<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-390232" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/Panasonic-TOUGHBOOK-S1.jpeg?x10805" alt="Panasonic TOUGHBOOK S1" width="728" height="546" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/Panasonic-TOUGHBOOK-S1.jpeg 728w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/Panasonic-TOUGHBOOK-S1-300x225.jpeg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/Panasonic-TOUGHBOOK-S1-80x60.jpeg 80w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/Panasonic-TOUGHBOOK-S1-265x198.jpeg 265w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/Panasonic-TOUGHBOOK-S1-696x522.jpeg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/Panasonic-TOUGHBOOK-S1-560x420.jpeg 560w" sizes="(max-width: 728px) 100vw, 728px" /></p>
<p>The tablet is quite thick which isn&#8217;t surprising considering it is designed to take a beating. The buttons are big, there are flaps covering the ports, and the screws holding it together are visible.</p>
<p>The 7&#8221; display has a 1280 x 800 resolution and a brightness level of 500 nits. Alongside a glove mode which is a common feature of rugged mobile devices, Panasonic has also included a Rain Mode that can detect when raindrops fall on the screen and ignore it while you are using it.</p>
<p>It is powered by the Snapdragon 660 processor and has 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage with a slot for storage expansion. There is a built-in barcode scanner, a full-sized USB-A port, and a USB-C port. The tablet has an IP65/67 rating and is MIL-STD-810H certified. It can also support drops from up to 5 feet.</p>
<p>The tablet has a warm-swappable battery. What this means is that, when you remove the battery, the tablet doesn&#8217;t go off as there is another built-in battery that keeps it on for a short while. Panasonic will be selling batteries with different capacities, so you can buy the one that suits you best. The Panasonic TOUGHBOOK S1 comes in Wi-Fi and LTE versions. The latter has support for AT&amp;T&#8217;s FirstNet Band 14 which is for first responders.</p>
<p>Panasonic ships it with Android 10 but will update it to <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/android-12">Android 12</a>. This is an enterprise device, so you won&#8217;t be able to pick one up at a store. However, it has been <a href="https://www.androidpolice.com/2021/05/18/panasonic-announces-new-toughbook-s1-enterprise-tablet/">reported</a> that the base model has a $2499 price tag.</p>
