But even though this is one of the most comfortable phones for productivity, it still haven’t received Android Oreo. The handset has been launched with Android Nougat and actually, it still runs Nougat customized with MIUI 8.5. But now, thanks to the most famous custom ROM, it is possible to install Android 8.1 Oreo on the phablet, which is the latest version of the operating system available if we exclude Android P Developer Previews.

An XDA Senior Member identified by the nickname ashwin007 has made a LineageOS 15.1 ROM based on Android 8.1 Oreo for the Xiaomi Mi Max 2. The ROM has not been made by the official LineageOS team and it does not meet the requirements of the official LineageOS, so you will not find this ROM on the official LineageOS ROM list. But, according to the developer, it is a stable ROM and almost everything works fine. Given that it is not an official update, if you want to try this ROM on your Xiaomi Mi Max 2 you have to flash it manually.

In order to flash LineageOS 15.1 based on Android 8.1 Oreo, you need to unlock the bootloader and flash the TWRP recovery mode. Then you need to flash the ROM and install the Google apps package called OpenGapps. To download the ROM, head to the link at the end of this article. At the moment, we still do not know when Xiaomi will decide to officially roll out Android Oreo on the Mi Max 2. Actually, the company is bringing MIUI 9.5 Global Stable update to 30 of its devices, but not all the handsets listed by the company will get an update based on Oreo.

The device has been launched in the market with Android 7.1.2 Nougat, but now, just four months after the launch, the final update to Android 8.0 Oreo is rolling out. According to some reports from Korea, some units of the device identified with the code V3000S have already been updated: the version of the firmware is Android 8.0.0 v19c.

For now, it is just a local roll out, as the American and European units of the LG V30 still run Android v10c Nougat. There is just a report from the U.S. by a fan who received Android 8.0 Oreo on the unlocked version of the device. But this guy may have taken the firmware from some other source, we do not think it is an OTA update. Anyways, the final update to Android Oreo should be coming soon in Europe and U.S. According to the latest info, the US99819f firmware based on Android Oreo is already in testing.

At this moment we do not know the exact date on which the update will start hitting all the units of LG V30 globally. In the meantime, you can check if the update has hit your device by heading to the Settings menu. Just tap on Device info, then on Software updates, to check if it is available or not. The update to Android Oreo will bring many new features on the LG V30. Among the most important ones there is an advanced picture in picture mode which will allow users to reduce apps as small floating windows on the display, so they can use other apps at the same time. Do you think LG V30 will update before or after Samsung Galaxy S8?

However, the smartphone will come preloaded with Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS. Fresh information suggests that the Android 8.0 Oreo update for OnePlus 5T will be available at the start of next year.

According to OnePlus, the OnePlus 5T and its predecessor phone, the OnePlus 5 have identical software. They feature the same Snapdragon 835 chipset and same amount of RAM. Hence, both the phones are expected to be paired for receiving software.

The Chinese firm has said it will be releasing Android 8.0 Oreo update for OnePlus 5T in early 2018. Last year, OnePlus had managed to release Android Nougat update for OnePlus 3 and 3T at the end of the year. However, OP5T users will have to wait until next year to receive the newest Android version.

OP5T owners can still taste the Android Oreo by enrolling for the open beta. OnePlus 5 users are scheduled to receive the Android Oreo open beta later this month. However, OP5T will be getting the open beta until late December.

OnePlus is aiming to release Android Oreo update as soon as possible to its smartphones. However, some manufacturers like Sony and Huawei have already launched their flagships with Android Oreo preinstalled. Other smartphone OEMs like Samsung and Nokia are also preparing Android Oreo updates for their smartphones.

In the previous week, HMD Global Chief Product Officer Juho Sarvikas had shared official images that revealed that the company is working on Android 8.0 Oreo update for Nokia 8.
Mark Trundle who is the HDM Global’s General Manager for multiple regions like Australia, New Zealand and Indonesia has confirmed in a recent interview that the Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 would be updated to Android 8.0 Oreo before the end of this year. This means that the Nokia 3 will become the cheapest smartphone to receive Android Oreo.

As far as Nokia 8 is concerned, since the company has hinted that it is testing Android 8.0 Oreo update for the smartphone, it is likely that it could become the first Nokia phone to receive the latest Android version. The Android 8.0 Oreo update is expected to be first available for unlocked variants of Nokia 3, 5, 6 and 8. Next in line would be the carrier variants of these phones.

The upcoming Nokia 2 entry-level phone is expected to come loaded with Android 7.1 Nougat. There is no information on whether it will be receiving the Oreo update.
