that is equivalent to 10:30 AM CET), alongside the Oppo Find X2 and X2 Pro. The event will only be available in streaming due to the Coronavirus outbreak which made the company delay the launch due to MWC 2020 cancellation. Oppo recently announced the launch event of its flagship smartphone the Find X2 on March 6. Alongside the device, the company also started taking the reservations for its first Oppo Smartwatch through its official app.

From what we know so far, Oppo’s first smartwatch is expected to arrive with a hyperboloid screen that is curved on both sides. This form of 3D curved glass is expensive and difficult to make and was also found in the original Oppo Find X. Additionally, teasers of the wearable also detail its color which appears to primarily be made of black hues.

Unfortunately, finer details regarding the smartwatch from the Chinese tech giant is still unknown, and we will have to wait for an official launch for more details. The gadget will also be a part of Oppo’s plan of a broad range of IoT (Internet of things) devices and ecosystem. For those interested, you will have to wait until the 6th of March 2020, when the device finally goes on sale.

So far, only the teaser image has been used on official channels so not a lot regarding its overall design and specifications are known. The same extends to the software side of things as it is unknown if it will arrive with Wear OS. Although from what has been teased, an OLED display panel under the 3D curved glass is a likely possibility, since the device features a black background on which an hour and minute hand can be seen under the Oppo logo.

In recent years, the IoT (internet of things) and wearables market have grown exponentially. A lot of such devices have become household staples, that have interestingly led to various smartphone brands to branch out and develop such gadgets as well. One of these companies that are looking to diversify is Oppo and its first smartwatch is expected to arrive with a 3D curved display panel.

Due to the MWC 2020 in Barcelona got canceled due to the recent Coronavirus outbreak, many OEMs suddenly lacked a stage where they were going to hold a major press conference. Oppo was one of them and it was rumored that the company will reveal its first smartwatch during the major event. However, the abrupt cancelation has seemed to delay the timeline for its announcement but a leak has given a unique insight on the gadget.

According to an image shared by Slashleaks (a known website featuring many leaked and rumored products), a picture of a small glass panel can be observed. The leak claims it is the screen for the upcoming Oppo smartwatch. Notably, its noticeably striking features are its 3D curved glass panel which resembles the expensive hyperboloid screen that was also featured on the Find X. For those unaware, it is a rather difficult and costly form of display to mass produce.

Previously, we had reported on renders of the Oppo smartwatch which had surfaced online. Unfortunately, the renders do not divulge finer details, but also feature a square display similar to the glass panel in the recent leak. Meaning, it is quite possible that the renders and leaks might be the design that will be later seen on the Oppo smartwatch.

However, the leak is still unconfirmed and we will have to wait for an official announcement from Oppo to provide any concrete statements. So stay tuned for more updates and coverage on other leaks and information that should surface soon.

It is no news that OPPO is working on its very first smartwatch which is expected to launch soon. Back in February, we had our first look at the square-faced watch and its gorgeous OLED display. Now another render has surfaced on the web.

This new render also focuses on the display of the watch which is covered with 3D curved glass. The curved display gives the watch a premium look and is expected to be the trend for smartwatches.

Unlike the first render that has a gold frame and rubber/silicone straps, this has a silver/gray frame and black leather straps. Now, we are sure the watch will come in at least two color variants.

When the image is brightened, the side buttons on the frame becomes visible. We are yet to know the functions of these two buttons.

It was reported earlier that the OPPO Smartwatch will be able to perform an ECG/EKG but the source later deleted the post. We are not sure what to make of that but it is better not to get your hopes high.

The OPPO Smartwatch still has no launch date but we won’t put it past OPPO to announce it alongside the Find X2 flagship. The flagship was originally scheduled to launch at MWC next week but has now been shifted to March 2020 since MWC will no longer hold this year.

OPPO teased its upcoming smartwatch alongside the truly wireless earbuds at the annual Inno Day event back in December 2019. A new Weibo post from the OPPO Vice President Biran Shen reveals that the upcoming OPPO smartwatch features a square display with curved edges and two physical buttons on the right edge.

The OPPO smartwatch resembles the Apple Watch to some extent. But, unlike Apple’s flagship smartwatch that has a crown along with a single button, OPPO’s design gets two buttons with a hole separating the two. The next name of the device is not known yet. Early rumors suggest that this might be for the microphone input, meaning users will be able to attend calls without fetching the smartphone.

