Philips lighting division Signify has recently launched multiple outdoor and indoor lighting products. These products include Philips Hue Inara wall light, Philips Hue Lucca wall light, Philips Hue Resonate wall light, and Philips Hue Calla bollard with stainless steel housing.

The company has claimed that these lights can withstand any weather conditions and can be controlled by the Philips Hue app for dimming or increasing their luminescence. It is also working on adding new effects in the Philips Hue app which will arrive in the next to months. So let’s take a look at these new products.

Philips Hue Inara wall light

The Philips Hue Inara comes with a filament-bulb design and also includes the smart Philips Hue features. The light can be used outdoors as well as indoors, making for an interesting piece of decoration. The bulb comes fitted in a vintage-style lantern and offers warm white light with dimmable functionality.

It is offered in Black color housing and will cost EUR 99.99  for the European market. For American customers, the Inara wall light is priced at $99.99. It will be available from February 8 in Europe, and from March 1 in the US.

 Philips Hue Lucca wall light

The Hue Lucca offers a more contemporary design with round-shaped wall lanterns which are ideal for gardens and balconies. The Lucca can produce multiple colors and can even be connected to the Philips Hue Bright to offer smart features like turning on when you’re near home or automating the lights to mimic your presence while away.

Philips Hue Lucca Wall light is priced at $99.99 in the US. and will be available in the market from March 1 in black color option.

Philips Hue Resonate wall light

The Philips Hue Resonate wall light is designed to enhance the outdoor walls of your home. The Resonate has a minimalist rectangular design and offers white and color lights. The rectangular light casts colorful glows both up and down the wall making for two beautiful triangular designs.

Philips Hue Resonate Wall light will be available at a price of $159.99 in the US from March 1.

Philips Hue Calla bollard

The Philips Hue Calla bollard comes in stainless steel housing and is around 25 cm tall, making it perfect for lining pathways and installing in your garden. The lights can help users navigate the way in the dark and can also be set in different colors to create a desirable atmosphere in your garden or walkway.  The Calla path light features Low-volt technology making it easy to set up and expand. Just connect the included extension cable to a Philips Hue Low-volt installation.

All the above-mentioned Philips Hue outdoor smart lights can be controlled with the Philips Hue app, a remote controller (separately sold) voice assistants like Siri, Alexa, and Google Assistant, and also an outdoor monitor sensor.

Signify has stated that the Philips Hue app will be getting new effects in the next couple of months and the first of these new effects will be Candle and Fireplace that will mimic the gentle glowing of natural candlelight or a cozy fireplace.

When it comes to the design, the bulb uses E27 standard and it is well built. In fact, it is one of the better build bulbs I’ve tested. Xiaomi assures that the bulb will last you up to 11 years.

My favorite feature is that the bulb uses the Wifi connection, which is way better than the Bluetooth, which has the range of only 10 meters.

The main features of the bulb are that it has 16 million colors and you can also adjust the color temperature.

You have to do all that using the using the Mi Home app, which is available on the Play Store.Just before you start using the app, make sure to select the location of China (Mainland). Otherwise, you will not be able to connect to the bulb and control it.

Within the app, you can adjust the color temperature and brightness of the bulb, select from a variety of different colors, select a flow mode. Also, you can select from a variety of scenes. One feature that I personally think is a gimmick, is the ability to take picture of an object and the bulb will change the color accordingly. I found this feature to be pretty accurate but I’m not sure if you are going to use it, anyway.

The Xiaomi Yeelight is a smart bulb that has quite a few features and most importantly, it is controlled via Wifi, which has a huge range advantage over the Bluetooth.

The bulb has been working fine, the user interface of the app is simple and easy to use. Last but not least, the bulb costs just below $20, which is really a low price considering the feature set.

Having reviewed quite a few lighting solutions made by the Xiaomi, I knew that this would be a high-quality product. It is very well-made and it does not seem to break anytime soon.

The price of around $40 may sound a little steep for some but it is actually a lot cheaper than other smart LED light solutions e.g. Philips Hue light strip. The Xiaomi smart strip does everything you can ask for this kind of product and thus, it can be definitely recommended.
