Panasonic has announced a new superzoom point-and-shoot bridge model called the Lumix FZ80D. This is coming not too long after the company launched the Lumix S9. The model is well suited for wildlife and nature photographers who desire a compact camera with an impressive reach.

The Panasonic Lumix FZ80D is an upgrade of the Lumix FZ80 which was released in 2017. It features an 18.1MP high-sensitivity CMOS sensor, a Lumix DC Vario 60x zoom lens, and POWER O.I.S. as its predecessor. The model however sports some improvements including an improved viewfinder and rear LCD touchscreen. It offers in-camera charging and comes with a USB-C port and cable.

One of the major highlights of the new Panasonic Lumix FZ80D is its DC Vario 60x lens, offering an ultrawide zoom range within the capabilities of a telephoto 20-1200mm setup. It comes very handy when the photographer is out in the wild tracking wildlife or just viewing the landscape. When being used to shoot at longer focal lengths, its POWER O.I.S. helps to eliminate image blur resulting from camera shake. This helps to produce sharper overall images even from a handheld position.

The Lumix FZ80D can record UHD 4K/ 30p videos at 100Mbps in MP4 format or full HD 1080p and slow-motion 720p/ 120 and 480p/ 240. It also features 4K Burst, 4K Pre-Burst, and 4K Burst (S/S) modes when recording continuous 8MP still shots at 30fps. The Zoom Compose Assist function allows the user to quickly zoom out with just a click of a button to reconfirm the composition. The camera also has a dedicated macro mode that allows the user to focus on objects with a working distance of 0.4”.