What is yet to be seen is whether OPPO provides a SIM card slot directly on the device or stick to Bluetooth connectivity to keep overall costs down. It is quite certain that the smartwatch will be unveiled within the first quarter of 2020. With the company promising to make its presence felt at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2020, the chances of witnessing OPPO launch the smartwatch in Barcelona in February are high.

Early rumors of OPPO launching a smartwatch surfaced way back in 2015 on Chinese micro-blogging site Weibo. Although details were scarce at the moment, it was perceived that the device would inevitably run on the Android Wear platform. More recent reports from last week state the smartwatch will feature a heart rate monitor with ECG/EKG to detect abnormalities in the user’s heart rate.

This is a major upgrade from current devices equipped with a heart rate monitor. Only a handful of devices today feature the technology. The list includes Apple’s iWatch, Amazfit Verge, Samsung Galaxy Active 2, and Withings Move ECG. OPPO will likely introduce complimenting hardware to its future smartphone lineup to optimize the smartwatch’s capabilities. The Xiaomi Watch has been trending following the reveal of its design. While a lot of people are excited about the upcoming smartwatch, one recurring statement is its striking resemblance to the Apple Watch. OPPO’s VP, Brian Shen must have seen the posts and headlines about the Xiaomi Watch’s design and decided to reveal an important detail about their own upcoming smartwatch.

In the post, he revealed that the OPPO smartwatch will have a rectangular dial. He adds that people will compare it to other watches but it is what it is since you can’t make a watch with a triangular dial.

Brian Shen had previously posted about the rectangular dial being better at presenting information compared to a circular dial. However, he does acknowledge that a circular dial looks better as most watches are designed like that.

The issue with the Xiaomi Watch is not the shape of the dial but the fact that it can pass for a clone of the Apple Watch. It not only copies the rotatable crown and power button but it puts them in the same position. In my own opinion, the design of the Xiaomi Watch can best be described with one word – lazy.

There is no info yet on when OPPO’s smartwatch will launch but at least we know it is still in development. OPPO revealed back in February it plans to add smart products such as smart headphones, smartwatches, and smart home products to its portfolio.

OPPO is having a Selfie Party in Los Angeles next week. The company has apparently sent out invites for the event with an image of the selfie stick, hinting that its recently announced product could make it to the American shores in the coming days.

The company announced the new selfie stick back in May. It will clamp to your phone, connect via your 3.5mm headphone port and will extend to help you capture the perfect selfies. There’s a shutter button on the handle, which lets you take pictures, ideal for group selfies.

Given that everyone is obsessed with selfies these days, it might be a good idea to launch its own selfie stick in North America. OPPO is also known to have amazing front facing shooters to seal the deal, like in the case of OPPO N1 which features a rotating camera. The rear 13MP shooter comes forward when you want to take front facing shots. So, you get the same high level picture quality from the front, as you usually do with your rear camera.

The company is also said to release its own smartwatch at the event. Remember back in March, we heard a rumor about an OPPO smartwatch which charges in just five minutes? OPPO isn’t new to wearables (there’s OPPO O-Band) but the company has not yet announced a smartwatch. Looks like that’s going to change soon as a new leak on Weibo (via leaksfly) says that the company is developing a smartwatch similar in looks with Moto 360.

The source reveals a new image online which he claims is the upcoming OPPO smartwatch. The device sports a round face, much like the Moto 360 except for the black bar at the bottom. This means that the watch will have a true circular display.

The watch is said to run on Google’s Android Wear platform. The biggest selling factor of the device according to the source will be the VOOC fast charging technology. It is said that the advanced fast charge tech will allow users to get up to a day of usage with just 5 minutes of charging. This will truly be a revolutionary feature as it will essentially mean if you have a power outlet nearby and 5 minutes, you will no longer have to worry about your watch running out of charge.

We still don’t know whether the watch will be able to last for more than a day if charged till up to 100% as the source reveals nothing about its total battery life.

It is also said that the watch will be lighter and thinner than traditional smartwatches in the market.

Anyways, as of now, these are the only things that we know about the upcoming OPPO smartwatch. Lets wait and see, if we get some more concrete information about the device.
