Orange Pi KunPeng Pro single-board computer with HiSilicon Hi1910 processor now available globally

The Orange Pi KunPeng Pro computer has now made its entry into the global market after its China launch. The KunPeng Pro is one of Orange Pi’s single-board computers that was previously exclusively available in China. It is powered by the Huawei HiSilicon Hi1910 CPU with LPDDR4X RAM and eMMC flash storage is also featured.

The global availability of the KunPeng Pro is coming just about a month after it was released in China. Third-party resellers are believed to have brought the SBC to the global market. It is available in the US, Europe, and the United States. The Huawei-derived HiSilicon SoC has quad 64-bit CPU cores and an AI accelerator that can achieve up to 8 TOPS of performance. The architecture also includes an unknown GPU. Both Orange Pi and Huawei have not provided the full details about the HiSilicon Hi1910 chipset.

Apart from its memory and eMMC flash storage, the KunPeng Pro has an M.22280 slot. It also has a Gigabit Ethernet connection, two HDMI 2.0 interfaces, and a USB-C port that provides up to 65W of power.

The Orange Pi KunPeng Pro is available from AliExpress at a starting price of $223.42 (8GB of RAM and 64GB of eMMC). The model with 16GB of RAM and 64GB of storage is priced at $251.02. It remains to be seen the type of reception the model will have in the global marketplace. It is however noted that Orange Pi has some models already internationally available.

Orange Pi Neo gaming handheld with Ryzen 7 7840U unveiled

Orange Pi has quietly unveiled the Orange Pi Neo, a gaming handheld, at the FOSDEM event in Brussels. The device is set for release in late 2024 and was showcased by the Manjaro Linux team.

Orange Pi Neo Specifications:

The Neo distinguishes itself with a notably slim design, measuring 259 mm in length, 107 mm in width, and 19.9 mm in thickness. It boasts a 7-inch FHD+ LCD screen with a resolution of 1920 x 1200, offering a 16:10 aspect ratio, 500 nits of peak brightness, and a 120Hz refresh rate for smooth, vivid visuals.

Under the hood, it features an AMD Ryzen 7 7840U processor, positioning it competitively with other gaming handhelds like the Asus ROG Ally and Lenovo Legion Go, which also utilize AMD (Ryzen Z1 Extreme) architecture.

Input-wise, the Neo features a traditional D-pad and “YXBA” button layout catering to fans of retro and modern gaming alike. Additionally, it includes twin hall-effect sticks and linear triggers with RGB lighting, providing precise and responsive input options tailored to the demands of contemporary gaming.

It runs on Windows 11 and supports advanced specifications, including the choice of 16GB or 32GB LPDDR5 RAM, and offers storage options ranging from 512GB to 2TB via PCIe 4.0 NVMe M.2 SSD.

The audio setup includes 2x 1W dual panoramic speakers and supports Bluetooth 5.3. The Orange Pi Neo also includes a 50Whr battery, a standard PD-65W GaN power adapter, and an ergonomic grip for comfortable gaming.

It also incorporates dual 6-axis gyroscopes and offers various I/O ports, including USB 4.0 Type-C and a headphone jack. In terms of cooling, it comes with a turbo large fan, dual copper pipes, aluminum alloy cooling fans, extra-large air vents, and a custom cooling design.

The handheld is available in White or Black colors and uses materials like plastic, glass, and magnesium aluminum alloy. The design is sleek with no exposed screws and includes a 2.5D toughened glass cover.

Orange Pi Zero 2W Launched: A Raspberry Pi Zero 2W Alternative with up to 4GB RAM

Orange Pi has launched the Orange Pi Zero 2W, a new single-board computer (SBC) that is a smaller and more powerful alternative to the Raspberry Pi Zero 2W. The Orange Pi Zero 2W measures just 65 x 30 mm, making it the same size as the Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W. However, it features a faster processor and more RAM, along with the option to add an expansion board for more connectivity. So let’s talk about it here.

Orange Pi Zero 2W Specifications:

The Orange Pi Zero 2W is a small and affordable single-board computer (SBC) that is well-suited for a variety of projects. It is powered by the Allwinner H618 quad-core processor, which can run at up to 1.5 GHz. This Allwinner processor is same as the Orange Pi Zero 3, which was released in July 2023.

The processor has four Cortex-A53 cores and a Mali G31 MP2 GPU. It supports OpenGL ES 1.0/2.0/3.2, OpenCL 2.0, and Vulkan 1.1. The SBC also offers configurations with up to 4GB of LPDDR4 memory.

Specifically, customers can choose from four different RAM configurations for the Orange Pi Zero 2W: 1GB, 1.5GB, 2GB, and 4 GB. The device also comes with 16MB of SPI Flash and a MicroSD card slot for expanded storage.

You can use this storage to install a variety of operating systems, including Android 12 TV, Debian 11, Debian 12, Ubuntu 22.04, Ubuntu 20.04, and Orange Pi OS (Arch).

Moreover, the device has a similar set of interfaces to the Raspberry Pi Zero 2W, including a Mini HDMI port that supports 4K@60fps resolution, dual USB Type-C ports, and a 40-pin expansion header that is compatible with GPIOs, 5 UARTs, I2C, SPI, PWM, and more. It also has WiFi 5 and Bluetooth 5.0 thanks to the onboard Cdtech 20U5622 wireless module.

The Orange Pi Zero 2W is available for purchase on Amazon and AliExpress. The prices on AliExpress start at $12.90 for the 1GB variant and go up to $23.00 for the 4GB variant. The prices on Amazon start at $15.99 for the 1GB variant, and go up to $26.99 for the 4GB variant.

There’s also an expansion module for the SBC which adds a 3.5mm audio jack, a 10/100M Ethernet RJ45 port, two USB 2.0 ports, power and user buttons, and an IR receiver. The expansion module is priced at $4.90.
