While PETA’s main goal is to protect animals, it also recognizes a business each year for exceptional efforts in this field.

A radical departure from the days of cowhide and crocodile-skin watchbands, millions of watches sold in 2022 will be free of leather thanks to a promise made by Apple Inc., the world’s largest company, which sold over 50 million smartwatches in 2022.

Apple has won the 2023 Company of the Year Award as a result of its action.

As the biggest corporation in the world, Apple Inc. is addressing customer expectations and leading by example for other elite businesses by doing away with leather to reach its 2030 carbon-neutral target.

The company also promised to increase the amount of recycled materials it uses, such as FineWoven microtwill, that have lower carbon footprints.

Given that global searches for sustainable products have climbed by 71% over the last five years and that the majority of customers are concerned about the environmental effect of the things they purchase, Apple Inc. can see that today’s conscientious consumers want to support sustainable firms.

By deciding to give up leather, an inhumane byproduct of the meat business, the corporation will save countless animals and lessen the effects of climate change. Instead, the company will provide accessories made without leather, enabling ethical customers to feel good about acquiring eco-friendly and animal-friendly goods.

As a result of Apple’s leadership in lowering its ecological footprint and preventing the killing of cows for watchbands and phone covers, ethical customers have increased their investment in the company, according to PETA President Ingrid Newkirk. Apple became PETA’s Company of the Year for a policy that PETA trusts other corporations will now emulate.
